Chapter 6:production (Part 3)
Tori heard action and she was swept away in a crowd backstage. "Let me go!" she shouted as people continued to pull at her clothes. "My Dad is a cop." The backstage crew and Leon stepped back putting their hands up.
The senior director said. "Take her behind the screen and get her dressed!" They pulled her behind the screen. Lane walked past them and looked at all the boys trying to follow.
"Just the girls," He shouted and the boys looked behind them and walked away from a half-dressed Tori behind the screen.
"Cut!" The director shouted and the adults in the room laughed.
Tori didn't laugh. That was weird, right? It was just a joke and she shrugged it off.
"Tori let's run it again, be a little more frantic trying to get away?" The director noted and the actress nodded and went back to her mark "From go get her something cool to wear, and...Action"
Transition to School: Vic at School
INT. HOLLYWOOD ARTS - TORI'S CLASSROOM - DAY
Vic dismisses her class, the students filing out, chatting excitedly about their next classes or upcoming auditions. Vic, however, remains seated at her desk, a quiet contemplation in her eyes. Bradley, an observant 11-year-old, approaches her cautiously.
BRADLEY (softly) Hey, Miss Justice?
VIC (smiling) Hey, Bradley. What's up?
BRADLEY I was wondering... you and my mom, Liz. You guys were best friends in high school, right?
VIC (surprised) Your mom, Liz? We knew each other, but I wouldn't say we were best friends.
BRADLEY (confused) Oh, she always talks about you and shows me your videos when we're together. I thought you guys were like, BFFs or something.
Vic chuckles, a bittersweet smile on her face.
VIC Well, Bradley, sometimes people remember things differently.
BRADLEY (nods) Yeah, I guess so. But my mom says you were amazing back then, and she's right. You're awesome.
Vic's smile widens, touched by Bradley's sincerity.
VIC Thanks, Bradley. I appreciate that. If you ever want to hear some real stories about high school, just let me know.
BRADLEY (grinning) Sure thing, Miss Justice. See you tomorrow!
As Bradley leaves the classroom, Vic watches him go, a mix of emotions lingering in her eyes. The past, it seems, holds different memories for everyone involved.
INTERVIEW SET - VIC
VIC sits comfortably on the interview set, a warm smile on her face.
VIC (smiling) Honestly, it's a bit surprising. I mean, Liz and I knew each other, and We had our moments—shared laughs, and some drama, but I wouldn't have guessed she saw us as friends. Let alone besties.
Vic walked briskly down the bustling streets of Hollywood, the familiar hustle and bustle of the entertainment industry surrounding her. The sun cast long shadows, and she found herself in a rhythm, her thoughts weaving between hopes for a successful audition and the lingering uncertainty of the reboot's fate.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and she fished it out to see Jade's name flashing on the screen. A smile spread across her face as she answered the call.
"Hey, Jade!" Vic greeted with genuine warmth.
"Hey, Vic! What's up?" Jade's voice crackled through the phone.
"Just heading to another audition. You know, the usual grind," Vic replied, the sounds of the city serving as the backdrop to their conversation.
"Break a leg, or whatever they say. You got this," Jade encouraged.
"Thanks, Jade. Your confidence means a lot. How's everything on your end?" Vic asked, the concern evident in her tone.
Jade let out a chuckle. "Same old, same old. Just dealing with the chaos of life. Anyway, tell me about this audition. What's the role? Any juicy details?"
Vic laughed, appreciating Jade's curiosity. "It's for a character in a crime drama. You know me – always exploring different genres. Who knows, maybe I'll be the next big detective on TV."
"That would be something. I can already picture you in a sharp suit, solving mysteries left and right. Just make sure to keep it interesting," Jade teased.
Vic grinned. "Oh, I'll do my best to bring some excitement to the crime-solving game. But enough about me. What's going on in your world?"
Jade's voice took on a more serious note. "Same old drama. You know how it is. But hey, good luck with the audition. Break a leg, detective."
"Thanks, Jade. I'll catch up with you later. Take care!" Vic said, feeling a surge of gratitude for the brief connection with her friend.
As Vic approached the audition location, she took a deep breath, preparing herself for whatever awaited behind the audition room doors. The city continued its hustle around her, indifferent to the auditions and aspirations that unfolded within its midst.
Jade was feeling a bit buzzed and after chatting with Tori on the phone, she knew Tori was at an audition. In that moment, Jade decided to share her true feelings with Tori.
Jade: It took me a while to realize my mistake. Back then, Cat needed someone to lean on, especially with everything going on with Ben. And Will seemed...nice.
