Chapter 19: Think Hard, Train Harder
I woke up with Serena wrapped in my arms. I look around, but slowly to not wake her up. I looked out the window with the sun shining, but barely above the horizon. It was sure bright. I then look over to Pikachu and Greninja where Pikachu was sleeping soundly on Greninja. I looked at the clock. It read 6:31. Wow I'm up kind of early. But that means I can get prepared much earlier to train. I slowly got out of bed to make sure not to wake up anyone. I went into the bathroom and looked into the mirror. Man did I look like a hot mess. My raven hair was all over the place. I went back out into the room and quietly grabbed my clothes and went back into the bathroom and shut the door. I got into the shower and my thoughts just let loose while I was in there. Just about this whole war. There is so much that will be going on. And then there's me. I have the form with Greninja, have some very strong and reliable Pokémon with me, and of course my aura which I can feel grow stronger by the day. If it is true that I could potentially be able to create barriers and create attacks, it could really turn the war. We'll have to see though if it'll even come to that. But if I let them know I have the ability to use aura, they could use it against me. So if I do ever have the chance to create barriers and attacks, it should only be in the event where someone's life or a Pokémon's life is at stake. My mind begins to wander on the times I've encountered the evil organizations from other regions. Like Team Rocket with Meloetta or Team Aqua and Team Magma trying to awaken both Kyogre and Groudon. Or Team Plasma trying to awaken Reshiram. It gets me to think about the fact that all organizations involved a Pokémon of sorts to complete their plan. And Team Flare is using Zygarde to complete their plan. And they will get stopped. I then wonder ahead of time thinking about the Kalos League. I have to win at all costs. It's time I win a Pokémon League after the last 5 leagues have been a failure. Sinnoh was the closest I got until the writers decided to screw me over with Tobias and then made me a complete joke in the Unova Region (sorry I know I know, 4th wall break, but like I gotta include the joke for all you hardcore Ash Ketchum fans XD). But this time I know I got it. With my Pokémon on my side I know I can accomplish virtually anything. But of course before I can focus on that the Kalos Disaster is what I need to focus on. It'll be here in 3 days and there isn't a minute I can waste. I have to train and become stronger just like everyone else. I will become stronger. I snap out of my thoughts as I realize I've probably been in here for more than 15 minutes. I turn off the water and dry myself. I put on my clothes and look at myself im the mirror. And to my surprise I see a blue shield around me. It's not a shield. I quickly realize that's my aura. It is said your aura is extremely strong and well developed when it begins to be visible to the naked eye. I wipe my eyes to make sure I'm not still sleepy, but it remains. A bright blue light surrounding me. I look at my hands as I can see and feel the aura course through me. Then subconsciously, I form my hands together so that a spherical shape is made in the air and it's when I see a ball of light begin to appear and grow bigger and bigger in size. It becomes bigger than a softball nearly 2 times the size, and then it clicks into me what this is. It's an Aura Sphere. Or maybe a human equivalent of one at least. I needed to put it away I don't know what kind of damage it's capable of, but I'm sure it's devastating. I then tell my body to make the aura around me to die down and to my surprise it listens. The blue light then dissipates and I'm left staring at myself in the mirror wondering if that really happened. I snap out of it and look at the clock that's above the toilet. It read 7:08. I wonder if the others are awake. I finish up by brushing my teeth and putting on deodorant and walked out the bathroom turning off the light. I see Greninja awake with Pikachu lying beside him sleeping. But Serena was still asleep.
"Good morning Ash." He said slightly groggily.
"Good morning Greninja. How did you sleep?" I asked him.
"I slept pretty decent all things considering. How about you?" He asked me sitting up in the bed.
"Good enough to go for today. Lots of training awaits us." I said. He nods.
"I would like to learn my 6th move. Maybe Hydro Pump or Hydro Cannon." He said.
"Hydro Pump would probably be more viable as it won't tire you out as much." I said. He nods while pondering it.
"Yeah you're right. Well Hydro Pump it is then." He said with a grin.
