Chapter 3-2
Mom is with Mr. Negative right now. Nope, that will not do. But this will work out because as soon as I get Mom away from the F.E.A.S.T. shelter, I'll plant a tracker on Mr. Negative and then kill him later. After that, I'll-
THE SYMBIOTE.
Shit, I forgot about the symbiote tracker on Mom. I told Mom to leave her apartment so the negative Venom and Cindy can't find her but if she still has Venom's tracker on her then Venom can find her. It's okay, I already know how to remove the symbiote. In the meantime…
David looks at Felicia. "I'm heading to F.E.A.S.T. and I'm going to get Mom. I'll also put my tracker on Mr. Negtive. After that, then all we gotta do is wait. Easy peasy."
"I'll look for Venom and Silk," Felicia informs.
"No, I need you to keep an eye on Jameson and Mayor Peletier. If the Demons are after Jameson and the mayor, then you need to keep an eye out. You're good, Felicia, but bad against superhumans."
"My bad luck powers can cause the Venom symbiote to separate from Eddie."
"I'm not saying that you can't help, I'm saying that for right now, while I go rescue Mom, you keep an eye on Jameson and the mayor. If I'm attacked by Venom and Cindy, I'll call you. Hell, I'll even lead them to you if I have to."
Felicia nods. "Okay. I'll get right over to Jameson and the mayor's house immediately."
"Jameson is live on news so you should go to his house and check for any signs of intrusion."
"And as for the mayor, she'll be up in her penthouse, surrounded by five floors of bodyguards. The only way the Demons are going to sneak in is if they corrupt somebody."
"And as long as Martin Li is separated from the Demons, he can't corrupt anybody. He can enhance his men's weaponry but nothing else." He smiles. "Perfect. Seek and destroy." He reaches for a watch he took apart. It has a blinking red light in the center. A red Christmas light from last year. "This is my homemade tracker."
"Better get a move on then."
David and Felicia leave Empire State University and walk in different directions.
Racoon Capital, New York
Albert pants as he stumbles upon the step of the building and runs inside the shelter. He locks the door behind him and looks back. "Help me," he calls out into the dark building, "please, someone help me."
A janitor comes out into the hallway and begins mopping the place up. "Hey, jackass, can't you see I'm busy here?"
"Someone is chasing me, please, help me."
"What the fuck are you talking about?"
"There's a murderer outside, he killed my friend. Please, you have to help me."
"Do I look like a fucking charity ball, fuck off."
"Fuck you," Albert spits, "your fucking funeral."
Albert runs past the janitor and into the common area. As the janitor continues to mop the carpet, another figure opens the door.
"What the fuck does this look like? I just cleaned up these carpets and you pricks are-"
A knife impales the janitor in the chest. The janitor tumbles over, knocking a vase of flowers over, and crawls on the floor.
A tall man with blood around his mouth and fangs sneers at the crawling janitor. "For such a clean guy, you sure made a mess, janitor." The vampire rushes to the janitor and sings his fangs into the man's throat. "I'll make you one of me."
The janitor convulses and pushes the vampire off of him. He spasms before rolling on his back. He looks up and his eyes turn red. He sighs heavily and lets out a deep groan. "Man, this feels so fucking good."
F.E.A.S.T.
"Cut," the director shouts. He claps with a smile. "Nice job everyone, and that was in one take."
The janitor, Drew, picks himself up and turns to his vampire actor. "Nice job there. But you kinda bit me in the end."
The vampire actor winces. "Sorry man, I got really into my role."
"Hey, could be worse. Some people die for their art so a simple nick to the neck is nothing."
"Drew," the director calls out, "that line you improved at the end, I like it. But I think it wasn't executed in the correct scene."
A makeup crew came to tend to the fake blood on Drew's face. Drew continues to talk. "Well, with the direction we're taking our vampires, I thought it would make sense for my character to feel aroused. Also, why is my character such a jackass?"
"Because it's common in horror movies where everyone but the protagonist is a jackass."
"True. But why? If everyone is such a jackass, then won't the audience be rooting for the villains and monsters to kill them?"
