Chapter 23: Peace…or?
With a soft groan, Keith's eyes fluttered open. Using the Balance Breaker of the True Longinus rendered him more exhausted than he originally thought. His thoughts were interrupted when he felt a soft tug on his left arm. Turning his head, he was met with Kuroka's sleeping face, eliciting a smile from him, however, his cheeks became red when she moved and the blanket fell, showing her nude form to him and that his left arm was sandwiched between her breasts.
At the same time, a soft sigh from his right caught his attention, making his blush increased. There sat Kunou, as naked as Kuroka, hugging his right arm in the same manner as the cat Youkai.
Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm himself down, but his raging boner was simply against him.
'Thank God they are asleep-'
"Oh my, someone is certainly happy this morning, nya." Kuroka's melodious voice broke his thought, making his head snap towards her. She had a seductive smile on her face, as well as a small blush.
"What? Cat got your tongue, nya?" She giggled upon seeing his expression and got up to kiss him tenderly, relishing in his taste as her tongue brushed against his lips asking for entrance. Once he allowed it, both their tongues began a battle for dominance, neither giving up.
After the two parted, two hands snuck behind his head and turned him to his right where another pair of soft lips captured his own. Kunou's eyes were closed as she was kissing him, her hands moving through his hair. While Kuroka's kiss was more aggressive, Kunou's was softer but not lacking in intensity or passion.
"Good morning Kei-kun." The fox greeted, a gentle smile on her face after she and Keith parted.
"U-uh y-yeah." He blinked a few times, then gasped when a delicate hand brushed against his manhood.
"Mmmm, what do we have here, nya?" Kuroka grinned toothily, grasping his penis through the fabric of his boxers.
Narrowing her eyes, Kunou immediately mirrored her actions, eliciting another gasp from her mate.
"What are you doing Kuroka-chan?" The she-fox asked tightly.
"Hmm? Whatever do you mean Foxy-chan, nya." The cat looked innocently at her friend, her hand still touching Keith's cock along Kunou's.
"Uhm, girls?" While he definitely didn't mind the…attention, he was certain he could feel the temperature in the room increase steadily. "Maybe we could calm down for a bit?"
Keith breathed out in relief when the two stopped glaring at one another, yet their hands didn't move away from his penis.
Kunou and Kuroka switched their gazes from one another to Keith's tent, then back on each other and nodded, seemingly having a wordless conversation. They began to plant kisses alongside Keith's chest, making him shudder slightly at the contact between their soft lips and his skin.
"W-What are you doing?" He asked them.
Kunou hummed. "Making you feel good."
"Mhm! Just lay back and relax. You deserve it, nya." Kuroka winked and plastered another kiss on him, this time close to his groin. She smirked when she saw his cock twitch.
Without waiting any longer, the two quickly removed his boxers and grabbed his manhood, which throbbed happily at the contact.
"I hope you are ready for this Kei-kun, nya." Kuroka said huskily.
"Mm! One Youkai is hard enough to please, but two…" Kunou giggled when she saw his horrified expression.
Good thing the apartment was soundproof or the neighbours would have been less than pleased.
After the very exciting morning, the trio teleported away to Kyoto to report to Yasaka everything that happened ever since they arrived in Kuoh.
When the three finished their report, Yasaka was pleased to hear that everything turned out fine. She didn't show it now, but she was worried sick for the well-being of the three.
"That's not all though…" Kunou started but stopped to look at her mate who began to feel nervous all of a sudden.
"What do you mean?" Yasaka asked, narrowing her eyes slightly when she saw Keith take a deep breath.
"While Keith managed to defeat Heracles, it wasn't without cost, nya." Kuroka said softly, she too glanced at her mate.
"What happened?" She looked at them in worry, mainly at Keith.
"I managed to unlock the True Longinus' Balance Breaker." He replied slowly.
"That's great news!" Yasaka exclaimed, but couldn't understand the tension. "That's…not all…is it?"
The human shook his head. He took another deep breath and looked at her in the eyes.
"I…I died."
Silence. Complete silence.
Yasaka's eyes widened in shock and horror.
"What?" She whispered, praying her ears were playing a trick on her.
"H-Heracles managed to overpower us and hurled a lightning spear at Kunou." He began. "I…I couldn't let that happen…I knew I had to act fast, so I quickly made my way to her and intercepted the spear."
"He saved my life." Kunou said softly, a loving and admiring tone in her voice.
"I don't get it…" Yasaka said after a while. "H-How are you alive right now?"