"Definitely." I say returning with a smile. He then gets off the bed which causes Pikachu to stir in his sleep. But I guess it was enough to wake him because he opened up his eyes.
"Hey buddy. I hope you slept well." I said. He yawns.
"I would greatly appreciate it if I could sleep some more." He said with slight chuckle.
"I think we all would hahaha." I said laughing. Well that leaves Serena the only one asleep right now.
"Should we wake her up?" Greninja asks facing her.
"Nah she can sleep a little longer. We should prepare to leave soon." I said. They both nod. It's then I hear a voice in my head.
"Chosen One. Come meet Olympia and I at the gym." It was Mewtwo. Guess it knows I'm awake. Which for the record is kind of creepy. But it can probably tell if I was asleep or awake. Still doesn't change the fact that it's a little creepy.
"Greninja we should go. Mewtwo wants us at the gym." I said.
"Alright." He said as he stood up.
"Wake Pikachu again. I'm gonna let Serena know that I'm leaving." I said. He nods and chuckles as he looks at Pikachu who passed out again. He then goes to pick up Pikachu. I walked over to Serena.
"Hey Serena, baby." I said while lightly nudging her. She's so cute when she sleeps.
"Hmm." She groaned tiredly as she then opens up her eyes squinting them.
"Oh hey Ashy. Did you sleep well?" She asked groggily.
"I did. I just wanted to let you know I'm gonna be heading to the gym Mewtwo wants me there with it and Olympia." I said.
"Ok Ashy. I'll be there soon I'm gonna sleep a little more ok?" She asked already falling back asleep. I lightly chuckle.
"Ok baby see you soon. Sleep well." I said as I kissed her on the cheek and she gave a happy groan with a smile on her face. I smile and look at her for a second as I then walk back to Greninja who held Pikachu who was awake. Again.
"Ughhh why do we have to prepare for a war?" Pikachu groaned tiredly. I laugh a bit.
"It's ok buddy that was my thought process when I woke up." I said laughing. He didn't seem amused, but I could tell he was laughing on the inside. More like sense. I then grabbed my backpack and headed out the door. We then walked across the street and to the gym.
"I'm outside." I mentally told Mewtwo. Don't how I did that, but I will just go with it. I sensed it being taken aback in my mind as it then told me they were coming. A few seconds later the door cracked open and I then walked inside. I walked to the battlefield area where the huge dining style table was. I saw Mewtwo and Olympia on the stage. They were talking about my aura. But when they saw me they stopped. I walked up to them.
"Chosen One. We have much to discuss before everyone else gets here." Mewtwo said as it met me in the center of the stage.
"I have a slight feeling it's about my aura." I said. It didn't seem taken aback this time to my surprise. I guess it expected me to say something like that.
"Well that and you and your Greninja as well." Olympia said as Mewtwo nodded it's head. I should probably tell them what happened earlier.
"Alright well where do we begin?" I asked.
"Well to start off I sensed a strong power not that long ago. Something I've never felt before." Mewtwo said. Well I guess what happened earlier wasn't a surprise. I was slightly surprised that it could sense that.
"I think my aura is starting to become even stronger now. After I took a shower I looked at myself in the mirror and saw a blue almost like a shield surrounding me. And I was able to conjure my first I guess Aura Sphere." I said. Both of them looked at each other shocked.
"Wow you really are like his great-grandfather." Olympia said slightly amazed. I just shrugged.
"Possibly even stronger and better." Mewtwo said.
"Ash your aura could play a key part in this war." Olympia said. I honestly don't know about that. It could so conversely be their greatest weapon against us.
"Maybe it's best if I refrain from using it as much as possible." I said. Mewtwo and Olympia looked at me confused.
"Why is that Chosen One?" Mewtwo Asked.
"What if they make me a priority? I mean I am kind of one of kind right now." I said. They looked at each other.
"Well that is true. Maybe you're right. Let's wait and see though." Olympia said. I nod. I then sense someone outside.
"Someone's here." I said.
