Hello everyone, be kind please. It's been some years since I have written. I am not really fluent in English, be indulgent! I am not that good to explain what I think so I will let just let you read my work.
This story, with a female Harry Potter, has been in my mind for some time now and I hope you will enjoy it. It is a crossover Harry Potter and the Vampire Diaries!
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or the Vampire Diaries or any of the characters mentioned in this story.

The familiar sight brought a smile to her face.
She knocked on the door and heard noises from the inside. The familiar face of Mrs Weasley when she opened the door brought a smile to her face. "Iris! You are here, we were waiting for you! You know you didn't have to knock, come inside." Molly Weasley said smiling as she gave one of her bone-crushing hug to the younger woman. Iris wrapped her arms around the Weasley matriarch frame and replied, "It's good to see you, Mrs Weasley."
When she stepped inside the house, she was filled with mouth-watering smell; she turned her head to see spoons in pots stirring and frying pans. She was greeted with multiple voices calling her name; the whole Weasley family was here smiling at her.
Hermione and Ron were the first to reach her. The Golden Trio was together hugging one another. Iris then hugged every member of the family, finishing with an expecting Fleur who was smiling widely at her. "Iris! How good it is to see you; I have missed you." Iris reciprocated and replied "Pregnancy suit you, Fleur. You are glowing."
"How is he? Are there any changes?" The blonde French asked her, eyebrows furrowed slightly. Iris shook her head "No, he is still the same. They are still running some tests." "Well, I'm sure he will wake up soon." The brunette smiled at her optimism but didn't say anything.
As Molly was finishing preparing dinner, smalls groups were forming, starting new conversation. Iris was with Ginny who was complaining about Fleur or "Phlegm" as she liked to call her. Iris admonished her whenever she called Fleur like that, defending her "She is not that bad, Ginny. You should get to know her." The younger girl scowled and said, "I know…" They didn't get to talk more as Molly called all of them to eat.
They ate with gusto, laughing and joking during dinner. Iris smiled as she drank a bit of butterbeer, liking how they could forget everything for just a moment. She didn't want that moment to end, but she knew she had to break this merry ambiance. She had put it off as long as she could and Hermione kept shooting accusatory glances, eyes saying 'Get on with it, will you...'
Dinner finished, they settled next to the fireplace, sitting on the sofa and chairs; Arthur Weasley beginning to snooze a little bit. Iris sighed and cleared her throat catching everyone's attention. When all eyes were on her, she said, "I need to announce something." She internally winced, thinking 'What a way to set the mood, Iris'.
"I am moving away." As soon as she uttered that sentence, she was assaulted with "WHAT?" "No, you are kidding, right?" and "Why?" She glanced at her two best friends who looked at her sadly. "No, I am not kidding, and I am not doing that because I want to. I spoke to the minister a few weeks ago…" She started to explain when they all calmed down.
Flashback
The secretary went to the Woman Who Conquered, smiling brightly, and said "Minister Shacklebolt will see you now, Lady Potter." Iris nodded her thanks and went inside the gigantic office. Kingsley Shacklebolt was newly appointed as Minister of Magic, but huge stacks of paper could be seen inside. Work had piled up and the Ministry was still trying to find a new organisation.
"Iris, thank you for coming. Would you like some tea?"
"No thank you, Minister. I am good." Iris said as she sat in the chair opposing the tall man. "How are you finding your new job, Minister?" said man gave a low chuckle and replied "Call me Kingsley, Iris. I must say I am not bored. Unfortunately, we are still finding mistakes and false reports made before the war. We need to reshape our structure and rebuild the Ministry from the inside."