"Valid point but hey, I'm not part of the writing team."
"The writing team needs to rework some of the dialogue."
"I agree," the vampire actor agrees. "Honestly, some of the stuff I say makes me wanna cringe."
"If it makes you cringe then improvise but not too often."
David Dante watches from the sidelines.
If this is what the movie's going to look like then this movie is going to suck.
"Davey," Misa calls out and reunites with him. "What are you doing here?"
David shrugs. "Oh, you know, just visiting, taking in the scenery of this cliched horror-comedy movie. Being a test audience, probably."
Misa pulls David aside in the corner so they can talk in private whispering voices. "What's going on?"
He whispers, "I found out that Mr. Negative is someone with connections to F.E.A.S.T. Someone in this building is Mr. Negative."
She narrows her eyes.
"Mr. Negative is the glowing guy who corrupted Eddie and Cindy. The man is in here, in the building."
Her eyes widen. "Who?"
"No, I can't tell you. If I tell you, then you could risk changing up your behavior around this person and that could tip them off and put you in danger."
"Tell me, Davey."
"I won't tell you. Plausible deniability, remember?"
"That doesn't make sense. If you're trying to protect me, then you should tell me who he is so I can avoid him."
"You have to trust me, Mom, I will take care of Mr. Negative."
"What's the point of telling me if you're not going to tell his identity?"
"I came here to get you out of here and I plan to put a tracker on him. Speaking of which, I need you to come outside and go into the car ASAP. I completely forgot about that symbiote tracker, but if you don't want Venom tracking you, use the car radio to force the symbiote off of you. Then trap it in the jar I left in there. After that, I'll drive you out of there. In the meantime, I'm going to plant the tracker."
Misa hesitates to say something before biting her lower lip. "Okay. I trust you."
Misa steps out the front door and goes to the car while David searches around the homeless shelter. David heads upstairs and looks for Martin's office.
Okay then, it's been a while since I've been inside the shelter but if I remember correctly, Mr. Negative's office should be right around here.
David finds Martin's door and listens for any sounds in there. He hears no voices and checks the door. Locked.
He looks around to check for any wandering eyes and once the coast is clear, he removes a paperclip from his pocket and picks the lock in the same way Felicia taught him.
With the door open, David steps through and closes it behind him. He looks around for Martin and finds nothing.
Now, where are you? Come out, come out, wherever you are.
He steps out of the room and locks the door behind him. He turns around and finds a man in a suit wandering past him. He stops the man.
"Excuse me, have you seen Mr. Li by any chance?"
The man looks at him. "Oh, I'm sorry, you just missed him. He had some business to take care of downtown."
"Any idea when he'll be back?"
"Ah no, sorry. Do you need me to give him a message?"
What if this guy is connected to Martin Li himself as more than just an assistant?
"Uh, yes, please. Could you tell him that a young reporter wants to do a story on him and his charity work in helping the homeless?"
"Of course." The man takes out his phone. "And can I have a name please?"
"For who? Me or the reporter?"
"Both."
I have an idea.
"Oh, uh, my name is David Dante. I'm Misa's son, and the reporter is Eddie Brock of the Daily Bugle."
"Thank you." The man writes something on his phone.
"Also, do you think you can give me a schedule of when Mr. Li will be available so I can have my friend call and set up a schedule?"
"Oh yes." The man pulls up a PDF document on his phone. "This is his schedule."
"Okay, let me jot that down real quick." David pulls out his phone and copies the schedule. "Got it, thank you. Oh and, by the way, I never caught your name."
"Oh, it's Carmine."
"Carmine, nice to meet you."
Another man in a suit approaches the two. "Carmine, I hate to interrupt you but our taxi is waiting for us outside."
"Coming Franco."
"Anyway," David speaks up, "thanks a lot for the help, Carmine."
"Anytime, David."
Carmine shakes David's hand and subtly plants the red Christmas lightbulb in Carmine's pocket. David watches as both men leave and narrows hsi eyes at them.