"Don't worry I believe it's your girlfriend you have there that's out there." Mewtwo said teasingly. I just facepalmed as I then walked to the door. When I got there it began to open. And there she was. Serena. She was in her normal attire, but she looked stunning.
"What like something you see?" She said while sticking out her tongue. I just walked up to her and kissed her. She, to my surprise, was expecting it, and kissed back immediately. We sat there at the entrance kissing for what seems like eternity, until I opened up my eyes to see all of the champions there. I immediately pulled back and she opened her eyes wondering what was going on. When she saw what I was looking at she turned around and was shocked and her face immediately turned red. Man this is probably the most embarrassed I've ever been. Both of our faces were red as Cheri berries as the champions looked on smiling and snickering in a teasingly way. She looks at me and we smile cheekily towards each other embarrassed out of our minds.
Time Change
After the champions and Serena and I came in, more and more people trickled in as well. We all went out back to the huge training field where we trained yesterday. And it was time to get back to it again. It was nearly 8 and everyone was wide awake. It was time to get this show on the road. I went over to Mewtwo who was standing near the entrance.
"So Mewtwo." I said.
"Yes Chosen One." It said letting me know I have it's attention.
"So you said you wanted to talk about Greninja and I as well. What was it that you wanted to talk about?" I asked it.
"About the transformation. So I've overheard that you say that sometimes you feel like you've synchronized with Greninja and can acquire his vision at will. Is that true?" It asked me.
"Yeah it is. It's interesting that's for sure. It's something I've never felt or accomplished before." I said back.
"I see. You also seem to share the pain too correct?" It asked curiously.
"Yeah. I guess that's part of being "as one" I'm sure." I said. It just nodded its head.
"Hmmm. Well we should exercise caution when in the war. But if you could see through Greninja's eyes that may be important." It said.
"That's true. He could go scout out and I can report what he sees." Mewtwo nodded agreeing with me.
"You are correct. Well do you have anything you want to say to the people as they're still coming in?" It asked. I looked out onto the floor where people were congregating and I thought for a second.
"I do," I said after a few seconds.
"I have an alpha version of a plan. But now that I think about it, I think I'll wait until our training day ends." I continued.
"Well Olympia and I would love to hear. So we'll be waiting." It said with slight happiness. I smile slightly.
"Alright Mewtwo sounds good. Let's get to training shall we?" I ask.
"Yes Chosen One let's train." It said and we both nod and head off in our own direction.
"Hey Ash." Pikachu called out on my shoulder.
"Hey buddy what's up?" I asked him.
"Do you think I could battle Greninja maybe? I wanna improve on my speed and reflexes and he's the perfect candidate to help me." Greninja's eyes lit up as Pikachu said that.
"That's a great idea Pikachu. I'd be ok with that." Greninja said enthusiastically. This got me hyped.
"Hey buddy you've got yourself a deal! That's perfect! Let's go find a spot real quick so we can train." I said excited as we began searching for an open battlefield.
Mini Time Change...
After a few minutes of searching I found a open battlefield that was tuckered off near the back of the open area. It was actually kind of remote. There were a couple gym leaders such as Claire and Volkner that were somewhat close to me, but still far away enough to where I would have to raise my voice to get their attention. I wonder how they have been doing. I'll worry about that later. I went to one side of the battlefield and pulled out 4 other Pokéballs and tossed them into the air.
"Come on out guys!" I yell as I threw them and they all came out.
"Welcome back! Today we'll be training harder than ever so keep up what you did yesterday! I'm gonna train with Greninja and Pikachu so if you guys wanna spar or increase stamina or practice moves do whatever you can to make sure you fit your training needs! I'll be right here if you need anything." I said excitedly. Everyone just nodded happily just waiting to go off on their own.
"Alright you guys go train and get stronger!" I said with enthusiasm. And with one collective happy yell we all went our separate ways. Hawlucha and Talonflame went to increase their stamina while Charizard and Infernape went to train their fire type moves. I then focus my attention on Greninja and Pikachu.
