Chapter 2

As we follow Nemona towards the academy, we unexpectedly run into our disguised Mom, who warmly greets us. "Oh, Florian and Juliana! I hear that Nemona here will be taking you to school?"

Surprised, I remark, "Mom, I never thought you'd already met Nemona."

Mom smiles warmly and shares some encouraging words, "You know, I've read about all the wonderful teachers you'll have looking after you at the school. Plus, so many handy facilities you can use as much as you like! Add in your new friend, Nemona, and it sounds like your school life is shaping up to be fantastic! Now, you'll be staying in the school dorms, so I want you to promise me you'll eat proper meals. Here's a bit of spending money to start off with. I also packed a lunch for your first day!"

She hands us each a delicious-looking sandwich, reminding us of her culinary skills. Additionally, she provides us with some Potions, saying, "I know every day in your new life is going to be full of exciting experiences, far from home. Just try to savor them all—the good times and the hard times, too! But if you ever want to come back home, you know your bed is always ready for you. Oh, all right then! You three had better be off, I suppose. Take care on the way to school!"

Once she departs, Nemona comments, "Your mother's so nice, Florian. Though I can't help but wonder where I've seen her before..."

We exchange puzzled glances but decide to let it go for now as we continue our journey towards the academy, heading down Poco Path. The excitement of starting our new school adventure is palpable in the air.

Nemona leads us to Poco Path, emphasizing the excitement and adventure it holds. She explains, "All right! This here is Poco Path! It's the path that leads to adventure for you and me! Out here, things are different than in town. You're gonna see wild Pokémon out and about. They'll be on the path and in the grass and such! Get too close to one, and you'll have to battle. But you've got those three Pokémon for that, right?"

I nod, acknowledging that she's referring to Pikachu, Zoroark, and Sylveon, who are currently accompanying us outside of their Poké Balls. As we continue along the path, we encounter a pig-like Pokémon, Lechonk.

Nemona is excited by the sighting and exclaims, "Ooh, what luck! We have a Lechonk!"

I suggest, "Lechonk, huh? Maybe it would be fun to use one of our new Pokémon for this battle, right, Juliana?"

Juliana agrees with a smile, and Nemona looks puzzled. "Wait, both of you are sharing Pokémon? How is that going to work?"

I explain, "We have some privileges, and you see, we actually have a bunch of Pokémon ourselves."

Serena adds, "Let's consult the Pokédex to learn more about the three Pokémon we received from Mr. Clavell..."

Sprigatito: The Grass Cat Pokemon: Grass Type. The sweet scent its body gives off mesmerizes those around it. The scent grows stronger when this Pokémon is in the sun.

Fuecoco: The Fire Croc Pokemon: Fire Type. Fire Type. Its flame sac is small, so energy is always leaking out. This energy is released from the dent atop Fuecoco's head and flickers to and fro.

Quaxly: The Duckling Pokemon: Water Type. Its strong legs let it easily swim around in even fast-flowing rivers. It likes to keep things tidy and is prone to overthinking things.

Serena and I decide to use Quaxly and Fuecoco to battle the two Lechonk, one male and one female. Despite being Starter Pokémon, they put up a valiant effort in the battle, facing off against the new opponents. It's clear that Quaxly and Fuecoco are still learning and growing as Pokémon.

I consult the Pokedex and notice a move I've never encountered before. Curiosity gets the better of me, and I decide to give it a try. "Quaxly, use Aqua Cutter!" I command.

To our amazement, Quaxly unleashes a water-based version of Air Cutter, dealing significant damage to one of the Lechonk. Both Lechonk are eventually weakened in the battle, and we seize the opportunity to throw Pokeballs, capturing both of them successfully.

Lechonk: The Hog Pokemon: Normal Type. It searches for food all day. It possesses a keen sense of smell but doesn't use it for anything other than foraging.

Serena remarks, "Looks like we all get some great experiences."

I nod in agreement and add, "Indeed, it's been quite the adventure so far."