There's something off of about those men. For some reason, Carmine said that Martin Li won't be available for some time, and has no idea when he'll be back from whatever business he has, but when I looked at his phone, it shows that he'll be available at 1:30. Apparently, Martin Li left to take care of business, Carmine has ZERO ideas when he'll be back, but knows fully well about the fact that he'll be available after 1:30. Too many contradictions equals unreliability. If I can't find Martin Li, then I'm going to follow these two guys.
David heads outside and climbs in his car. Misa sits in the passenger seat with a jar the size of a bullet that the symbiote is trapped in.
"Good job, Mom, you're safe now."
"If you say so."
Misa hides it in the glove compartment. She reaches deep inside and her hands reach as far back into the glove compartment as possible. She pulls back, the jar no longer in her hands as she closes the glove compartment. "Did you text Drew some excuse why you're leaving?"
"I already shot my scene so I'm done with the movie and yes. He understood."
"Okay then. I'll drive us out of here."
"Don't you think I should stay here?" Misa asks. "After all, I can't go back home because that place is still a target and I can't stay here at F.E.A.S.T. because Mr. L- Negative is here."
"True."
"And I can't stay in your dorm. So…"
David taps the wheel.
"I'll stay. As long as the camera crew is here and all the other witnesses, then I should be safe, right?"
David nods. "Yeah, you should."
"As long as I stay by people, I won't be harmed. Besides, I'm pretty sure this Mr. Negative person wouldn't attack the F.E.A.S.T. shelter, right?"
"Probably." David reaches for another red Christmas lightbulb in his pocket. "This will be your new tracker. Keep this on you at all times."
"Got it." She takes the lightbulb and closes her hand over it. "Thank you for protecting me, Davey. But, I should be fine staying here."
"In case of an emergency, press that lightbulb twice and I will swing by as fast as I can. But whatever you do, do not leave Drew's side no matter what."
"I won't."
Misa exits the car and waves him off as he drives back.
I'm taking a HUGE risk by letting Mom go but if I want to keep her safe, but if what the map said is true then F.E.A.S.T. shouldn't be a target. Either way, I can't let my guard down. If I'm going to kill Mr. Negative before he kills my mother, then I need to hurry up.
Misa stands on the curb, watching her son drive off in the car before she narrows her eyes. She is wearing long sleeves and she sighs heavily when she removes the symbiote jar with the symbiote.
She narrows her eyes as she stares at the two trackers and bites her lower lip. "I'm sure you have a plan Davey, but I have a plan of my own."
With David
Okay then, now that everything is out of the way, now that Mom is safe, it's time to start focusing on my real enemies. Mr. Negative, Kraven, and my corrupted allies. But before I do that, I need to call Yuri and see what she has on the Demons. Then, I'm going to track those two guys. Carmine and Franco. And then I'm going to need an update from Felicia on what she's figured out on the next targets.
He pulls up to a corner on a busy street and reaches inside the glove compartment to grab the jar, only to find it missing.
"What," he exclaims, "are you kidding me." His eyes open.
Mom.
He smacks the wheel with his teeth grounding.
You had one job, Mom, and you ignored me. I gave you a tracker; why did you fucking ignore me?! How am I supposed to keep these people safe if they won't follow my orders? Don't you know Veom can track you with that symbiote piece, Mom? And Venom is corrupted I'm pretty sure I made that clear MULTIPLE times.
He clenches his fists.
Fine then, if you want that tracker, you can have it, Mom—all the more reason to find Venom sooner rather than later.
His eyes dart to the left, where he sees a newspaper stand and people grab newspapers with a front page image of Spidey robbing a bank. David gets out of the car and slams the door shut.
A bike messenger almost collides with him but he manages to stop in time. "Be careful, man, I almost hit you; get out of the fucking bike path!"
Ignoring the bike messenger, David steps on the curb, allowing the messenger to leave, and pays for the newspaper. He reads the headline.
'Spider-Menace Breaks New Ground and Robs Bank'.
"What the fuck?" David tightens his grip on the newspaper and begins reading it.
"I know, I can't believe it either," a new voice speaks up. The voice belongs to an old man with thin reading glasses. "They always manage to make Spidey look chubby in these photos. Maybe they should consider getting a new photographer."