"Ok you two how would you like to approach this? Even though we are training for big things coming up we still have to think smarter, not harder." I said. Greninja laughed a little.
"C'mon Ash it should be the opposite considering the circumstances. How about think hard, train harder? You're still thinking hard but in the end you're training harder." He Said. Dang. He got me there. I looked at him and smiled a bit.
"Ok touché Greninja." I said grinning.
"Ok Ash. Maybe Greninja can use a bunch of double teams so I can use them as like an aim trainer to increase my reaction speed." Pikachu said. See now that's thinking hard.
"Now that's smart. Alright Greninja now let's go! Go to the middle of the battlefield and use Double Team!" I command and Greninja did just that as he went to the middle and made a couple dozen copies of himself and then returned by dashing to my side.
"Now Pikachu use Thunderbolt to wipe them out!" I say as Pikachu then jumps into the air and unleashes a powerful Thunderbolt and began wiping out the copies. He did them quick. About 8 seconds but I know he can do it quicker. And I know how.
"How was that Ash?" He asked facing me.
"That was awesome! But I think I know how you can improve the reaction time." I said. Pikachu's ears perked up.
"Ooo I wanna hear!" He said as he listened.
"Try to make your body smaller by tucking in your tail more. It'll make it easier and quicker for you to turn your body." I said. He ponders on that.
"Hmmm that does sound like a good idea. Ok I'll try. Let's do it again!" He said enthusiastically which just got me more fueled.
"Alright Greninja use Double Team!" I say.
"With pleasure." He said as he created a few more dozen copies of himself and comes back to my side. Pikachu used Thunderbolt again and this time tucked his tail in more and boy oh boy did it make a difference. His time was cut in half and that was perfect.
"That felt awesome! How'd I do that time?" He asked as we ran back over to me.
"Buddy you smashed it awesome job!" I said happily as I gave him a high five.
"Thank you Ash. I'll have to keep practicing that so I can improve even more!" Ok now I wanna work on my speed. More specifically my Quick Attack." He said.
"Ok you got it buddy." This is a perfect time to use Me First. I look at Greninja.
"Greninja let's put that move to the test." I told him. He nods. He walks out onto the battlefield and they both face each other.
"Ok Greninja! Use Me First for Quick Attack!" I command. He then focuses on Pikachu and then a white outline surrounds him as I know he did it.
"Ok now start running around the field fast!" I say.
"You got it." He said back as he did just that. He was a lot faster than when Pikachu used it. I don't know if that's just the effect and power being increased like Mewtwo said or it was him, but he was fast.
"Alright now Pikachu you use Quick Attack and chase him!" I say.
"Here goes!" He said as he then uses the move and chases him. I can immediately see that he won't catch up to Greninja, but I can see why. He's taking shorter strides when he jumps off his hind legs.
"Alright Pikachu extend your strides from your hind legs! It'll make you go faster!" I yell out.
"Sounds good!" He yells back. He did that and immediately a difference was seen. But something was different. He then vanished and appeared right in front Greninja which made Greninja's eyes widen and he tried to stop, but couldn't. Pikachu slammed into him and he flew back towards me. I look on in shock. And then I realized that wasn't a Quick Attack.
"Well that was awesome." Greninja grunted slightly in pain and he then got back up. Pikachu came back to me. We both laughed a little.
"Greninja are you ok?" He asked a little concerned.
"Yeah I'm ok. That was a powerful Quick Attack though. And speedy too." He said with a smile.
"Except that wasn't a Quick Attack. That was ExtremeSpeed." I said. They both look at me shocked.
"Wow I just learned ExtremeSpeed?! Alright let's go!" Pikachu yelled.
"Yeah good job buddy! You never cease to amaze me and make me proud!" I said with a cheeky smile. He comes and jumps onto my shoulder.
"Thank you buddy! You too! Ima take a slight rest. Let's see what the others are up to." He says. That's a good idea.