"After I died…I expected to be sent to Heaven or something…but instead, I woke up in a dark place." He said. "I roamed around until the True Longinus appeared and guided me to a small white orb. Once I touched it, the dark place was gone, and I found myself engulfed by a warm light." He let a smile come to his face.
Meanwhile, Yasaka was listening intently, grasping the arms of her chair tightly.
"Once the light died down, the blackness was replaced with white and a big ball of pure energy began to talk with me." He continued. "It turned out that it was God who brought me there."
The older fox's mouth fell open, imitating that of a fish out of water.
"And it was him who allowed me to come back to life." Keith finished.
Yasaka remained silent for a little bit, gathering her thoughts. The idea that Keith met God absolutely baffled her. Getting up from her chair, she got in front of him and hugged him tightly. He returned the hug almost immediately.
Kunou and Kuroka smiled seeing them.
"I am sorry." The older she-fox murmured. "I shouldn't have sent you there."
"It's not your fault Yasaka." Keith said. "Besides, you know I would have gone anyway." He chuckled slightly, making her smile.
"I know." She agreed in the same soft tone. Her hug on him tightened, as if afraid he was just a ghost or something.
"Hey, don't worry." He gave her a reassuring squeeze. "I am not going to die anytime soon."
The two let go of one another, Yasaka still looking at him with a tinge of sadness.
"How did you manage to unlock the Balance Breaker?" She finally remembered about that.
He then began explaining to her what God told him: that the True Longinus required more than just will and power to unlock its Balance Breaker, and that it saw his sacrifice as the ultimate selfless act, thus unlocking the Balance Breaker.
Yasaka couldn't ignore the awe and admiration she felt for the human right at that moment, her affection for him growing stronger by the minute.
Thankfully, she remembered something important to talk with them about before she would do something to him, something pleasant, mind you.
'Not yet.' A voice whispered in the back of her head.
Clearing her throat slightly, she began with a warm smile. "You three did an amazing job and I couldn't be more proud of you."
This brought smiles on the three's faces.
"I spoke with Sirzechs and he informed me that he would like to hold a meeting between the leaders of the three Biblical Factions." She said.
"A meeting, nya?" Kuroka tilted her head.
"Yes, they would like to negotiate a peace treaty between the factions." She continued.
"Finally." Kunou mumbled, making Yasaka chuckle.
"Are we required to be at that meeting?" Keith asked.
The older fox nodded.
"Yes since you three were there and helped to defend the territory. I will also join the meeting since both Azazel and Michael will attend."
"When will the meeting take place?" Kunou inquired, slightly surprised to hear about the Angels' leader.
"A few days from now on, after the Open House." Yasaka replied.
Kuroka's eyes widened when she heard.
"Open House?!" She exclaimed. "Shirone-chan didn't tell me anything about that!"
The other three chuckled at her pouty expression.
Closing his eyes and concentrating, Keith held the True Longinus tightly in his hands. He was donned in the familiar blue armour from the Balance Breaker, his cape blowing in the wind.
With a fast reaction, he swung the spear to intercept a fireball coming his way, then he used the shaft of the True Longinus to block an incoming attack from Hokori's spear.
"Your reflexes and speed have grown nicely Keith." The wolf Youkai praised, pushing his spear into Keith's.
"What can I say…I had a good sensei." The human smirked behind his helmet as he counter-pushed. They didn't stay like that long because Keith had to jump away when a blast of Senjutsu came his way.
He moved slowly as Kunou, flanked his right, Kuroka his left and Hokori stood in front of him.
"What are you going to do now, Kei-kun?" The fox girl asked, a mischievous smile on her face. "You are surrounded."
"She's right. Give up and let us have some other fun, nya." Kuroka said sensually.
"Sorry, but that is not an option." He chuckled when she pouted.
Without waiting for another second, Hokori dashed forward and attempted to stab the human, but he tilted fast enough to dodge it. Then he had to duck to avoid being slashed by Kunou's claws. He was confident enough that his armour would have protected him, but better not to take any risks. Before Kunou could attack again, he used the spear and tripped her making her yelp.
Dodging another swing from Hokori, he used his speed to move behind the wolf's back and hit him in the back with the butt of the True Longinus, eliciting a confused groan from him.
Meeting Kuroka's eyes with his own, he wasted no time and lunged at her. Narrowing her eyebrows, the cat smirked and disappeared before he could touch her.
Looking confused for a second, Keith quickly widened his eyes when he realized that it was an illusion. Before he could do something, a strong Touki-coated fist hit him in his back.
"Huh?" Kuroka was baffled when she saw that her attack merely cracked his armour slightly.
'I should have put more strength in the punch'. She thought before she had to dodge a flurry of attacks from Keith.