"Yeah," David agrees. He reads the photographer's name. "Eddie Brock." He checks his watch.
Should I go after Eddie or should I go after Mr. Negative? It is 1:30 and Martin's schedule said he would be free. I need to confirm something before I make a decision.
He takes out his phone and calls Carmine.
When he hears the voice, David asks, "Hey, Carmine, I was wondering something, is this a bad time to call?"
"We're about to head into a meeting; what is it?"
"Is Mr. Li going to be available at 1:30? I saw on his schedule that he was going to be available at 1:30."
"Oh," Carmine's voice comes through softly, "my mistake. I forgot to update his schedule because of his sudden business trip. But the second he has an available schedule, I'll send something to you."
"Thank you, much appreciated." He hangs up.
I gotta find Eddie and take him out. If I were Eddie and submitted my photos to my anti-Spidey boss, I would probably have a celebration. Which means...
He texts Felicia, telling her to meet him at the Daily Bugle.
The Daily Bugle
"Congratulations son," Jameson exclaims as he pats Eddie on the back. "My new staff photographer, the man who proved the point I've been trying to make for the past three years."
Eddie gives an arrogant smile as he holds up a can of Dr. Pepper to the employees of the Daily Bugle. "You guys better watch out; I might decide to gun for your jobs."
The audience laughs some before Eddie turns to put the picture of the latest newspaper on the wall.
David steps in as the audience disperses and sees Eddie straightening the picture frame.
Eddi Brock, in the fucking flesh.
"Ahh, David." Eddie turns and smiles. "How are you doing on this fine day?"
"Oh, you know, the usual. Hopping, skipping, and jumping around town like there's no tomorrow. But I can't help but think there may be no tomorrow for one of us."
"Right..." Eddie smiles, "Spider-Man."
"I never thought Spidey would rob a bank," David smiles, "I mean, after all, he is a superhero." He looks around. "And I'm pretty sure faking Spider-Man photos is a crime. Well, maybe not but selling fake photos to the Bugle?"
'what are you talking about? I saw Spider-Man rob a bank with my own eyes. You can check my sources; this photo is genuine. No smoke and mirrors involved."
"What about... black suits perhaps?"
Eddie's eyes glow black. "Are you implying something? Like, it could've been an imposter?" He lowers his voice as he continues. "Are you implying that I had someone dressed as Spider-Man and told him to rob a bank? Let me ask you something, did you read the article?" His eyes return to their normal color. "Well, did you?"
David glares at him. "What are you saying?" Without looking, he reaches into his pocket, grabs a tracker, and plants it in the front pocket of Eddie's sweater.
"I never should've trusted you. I knew you were a villain this entire time." His eyes glow once more as he grabs David by the collar and throws him into the picture frame, leaving cracks in the form of a spider web behind. The employees look over at the commotion but don't interfere.
"I could kill you right now," Eddie whispers, "I could expose you for the fraud you are, right here, right now. But no, that wouldn't be enough. I want you to be hurting and bruising, lying in a puddle of your blood and piss, choking, begging for mercy. But I won't grant you any mercy, not until I destroy you in every way imaginable. I'll do it, I'll destroy you."
David looks at the hand on his chest pinning him to the wall.
I couldn't help but notice that I'm not being corrupted. Mr. Negative corrupted Venom by touching him. I'm being touched by him but I'm not being corrupted. Either this means people corrupted by Mr. Negative can't corrupt other people... or I can't be corrupted unless the person is glowing negative energy.
Eddie's eyes return to their natural color once more.
"What's going on here, Eddie?" Robbie comes over. "What happened?"
"Nothing," Eddie answers, "just a little spat between us." Eddie pulls David and throws him forward. David staggers a bit before looking back at Eddie. "Get out of here before I call security on you."
David looks around and sees prying eyes on him.
You're going to make me look bad in front of everyone, I don't think so.
"I'm sorry for prying, Eddie. But if you ever need anything, I'm here for you." David dons a sad look. "You're not alone, Eddie."
"Fuck you," Eddie curses.