"Sounds good. Let's go Greninja. Let's go find the others and see what they've been up to with their training." I said. They both nodded as we began walking back.
Mini Time Change
We walked for a few minutes when I saw that the rest of my Pokémon were on Serena's battlefield. Hawlucha and Talonflame were sparring with Drain Punch and Steel Wing respectively, and Infernape and Charizard were clashing their Flamethrowers together. Serena was working with Delphox on making her flames stronger and her Pancham was practicing a Cross Chop on a rock. Bonnie was sitting and watching and Squishy was observing as well. Clemont was there, but he was still working on the necklaces. Man I have to thank him a lot for doing this. Serena saw me out of the corner of her eyes and her eyes lit up. I blush at that. Delphox sees Greninja and she blushes and looks down twiddling with her stick. Greninja looked down also a little shy. Serena came up to me and kissed me. But this time on the lips. That surprised me a bit, but soon I went into it. We kissed for a few moments before we both pulled away. I looked behind her to see Bonnie snickering. I look at Serena. She smiled at me and stuck out her tongue which made me blush and laugh and she did as well. Greninja went up to Delphox and hugged her and man were they blushing harder than a Cheri berry.
"Soooo how was training with you Pokémon Ashy?" Serena asked me.
"Not bad. Pikachu learned ExtremeSpeed which is incredible. Isn't that right buddy?" I asked as I petted him as he was on my shoulder.
"Yes it is. I feel mighty proud." He said and I laughed a little bit. I walk to Clemont and notion Serena to follow me.
"Hey Clemont! How's everything going?" I asked him. He looked up and smiled at me.
"Hey Ash. Pretty good actually. I installed everything so the necklaces are ready. I'm making more for anyone else who wants to have them. They were really easy to make actually." He said. He pulls out a small case from his backpack and hands it to me.
"Those are your necklaces. All 7 of them are in there." He said. I opened them up and sure enough they were in there.
"Awesome! Thank you Clemont I appreciate it so much!" I said very gratefully.
"My pleasure Ash." He said back. I took out the necklaces and gave one to Pikachu. Greninja saw this and came up to me.
"Are these the necklaces?" He asked.
"Yeah they are. They're very small and discreet so all you have to do is wear it." I said as I handed one to him.
"Wow these are small." He said as he puts it around his neck.
"Hey you guys I got something for you!" I said to my other Pokémon who were out on the field training. They all came over.
"What are those Ash?" Infernape asked.
"They're gonna help us in this war," I said enthusitically.
"Charizard you remember in Unova when Team Plasma had the whole mind control devices?" I asked.
"Yeah what about them?" He asked. I told him about how Team Plasma will be in this war. He looked at me a little in shock, but to my surprise he expected it.
"Well that's new. Let me guess those necklaces you got are to prevent us from being mind controlled huh?" He asked.
"You're on the money. Here you all get one." I say as I gave the remainder to them and kept one for myself. They all put it on and I do the same.
"Why do you have to wear one Ash?" Talonflame asked.
"Because when Greninja and I do the form there's a possibility that if he were to get affected then I would too. And in the event if either of us has one of the necklaces broken then we could still be under control." I said.
"Ohhh that makes sense." He said back. I nod.
"So what have you guys been working on?" I ask.
"We've been working on our speed. I know I can't exactly fly, but when I glide I am much smoother and faster at it." Hawlucha said.
"Hey that's awesome Hawlucha! I can't wait to see that!" I said.
"I learned this new move, but I don't know what it's called." Charizard said. I looked at him confused and surprised.
"Really? Can I see?" I asked him. He nodded.
"Hold on I got this." Greninja said as he dashed onto the battlefield and used Double Team and came back.
"Awesome! Thanks Greninja." I said.
"Not a problem." He said back.
"Ok here goes." Charizard said as he stepped up and then used the move he was talking about. It looked like Will O' Wisp, but the flame was bright red and much bigger. When it reached the middle of the battlefield it then caused a huge shockwave of heat which I could feel and a massive tower of flames erupted. I looked on in awe as the Double Teams were wiped out by the heat and power. When the flames died down some people came to see what the commotion was. Serena, Clemont and Bonnie all looked surprised and a little scared by the move.