Seeing an opening, the human made to punish it, but before he could do that, he froze when he sensed a fourth person behind him.
"You let yourself open Kei-kun." A voice sang close to his ear and hit him in the side with her foot.
"Gah!" He flew away, the force of the hit feeling like a truck just ran into him.
"Ara…I may have used a little too much force." Yasaka stuck her tongue out playfully.
"N-Not fair." He groaned as he used the True Longinus to get up. "Shit that hurt like hell." He mumbled, however, he was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't that bad. The blessing from God was already making his life easier, not to add the help from the Balance Breaker.
"Oh stop complaining." The leader of the Youkai faction chided with a chuckle. "When I saw you four training I couldn't help myself."
"At least you could have been on my side." He muttered and dispelled the armour.
"Where is the fun in that?" She smiled and moved towards him. Holding up her hand, she healed the injuries he sustained throughout the fight. "You four were at it for more than three hours."
Widening his eyes, Keith felt pride swelling in his chest. He managed to stay in the Balance Breaker for three hours while constantly fighting.
"Yasaka-sama is right." Hokori said as he approached them. "You came far. I remember the day you were just a snotty brat like it was yesterday." He snorted.
"Well…it only passed like…three months?" Keith said.
"Four." Kunou corrected as she and Kuroka came towards them. "I am very proud of you Kei-kun."
"Mhm! You will master the Balance Breaker in no time! Then, that True Idea or whatever will be no problem anymore, nya." Kuroka said excitedly.
"Kuroka-chan…" Yasaka warned.
"Truth Idea." Keith corrected, then looked at the True Longinus with an unreadable expression. "When I spoke with God…he told me he hoped that I would not ever need it." He couldn't deny the curiosity he felt about that, however, he also needed to be careful. The True Longinus was considered one of the biggest bugs in the Sacred Gear system. Ever since God brought the name up, Keith kept thinking about it…was it as dangerous as the Juggernaut Drive the Boosted Gear and Divine Dividing had? Will he lose his sanity while his life would be devoured by the power? Will he hurt…others?
That thought scared him to no end.
"Hey." Kunou placed her hand on his cheek tenderly. "You don't have to worry about it." She said gently.
He looked into her eyes for a couple of seconds, then nodded.
"I-I am sorry Kei-kun." Kuroka looked down, her ears flopping against her head sadly. "I didn't mean to make you feel bad or anything, nya."
"It's fine Kuroka." He smiled at her. "You did nothing wrong."
She nodded weakly, not looking up until she felt a hand on her shoulder. Raising her head, her hazel-gold eyes met Keith's grey ones.
"I am fine, Kuroka." He reassured her again, then kissed her lovingly on the forehead, making her smile and hug him.
"Hey no fair!" Kunou whined as she moved between them, looking expectantly at her mate.
Chuckling, he complied and kissed her forehead as well.
Giggling slightly, Yasaka cleared her throat, gaining their attention.
"The conference will start in an hour." She informed, a serious expression on her face. "Take a shower and meet me in my office."
With a nod, the three went away.
"Do you think the meeting will go well?" Hokori asked her.
"I don't know Hokori-san…all we can do is hope and see what will happen." She replied, looking at the sky thoughtfully.
Entering Yasaka's office, Kunou, Kuroka and Keith looked at the fox woman whose expression was solemn.
"Are you three ready?" She asked. Seeing them nod, she conjured a magical circle and in a moment, they were gone.
Once they appeared in the room where the peace conference was held, Keith was surprised to see everyone staying so calm near one another, all their feuds seemingly forgotten.
The leaders of the three Biblical factions were sitting silently at a round table, Sirzechs Lucifer and Serafall Leviathan, two of the four Great Satans were accompanied by Grayfia Lucifuge, Sirzechs' wife and Queen. The two Satans had a relaxed posture, while the maid's face betrayed no emotions.
On the opposite sides of the table, Azazel was slumped in a chair, a carefree expression on his face with his twelve black wings spread out, while the White Dragon Emperor was leaning against a wall, bored out of his mind. On his right stood the archangel Michael and Gabriel, his sister, two of the four Great Seraphs with Irinia Shidou staying closely behind them.
The two seraphs were a marvel to behold: Michael was a handsome-looking man with long blond hair, kind green eyes and was dressed in a red robe with a gold cross on the lower front and golden shoulder plates with a white sash. While his wings weren't spread out, a golden halo was set above his head.
