Notes: 2,000 followers. I've actually crossed that threshold thanks to all of you wonderful fans. thank you so much.
Here we are guys, the next chapter for you all. Been waiting for a long time to get to this part...
Two minutes earlier
On the edge of the lake beside Mount Fuji, Gang orca knelt down as he sat back onto the downed jet, the engines finally giving out from the damage dealt to them. Sighing, he looked up to the mountain ahead, knowing on foot it would take another thirty minutes uninjured… and that wasn't going to happen with his injured leg from the crash.
"What a shit show…" He grumbled, glancing over to the unconscious form of the falcon hunter Sokudo, having finally got a powerful enough sonar blast to finish him off. "Such a pain… I've always hated dealing with flying villains." He grunted as the police officer got out of the jet. "Any word?"
"Sir, the police in Niigata have arrived on scene and have begun arresting the suspects!" the man shouted, "And someone else is nearing the mountain as well!"
What?" Orca's ears perked up at the comment. "Who?"
Driving down the forest path, Kavik and Vixen sat silent as the van bounced down the dirt, the leopard seal growling as the slight bumping sent some pain up his arm. "What, you need a massage?" Vixen hissed, earning a sharp glare from the larger man.
"I literally just popped my damn shoulder back in. Shut the hell up." He growled, shifting his arm several times before grabbing the steering wheel again. "Once this shit is done, I'm going on vacation."
Snickering, Vixen cracked her knuckles and leaned back in her seat. "Damn, that little girl really did knock you around if you are that sore."
Grunting, Kavik took a breath as he maneuvered through the trees. "I really never expected a student to have been that powerful, especially a first year."
"That means there is potential for her," Vixen mentioned, her fox tail twitching at her side. "And the school knows that too, meaning they will offer even more money for a potentially big hero."
Sighing, Kavik knew once Iktomi got involved, not a single one of those kids were getting out of the cave, especially with Muteki in there as well. The power of the two lead hunters was beyond anything the other members could ever dream of reaching, reaching the heights of even the top of the hero ranks. But… something inside his mind was making him concerned, knowing that power coming from the water girl was something strange. He also wondered if the other kids were being underestimated as well, wondering if they could finish their task before the other heroes arrived.
"Once we get to the rendezvous point, we have to-
The blast of fire in front caused the pair of hunters to gasp out, swerving the van to dodge the flames. "The hell?!" Vixen yelled as she glanced out the window, her eyes widening at the figure flying their way. "Endeavor?!"
"What?!" Kavik shouted, his eyes bursting open at the side mirror. "How the hell did he find us?!"
Careening through the sky, the flame hero gritted his teeth and charged his hands, yelling as he shot the flames forth at the van. "You bastards!"
Swerving the van through the trees, Kavik growled as he dodged the incoming fireballs, clipping against the side of some of the large trees as he tried speeding up. "How did he know where we were?! Did you reveal that we-
"Don't put that shit on me!" Vixen shouted, pulling out the pistol she had and cocking it back. "I didn't say a word about a damn escape plan to these assholes! And I went through and took out every phone and radio these guys had! "
Yelling as more fire struck and destroyed his mirror, Kavik's mouth suddenly fell open as his mind went to the back of their van. "Did… one of these men put a tracker inside of them?!"
"What, like a damn dog?!" Vixen shouted, looking forward and dropping her mouth open in shock. "Shit, look out!"
Kavik couldn't react in time as the glowing ring suddenly formed in front of their van, slamming his breaks before crashing into the solid ring blocking their path. "Gah!" he shouted as the airbag went off, glancing over the top to feel his heart jump at the sight of the wizard looking man in yellow and green robe ahead of them. "Shit…"
The hero Majestic smirked as he waved his hands, several more glowing rings forming above his palms. "Looks like we made it in time. Glad we didn't miss the show!"
As the glowing rings expanded and launched at the van, both Vixen and Kavik leaped out of the car just before they smashed the doors shut. Rolling across the ground, the fox girl glared and aimed the gun at the man. "God damn it!" she yelled and fired off several rounds.