"Uhhh Charizard that was amazing! What was that?!" I said. He just shrugged saying that it was nothing. I laugh at his nonchalantness.
"I was honestly just messing around with my Flamethrower, and then an idea of how to make it delayed and go upwards just popped up and somehow I got that." He said pointing where he did the move.
"Ash what was that?" Serena asked walking up to me still shocked.
"I don't know Charizard said it was a new move he learned. He doesn't know what it is." I said. Mewtwo floated over.
"Chosen One. What was that? I was a couple fields away with Olympia when I saw a huge, blazing tower of flames erupt. The heat was intense." It asked a little confused and shocked.
"I have no clue. Charizard said he just learned it. He doesn't know what it is either." I said.
"Huh. Looks like Charizard has learned a move that has never been done before." It said back. Some people overheard it and gasped in shock. Alain heard this and came down to the field.
"Ash that's incredible your Charizard is surely something that's for sure." He said amazed.
"Thanks. I don't know what to call it yet." I said sheepishly. I thought for a second. It's a huge, blazing tower of flames which is very hot and powerful. Then it clicked. I got it. Thanks Mewtwo.
"Ash you ok?" Serena asked a little worried. I smirked a little.
"Yeah I'm ok. Just figured out a name to cause that move. Greninja use Double Team!" I said and he nodded as he dashed onto the field with blazing speed and used Double Team and came back to me.
"You gonna do it again?" Mewtwo asked.
"I do. I figured out a name." I said. He nodded as he floated to the sideline with everyone else.
"Charizard. This is your new move! Use Blaze Tower!" I said. His eyes lit up at the name and he smirked as he did just that. He used the move and like before the bright red flame went to the center of Greninja's Double Teams and rose into a huge tower of flames and light releasing a shockwave of heat. Some people shielded their eyes. After a few moments the flames and heat died down and there was not a single Double Team in sight.
"Wow." Alain simply said.
"That's incredible." Olympia said behind me as I turned to her voice.
"Ash you truly are one special person to have Pokémon learning moves never done before." She said amazed. I put my hand behind my head sheepishly.
"Eh it was nothing. It was all Charizard on that one." I said. He grinned at me when I said that.
"Hey you came up with the pretty cool name so you get a little credit." He said. I laughed and so did Mewtwo a little. I turned to Serena.
"Hey babe what time is it?" I ask. She pulls out her tablet.
"It is 3:27." She said. Wow already? Man time has been flying.
"Ok I want to be able to give my speech soon. I have the beginnings of a plan." I said.
"Ooo I wanna hear it. I bet it's good." She said. I smirk a little as Mewtwo comes to me with Olympia.
"Well Chosen One. It looks like to today has been a pretty eventful day." It said to me. I nod.
"Yes it has. I can sense the accomplishment from everyone here so I think work has been done. My Pokémon have gotten stronger as well." I said proudly. It smiles.
"Yes yes. That new move your Charizard used will be useful against them." It said. I nod.
"So Ash. Mewtwo tells me you've come up with a plan?" Olympia asks me. I nod.
"Yeah. Well the start of one at least." I said back.
"That's good. when would you want to tell everyone?" She asked.
"In the next couple of hours. We should train a bit more for sure." I said. She smiles at that.
"Good idea. I'll rally everyone up at around 5:30?" She asked. I nod my head and smiled.
"That sounds like a plan." I said.
"Ok good. Well let's continue our training then. No time to waste." She said.
"You got that right!" I said enthusiastically. I face my Pokémon.
"Alright everyone let's continue our hard work for a little longer! We got this!" I exclaimed pumping my fist.
"Yeah!" They all replied happily. Clemont pulled out his Pokémon and Serena went back to training with hers. I smile as I then walk to my Pokémon. Maybe Greninja was right on think hard, train harder. No matter what we're gonna train. And train as hard as we can.