Gabriel was known as the most beautiful woman in Heaven, and rightfully so: her blonde hair was longer than Michael's, cascading her back like a waterfall, her eyes were a mesmerizing blue and she was dressed in pure white robes which managed to somewhat hide her voluptuous figure. Similar to her brother, her wings were hidden, but a halo was seemingly floating above her head.
Keith had to force himself not to stare at the female Angel, something which he found a bit harder than he thought since she was looking at him intently, her rosy lips forming a warm smile, which made him gulp, a tint of red slowly creeping unto his cheeks.
Seeing this, Kunou's eyebrow began to twitch. She cleared her throat, making Keith shake his head.
"Ahah…sorry." He whispered with a bashful smile. She returned the smile but took his hand in hers to show others (mainly the women) that he was her mate.
"My, Kunou-chan, jealous much, nya?" Kuroka teased softly with a giggle.
Before she could respond, Sirzechs spoke.
"Welcome Yasaka-san and company." Sirzechs said with a small smile.
"Thank you for having us." The fox Youkai bowed her head, Keith and his two mates following her. She took a seat on Sirzechs' right, while Keith, Kunou and Kuroka remained standing behind her.
"It has been a while Yasaka-chan." Gabriel greeted with a warm smile.
"Indeed it has Gabi-chan." The fox said, returning the smile.
"You are as beautiful as ever Yasaka." Azazel said with a smirk. "What would you say if, after this whole peace thing ends, you and me-"
"it is still a no Azazel." She deadpanned at him, making him pout and grumble. This elicited a giggle from Serafall as well as Gabriel.
It didn't take long until Rias and her peerage, bar Koneko, entered the room, with Sona and her Queen in tow. As soon as his eyes fell on Vali, Issei stopped briefly and looked at him in shock before moving in a row with others. He turned to look at Keith who smiled and waved.
Kuroka noticed her sister was not with the others, making her frown but decided to remain silent for now.
"Allow me to introduce them." Sirzechs began. "This is my sister and her peerage who, if I may say so, did very well in their recent battle with Kokabiel."
"We appreciate your efforts." Michael said with gratitude.
"Sorry about that." Azazel said nonchalantly, resting his cheek in his fist. "Kokabiel got a little out of hand."
"Nice seeing you have manners." Issei muttered sarcastically.
"Seeing as everyone is here, I believe we can begin the conference." Sirzechs said.
First, the crimson-haired Satan had Rias relate the events that happened regarding Kokabiel, with Sona testifying that everything she had said was nothing but the truth.
"Thank you Rias-chan, Sona-chan." Serafall said cheerfully.
"I would like to hear the General of the Fallen Angels' opinion on Rias' report." Sirzechs looked at Azazel.
"Kokabiel acted alone." The Fallen shrugged. "I had nothing to with him."
"So you weren't involved?" Michael asked with a small tinge of doubt in his voice.
"Not at all." Azazel shook his head. "I just waited to see what he was up to. Apparently, he never expected me to be in this town personally." He smirked. "I quite like this place, good for fishing."
"Can you please stay on the topic?" Sirzechs requested.
"Sure, sure." He waved him off, then pointed behind him with his thumb. "I sent the White Dragon Emperor to take care of him! Kokabiel is locked in the darkest depths of Cocytus, so he won't see him again anytime soon."
"While that is reassuring." Gabriel began. "We are more interested in his motives for even coming here."
"Indeed." Michael nodded. "He said that he was not content about your decisions."
"Ah, that." Azazel sighed. "He was more than mad because I decided to pull out of the Great War since we 'could have won'. Ha! The fool…I have not even the slightest interest in war."
"So he was unstable." Serafall deduced.
"One could say so." The Fallen said, then looked at Yasaka. "However he didn't act alone, did he?"
The fox remained silent throughout the talk until now. Everyone turned their attention towards her.
"He didn't." She agreed. "He was helped…by Heracles." Everyone's expressions turned darker. She then looked at Kunou, Kuroka and lastly at Keith with a small smile. "These three fought valiantly against him, a God, and won." She said, pride evident in her speech.
"But…why would he even join Kokabiel?" Michael asked. "I never thought the son of Zeus was a warmonger."
"It wasn't a war he wanted, nya," Kuroka informed, all eyes turning to her making her blush slightly. "When we asked him why did he ally himself with Kokabiel…he merely said that he wanted to kill Sirzechs Lucifer-sama, nya."
The Super Devil hummed.
"Why?" That was all he asked.
"He thought that by killing you, his father would place him on the Olympian council." Kunou replied.
"As if." Azazel snorted.
"How did you manage to defeat him?" Gabriel asked, looking at the two Youkais.