"I'm sorry." David lets a tear slip before walking out of the building.
Outside
David makes it outside, where he reunites with Felicia, who is just getting out of a taxi.
"Too late," David told her, "I found Eddie."
"Then let's move this place somewhere private."
They head into the alleyway and stand beside a dumpster.
"I saw the latest Daily Bugle news," Felicia mentions.
David nods. "Yep, photos of me robbing a bank."
"Took a page out of the good ol' Black Cat handbook, did ya?"
"I didn't rob any bank. Eddie had Venom latch onto someone, copy my appearance, and rob a bank. And then he took photos to make me look bad."
"Why would he do that?"
"Because he's still under the effects of the corruption."
"So Li's powers aren't something that can wear off. Or at the very least, it wears off slowly." She strokes her chin. "I scouted Mayor Peletier's penthouse; some very expensive jewelry. Do you think someone of her wealth would notice if a Ming Dynasty vase would just... disappear?"
"Nope," he says bluntly. "But let's focus." He takes out his phone. "I managed to plant a tracker on Eddie. I would've had you use your bad luck powers on him but if the clothes he's wearing are his symbiote, then he would not only be naked but the symbiote would be exposed. Eddie would be exposed in more ways than one. If we're going to use your bad luck powers on him, we need to do it in a place that's private with no unwanted eyes."
"We can do that. I know a couple of good private spots we can lead him to. And maybe when we're done... we can celebrate."
David smiles. "I like the idea, but first... Eddie. And you haven't found any clues on Cindy?"
"Nada."
"Fine then."
"We'll ambush Eddie tonight. This is the plan: I'll lead him to a secluded area and you'll use your bad luck powers on him. Once the symbiote is separated from him, I'll knock him out and lock him up. As for the symbiote, I'll have him bond to me."
"Not going to have history repeat on you, are ya, Davey?"
David looks at her.
Oh, I haven't forgotten about what I was going to do to Felicia while under the influence of the symbiote.
"Now that I know what to expect, I can fight off any urges. Besides, you can always use your powers to make the symbiote leap off me in case something bad happens."
"Good." She narrows her eyes. "What if the symbiote is corrupted?"
"It doesn't matter if Eddie is corrupt or the symbiote; we need to separate them and then we'll figure out a cure." He clenches his fists. "As for Cindy, we'll keep an eye on her. But as soon as Venom is taken care of, we'll go after Mr. Negative and kill him before he does any more damage. As for Kraven, we gotta keep our eye on him."
"Yeah." She smirks a little. "You aren't going to fight Venom head-on?"
"Venom's too strong for me to handle."
"Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Kraven?"
"Venom can get around my spider-sense. And while not as fast as Cindy, he's faster than me."
"Don't worry, I'll be in your corner, working through you the whole way through."
"Thanks, kitty." He smiles. "Good kitty, nice kitty."
"Anything for my adorable little spider."
With Yuri
Yuri's eyes roll back as she lifts her head. Still being held captive, Yuri closes her mouth and coughs some. She swallows some spit in an attempt to help her dry throat but she chokes a bit.
Luigi comes back into the room with a vanilla pudding cup in hand. He lifts his Demon mask enough to eat from the pudding cup but not enough to expose his face. "Oh, hi, Yuri. How are you feeling? I hope you don't have a headache because what I'm about to show you will give you one." He puts the pudding cup on the table before whipping out his phone. He pulls up an article on the latest Spider-Man news. "Check this out."
Yuri's eyes widen at the headline.
"Your Spider-Man robbed a bank. It says so, right here in this article. Man, you must be going through such emotional turmoil. I mean, I don't blame you. After all, your best friend and vigilante is now being called out and people want blood. They want blood like those vampires in that godawful upcoming vampire movie. Honestly, why is Hollywood so interested in making awful movies; are they trying to go bankrupt? I mean seriously, where's the fun? They don't make movies like they did back in the old days." He notices her drooling saliva. "Oh, I'm so sorry, you must be starving. Don't worry, I brought you some food."
Yuri's mouth twitches and she licks her lips. The right side of her face had a Glasgow smile carved.