Creating rings and blocking the bullets, Majestic launched them forward at the two hunters forcing them to jump out of the way. Kavik then saw multiple police and a few other heroes running through the trees. He then glanced at the damaged van behind, growling before knowing this was over. "Damn it…"
Vixen mentally agreed with the leopard seal, flipping out of the way as another ring shot at her and sprinted towards the unguarded path. As Kavik took off after her, Majestic grunted and ran in their direction. "Half of you go to the van! The rest of you, come with me!" he shouted, glancing behind at the green haired girl in a purple bodysuit following him. "Keep your eyes on them."
Grinning, Setsuna nodded and cracked her knuckles. "Got it, sir!" she shouted and detached her head, sending it flying into the air above the trees above the group.
As he landed on the ground, Endeavor coughed out as he stumbled towards the van, his eyes wide in surprise to all the officers running his way. A few of the cops looked over in shock to the battered hero, freezing for a moment before running at him to help. "Endeavor! Sir are you-
"How…" Endeavor huffed out, wiping the blood away from his face as he walked their way. "You all made it here?"
"After the SOS went out from you and Gang Orca, Majestic was the closest hero able to make it in time," one of the officers said as he tried helping the flame hero stand up right, "He gathered us in the city and flew us here as quickly as we could. Luckily, it seems these villains didn't realize the police all had trackers in their badges."
Endeavor breathed in several times as he looked back up to the van. After his earpiece went off from the police precinct that the trackers had come back online, he knew where to go to find them. Now seeing the van so close, he pulled away and stomped towards the back doors, his fear growing as he saw the hunters having been driving it. Pushing the few cops out of the way, he charged his fist and punched at the lock, breaking it and ripping the door open.
"Burnin! Katara!"
His eyes widened as he saw the many broken and unconscious people in the back of the van, their bloody bodies enshrouded in webbing. "Oh god…" he muttered, his eyes looking around and seeing even Shishido battered, the lion hero's bloody face slumped to the side. What made his heart jump however was he still saw all of the teens and Burnin were not here. "Where… Where are they?!" he shouted.
"What?" the cop asked. "Who are you-
"Where are the kids?!" Endeavor yelled, his eyes turning back to the mountain above. He gritted his teeth, fearing they could've been inside still. "Get them to the hospital, and send more aid to the mountain now!"
Before the cops could ask what he meant, Endeavor burst off the ground once more, launching his hurt and sweating body towards the cavern entrance location they were all given, knowing he had to get there in time before it was too late.
Meanwhile
Sprinting down the mountain side, Vixen growled as she leaped over rocks and around trees, the sound of the pursuing heroes and officers still behind. "Well this all went to shit!" She shouted, jumping over a rock and dropping down a ledge to another level. "Shit, shit shit!"
Jumping down after, Kavik winced as he landed, his leg nearly locking up from the pain he still felt from Katara. He hissed and ran as fast as he could, beginning to hobble down the mountain after the faster fox. After a bit he tripped and rolled, gasping as he crawled back up and landed on the ground beside her hiding behind a large tree. "It's over… all of this is over…" He growled.
"Oh yeah, Einstein? What gave it away?" Vixen sneered, checking the ammo in the pistol before reloading it. "Looks like we literally just lost every dollar of our ransom right there."
"You better watch it," Kavik growled, rubbing at his right knee. "Iktomi still has the kids and-
"Screw this shit," Vixen snapped, "You wanna say she's getting out of there now that Endeavor and Majestic are here? Good luck with that." Her ears suddenly twitched, glancing up in shock to the floating head staring down at them. "The hell?!" she shouted and aimed the gun up.
"Oh shit!" Setsuna yelped as her head flew out of the way from the bullets, hiding in the tree cover. "Majestic, they are heading south!" she shouted to her earpiece.