"You are really good at this. I'm really crummy when it comes to actually catching Pokemon. Maybe YOU should give ME tips instead." Nemona, impressed by our capturing skills, playfully suggests. I share my perspective, saying, "Well, it's not that hard. Sometimes, it's better to bond with the Pokémon first before attempting to capture them. Most of our Pokémon were captured without even needing to battle."

Nemona then proposes, "Let's meet back up at the lighthouse over there! You can see our school from the top!" She takes off towards the lighthouse without waiting for us.

Serena and I exchange glances, and I comment, "Looks like it's just the two of us again."

Serena reassures me, saying, "It's fine; we'll meet up with her at the lighthouse." We continue walking together, and I notice peculiar balls of strings hanging from some trees, with a few of them appearing to move.

I notice the peculiar balls of strings hanging from the trees and ask Serena, "Hey Serena, do you think those balls of strings are actually Pokémon?"

Serena is startled by my question and responds, "Geez... are you trying to play pranks on me?"

I quickly reassure her, saying, "No, I'm serious." I open the Rotom Dex to gather information and inform her, "Those balls of strings are actually a Pokémon named Tarountula. It's a Bug-type."

Serena expresses her surprise at the unconventional Pokémon design, saying, "That is such a weird design for a Pokémon... don't tell me you're going to catch it..."

With a determined grin, I reply, "Well, I did want to catch 'em all, after all." I toss a Pokéball at the Tarountula, but the string-like Pokémon springs to life, using String Shot to bind the Pokéball and send it flying.

I observe in awe, "Was that String Shot? So those are not strings but threads... that seems more reasonable." Undeterred, I try again, successfully capturing the Tarountula in the Pokéball.

Tarountula: The String Ball Pokemon: Bug Type. The thread that it secretes from its rear is as strong as wire. The secret behind the thread's strength is the topic of ongoing research.

We then discover a Pawmi, a cute mouse Pokémon. Instead of immediately battling it, I opt for a more gentle approach. I release Pikachu and allow it to interact with the mouse Pokémon, hoping to establish a friendly connection.

Serena and I carefully observe as Pikachu employs its charming nature and tries to befriend Pawmi. We decide to use convincing methods rather than force, hoping that the little Pokémon will choose to join our team willingly, and to our surprise, it works.

Pawmi: The Mouse Pokemon: Electric Type. The pads of its paws are electricity-discharging organs. Pawmi fires electricity from its forepaws while standing unsteadily on its hind legs.

"I think we should keep moving," Serena suggests. "We don't want Nemona to wait for us."

"You're right," I agree, and we continue walking along the road. We soon spot Nemona, who is standing in the middle of the road, waiting for us.

Nemona questions us with a hint of annoyance, "What's taking you two so long? I've been waiting."

"Sorry, Nemona," I apologize, "but we just caught two new Pokémon. Tarountula and Pawmi."

Nemona comments, "Those Pokémon are pretty common around this area."

Suddenly, we hear two mysterious cries that pierce the air, prompting us to look around in alarm. Serena exclaims, "Whoa! What was that?!"

I reply, concerned, "I don't know, but that cry sounds painful..."

Nemona, intrigued by the unfamiliar sound, adds, "I've never heard that kind of cry before! Could be some strong Pokémon or something!"

Determined to investigate, Nemona suggests, "I say we find whatever made that cry! Let's take a look around. But just be careful, there's a kind of unsafe cave not far from here, so steer clear. And also, watch out for the cliffs."

We both agree with her cautionary advice and prepare to explore further. However, Pikachu and Sylveon suddenly draw our attention as they focus on something below the cliff. Curious and cautious, we approach the edge of the cliff to see what has captured their attention.

Concerned for Pikachu and Sylveon's well-being, I ask, "What is it, Pikachu?" We follow their gaze and spot two Pokémon lying on the beach.

