Little by little, the new rules and changes were implemented. Slowly, so people had time to adjust.
Still, for some he needed more time to figure out solutions. Like missing friends and family.
Sonny knew Technoid had the answers, but they wouldn't give up that information easily or willingly.
Most of them were on top of some Wanted list or other.
Magnus was currently on the very top.
Sonny asked Bennett to try and hack into those lists, see what he could find.
They found some information, and Sonny couldn't help but pry into Corso's, but even Technoid had limited information.
Corso didn't mind.
"They don't have anything on anyone from Chissia, that planet keeps their military files under lock and key, even if it involves dead people, like me." He said.
Sonny gave him a look.
"Sounds like quite a story. Care to share?" He asked.
Corso shook his head.
"You're better off not knowing. That said, does it say what their plan is IF they catch me?" Corso asked, trying to peek at the file over Sonny's shoulder.
Sonny looked at it.
"Life in a Chissian Prison. Lovely." He said.
Corso chuckled.
"We could always swap. What does your file look like?" He asked, looking for Sonny's name in the encrypted files.
It needed its own password.
"Bennett, did you look at my file yet? It won't open." Sonny asked.
"Working on it." Bennett replied.
Sonny nodded.
"Keep at it, I really want to know what they've planned for me." He said.
Bennett nodded and went back to his work.
Corso continued planning for the next raid.
His file showed that Technoid didn't know much about him and would just ship him off to his own planet.
Fine by him.
He was more curious about Sonny's file.
What did Technoid have to hide on him?
And what did Sonny have to hide from them?
Then again, he wasn't exactly open about his own past.
They had more important matters to focus on.
He expected there were people from his past involved, but the encryption on his file made it absolutely sure.
It wasn't Duke Maddox that ran the police force of Technoid.
It was someone far more dangerous.
If Maddox knew who he put in charge, he'd think twice.
He remembered once appreciating Bleylock, for his enthusiasm for his work.
But he soon found out how dangerous the man was.
At least he didn't get his hands on the things he worked on.
Sonny tried not to look back.
That would only hurt him.
He looked back at his file.
Bleylock probably didn't know where he was now.
Probably thought he was dead.
But the extra security spoke volumes.
What was in there wasn't meant for sane eyes.
By now Bleylock knew to keep his twisted side hidden.
Sonny wasn't so lucky and saw what lurked beneath that surface.
"Sonny, you might want to take a look at this." Bennett called out.
Sonny made his way over to his station.
Once he saw the list of names, he smiled.
"Good work Bennett. That should make things easier. Let's make a plan to get these people back." Sonny said, giving Bennett a pat on the back.
Corso glanced over at them; things were finally working out.
At least for some.
For others… This was just the start of the nightmare.
Sonny looked through all the files they had of Pirates being Technoid prisoners.
He also saw names of Scientists he knew. He was starting to see a pattern.
Bleylock was at the center of that pattern.
Just getting rid of people that posed a threat to him.
Some of them were kept on Calderon, a Chissian Prison.
Sonny didn't like harming Corso, but it looked like they needed to get these people out of there.
Maybe they could even join the Pirates.
Corso would understand.
Sonny quickly looked through the list, coming up with a plan.
He could feel Corso's eyes on him.
And he could also feel his discomfort, no matter how good he was at hiding it from him.
He turned to his friend.
"Corso, can I have a word with you? " Sonny asked.
Corso just nodded and followed Sonny to their cabin.
"So, you probably saw that we need to go to Chissia to free some people." Sonny said, as Corso just stood stiffly in front of him.
"Permission to speak freely?" Corso asked, not looking directly at Sonny.
Sonny braced himself.
Corso regressing to how he was as a soldier was not a good sign.
"Of course you can speak freely." Sonny said, waiting for Corso to find the words.
Corso sighed.
"Listen, I know you want to free people and do the right thing, but… " Corso hesitated.
Sonny sat down on the bed.
"Please just say what you mean." He said, looking at him.
Corso sighed.
"Is there any specific reason you want to go into that hellhole?" He asked.
Sonny shook his head.
"To free some people that are being held captive, why do you ask?" He asked.
Corso nodded.
"I know who you're after. Other Scientists that crossed this Bleylock guy. Even if you manage, that's going to look suspicious. You'll be putting yourself in a lot of danger." He said before looking away.
Sonny nodded and pushed himself off the bed.
"Like it or not, I'm going to do it. We need these people." Sonny said, looking at Corso.
Corso nodded.
"As you wish." He softly said.
Sonny nodded.
"We still have a few hours before we get there. Don't worry, I've got it all planned out." Sonny said, as he left the cabin.
Corso was alone.
His main job was to protect Sonny…Mostly from himself.