He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a spoon and vanilla pudding cup. "I know you probably don't like vanilla, but I do. So, you get what you get." He opens the pudding cup and takes a spoonful. He shoves the spoon into Yuri's mouth. "How is taste?"
Yuri gags and spits out the pudding, coughing and choking. She takes deep breaths and shakes her head. "What the fuck is that shit?"
"Pudding, duh." He shoves another spoonful into her mouth, forcing her to swallow. "No artificial flavors included." He watches with a smile as Yuri promptly throws up. "Aww, don't like pudding." He sets the cup aside. "Oh well, if you don't like that, I'll find something better you'll enjoy." He sets a chair up in front of her and sits down. "Although to be honest, I can never find a better playtoy than you, Yuri. Sure, there are other people for me to torture but... I like 'em Asian. In fact... you kinda look like this one girl I knew. She was Korean but still, you kinda look like her."
Yuri looks at him. "You're going to regret this."
And why is that, Yuri?"
"Spider-Man is going to make you wish you were dead."
"Ooh, same question: why?"
"Spider-Man takes care of his allies. I'm his best friend, his only friend on the police force. You're going to regret the day you tortured me."
"What are you talking about, Yuri? I'm not torturing you; I'm taking care of you." He grabs the pudding cup and shoves another spoonful in her mouth. She vomits once more. "See, I'm making sure you're well-fed, and be honest, how many people taking you captive offer you delicious snack packs?"
With Mr. Negative
Martin Li pulls to his restaurant and steps inside. He orders a bowl of authentic Chinese noodles and sits in the farthest corner of the restaurant. Every other customer was a Demon so he didn't have to worry about secrecy.
Carmine and Franco sit in the booth on the opposite end as Chameleon joins them.
Martin makes room for Chameleon. As their food arrives, Martin takes his bowl and uses chopsticks to dig in.
"So," Martin begins, "I must commend you on your work, Chameleon."
Chameleon pulls out a Spider-Man. "Trust me, this is the most fun I've had in a long time of cosplaying. Anybody can put on a spider mask but how many can pull off a convincing Spider-Man performance?"
"Good point." Martin slurps on some noodles. He sips some water. "If everything goes according to plan, then the world will think Spider-Man is the enemy now. And... if luck with us, then 'Venom' as they're calling him will turn on his former ally and take care of him for us. Spider-Man will have Kraven and Venom to deal with."
"But what about the negative effects?'
"I'm not too worried about the negative effects on Venom and Silk. It'll wear off when it wears off but for now, let's focus on what we can achieve right now."
"And what would that be, sir?"
"Getting back to bringing justice to this city." He pauses. "Speaking of which, the first step to bringing order back to this city is turning the police on Spider-Man. We chip at Spider-Man's allies and eventually, we can let New York deal with him as we get back to taking over the city. Disguise yourself as the police captain and set up an ambush on the rooftop. Once it becomes clear to Spidey that he has no allies, then he'll be out of hope."
"Yes sir," Chameleon smiles.
"And while you're at it, send Kraven with you."
"Perfect."
"Yes."
Martin turns to his go-to guy. "Carmine, Franco, I want you guys to organize a party and get ready to make a move on Jameson and Peletier."
"Yes," both men nod.
"Good." He resumes eating his meal. "In the meantime, enjoy yourselves."
Early the Next Morning
Spidey swings through the city and keeps an eye out for crime. He clings to the side of a building and waits patiently.
I haven't had any contact with Venom or Cindy since the warehouse battle. And I don't know how but I lost Eddie's signal. I should've taken him out when I had the chance. Goddamn, why does everything seem to be going against me? Of all my strategic planning, I'm finally getting clumsy and everything.
He shakes his head.
No, I'm not getting clumsy, I'm just not thinking further ahead. If I want to win, I have to think ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, ONE MILLION steps ahead. I know it's impossible but I have to consider every avenue whenever I go into a battle. Okay, so... if Black Cat's power for some reason doesn't work, I gotta think of a way to defeat Venom. I need a backup plan for backup plans as well. What will I do if Venom kidnaps Mom and uses her as a hostage or kills her? I gotta think of a countermeasure for that. Or what if Silk exposes my identity? I got to come up with a plan to prove my innocence. I also got to prove my innocence with this bank robbery. So far, opinions are mixed from both ends, with some thinking I was the real deal while others believe that it was an imposter.