Serena expresses her curiosity but is interrupted when one of the Pokémon lets out a roar. Suddenly, the cliff beneath her gives way, and she begins to fall. Acting quickly, I grab her hand, attempting to prevent her from plummeting. However, the force of gravity ultimately pulls us down, and we start to fall.

In a desperate situation, I call out, "Charizard! Help us!" Fortunately, Charizard responds to my call, swooping in to save us. We land safely on the beach, with me holding Serena in a princess hug, causing her to blush slightly.

Concerned for her well-being, I ask, "Serena, are you okay?"

She responds, "I... I'm fine..." Serena turns away slightly, and I gently put her down. We express our gratitude to Charizard, who seems content, but not before attempting to playfully blast me with a Flamethrower.

I chuckle and recall Charizard before rushing to check on the two Pokémon we found on the beach. One is orange and appears to be from a prehistoric era, while the other is purple and seems to have a metallic body, giving it a futuristic appearance. Their presence raises many questions, and we cautiously approach them to see if they are injured or need assistance.

Serena suggests, "Those two Pokémon look weak and hungry... maybe there's something we can feed them to make them feel better?"

I consider her idea and suggest, "How about the sandwiches that our mom provided us?" I take out the sandwiches and feed a portion to each of the two Pokémon. After eating, they both stand up and let out grateful roars.

"Thank you..." I hear their words, as my ability to communicate with Pokémon allows me to understand them. I reply, "You're welcome..."

Suddenly, the two Pokémon begin to move toward the nearby cave and let out roars. They start to emit a radiant glow, which prompts Serena and me to shield our eyes.

"W-what's going on?" Serena and I exchange surprised glances, trying to protect our vision. The two Pokémon levitate into the air, and their legs transform into claw-like appendages resembling dragons. They gaze at us briefly before entering the cave.

"Should we follow them?" I ask Serena.

Serena replies with determination, "We have to," as we cautiously enter the cave.

Inside the cave, Pikachu and Sylveon are attempting to interact with the two Pokémon we found earlier. It becomes apparent that the purple one shares an affinity with Pikachu, as they engage in electrical communication. This suggests that the purple Pokémon is likely an Electric-type. On the other hand, the scarlet one, with its muscular appearance, seems to fit the characteristics of a Fighting-type.

As we explore further, we suddenly hear Nemona's voice echoing within the cavern. To our surprise, we discover that the cave's exit is above us, with Nemona standing at the opening.

"Nemona!" We both call out in relief.

Nemona expresses her concern, shouting, "There you are! Are you okay? You're not hurt, right?"

Reassuring her, I reply, "We're fine; it's not the first time something like this has happened to us."

Nemona sighs in relief, saying, "Thank goodness, I was really worried! If you'd gotten hurt because I suggested we go looking for whatever made those cries..."

She shakes off her worry and shifts her focus, saying, "No, never mind that! Right now, we've got to figure out how to get you back up here!"

However, Serena observes the surroundings and notes, "But it seems like it won't be that easy to escape this cave..."

Nemona offers a solution, "You just have to find some way to climb out of there! If you can get close enough, I'll try pulling you up with one of my Pokémon's moves!"

"Okay!" I respond, and we continue navigating the cave. Nemona asks, "Hey, what're those Pokémon in front of you?! They look SUPER strong! Kinda seems like they're waiting for you... Do they want you to follow them?"

The two giant Pokémon lend us their strength by using moves like Breaking Swipe and Dragon Breath to clear the path. This leads me to believe that they may indeed be Dragon-types. Nemona gasps, "Whoa! That was amazing! That Pokémon might be as strong as mine! Maybe stronger!"

Curious about the two Pokémon, I inquire, "Serena, did your Pokédex manage to identify these Pokémon yet?"

Serena checks her Pokédex and informs me, "All it's showing is a Pokémon known as Cyclizar. But no matter how I look at them, they don't match."

"Cyclizar?" I also check the Pokédex and find information about a Pokémon with a green body and wheels. "I don't think they're Cyclizar either... This is quite a mystery." We exchange puzzled glances as we continue our journey through the cave with our unexpected companions.