"It wasn't us." Kumou said with a grin, then looked at the human near her with adoration. "It was Kei-kun!"
Sirzechs blinked, Serafall had stars in her eyes, Michael and Gabriel sported shocked expressions, and Azazel…Azazel began to laugh.
"Ahahaha!" He wiped an imaginary tear. "I can't even imagine how bad you must have hurt his pride kid!"
"I didn't do it alone." Keith retorted, feeling uncomfortable with everyone staring at him. "Kunou and Kuroka helped me a lot."
After the two Angels got over their shock, Michael inclined forward in his chair.
"I don't mean to look down upon you or your strength…but how did you, a human, defeat a God?" He was more curious than anything else since Rias' report only showed her fight with Kokabiel. Gabriel was as, if not more interested than her brother.
Keith hesitated as he looked at Yasaka. Seeing her nod, he turned to the Angel.
"I…managed to unlock the Balance Breaker of the True Longinus." He said calmly.
If the revelation that Keith succeeded in defeating Heracles was hard to believe, this information rendered the whole room speechless. The silence was so thick one could cut it with a knife.
"Impossible…" Azazel murmured. "You mean to tell me…that you unlocked something nobody ever saw?"
"He did." Yasaka replied with a solemn tone, eyeing every leader carefully in case they wanted to attack Keith.
"How?" Gabriel asked, her voice soft, making him stiffen.
"You don't have to tell them Kei-kun." Kunou told him gently, rubbing his cheek with her hand. Kuroka nodded, taking his hand into hers and squeezing reassuringly.
Gulping, he smiled at his girlfriends before steeling his nerves. Talking about death wasn't easy, especially if it was your own.
"By dying." He rasped out, his throat suddenly very dry.
"W-What?" The female Angel almost choked.
He explained briefly how he saved Kunou's life by taking Heracles' attack.
"An admirable sacrifice." Sirzechs nodded his head.
"But…if the kid died…then how's he alive right now?" Azazel asked the million-dollar question. At this, everyone looked at Keith intently, including Rias, her peerage and even Vali.
Taking in a deep breath, he schooled his features and said.
"God brought me back."
Again, silence, until...
"WHAT?!" Michael all but shouted. "Y-You met Father?"
"I did." Keith nodded. He then proceeded to explain what happened: from waking up in a dark place to meeting God and his explanation about the True Longinus' Balance Breaker.
Everyone stood silent while he talked, some with their mouths hanging wide open.
"He also asked me to tell you that he loves you very much and that he is very proud of all of you." He grinned at Michael and Gabriel, the former smiling while the latter began to cry softly, her brother hugging her gently.
"Thank you Keith Nakamura-san." Michael said with gratitude. "We are happy to hear that and we are convinced that Father, wherever he is right now, is still watching over us."
Gabriel was more straightforward in her thanks as he got up and all but jumped over the table and hugged Keith tightly while muttering 'thank you' over and over again.
For his part, Keith was trying to remain as calm as possible since he could feel the Seraph's -ahem- assets squishing against him through her robes.
'I never thought Angels could be so big.' He mused inside his head. He quickly felt three pairs of eyes burning holes through his skull as Kunou, Kuroka and Yasaka (for whatever reason) were glaring at him.
What fault did he have?! She was the one who hugged him! Well…it was true that he did return the hug, but that shouldn't be such a big deal…right?
The others had different reactions: Vali seemed amused, Irina, Rias and her peerage thought the action was cute, Michael and Sizechs smiled, Serafall was glowering at her supposed 'rival' while Azazel and Issei were crying and cursing Keith's name, something about 'handsome powerful bastards' but he honestly didn't pay much attention. Ah yes, and Grayfia was the only one who was indifferent about it.
"Ahem!" Yasaka coughed, making Gabriel aware of her actions. She blushed up a storm as soon as she realized who it was she was hugging, as well as the fact that she could feel his muscles through the fabric of his clothes.
"A-Ah…s-sorry Nakamura-san." She said shyly and let go of him.
He cleared his throat. "N-No problem Gabriel-san."
"Bah, I can't believe he got a hug from the most beautiful woman in Heaven." Azazel grumbled. "Oi kid! Did God say anything about me?" He asked with a smirk.
"Nope!" The reply quickly made the Fallen deflate.
"Are you serious? Nothing at all?" Seeing Keith shake his head, Azazel threw his hand up. "Damn old man! I wasn't that bad!"
"You tried to grope every female Angel in Heaven as soon as you fell." Michael deadpanned.
"And not to mention that you tried to sell, at a very exaggerated price may I add, Father's clothes to humans under the pretext that they were 'miracle-inducing clothes'." Gabriel added.