Gritting her teeth, Vixen saw they were being watched from above, and the sound of the incoming heroes growing louder. Before she took off, she glanced over to see Kavik wincing as he stood up, knowing he would hold her back if they ran together. Sighing, she turned and faced the tall man. "You've been a tough bastard the entire time I've known you, you know that?." she muttered.
"Thanks," Kavik grumbled, looking up to the sounds growing closer. "But that isn't going to- GAH!"
Kavik dropped to the ground and screamed out in pain to the bullet going through his knee. Lowering the gun, Vixen gave a small shrug. "Nothing personal, but I know you'll be a good distraction for me."
"You fucking bitch!" Kavik roared out and lunged at her, missing as she leaped out of the way and he collapsed in pain.
Smirking, Vixen gave a fake salute as she walked away. "If you share a cell with Itkomi, tell her I officially retire."
"Damn you… Damn you!" Kavik shouted as Vixen sprinted off into the distance, his eyes widening as multiple police officers surrounded him. "Shit!" He growled out, hobbling up and gripping the broken log nearby. "Screw you!" he yelled and launched it at the incoming pursuers, only for the magic hero encircling and capturing him with his glowing rings.
"You aren't going anywhere now." Majestic declared, tightening his energy ring around the villain and holding him as the officers and other heroes pinned him down.
From above, Setsuna stared in shock at what she just saw between the villains. "Jesus… what a bitch!" she muttered. Seeing the crawling leopard seal now captured, shaking her head and sending it after the fleeing fox. Struggling to keep up, she split her face in half and flew after the woman to keep her in sight. As one half grew closer, she was forced to fall back behind a tree as several more bullets were shot at her. After coming back into view, her eyes widened when she lost sight of the villain. "Oh shit…"
Flying through the trees, Setsuna looked back and forth for the villain, her split eyes going in different directions. After several seconds, she began panicking and flew up into the air to get a better view. "No… no no!" she yelled out. Her head came back together in panic, her eyes widening as the hero Majestic flew up beside her on one of his rings. "Sir, I… I was trying to follow her and-
"Don't `guilt yourself, Lizardy," Majestic said to his intern, looking at the pair of other heroes running through the trees, unable to find her either. He looked towards the lake below and let out a small sigh. "She's far too fast for us. She's gone."
"But…" Setsuna grimaced and looked below. "If we keep looking we can-
"Our priority is to help the others. Go and aid the ones captured, now. I'm joining Endeavor at the mountain."
While frustrated, Setsuna nodded to her mentor as he flew through the air towards the mountain. Taking a breath, she flew her head back towards where her body was beside the van, letting out a chuckle to herself. "Kendo must've been having a crazy work study in this city with Katara. I can't wait to hear what kind of shit they got into this weekend."
Inside Mount fuji
The thick mist hung in the air in the large cavern, the few still functioning lights crackling and flickering infrequently. Several large chunks of rocks broke free and collapsed below, splashing into the many pools of water scattered across the cavern floor. Staring out from the wall, Mirko sat open- mouthed in amazement to everything that had just happened in the past ten minutes. "These kids…" she muttered out.
Crawling off the ground, Kendo rubbed at her throat as she took several deep breaths, her heart still racing after the battle that just happened. She winced as she looked down to her hand, her skewered palm still bleeding from the open hole. Normally this would've caused her so much panic and worry, but after everything that had happened… she honestly felt like laughing that was the worst she got. The loud grunt from the side caught her attention, turning to see Bakugo gripping his broken arm and standing up as well. They glanced at each other for a moment before looking forward again, the mist breaking and revealing their classmate standing alone.
Dropping to her knees, Katara panted profusely as her limit had been reached, gasping for air as her exhaustion was too much. She closed her eyes as her breath came in deep huffs, her entire body aching in pain and bleeding from the many cuts over arms and stomach. Her hands shook at her side, her strength practically gone and making her arms feeling five times heavier than normal. She looked up, seeing the shattered stone from the impact of her attack, water dripping down to the massive pile of rubble below, where the hunters leader must've been buried underneath.