Tori: I understand. We were all trying to figure things out back then. But why didn't you come to me?
Jade: In hindsight, I should have turned to you for support. We were dating at the time, and I regret not coming to you. But I was told to protect my reputation and living with Will seemed like the "right" decision.
Tori: We were in a relationship back then, Jade. You could have leaned on me.
Jade: I know, Tori. And I should have. I made a mistake. Maybe I was just using my image as an excuse.
Tori: It's all in the past now. We've both grown since then.
Jade was ecstatic when she received an email from the network. They had greenlit the show and it was going to start filming in a few months. She immediately called Tori to tell her the news.
Jade: Tori, you'll never believe it. The network just greenlit our show!
Tori: No way! That's amazing!
Jade: I know, right? I couldn't have done it without you.
Tori: You did all the hard work, Jade. I just helped a little.
Jade: Stop being modest, Tori. Your talent and hard work are a big part of why this show got picked up.
Tori: Thank you, Jade. I'm so excited for this opportunity.
Jade: Me too. And now that we'll be working together again, maybe we can finally put all our past issues behind us and move forward as friends?
Tori: Absolutely. Let's leave the drama in Hollywood Arts.
Jade: Deal. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I have a good feeling about this show and our friendship.
Tori: Me too, Jade.
both women couldn't contain their excitement for the future ahead. They were both grateful for this second chance at not only their career but also their friendship. And deep down, both Jade and Tori knew that with each other by their side, they could conquer anything that came their way.
Cut to: Vic and Daniela's Conversation
INT. VIC'S CHILDHOOD HOME - LIVING ROOM - DAY
VIC is bringing in the last box, surrounded by the familiar layout of her childhood home. She wipes her forehead, feeling a bit nostalgic.
DANIELA enters from the kitchen, holding a cup of coffee.
DANIELA (grinning) Ah, the prodigal sister returns! How does it feel to be back?
VIC (smiling) Nostalgic, Dani. This place holds so many memories.
DANIELA (raising an eyebrow) Memories, huh? You mean the kind where you were the annoying little sister who always stole my clothes?
VIC (laughing) Guilty as charged. But seriously, I'm thinking of keeping most of my furniture here. It's more... upscale.
DANIELA (scoffing) More upscale? What does that even mean?
VIC (smirking) It means I have a sophisticated taste, and you, my dear sister, could use an upgrade.
DANIELA (teasing) Upgrade, huh? I don't remember needing an upgrade when I was the one who moved out first.
VIC (playfully) Well, now you have a chance to experience the luxury of my furniture. Consider it a gift.
DANIELA (sipping her coffee) A gift? More like an invasion. But fine, as long as you help me with the rent.
VIC and DANIELA are unpacking boxes, surrounded by a mix of Vic's high-end furniture and the familiar layout of their childhood home.
DANIELA (smirking) You know, Vic, I've been thinking. Leon might be onto something with this marriage idea.
VIC (frowning) You're on his side?
DANIELA (grinning) Well, the way I see it, your life needs a bit of a shake-up. And what better way to grab people's attention than a juicy romance?
VIC (scoffing) Juicy romance? Are you serious, Dani?
DANIELA (teasing) Absolutely! You're practically ancient in Hollywood years. Time to spice things up.
VIC (rolling her eyes) I'm not ancient, and I don't need to spice up anything. Besides, who would I even marry?
DANIELA (slyly) Oh, I've got that covered. I can find you the perfect match.
VIC (sarcastically) Oh, great. I'm sure you have a lineup of eligible bachelorettes waiting.
DANIELA (smiling) You bet I do! Imagine the headlines: "Pop Star Vic Vega Ties the Knot!" It's foolproof.
VIC (resigned) You sound like a pimp, Dani.
DANIELA (laughing) Well, it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it. Besides, I'm your sister. Who better to manage your image?
VIC (narrowing her eyes) No mixing business with family, Dani. That's a rule.
DANIELA (pouting) Fine, be boring. But mark my words, this marriage idea has potential.
The air in the writer's room crackled with creative energy as Jade made her grand entrance, signaling the team's return to work on "Just Tori." The writers, fueled by a renewed sense of purpose, gathered around the table, eager to chart the course for the fallout from the pilot episode.
"We're back!" Jade announced, her enthusiasm infectious as the room erupted in cheers and applause. The writers knew they had a ten-episode arc ahead, and the goal was not just to conclude Tori's story but also to pave the way for the possibilities in "Just Vic."
Jade, taking the lead, posed the question, "What's the first step after Liz drops the divorce bomb on Evan? We know Elitoria is endgame, but how do we get there?"