Azazel huffed. "Ah fuck this, let's make peace already." He crossed his hands over his chest. "Oh don't look at me like that. You were going to offer that yourselves weren't you?" He pointed at Sirzechs and Michael.
"W-We were but I never expected you to be this eager." The crimson Satan admitted. Michael nodded.
"Hmph." He snorted. "This stand-off we three are currently in is nothing but bad news for this world." He shrugged.
"I must agree with Azazel." The Archangel said. "Even though the ones who started this war, God and the Satans, are gone, after all."
"However, we do have three individuals here who, although not part of our stand-off, have the powers to change the world." Azazel said, then looked at Keith. "One more so than the others."
"Are you insinuating something, Azazel?" Yasaka asked, her eyes glowing.
"Not at all." He waved her off. "However, I would like your input on this peace."
"As long as I get to fight strong guys, I don't care." Vali smirked at Keith. "That includes you, Holy Emperor, Keith Nakamura."
Narrowing his eyes, the human looked at the half-Devil unflinchingly, making his smirk grow.
"Well, you don't need a war for that." The Fallen said.
"Of course not." Vali nodded.
What about you, Red Dragon Emperor?" Azazel stared at Issei, awaiting his answer.
"Uh…everything here is a little too much to process…" He smiled bashfully while Asia and Akeno giggled.
"Well then…" Azazel smirked with his eyes closed. "Let me break it down for you." He opened his violet eyes, looking straight at the teen. "Issei Hyoudou, if we are at war, you can kiss your sleeping with Rias Gremory goodbye."
"Wha-" Rias looked at the Governor General shocked.
"However," He raised a finger. "if we declare peace, survival and propagation of the species become the priority!"
"W-What did you just say?!" Issei didn't hear such beautiful words in his entire life. "Propagation of the species." He had a perverted grin on his face along with a blush.
"Such a simple boy, nya." Kuroka giggled.
"Yeah." Kunou joined her.
Keith just chuckled.
"That's right." Azazel continued. "Every night, you and Rias Gremory could be making babies."
"You dare!" Rias yelped with an atomic blush on her face, looking incredulous at the Fallen.
"Peace would offer you the chance to make babies every day, while if there is war, you'll be making none." He smirked. "That's simple, isn't it?"
His smirk turned into a full-blown grin at Issei's face of revelation.
"I want peace!" He declared. "Peace is good! I want to make love with Buchou!"
The other residents of the room were amused by his words, while Rias was beet red.
"Um…Issei-san." Yuuto smiled. "Sirzechs-sama is present, you know?"
The mentioned Satan was laughing softly in his chair, while his wife merely sighed.
The teen froze with his hand upwards and his large grin still on his face.
'Shit! I can't believe I said all that out loud!' He lamented in his thought.
'Hmph, idiot.' Ddraig snorted.
"Anyway!" He quickly recovered. "I am going to use my powers only for Buchou and my friends!" He smirked confidently. "That I swear."
Rias' blush subsided and she smiled at him.
"Glad to hear." Azazel was pleased, then turned to Keith. "And now…we saved the best for last." He interlocked his fingers and rested his chin on them. "What about you, Holy Emperor? How does the idea of peace strike you?"
Keith kept his eyes fixed on the Fallen's for a few moments, then looked around the room seeing everyone staring at him.
"Why would your peace have anything to do with me?" He finally asked. "I am part of the Youkai Faction."
"Yes, you are." Azazel nodded. "But, seeing as you are the first to ever unlock the Balance Breaker of the strongest Sacred Gear ever created, I believe your input is important."
"War would only bring suffering, despair, hate and loss." He began after a few moments of silence. "While peace will be rocky at the beginning, it will always be the best answer." He said sagely. "After all, why make war when you can make peace." He smirked. "Right?"
The Fallen chuckled but agreed nonetheless.
"Red Dragon Emperor, you mentioned that you wanted to ask me something." Michael said kindly.
"Yes sir." Issei said after steeling himself. "It's about Asia…" He looked earnestly. "Why did you banish her?"
The girl in question gasped and looked at him in astonishment.
"Her belief never wavered. She was so faithful, so why was she banished?"
"After God died." Michael began, his eyes sombre. "Only his system remained, something you could call a force that controls protection, mercy and miracles. Since Father is no more, I am trying to keep it running, but only barely, so of course…I had to remove all those who could cause it to malfunction."
"So because Asia could heal both Devils and Fallen Angels…" Issei trailed off.
"I had no choice but to banish her." The Archangel continued, a pained expression on his face.