"It's over…" She got out between breaths, squeezing her fists in both relief and pain.
"She… she did it." Kendo quietly said, her own smile growing across her face. "She did it!"
"God damn…" Burnin chuckled as she leaned against the rock pillar beside her, clutching at her stomach as just laughing sent pain through her ribs. "Now… I really need a drink now."
Laughing at the comment she heard, Kendo sighed and looked towards the exit. Well let's get out of here and get one for you."
"Yeah, like I'd trust a youngster like you to get me anything," Burnin snickered before wincing at the pain.
Huffing out, Bakugo gripped his busted arm as he stepped forward, panting as he stared at the waterbender. Gritting his teeth, he saw the true power of what this girl could do, the power that she had and what she was capable of. As they all struggled to even hold out against Itkomi, he saw Katara was the only reason any of them were standing here now. As much as he didn't want to admit it, he saw she really was on another level from the other students in their class. And as much as he didn't want to admit it… she was certainly stronger than he was currently.
He only grinned, wanting to test this new power she had once they got back to school, only to grunt from the chuckle from the red head.
"Guess it's time we say thanks ." Kendo teased his ego, finding amusement as his eye twitched.
"I could've blown her head off if I wanted to! I just let Hair Loops feel better and have the win!" Bakugo barked out, only to gasp as the pain in his arm made his body shake. "Damn it!"
"Yeah, you totally look like you had her…" Kendo sighed out and jokingly shoved his back, raising her eyebrow as he dropped to the ground whining in pain from that light touch. "If you hurt that much, just admit you weren't winning shit."
"Sh-shut up!" Bakugo cried out as he gritted his teeth, struggling to stand back up.
"If you kids are done chatting, how about you guys get over here and cut me down, damn it?!" Mirko snapped out in annoyance, bumping her head against the stone behind her.
"Yeah yeah…" Burnin muttered, pushing herself up. "We can get out of here and call everyone else to arrest all these bastards."
Forcing herself up, Katara's legs wobbled as she got to her feet, hobbling up as she gripped her arm. Her head was spinning still, everything in her body aching as she stepped backwards. She breathed hard as she steadied her footing, looking down to the slash across her stomach. She winced as she touched the open wound, knowing she was far too drained of strength to even attempt healing now. Breathing hard, she turned and looked at the other behind her, smiling seeing they were alright.
"Let's… let's get out of here." Katara said, taking two steps before falling onto the rock pile to her left.
"Katara!" Kendo said in concern, only getting a chuckle from Katara.
"I'm fine…" She huffed out, pushing herself up and feeling her joints pop. "Just… a little tired."
"Well you better not pass out, Ryujin." Burnin grunted, shaking her head and laughing. "Because I have a hell of a lot to ask you, kid."
Katara's eyes widened slightly at the comment, her gaze seeing Mirko and Kendo curiosity raise as well. She knew that all of them were certainly wondering what had happened with her, her sudden spiritual energy episode something they certainly saw. Her eyes then noticed Bakugo eyeing her, him being the only one here knowing what she was.
Grunting out, Katara stood up from the rubble, breathing hard as she regained her balance. "I guess… I have a lot to talk about. When we get out, I-
Katara's words were cut off by the searing pain striking her back, her eyes bursting open as she felt something ripping through, causing her body to lurch forward. Her mouth trembled open as she gasped, blood dripping down her lips as the sharp pain pierced through her body. Time seemed to freeze that moment, a cold silence falling over the cavern as everyone's faces were etched in shock to what just happened.
Gasping out, Katara's eyes shakingly drifted down, looking at the bloody spider leg protruding through her chest.
"K-KATARA!" Kendo screamed in terror.
"Ryu!" Burnin yelled out as Katara coughed out a mouthful of blood.
Katara's mouth trembled as the pile of rocks beside her broke apart, revealing the battered hunter crawling up from the rubble. Her left eyes were closed shut from the slashes across her face, along with her left arm shattered in three places. All of her spider legs were missing as well… except for the one piercing through her body.