The writer's room buzzed with anticipation as Jade and the team gathered to craft the next episode of "Just Tori." The recent revelation that Liz wanted a divorce from Avan had injected a new layer of complexity into the narrative, and the writers were eager to explore the emotional nuances.
Jade, taking her seat at the head of the table, addressed the room, "Alright, team, we've got a juicy development. Liz drops the divorce bomb on Avan in Vic's house. It's a pivotal moment, and we need to dive deep into the aftermath."
The writers exchanged glances, recognizing the potential for rich storytelling. A writer suggested that Vic, feeling an unexpected sense of guilt, would embark on a mission to reunite Liz and Avan, reminiscent of her high school days.
"What if Vic, in her well-meaning way, decides to play matchmaker and bring Liz and Avan back together?" a writer suggested.
Jade's eyes lit up with intrigue. "I love it. Vic's heart is in the right place, but we know she tends to unintentionally complicate things. How can we weave humor, heart, and a touch of chaos into this storyline?"
The team brainstormed various scenarios, exploring Vic's attempts to orchestrate chance encounters, plan romantic gestures, and meddle in the couple's affairs—all with the best intentions.
"Let's throw in some classic mix-ups and misunderstandings. Maybe Vic's efforts to reunite them lead to comical situations that bring both laughter and introspection," Jade suggested.
As the writers delved into the intricate dynamics between Liz, Avan, and Vic, the narrative took shape. The episode would not only address the challenges of relationships but also delve into Vic's growth and the complexities of trying to mend what might be irreparable.
"Perfect," Jade declared, capturing the essence of the episode. "Let's explore the humor, the heartache, and the unexpected twists. This one's going to be a rollercoaster for our characters, and I can't wait to see where it takes us."
"Perfect," Jade said, a satisfied smile on her face. "Let's build on that. Remember, we're not just concluding 'Just Tori'; we're laying the foundation for 'Just Vic.' How can we make Vic's journey relatable and compelling?"
The writers dove into the challenge, immersing themselves in the creative process. As they shaped Vic's post-fame life, the room transformed into a hub of storytelling, each member contributing to the tapestry of drama, emotion, and growth that would define the next chapter in Tori's journey.
Cut to Evening: Vic's Unexpected Visitors
INT. VIC'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
VIC sits on her couch, enjoying a plate of mashed potatoes when the doorbell rings unexpectedly. She opens the door to find AVAN and LIZ, engaged in a heated argument.
LIZ HA! I told you!
AVAN (upset) Vic, did you tell Liz you were moving back into this house?
VIC (raising an eyebrow) That's why you guys are fighting?
LIZ (teasing) Oh, Oh Justice I thought it was bad enough that you started teaching but moving back with Mommy and Daddy.
Vic (Annoyed) They don't live here.!
AVAN (ignoring Liz) Did you need anything?
LIZ (scoffing) Why would she need anything from you?
VIC (sighing) Can we not do this here? Liz, Avan, please.
AVAN (insisting) Liz come on!
VIC (mutters) Like old times.
LIZ (looking at the mashed potatoes) Seriously, Vic? Mashed potatoes?
VIC (defensively) It's comfort food. Don't judge.
LIZ (mock gasping) Are you eating your feelings?
AVAN (frustrated) This isn't about mashed potatoes, Liz.
VIC (muttering) Or maybe it is. Potatoes never betray you. (Moves back to the couch)
AVAN (ignoring Vic's comment) Liz, let's not make this a big deal. It's Vic's choice.
LIZ (sarcastic) You've always been the diplomatic one, Avan.
VIC (interjecting) Can we talk about this without tearing my living room apart?
The argument between AVAN and LIZ escalates, and Liz can't help but wonder why Avan is so concerned about Vic's decisions.
LIZ (scoffing) Why do you even care if I'm supportive of her? She's the one who made a whole mess of her life.
AVAN (defensive) It's not about that. It's about being there for each other. We're friends.
LIZ (raising an eyebrow) Friends, huh? Or is there still something more there?
VIC (interjecting) There's nothing more, Liz. Avan and I are just friends.
AVAN (looking at Liz incredulously) Why would I still have a thing for Vic? That's ridiculous.
LIZ (smiling sarcastically) Is it, though? You always had a soft spot for her.
VIC (rolling her eyes) And I've always made it clear that I'm not interested. Can we not turn my living room into a relationship drama?
AVAN (irritated) Liz, why would I be such an idiot?
LIZ (screaming) I want a divorce!
The room falls silent, the weight of Liz's declaration hanging in the air. The episode ends on a dramatic note, leaving the audience eagerly awaiting the resolution of the unfolding drama.
