Chapter 4 Jason

Marcia and the woman had steered the canoe just to the wharf that the warehouse was built on. They got out and walked to the stairs leading up to the door of the warehouse.

"Miss Clementine, What are the plans for the Bolt Brothers?" Marcia asked.

"We are going to Divide and conquer. Before we send them off to places we will need to get their signatures on the deed of trust. Then once that is done, we will dispose of them properly!" Miss Clementine said with a smile on her face. She relished the thought of accomplishing this one act of revenge. The Bolt's as far as she was concerned were the cause of her sister's demise as well as the girls' father's death. She had worried so much over the lack of parents for Lisabeth and Marcia. But she kept her distance until she learned that Marcia also had the same thoughts as she did. Clementine was not to be trifled with. She had killed her sister, but only because her sister had moved away from their home. She had then poisoned the father when the girls were a little older, so that she would get control of them. But that did not happen. Lisabeth had gone to that mill owner and had gotten the paperwork for their emancipation before Clementine could do anything.

"Well, that is fine, I have Marcia, she will be my protégé." Clementine thought.

"Marcia, do you have the rooms prepared?" she asked

"Yes, Miss Clementine. They are ready!" good, I need you to stay in this room until I have finished with my business. There is coffee and food for you." She said pointing to the table on one side of the windowless room. Marcia was happy, she enjoyed coffee and also was very had left with only one bag and no food. Clementine had promised she would see the world and they would travel together.

Jason meanwhile was tied to a chair in a room with just a table and a chair. Clementine arrived, she had her riding crop and a helper, named Jonesy. They walked into the room. She looked at Jason who was sitting in the center of the room. He had fallen asleep, she struck him with her riding crop and placed a piece of paper on the table, instructing Jonesy to untie the man's hands. Jason woke up and glared at Clementine.

"Do you know me, Jason?" she asked. He grunted at her.

"Well, yes, you would know me. You were the one that stopped me from killing my sister that first night I was here in Seattle! But I still killed her, so you did not win!" She said sneering at him.

"What do you want Clementine!" He said through clenched teeth.

"Just a signature from you, then I will let you go!" she said placing the paper and pen in front of him. He looked at it, he knew why and what the paper was all about! She wanted to be sure that Marcia and Lisabeth were taken care of. It was all the Bolt's fault that her sister had died. When the girls and their father were alone, there in Seattle, she had tried to get the mountain, but she had not planned well enough because her brother-in-law spoke to Jason about his sister in law and warned him. But now, he had no idea where his brothers were. He vaguely remembered they had all been thrown in the wagon and taken away but where they were was a mystery to him.

"What if I don't sign?" Jason asked his voice even and calm. He watched as she stood on the opposite side of the table. She was tall, almost as tall as he was. Her workman was taller and had muscles that even Jason was a little worried about.

"If you don't sign, One of your brothers or both may begin to loose parts of their body, starting with a finger!" she said as she snapped the riding crop across his face.

"You may be battered and bruised, but are you willing to risk your brother's lives?" she said and smiled as she walked to the door.

"Think about it. You have 1 hour. If it is not signed by then I start taking body parts, perhaps the thumb of your youngest brother who is very good at playing the guitar!" With that she walked out. There was no light in the room, no window to bring in air, Jason was alone in the dark with a lantern on the table as a light to see to sign the papers with. She had left his hands untied so that he would be able to sign the paper. He did nothing, he was thinking. How was he going to get out and save his brothers?

Swede was watching the warehouses. He now knew where the Bolts were. He was waiting for someone to arrive when he heard a noise behind him. Quickly, he moved away from the place he had been standing and watching and to a large boulder which hid him very well, for there were a couple of men walking around the area. He stayed quiet as he listened to their conversation.

"I tell, you she is crazy, she drowned a man because he did not put the rose bush in the correct place. She is very strong, she physically pushed him down the hill and into the water. When the authorities found him, his pockets had been full of coins. As if he had drowned himself because of the coins that had been stolen!" Jack said as he walked around the boulder to see if there wasn't someone on the other side, The other man was walking around it the opposite way.

"Ain't nobody here!" Sparky said as he looked all around.
"Say, did you say you saw someone up here? If they was up here, where would they hide?" Sparky asked. Jack shushed him and pointed to the top of the rock. At that moment, Swede jumped down and knocked the two of them out. He dragged them to the bushes and tied them up with a piece of rope that he had found. Then he left them there and went back around to see if anyone was coming from Seattle.