"Our believers' devotion is what keeps us going." Gabriel picked up, placing a comforting hand on her brother's shoulder. If we had allowed Asia-chan to heal those considered…unholy, the System would have been further damaged." She looked at the girl in sadness.
"Is that the same with me?" Xenovia asked, her voice soft. "Since I have found out about God's passing…"
"Yes." Michael nodded. "We had no choice but to exile you and Asia Argento." He bowed his head. "And for that, we beg for your forgiveness."
"If we had had other alternatives, we would have chosen them without question." Gabriel said solemnly. "We are sincerely sorry."
Irina looked at Xenovia with a shocked expression.
'So she never betrayed us…'
"There is no need for that, Michael-sama, Gabriel-sama." Xenovia said with a smile. "Being a faithful Christian for most of my life, I had some regrets, but now as a Devil…I am happy with my life for now."
"I, too, am happy with my life." Asia came forth with a beaming smile on her face. "Being a Devil helped me find amazing people who I am content to call friends."
"I cannot thank you enough for your forgiving hearts." Michael tilted his head in gratitude.
"It warms my heart to know such kind souls exist." Gabriel added, with a lovely smile on her face.
"Oh yeah, I feel like I also need to apologise since I heard one of my girls tricked and killed that girl over there." Azazel pointed at Asia.
"Don't say it like it doesn't concern you!" Issei growled pacing forward. "Some Fallen Angel woman killed Asia, out of respect for you!"
Azazel hummed and raised an eyebrow at the teen.
"Issei-" Rias put a hand on his arm.
She was cut off when everyone could feel a strange feeling inside of them. In an instant, Yuuto's holy demonic sword appeared in his hand, along with Issei's Boosted Gear and Xenovia's new sword: Galatine, a long double-aged sword modified in Heaven specifically for her.
"Xenovia, that sword!" Irina exclaimed.
"Gabriel-sama met with me while Michael-sama visited Issei. She offered me this sword as a sign of peace." She briefly explained to her. "Since I became a Devil, Durandal no longer accepted me as its wielder."
"What happened?" Issei asked confused.
"Someone stopped time." The Knight of Rias said.
"So it may seem." Azazel agreed. "We weren't affected due to our immense power."
Keith was relieved to see the True Longinus in his hand, glowing with power. He also let out a small sigh when he saw Yasaka, Kunou and Kuroka able to move.
"Hmm. It seems you were protected by your Holy Swords." Vali noted. "And we had our Dragons."
The building shook slightly.
"Are those magicians?" Keith asked, looking out the window.
"What are they even doing here?" Yasaka narrowed her eyes.
"I'm the magical girl here!" Serafall pouted. "Kei-tan tell them!"
"Uh…" The human sweatdropped.
"But…what's causing time to stop?" Michael inquired.
"They forced the half-vampire's Sacred Gear into Balance Breaker." Azazel said.
"Gasper?!" Issei widened his eyes. "Buchou!"
"They dare use my cute servant's power for a terrorist attack." Rias' eyes glowed red. "Unforgivable!"
"We need to save him!" Issei said.
"Teleportation doesn't work though, nya." Kuroka looked outside.
"I left my Rook piece to watch over him." The Gremory heiress informed, making the Nekoshou widen her eyes. Her sister was in danger!
"Castling…that might work." Sirzechs commented.
"We could borrow Sirzechs-sama's power to send you where your Rook is." Grayfia said.
"She can't go alone though." Sirzechs argued.
"I'll go!" Both Kuroka and Issei looked at each other.
"She's my sister, Pawn." The cat Youkai growled. "I will not leave her life in the hands of some newly reincarnated boy whose Sacred Gear barely can boost him 5 times!"
"Kuroka-chan calm down." Kunou told her softly.
"No! I watched from a distance for many years, always worrying about her safety!" Kuroka trembled. "No more. If these magicians even dared to touch her, I will send them to Hell the easy way."
Most people in the room were watching the cat Youkai with sympathetic expressions on their faces.
"Kuroka-san." Issei gulped when she glared at him. "I swear on my life to bring Kone, er, Shirone-chan back to you."
Her rage seemed to diminish, if only slightly, but she was still not convinced.
"Kuroka-san, I promise to you, on my honour as the heiress of the Gremory family, to have Koneko back here safely." Rias said seriously. "These magicians will not escape unscathed."
"Have faith in them Kuroka." Keith's voice seemed to calm her down, almost completely. "I believe they will do as they said." He smiled at her. "You will have your sister in your arms before you know it."
Taking a deep breath, Kuroka nodded.
"I am sorry for my outburst, nya." She spoke softly, looking at Issei.
