The next day, Amara got a call from Allie. "It's time. I'm calling in the Goon Squad. I'll send you my location. Hurry." Amara received the location pin shortly after, and as she sped down the road to Mesagoza, Nemona and Trish pulled up next to her.
"You ready to give this thing hell?" Amara shouted. Trish shot a thumbs up as her Cyclizar picked up speed. It wasn't long after that they encountered Arven and Koraidon. Allie was nowhere to be found, but Penny sent a text that Rotom read aloud as they rode. Good, Penny will be there too. One more team at our backs. As they rounded the curve into Mesagoza and hopped off their Pokémon, Allie met them at the gate.
"Yo, this thing is turning the plants to ash. We need to deal with it now." Amara cursed loudly and the six made their way southward, up a couple of hills, and then they saw it. "Holy shit." Arven muttered as they looked down at the blighted land. There were trails of rot and decay running through the field, and the smell of dying plant matter filled their noses. "What the fuck is this thing, babe?"
"It's supposed to have been a cursed gift to the first king. Let's walk and talk. We have to catch up to it before it does more damage." The group took off toward the trail of rot, and as they followed, Allie explained the myth behind the treasures to everyone. "Turns out all the objects absorbed the king's malice and turned into Pokémon, or something like that. Now they wreck the landscape apparently."
As they made their way forward, Allie paused. Standing about thirty feet from the group was a large Pokémon, wreathed in dying leaves, with a wooden plate shell on its back. "That's it. Everyone ready?" Amara pulled Rotom out and sent a quick text.
Mr. Vaughn, here's our location. Mayday. Send help.
Then they all pulled their Pokéballs from their belts and threw out their Pokémon. Armarouge, Allie's Hitmontop, Penny's Flareon, and Nemona's Quaquaval burst from the left side of the battlefield, while Arven's Haxorus and Trish's Toxtricity burst from the right side. "Let's go to work." Arven called as the Pokémon let out a cry and charged.
"Wo-Chien!" It yelled as two blighted vines wrapped themselves around Armarouge's legs. Armarouge pulled its blade from its head and slashed itself loose, then readied a fire attack. Haxorus charged forward at Arven's command and delivered three powerful slashes to Wo-Chien's face, and as Haxorus stumbled back, everyone saw that Wo-Chien appeared unharmed, while Haxorus's claws seemed worn down. "Alright, everyone, don't touch it!" Amara called as Armarouge launched a piece of smoldering armor at Wo-Chien. Penny called Flareon to unleash a Fire Blast, and Quaquaval armed itself to launch a flurry of water attacks as the leaves of Wo-Chien's body lit aflame. Quaquaval unleashed a torrent of water that smacked Wo-Chien back a few feet.
"It isn't even singed. Aw shit what are we gonna do now?" Nemona cried as Wo-Chien lashed its vines at Quaquaval. Quaquaval fell and Nemona returned it to its Pokéball. "Fuck." Then, from behind them, the group heard a loud "Volcarona, Bug Buzz!" A flash of white and red passed by Amara as Wo-Chien took the brunt of Volcarona's attack.
"Amara, I got your text." Mr. Vaughn stepped up to the group. "So, grass poison. Nice." At this point, Wo-Chien had shaken off its daze and lashed at Volcarona. "Volcarona, into the air. We'll hit it from above. Everyone, I can't do this by myself. Keep up the attacks!" Amara called Armarouge to launch a fire blast toward Wo-Chen, and Flareon let loose a Flamethrower. Nemona tossed a pair of boxing gloves to Quaquaval, who jumped in and delivered a series of powerful punches. Hitmontop was pulled back to its Pokéball and replaced with a Darmanitan, who delivered a quick fire punch. Haxorus launched a powerful stream of dragonbreath, and Volcarona launched another Bug Buzz. After the attacks had finished, Wo-Chien stood, dazed, and finally showing some damage from the hits.
Amara's face turned to a smirk as she pulled out an ultra ball. Mr. Vaughn shot her a look, but she shrugged and let the ball fly toward Wo-Chien. It bumped once, then twice, then three times, before it crackled, and Wo-Chien was caught. Everyone gathered their Pokémon, healed them up and recalled them. "I see how it beat your ass, Allie, damn." Amara sent the Ultra Ball to her boxes and sat down on a rock near the battlefield. Penny walked over to her and planted a deep kiss onto her.
"Missed you." She whispered as she sat in Amara's lap. The others all gathered around shortly after, and Amara nonchalantly asked "So, Nemona, Trish, how was Lopunny's Secret? Nemona turned tamato berry red, as did Mr. Vaughn. "Mr. Vaughn, please tell me you didn't see me buy anything."
"I didn't see you buy anything." He responded, almost robotically. "I expect the same courtesy be extended to myself and nurse Miriam." He added. Nemona nodded and affirmed she didn't see anything either, then Mr. Vaughn called for Ho-Oh and started his journey back to Mesagoza.
"I'm pretty sure Mr. Vaughn has seen me in a negligee." Nemona said softly, her face turning even redder. Everyone gave a light chuckle before Penny asked, a sweet tone in her voice, "But did you look good in the negligee?" Trish's smile grew as Penny asked. Trish affirmed that Nemona in a negligee was one of the most beautiful sights she'd ever seen.
"Congrats, Ms. Eleventh sight of Paldea." Amara laughed at her own joke, causing Penny to hug her tightly. "Second respite is in eight days, are we doing a round two or?" Amara asked. The group looked at each other for a second, then everyone nodded their assent, and Amara smiled. "Nemona, you'll have to wear the negligee. I hear it's a sight to behold." Nemona let out a sigh and Trish wrapped her arm around Nemona.
"Maybe we can also figure out the mystery of what the fuck these Pokémon did to Paldea because what the fuck was that thing?" Trish asked. Allie shrugged and asked Amara to show Wo-Chien to Ms. Raiford on her way to Alfornada. Amara happily agreed, and the group split up to go their separate ways.
"Us not being together was a mistake." Penny said as she wrapped herself around Amara's arm. "Can I come watch your gym battle in Alfornada?" She asked. Amara smiled and kissed her forehead. "What about your friend up north?" Penny shook her head.
"He didn't want to come back, so we'll have to battle him like the others." Amara nodded. "I guess we're doing that after Alfornada. I got you, my love." Nemona and Trish told the group they'd be back at school for an extra few days, and they would look forward to seeing everyone, then they headed toward Mesagoza. Arven told the group he was going to the west with Allie to find another treasure, but that he'd make the trip back to Mesagoza with Amara and Penny, since Allie was headed that way anyway.
"Alright, let's get a move on, then." Amara and Penny stood, and Amara and Arven tossed out Koraidon and Miraidon. The four hopped on and made their way back to Mesagoza.