As we continue through the cave, Pikachu and Sylveon suddenly cry out, drawing our attention. We find ourselves surrounded by a group of Houndours.

"Great, Houndours..." I mutter, recognizing the Fire/Dark-type Pokémon.

To our surprise, the two Pokémon accompanying us, who we suspect to be Dragon-types, quickly spring into action. One uses Rock Smash while the other employs Thunder Shock to defeat the Houndours with ease.

"Amazing..." I exclaim, impressed by their strength and abilities.

"Absolutely," Serena agrees, sharing my sentiment. It's becoming increasingly clear that these two Pokémon are not what they initially appeared to be, adding to the mystery of our encounter with them.

Hey, heads up—some pretty rough and rowdy Houndour live in this cave! I'm glad you've got your bodyguards, but watch your back! They're strong!" Nemona's warning makes us chuckle, but we remain vigilant as we press forward.

The two dragon-like Pokémon continue to shatter rocks, clearing our path. Nemona is astounded by their strength and remarks, "Oh my gosh, they straight up pulverized that rock! How powerful even ARE they?! I wonder what that move was. Man, I wanna see it up close!"

We continue to be amazed by the incredible abilities of our newfound companions. However, our moment of wonder is abruptly interrupted when Nemona shouts, "Look out! Something's coming! Behind you—it's behind you!"

Panicked, we swiftly turn around to see a Houndoom stalking us, its intentions clearly hostile. We realize that we may have unwittingly entered their territory.

"So this place must be their territory... and we accidentally trespassed..." I mutter, assessing the situation.

Concerned, Serena asks me, "What are we going to do?" It's clear that we're facing a dangerous threat.

Before we can formulate a plan, the two Dragon-types exchange a knowing glance. They immediately spring into action, launching attacks with Ancient Power and Shock Wave, creating a dense cloud of smoke that obscures our vision. In the midst of the chaos, they swiftly grab hold of us and our Pokémon, carrying us to safety and reuniting us with Nemona. We breathe a sigh of relief as we escape the imminent danger, grateful for the quick thinking and extraordinary abilities of our mysterious companions.

Nemona applauds the two extraordinary Pokémon, clearly impressed by their actions. "Way to go! For a second, I thought you were all goners!"

I chuckle and reply, "Believe me, this is not the first time, and it might not be the last either."

As we continue toward the lighthouse, we notice that both of our dragon-like companions suddenly falter and faint. Concerned, we rush over to check on them.

Nemona speculates, "Maybe they used up all their power? What are those Pokémon, anyway? They kinda looks like a Cyclizar, but I've never seen one quite like this before, let alone two... And now they look so different from a minute ago. You think it's OK?"

"I'm not sure..." I admit, puzzled. "Something strange is definitely going on. Instead of being Normal-types, I feel like this scarlet one might be a Fighting-type, and the violet one could be Electric-type... Their battles were truly extraordinary."

"Indeed... So, I guess you two aren't the Pokémon's trainers, huh?" Nemona inquires, echoing our own confusion about our mysterious companions.

We shake our heads in response to Nemona's question, and to our relief, the two Pokémon gradually regain their strength.

Nemona suggests, "Oh good! Looks like they perked up a little! Do you think these fellas were the ones making those mysterious cries we heard before?"

"It's possible," I reply. "We still don't know what their names are... Maybe we should try to capture them and bring them to the Pokémon Center."

"Oh man, oh man, oh man! The more I look at these Pokémon, the more mysterious they seem! If you do become their Trainers, you gotta let me battle against them!" Nemona expresses her desire to battle them, and I agree, saying, "Sure, we can have a battle with them after that." We both attempt to capture the two enigmatic Pokémon using Poké Balls, but to our surprise, the Poké Balls bounce off without success.

"Wait, they already have trainers?" I wonder aloud, as the two Pokémon continue to move toward the Lighthouse, prompting us to follow them. The mystery surrounding these Pokémon deepens as we trail after them.