"Hey, no problem!" He grinned. "These magicians won't know what hit them."
Sirzechs smiled when he saw the conviction on his sister's face.
"Are you two ready?" Hearing their assent, he focused on his powers and a red magic circle appeared under Rias and Issei. A moment later they were gone.
Kuroka was looking anxiously at the ground.
"They will get her back Kuroka-chan." Kunou reassured her.
"Yo Azazel, I think I will go and have a chat with the magicians." Vali rolled his shoulders.
"I expected you to say that earlier." The Fallen chuckled. "Well, have fun!"
Entering his Balance Breaker, Vali flew away.
"Yasaka-san, I know you don't hold much love for either Devils or Fallen Angels." Sirzechs began. "But-"
"We will help you." The kitsune interrupted. "It is better to leave the past behind us and move on in an era with less hatred."
Smiling, the Super Devil nodded.
"Once Rias and her Pawn get hold of Gasper, we will begin our retaliation." Sirzechs said.
"Sirzechs-sama." Grayfia called out after a few moments as a magic circle appeared.
"Ah, good evening, Sirzechs-dono, Serafall-dono." A bespectacled woman came out of the circle, a smirk on her face. She was tall with a voluptuous figure and tanned skin. She wore an extremely low-cut purple dress with high slits which exposed a large portion of her breasts and legs.
"What are you doing here Katerea Leviathan?" Serafall asked surprised.
"Oh, but fake Leviathan-sama…my purpose here is but very simple." She grinned maliciously. "World domination!" Her staff's tip began to glow.
Then a massive explosion engulfed the building, destroying it completely.
A/N: Oh boy…this took a while. Welp! Here is the next chapter! I apologize for the long, long wait and if this chapter is kind of boring…but in my opinion it was necessary to be written just to at least set the scene I think…I thought about writing more but decided ultimately to end it here. The next chapter will have more action than this one and will also not stay as canon as this one, so look forward to that. The reason I didn't update faster: I think you all have seen how shitty the site behaved ever since September with it no longer showing how many views one would receive for their stories. And then, the email notifications got busted and nobody would ever get a notification that I even updated, so I decided to wait a bit until it got fixed. Obviously, it took more than expected, and even now, the notifications don't work how they used to…I do receive notifications when people follow/favourite or write a review but not all the time. Thankfully, I have the FFN application on my phone which helps me with this, so if you haven't received anything yet even now, I recommend getting it since it helps.
Well, let's check the reviews, shall we?
JimmySG0: I am glad you liked it!
Guest: Perhaps…who knows *evil cackle*
Dante687: I agree with everything you've said…I don't know why I thought of even keeping Griselda in the first place…but oh well. From mistakes we learn!
Crimson: Well…not really tbh…since I believe it would be a bit unrealistic if a human would be more powerful than a Super Devil, you know? I don't know yet, maybe he will be able to fight Sirzechs 1 on 1 for some time, but more powerful than him? Nah. Not in this story.
plums: Alright, oh boy, I know probably you won't see this anymore since apparently you probably stopped reading, so I will be brief, I do agree with some of the points you're making such as Keith not having a good reason to help Asgard, that I let Diodora live (I do plan to take care of him in the future so that's that) or that he would help Tiamat with her stuff, but the way intended to write Keith was to have him try to at least help people out when they needed it. I realize that my approach to that was poorly done, but what's done is done. Also, since this is fanfiction, who said that the only way to revive someone was to turn them into a Devil? And the reason my A/Ns are so long mostly is because I answer to reviews so *shrug*.
Guest: Huh, I never thought about having Kunou and Kuroka travel to the land of the dead of some god honestly, but not a bad idea for future stories!
Guest: Initially I wanted to have both Kunou and Keith go with Kuroka to the open house, but meh, I decided not to since I didn't find it that important.
T-B-R: Still a human. He won't be turning into anything else. Regarding Keith's squishiness…well he is still just a human, even though he received a blessing from God. That, coupled up with the Balance Breaker of the True Longinus should make him more durable.
Guest: Yup! The idea of Keith meeting God inside the True Longinus loomed in my head ever since I started this story.
DeluxeHipster1945: Thank you mate! I will try!
IsakDemn: She is definitely in.
Guest: Yup, everything's alright. I explained why I didn't update in the A/N, but briefly put, I didn't update faster because the website was whacky ever since September.
Sid99: Thanks mate.
All these being said…I apologize for the long wait and if this chapter is meh…the next one should have more action and stuff.
I also apologize if there are any grammatical or spelling mistakes!
Stay safe & sound!