"You…" Iktomi wheezed out, the broken ribs making her breathing hoarse. "... You little bitch. You've… really done it now."
As the leg was ripped out from her body, Katara gargled out blood as she collapsed to the ground, falling onto her side and gasping in agony. She coughed as her shaking hands clutched at the blood pouring out from her chest, the open wound leaking out through her fingers.
"NO!" Kendo shouted as she ran forward, her hands expanding outward. Before she could even land her hit, Iktomi's back fist swung out and cracked her across the face, the impact nearly knocking her out cold as she slammed into the ground.
"Fuck you!" Bakugo yelled as he hobbled forward, screaming as he aimed his right hand and unleashed a large blast at the woman. He missed however as she dropped to her knees below the attack, her spider leg shooting forward and piercing through his shoulder.
"I'm done playing with you bastards!" Iktomi roared through her pain as she slammed the screaming Bakugo to the ground, ripping out the spider leg as she nearly collapsed to her stomach.
"No! No!" Mirko screamed in rage, pulling at the webbing across her body once more.
"AH!" Burnin shouted as she launched a fireball at the hunter, only to gasp out in pain from the slash of webbing across her chest and shoulder.
"Gah!" Iktomi then gasped as she stopped the web from her arm, her trembling hand bleeding out from the shredded gland. Everything in her body hurt, the pain making her mind so unfocused and blurry. But the rage inside of her pushed her through it, panting as she turned towards the bleeding waterbender on the ground. "You… you caused all of this nightmare for me. All of this…"
Katara could hardly breathe as the blood ran from her mouth, coughing out as a cold chill ran down her body. She looked down in terror to the tear in her outfit, revealing the open wound just below her chest. Her trembling fingers could hardly do anything for the blood wanting to escape, and nothing for the opening in her back. She could only stare up in utter fear as the spider woman hobbled her direction.
"I was… going to be so rich from this…" Iktomi wheezed out, her mouth dripping a mix of blood and venom. "Two… Two hundred million yen per brat. Who knows… how much those heroes would be worth." She growled out, "And now… I don't even care about that money."
The long fingers wrapping around Katara's face made her struggled breathing even harder, gasping in horror as the enraged hunter glared down at her.
"What concerns me now… is a brat as young as you this strong…" Iktomi wheezed out, her sharp nails scraping the trembling and bleeding teen's cheeks. "In fact… I feel frightened by… what you may grow up to become." Her bleeding mouth opened up slightly, her set of fangs lowering themselves. "I would feel better… if you never reach that."
Crawling across the ground, Burnin's heart raced as she saw the hunter over Katara, gasping as she clutched at her injury. "N-no!"
"Ka-Katara..!" Kendo shouted, panting and trying to get back up.
Bakugo struggled to push himself up, his eyes wide as Iktomi's mouth opened wide. "Get off her!"
Katara's struggling breaths grew faster as the long fangs dripping venom grew closer, unable to do anything but try to scream.
"RAAAAHHH!"
The sudden roar from behind made everyone in the cave turn, the explosion of stone rocking the mountain as Mirko launched herself at the hunter. "YOU SPIDER BITCH!"
"Mirko?!" Bakugo gasped out in shock.
Throwing herself out of the way, Iktomi barely dodged the kick coming at her head as Mirko flew by. "That… bullet wore off already?!" She wheezed out in shock, crawling back up as the bleeding rabbit skidded to a stop.
"You're going to pay for what you did!" Mirko shouted, wincing on her damaged leg.
Panting hard, Itkomi felt panic as the rabbit hero was back up, knowing she had no chance to stand up against Mirko now. She gritted her teeth and looked down to the bleeding waterbender, ready to drop down and grab her as a meat shield to get out of here. Before she could even move however… her body shivered as the sensation of another powerful force entered the area.
Something even stronger than Mirko.
She could only turn in terror as the bright blaze rushed through the tunnel pathway, unable to move as the flame hero rocketed right at her.