Spidey heads over to the NYPD to meet with Yuri. He swings across the rooftops and lands on the antenna. He spots Yuri 2 leaning against a rail, smoking a cigarette.
"Yuri, hey there. Since when did you start smoking?"
Yuri 2 ignores him.
"Yuri, you know I didn't rob that bank, right?" Spidey jumps down. He reaches a hand out. "You know I'm not that kind of guy."
"Traitor," Yuri 2 mutters.
His spider-sense goes off.
Police storm the rooftop, armed to the teeth with assault rifles and shotguns, and hold Spidey at gunpoint.
"I've been waiting for this day for a long time, Spider-Man," Anderson laughs, "on the ground, motherfucker."
"Shoot!" Yuri 2 shouts, "Shoot you motherfuckers!"
"But, ma'am," Anderson begins but is cut off.
"I said shoot on sight, bitches!"
Spidey raises his hands and backflips over the rail. The police fire on him but stop when he falls to the ground where civilians are present.
Spidey laughs aloud and shouts, "Sorry guys, but I got places to go and people get away from."
His spider-sense goes off. "Shit!"
As he swings across a rooftop with a water tower, Kraven leaps off said water tower and collides with the swinging Spider-Man. They both take a tumble to the roof and roll over the edge. They fall five floors to the ground in an alley but both are still alive. Spidey rolls over and climbs on top of Kraven, who kicks Spidey off of him.
Spidey flies back and crashes into a dead-end wall. Spidey pushes himself off and faces his opponent.
"Ahh, Kraven, so nice to see you again."
Kraven inhales deeply. "I have your scent, Spider-Man."
"Do you?, then how was I able to escape from you the first two times?"
"Animals and humans both have a distinct scent but a cross-species such as yourself sometimes fluctuates between man and animal."
"Aww, I'm honored. Now then, let's get this done and over with."
Spidey leaps over Kraven, opting to attack him from behind, only for Kraven to throw three knives at him. Spidey dodges them and shoots a web to swing before his spider-sense goes off.
Spidey is out of the alleyway and a beam of negative energy is shot at his web and he falls. He lands on the ground with a somersault and turns to see his new opponents.
A car full of Demons pulled up some time ago and the one with the glowing sword managed to cut Spidey's web.
Spidey leaps and avoids the vertical beam of energy fired at him and it cuts a taxi in half. The driver is killed and a taxi behind him almost crashes. Spidey webs-zips to the sword wielder and knocks him to the ground. He gets on top of him and punches his face, turning him into a pile of barely human remains.
The civilians and bystanders in the vicinity scream. Some of them run off while others stay behind to film the ensuing chaos.
A second Demon wields a glowing ax and swings it down on Spidey. Spidey narrowly avoids the strike, and disarms the Demon, before Sambo throws him into the path of an oncoming car, killing him.
The third Demon attacks Spidey from behind. Without looking, Spidey backhands him hard enough to send him falling to the ground. He survives but the sound of a horn catches the Demon's attention. He turns to his left and a tire belonging to a semi fills his vision as it barrels over his skull.
"No," Kraven whispers as he shakes his head, "this is not how it's supposed to be. We were supposed to fight in an alleyway."
Spidey looks over. "I agree. Let's fight in an alleyway where there will be no..." He trails off when his spider-sense goes off. He leaps out of the way as a black car speeds for him. He shoots a web and yanks it back. A passenger in the back crashed through the back window and cut the web. The Demon car took off suddenly and crashed into a taxi, killing the cabbie.
The surviving Demon driver gets out. "Kraven, we're your backup until the second subject gets here."
Spidey glares at the Demons before looking at Kraven.
Oh, you're going to attack me in an open area with plenty of innocent people around. Okay then, I'll play your game, but don't think for a fucking second I'll show any mercy.