"I can imagine. I am not much of a help but if you need any, just tell me." Iris said nodding. "Listen Iris, I called you hear to talk to you about the Auror Office, I would like you to become an Auror and maybe lead a team out there to catch the fugitive still on the loose." Kinglsey announced, he had tried to recruit her since the war ended. He needed someone he could trust and knew Iris could be that person. "I am sorry Kinsley, I am retiring. I am just tired of all this fighting." Iris replied, touched by his gesture but she knew she didn't want this life. "Well, I can't blame you. You have spent your whole life fighting for your life. You look tired." She nodded and mentioned she didn't get much sleep lately as she spent a lot of time at St Mungo's hospital. Moreover, whenever she was out, especially in Diagon Alley and the Leaky Cauldron, she was easily recognised, and fans followed her everywhere she went. They talked a bit more about stalkers and journalists trying to get an interview out of her.
"Well, maybe you need change of scenery, Iris." Kingsley blurted out. Her emerald eyes widened, and she replied, "How can I leave? My whole life is here, HE is here." Kinglsey smiled slightly "I am not saying to leave the Wizarding World completely, but maybe move somewhere else and you could still come back whenever you want. You are Iris Lilith Potter; you can do anything you want. You have graduated Hogwarts and finished your mastery in Potions, Charms and Transfiguration. We can install the Floo network where you will stay and provide you with portkeys. You know that you don't need to live here in England where every wizard and witch know your face." When he saw her face filled with doubt, he added, "You don't need to decide right now you know. Just let me know if you want to move, I will help you."
She left shortly after, pondering on what he said. He knew he was right, but she was not sure what she wanted to do.
She talked to Hermione and Ron and even though they were saddened by the thought of her so far away from them, they knew it was the best for her; and she would be one phone call away. They even suggested moving to a muggle area, since Iris was well known across the world.
Still conflicted, she visited Hogwarts and had tea with Minerva McGonagall and talked about the new term, the newly arrived students, and most of all her life outside Hogwarts. As always, the former transfiguration teacher had sound advice to give Iris. The raven-haired young woman finally made her decision; She would move away and try to heal from the war. She was still haunted by nightmares of Voldemort and death eaters torturing her friends. Everywhere she looked she was reminded of friends and family who died or suffered.
End of flashback
As she finished, she lifted her eyes to look at the smiling faces of the only family she ever knew. She saw understanding and knew she was making the right call. Molly gave her another hug and said "You will always be welcomed here, sweetheart. You will visit us all the time, right?" She only nodded, eyes tearing up.
Ginny then asked, "Where will you move and when?" "Fate and Ron decided I would move to Mystic Falls, Virginia in the US. He threw a dart on a map, and it landed there. It's a small muggle town and the goblins helped buy a house there. Kreacher has been making arrangement there. I will leave England in a fortnight by muggle transport."
She was asked a few questions; then they laughed and joked more. When Fleur rested her head on Bill's shoulder, tired and feet aching. They decided to retire, and the movement followed; Fred and George went back to the joke shop in Diagon Alley, Percy and his newly fiancée Audrey went home to their small apartment and the rest of the Weasley family retired to their room. The Golden Trio flooed to Grimmauld Place. The house had been cleaned and finally, they managed to tear Walburga Black's frame from the wall the year before. They talked a bit more, making plans. Hermione was planning to travel to Australia to visit her parents. When she went there after the war ended, she gave them back their memories and the Granger couple decided to stay there, quite liking the warm climate. Ron would follow to ask the Granger Patriarch for his daughter's hand, not that the latter knew about it. They went to bed late that night, knowing it would be the last one spent together.
The next day, she went to St Mungo's as always for the past year and a half. At the same time, every day, she crossed the familiar white corridor and stopped at an equally white door with the number 741 on it. She knocked softly knowing all to well there would be no answer today either. She entered the room and sat on a chair next to the sleeping figure. There were still no changes, he was still sleeping. She was internally cursing, she wanted to know what curse hit him and sent him in a coma since the war, but no matter the tests, it showed nothing.