"JET BURN!"
The burning blur of Endeavor flying through the cavern slammed into the hunter, his flaming fist driving straight into her stomach. Iktomi screamed out at the powerful strike to her gut, unable to do anything as she was launched through the cavern and crashed through the far wall. As the boulders collapsed down from the impact, everyone stared in shock to the sudden figure floating towards the ground.
Endeavor panted as he came to a stop, his flames dissipating and landing on the ground. His body was sweating profusely, his core temperature pushed to his limits as he tried calming his breathing. "I… I'm sorry I'm late," Endeavor got out between his breaths, glancing up to the rabbit hero in front of him. Both he and Mirko locked eyes for only a few moments, each of them seeing the damage to one another, neither needing to even say anything about what had happened to one another. What he took note of however was the look of panic on her face, something he was never used to seeing on her, her eyes drifting down to the side. He turned and saw the other teens staring up at him, their injuries making his eyes widen in concern for their condition. Even Burnin caused him concern, the blood, staining her shirt as she sat up. But when he shifted his gaze to the side, he felt like his heart stopped to the sight he beheld.
"Oh god…"
Katara laid there on the ground, her lips trembling as blood continued to drip out of her mouth. He felt his mouth fall open in horror at the blood leaking through the waterbender's fingers, covering the hole on her chest. "En… Endeavor…" she gasped out.
"Katara!" He yelled out in terror, dropping down to her side. "Holy shit…" he muttered. Moving her hand out of the way, he froze in shock to the leaking wound just below her chest line. He looked back to Katara's face, seeing the utter terror in the teens eyes as she struggled to breathe.
After a few moments, the searing pain in Katara's body seemed to fade away as she lay there, gasping for air as she in fact began to feel cold. Her eyes widened slightly as everything seemed to go somewhat hazy, unable to focus properly from the overwhelming sensations beginning to take hold of her. She couldn't stop the powerful feeling that began to grow in her heart as she lay there bleeding on the ground, her eyes watering in terror at what she was experiencing.
The fact she was actually so close to dying.
"I… I'm scared…." She gasped out, her breath coming in quick gasps, her hand
Endeavor gritted his teeth and gripped her shoulders in anger. "We have to get her out of here now!"
"Not with that injury!" Mirko shouted at him, dropping beside the two. "You move her like that, and she's dead!"
Crawling to their side, Kendo looked down in utter disbelief, her watery eyes staring at her bleeding friend. "Come on, Katara, I know how strong you are! Fight this!"
Looking down at the bleeding teen, Endeavor knew the only way she was making it out of here was to stop some of the blood. Growling, he rolled her onto her side as she yelped in pain, seeing the injury through her back as well. "Help hold her still!"
As Mirko put her hands on Katara's side, Kendo reached up and put one of her hands onto Katara's shoulder, while the other gripped the waterbender's quivering hand as comfort. The two locked eyes for a second, both of them terrified as Endeavor's hands began to glow.
"I have to do this…" he hissed, the heat increasing as he positioned one hand above each side of her body. "Hold still."
The searing sensation to Katara's body made her eyes burst out from her face, screaming out in agony as he cauterized the injury. Kendo winced at the bloodcurdling cry, seeing the unbearable sensation to Katara. She thrashed at the immense pain, the two struggling to hold her without hurting her. She attempted to kick out, only for the sudden weight of Bakugo to hold her legs down.
"I know how tough you are, hair loops..." Bakugo growled and pinned her legs. "This shit isn't stopping you!"
After a moment the burning stopped, Endeavor pulling his hands away to see the wounds partially closed, but still leaking blood out. What worried him more however was internally, unsure what else had been damaged. But his concern then shifted as Katara's screams stopped, her body beginning to twitch. "Katara?!" Kendo panicked as Katara's grip loosened, her skin growing cold. "What's wrong with her?!"
"She's going into shock…" Endeavor warned as he reached down and scooped her up in his arms, wincing from his own pain as he stood with her. As he did, his heart skipped when her breathing suddenly slowed, her eyes rolling over, her shaking starting to lessen. Then, her arms fell to her side, going limp in the flame hero's arms. "Katara… Katara, stay with me!"
The girl in his arms didn't answer, unmoving as the others stared in utter shock. The Endeavor's mouth shook as he saw what happened on his mission, clenching his teeth and bursting off the ground, flying through the cavern as he rushed by the confused hero Majestic and out the mountain. "Don't you be going quiet, Katara…" He growled out, ignoring his pain as he looked down to the bleeding girl in his arms. "I know you are a stubborn one… Don't you be giving up now!"
Deep inside the cavern pathway, the battered form of Iktomi dragged her body across the ground with her one trembling hand. She barely moved faster than a snail, her broken body lacking any strength left. Every one of her spider legs were snapped off, along with her broken legs scraping on the stone. Her breathing came in small wheezes from her collapsed lung, barely able to lift her face off the ground as she gasped in utter agony.
More than the pain however, was the utter anger in the crippled woman's head; She was so set on getting what she saw as the greatest payment of her life. She had planned for these kids to be taken down quickly and to be out of here before the heroes could arrive. The distractions and obstacles seemed sound, along with the nomu and the other league member to fight off the pros. But no… the heroes had arrived so much faster than they had anticipated, and the kids were nothing like they ever thought. And now, she had not a single kid to call a hostage, and it seemed like every other member had been defeated as well. Everything she had, everything she had built… was gone.
The sound of footsteps coming made Iktomi panic, turning her gaze up to the source coming her way. Her eyes widened when the light chuckle echoed in the cave, seeing the blue flame user walking toward her.
"Wow, someone looks to be having a rough time," Touya snickered, tilting his head in amusement. "So much for some powerful hunter you were."
Coughing out blood, Iktomi scraped her nails across the stone as she saw the league member here, not even noticing the change of hair color as she seethed in rage. "You…" She growled, "... you bastard…"
"Seems like you aren't getting that payment that you were going for," Touya taunted as he scratched his face, running his finger over the rings on his cheeks. "And with all these heroes arriving now, perhaps it's time I make my way out of here.
"You…" Iktomi hissed as she arched her knuckles, gasping as she felt her trembling wrists split. "You caused this!"
Touya's hand ignited and melted the incoming webbing, smirking as he looked down to her bleeding hand. "Looks like you've really had it in with your guests."
"You…" Iktomi gurgled out and collapsed down, gasping for air. "You… all these kids… were nothing… like you stated."
"What, did they cause more trouble than you predicted?" Touya sighed, "If it was so difficult, you could've just turned and ran when you had the chance. But your own weakness was your downfall."
"What?" Iktomi hissed, clenching her twitching hand. "The hell… are you-
"Come on… the moment I dropped that money at your feet, I saw what you were." Touya clicked his tongue. "You were so set on getting so much money, that you chose to keep fighting when you saw you were overwhelmed. I was hoping you could've at least captured my precious target after everything."
Iktomi managed a small laugh at his statement, laughing through her coughs at the league member. "Your little target… is bleeding out on the floor. She will be… dead within the hour."
Touya raised his eyebrow in surprise at her words, only to begin laughing in amusement. "Is she now?"
Iktomi gurgled out another chunk of blood from her throat, hoping to have at least ruined his little plan he had attempted, struggling to pull herself up from the ground… only to stare into Touya's hand aimed at her face. "You… What are-
The spider woman screamed out as the blue flames engulfed her body, unable to thrash about to douse the intense fire. Touya stared in amusement as her cries grew fainter, until only the cracking sound of the fire remained. Exhaling, he slipped his hands into his pockets, turning and walking deeper through the cave."Such a shame… I was so interested in talking with Katara more about her and Shoto. Well, I had hoped to be the one to make her suffer, but I shouldn't be too greedy with what I get."