He noticed he was clean-shaven and wondered if it was the work of a nurse or his mother. It was answered when the bathroom door was opened and a middle-aged woman, bronze haired with a few white strands, came out whipping her hand on a towel. She looked up, saw Iris, and smiled "How are you my dear?" Emma Diggory said. "I am fine, what about you? Did you spend the night here?" Iris replied as she embraced the older woman. "Oh yes, Amos spent the night at the Ministry, he told me it was big mess to sort out." They laughed and sat together near the hospital bed.
"How are the preparations for the moving going, Iris?" She asked good-naturedly. Iris looked down and bit her lips nervously "I will be ready by the next week. You know, I don't want to leave him alone." She said as she looked at her sleeping lover, she twisted the ring on her left-hand ring finger. Emma's mouth formed an O and she said softly "Oh my dear, you are not leaving Cedric alone. You need time to heal too. He would want you to go." She rubbed Iris' shoulder, and then took her left hand. She sighed softly as her fingers touched the diamond ring Iris wore.
"Cedric always spoke about you even when you were not acquainted, he told me how brave you were and how he had never a girl so beautiful. I always teased him saying he had a crush on you, but he denied it saying you were too young, you had never spoken to one another, and he just admired you. One summer, after your third year, he sat down and told me he had found the love of his life and he wanted to be with you. You can imagine how shocked I was, here was my baby, not even sixteen, telling me he knew whom he wanted to marry. He told me when you fell off your broom during a Quidditch match and when he came to see you in the infirmary. He felt so guilty, and you reassured him and waved him off when he wanted a rematch. I knew then, he was in love with you. I am so happy you are here with him." Emma shed a few tears and wiped Iris' cheek wet with tears. Iris whispered "Thank you…"
She let her tears fall down, it broke her heart to leave without him but he needed to be here, the healers were trying to find a way to wake him up. However she knew she had to leave to heal and learn to live for herself. She wanted to live here with her family and with him, build a home but it hurt too much knowing she wouldn't be able to get that right now.
The next few days were busy for Iris and Kreacher. The latter apparated from London to Mystic falls to prepare the house and he refused any help from his mistress. Meanwhile, Iris was busy putting orders in her affairs. After making amends to the goblins and donating a large sum to repair Gringotts, the goblin helped acquire the house, convert galleons to dollars, set up muggle identification. She stopped by the Menagerie and got a black kneazle who seemed to only accept her. She got some food and goodies for her new companion and left Diagon Alley. Iris also paid visits to her friends to say goodbye; she knew she would not be able to see them as often as she could even if she could come anytime she wanted. She would prioritize Cedric, the Weasleys and most of all Teddy, her godson. Iris didn't have the heart to take him with her; she wanted him to grow up where his parents met and lived with his last leaving relative. Andromeda understood Iris leaving and promised to take care of Teddy and visit Mystic Falls when she could. Their farewell was heart breaking, Teddy cried when he understood Iris would not be around, he changed his hair colour in blue indicating his sadness. She spent an entire night with him, cuddling and promising to always be around.
Then, the day for her to leave came too soon. She passed by St Mungo's, kissed Cedric and said, "I love you." Then she went to the airport with Ron and Hermione. The latter repeated "You have my phone number, right, and my address e-mail? We will be back in a month so don't hesitate to come home then. Don't be a stranger and call us!" She gave one of her bone-crushing hug. Iris smiled softly as she wrapped her arms around the bigger frame of her male best friend. Ron wasn't as eloquent but his hug said as much "Be safe mate, and don't get into trouble without us."
Iris Lily Potter then left England one Saturday. After arriving to the US, she took a cab and arrived in front of a huge house surrounded by a massive parcel of green grass, tall trees. The house was isolated and by the edge of a forest. She made a note to get a car, wincing slightly since she didn't really drive since she got her driving license. She stood in the porch, turned the shiny golden doorknob and opened the white door. She was greeted first by the sight of her kneazle, Galyna, lounging on the carpet and then by the sight of Kreacher waiting anxiously for her.
She looked around and whispered "Here comes a new adventure…" She then closed the door.