Snickering to himself, Touya kicked at a few rocks as he walked, excited to see the news that came out from everything that had happened, and to see what his father was going to do to try and come out of this situation. He couldn't wait to see what came next, and only wished he could see his brothers face after laugh echoed across the stone pathway, making his way towards one of the few hidden paths through the mountain.
Outside the caves, Setsuna's excitement for coming on this mission had faded as she helped the police move the injured to the many ambulances that had arrived. The brutality of the injuries she saw made her skin crawl, swallowing the lump in her throat as she helped the officer missing his arm onto a stretcher. As the man was wheeled into one of the cars, she rubbed her own arm in fear, now wishing she knew where Kendo was to make sure she was alright in all this.
"She's strong," Setsuna told herself, "she's too tough for some stupid gang to hurt her…."
Suddenly, the chatter around picked up, the green haired teen turning to see Endeavor flying towards the crowd. Behind the flame hero, she saw Majestic flying as well, her heart swelling in relief as she noticed the familiar redhead she knew on one of the floating rings behind. "Holy shit… now that's a relief." Setsuna sighed out, smiling as she ran in their direction. "This is going to be a crazy story to hear I bet."
As she got closer, however, her eyes noticed the form being carried in Endeavor's arms, the blood stained clothes making her heart race once more. As soon as the flame hero landed on the ground, her mouth fell open as the paramedics ran by her, staring at the bloodied body of Katara limp in his grasp. "Wh-what the…?"
"Hurry, get her down!" One of the men shouted as they pulled the bed up, helping guide the girl onto the top. Just seeing her condition made the medical team panic, immediately rushing her into the nearest van.
Setsuna stared in utter shock at the sight, watching as her fellow student was pulled into the van and the blood covered Endeavor crawled in after, the doors slamming shut as it sped down the dirt. The green haired teen stayed silent as her mentor arrived, turning in shock to see him and the others arrive, gasping to the revelation; every single person was beyond battered, blood covering their bodies as the medical staff rushed to their sides. And once she saw Kendo, she was happy to see her friend was alive, but no cheer could be made. Kendo's face was stricken with a look of fear and despair, one that made Setsuna even more afraid to learn what had transpired.
Inside the rushing ambulance, Endeavor could only stare in fear as the pair of EMT's worked on the bleeding teen, his concern for himself non existent as they hooked her into the IV's. He clenched his fists in rage at himself, pressing them into his face as he almost felt like screaming in utter rage and disappointment.
And at what had happened.
The raid on the hunters had lasted one hour and three minutes. The police had rounded up seven members of the team and arrested them; the members included Muteki, Sasori, Kobura, Sokudo, Fisi, Haraka, and Kavik, along with the league of villains member Muscular also being captured. Inside the base, they discovered the bodies of Rogue, and the leader of the hunters, Iktomi, nearly burnt to cinders. The hunter Vixen was never discovered, nothing except for her empty pistol down the mountainside. And the league of villain member Dabi was gone as well, having disappeared through the intricate tunnel system to another path a quarter mile away. While the organization of the hunters was effectively ended, to call it a success was the furthest from the truth anyone could've predicted.
As the day went on, the damage had been assessed for what the hero side suffered; Twelve police officers were killed in the battle, including Fujiyoshida captain Kunamora. Nine more police were in critical condition, some perhaps never returning to work again. The death of the hero Bullseye was also among the casualties, along with the seven other pro heroes sustaining highly critical injuries, where one would end up being forced into retirement. One sidekick and two students sustained highly severe injuries in the fight.
And one more whose condition was still unknown.
Notes: The climax to the hunters arc... has ended.
to say it was good... its hard to say that for our heroes, and our young waterbender.
This here... has been the replacement story to follow instead of the Overhaul Arc (Which still happens, just not for us to see).
What shall be the reactions of everyone else to what has transpired, and how will this affect the story from now on?
As a special note, new artwork has been posted of katara vs dabi, look to my profile for that. and go fund me still open for more manga pages to be made for this story.
I hope to see all of your reactions to this, your shock and confusion to what happens next.
Till next time...
