Hello, everyone, here's the next chapter. I am really slow, sorry.
Recap
That night, Bonnie trashed in her sleep. She was dreaming and sweat drops appeared on her forehead.
The dream
She was in the forest near the old church and the tomb, it was dark, the moon was barely visible. Suddenly, she heard whispers calling her name. Bonnie looked around scared, the whispers continued and told her to go to the tomb. The wind pushed her toward there, so she followed the whispers as they got louder. She went inside and saw a figure in the shadows. The torches lit up and a familiar face was revealed.
"Grams?" She asked shocked, she ran to the older witch and hugged her. Sheila Bennet hugged her granddaughter back and said "Bonnie, we don't have much time. The ancestors helped reach you."
"Why?" She asked as she stepped back. "You need to find Iris, Bonnie." She said. "Who is Iris, Grams?" A dark shadow passed through them like a black gust of wind. "We don't have any more time, Bonnie. They have found me. Find Iris, you need her help." Sheila said as she began disappearing.
"Wait, Grams, don't go! How do I find her and who is she?" Bonnie screamed as the wind got stronger and pushed her grandmother further away from.
End of the dream
Bonnie woke up startled and panting. "Grams, who is Iris…?"
End of Recap
"You can't trust Katherine, Elena! She is a manipulative liar." Stefan said to his girlfriend, angry she went behind his back to talk to Katherine. "She can't get out of the tomb, Stefan! I was completely safe, and I needed to talk to her, to understand what Klaus wants with me." Elena replied, walking away from him. Frustrated, Stefan passed a hand through his hair and sighed. He crossed the room, cupped her cheeks, and said softly "I can't lose you Elena, she is too dangerous. I am just worried about you." Her gaze softened and she nodded. Elena wrapped her arms around him and put her head on his shoulder "You won't Stefan. I love you". Then she kissed him.
As she went to bed, Elena recalled the past few days. Things were hectic and she didn't have had the time to sort her thoughts out, especially with the Salvatore brothers around. She knew everyone around her just wanted to protect her, but Elena was sure of one thing; she would not allow anyone to die for her. Jenna stabbing herself because of Katherine was a wake-up call back then. At first, she didn't know all the danger she was getting into, and she didn't know she was getting her family and friends in danger either.
The brunette sighed; she was getting a headache. She remembered Katherine's face as she talked about the death of her parents, her own ancestors… Klaus was cruel and killed every single person Katherine loved. For the first time since she met Katherine, she felt sorry for her. Elena fell asleep wondering how things were going to work out.
A few days later
Bonnie quickly looked away and wiped out the blood coming out of her nose. 'I need to get stronger… But how? Nobody can help me…' Then she thought of her dream and of her grams telling her to find Iris, she wondered if she was another witch who could help her.
She helped Jeremy get back on his feet and looked at Stefan "I am sorry, Stefan. I am not strong enough." In return, he shook his head and said "No, it's okay, Bonnie. Go rest now, I will be fine".
Sure, they had the moonstone, but at what cost? Stefan was trapped inside the tomb with Katherine and Jeremy was injured. After getting Jeremy home and telling him she couldn't have a romantic relationship with him, she went home and had a restless night.
Meanwhile, Elena and Damon got back from their unexpected and surprising meeting with Elijah. Still arguing, Elena told him repeatedly she didn't want to be saved if her family and everyone she loved was going to be in danger and Damon just replied that it was not up to her anymore, since she could not be trusted. Damon was still berating her for putting herself in danger and for trusting Rose, the vampire kidnapped her a few days ago to deliver her to Elijah. Rose had escaped quickly after Elijah made his presence known. Arriving in Mystic Falls, she learned about Stefan and rushed to the old church, where she argued once more with Damon. Elena knew she had to do something, she couldn't let Stefan be trapped, especially with Katherine inside. She made her decision that night, consequences be damned, and she wouldn't let the others decide for her. She thought of Elijah, the original vampire didn't take her, and he wanted to make sure his brother Klaus, didn't learn of her existence. She pondered on a deal she could make with him.
For the next few days, Bonnie, Damon, Jeremy, and Caroline tried to put in place their plan to destroy the moonstone and to get Stefan out of the tomb. However, with Elena trying to steal the stone to sacrifice herself and the arrival of a friend of Mason, a werewolf when the full moon was near, things got complicated for them. It took Bonnie to trap Elena inside her own house after she tried to leave with the moonstone for them to begin setting their plan in motion. Stefan wasn't sure they had the right mindset when Damon came to give him provisions, but he was still stuck with Katherine.
Bonnie had a real problem she couldn't figure out. She knew she wasn't strong enough to destroy the moonstone, so how was she going to do it? She then thought of Luka, maybe he could help her destroy it, but would he do it when she channelled his magic without his consent, and most importantly, would he help her without asking too many questions… She knew it didn't matter, she had to get it done before Klaus arrived in Mystic Falls. Perhaps, Luka would know about this Iris.
Later that day, she went to his apartment and knocked on the door. Luka opened surprised to see her. She lifted his necklace and comprehension replaced the surprise on his features, he gingerly took it and looked at her suspiciously "I don't know what makes me upset. That I showed you how to channel or that you almost killed me." He said. "Luka, I am so sorry… I wouldn't have done what I did unless it was really important." She replied. She began to explain her reasons without really explaining but he cut her off and said, "I forgive you". He opened the door to let her enter and told her as a fellow witch, he and his father felt it was their duty to help her, as she looked around to see numerous grimoires. She sat in front of him and asked him if he knew how to break a bind between a spell and a talisman. When he offered to help her in her research, she was ecstatic, and she looked at him with interest. Later that day, after nightfall, Bonnie found herself on a rooftop surrounded by candles and with Luka in front her. They held hands and began chanting with the moonstone levitating in the air. After a few minutes of chanting, the flames burned brighter, and the moonstone exploded in hundreds of sparks. Bonnie looked amazed and grateful she finally did it. She thanked Luka for his help and went to Elena's house. Little did she know, Luka waited on the rooftop until he was sure she left the premisses to produce the small white stone from one of his pants' pocket. He looked regretfully at the direction the curly haired witch left and went to tell the good news to his father. Jonas asked his son when he entered "You were successful?", Luka replied positively but he wasn't sure it was the right thing to do. His father stopped him when he was about to go to bed "Wait, there's one more thing Elijah need us to do before we lose the full moon."
Jonas went to the tomb with Elijah and lifted the spell restricting the vampires inside to get out. Stefan looked confused at the pair. The oldest vampire said "You are free to go. Elena and I made a deal, I have promised to keep her loved ones safe." Katherine looked fearfully at the elegant vampire and when she tried to escape, he stopped her and compelled her to stay inside, adding "When Klaus comes, he'll want to know exactly where you are."
Stefan reunited with Elena who explained to him, Elijah was invited into her home by Jenna, he was posing as a writer who wanted to learn about Mystic Falls' history. She finally made a deal with him to keep herself from danger for now and she wouldn't try to find Klaus and he would help her keep her family and friends safe. His head was full of questions, but he preferred to relish her hugs and kisses.
While Bonnie was busy with Luka trying to destroy the moonstone or so she thought, Damon made himself an enemy of Jules, Mason's friend, who 'marked' him at the Mystic Grill when he tried to poison her with wolfsbane. He didn't understand what she meant until she barged into his house in her wolf form and tried to bite his head off. It was thanks to Rose, who came back to apologise, that he was still alive. In return, she was unfortunately bitten by Jules on the shoulder. Jules awoke the next day, in a camp, ravaged by her. She had blood trickling down the corner of her mouth. She quickly adorned clothes and put the bodies together to burn them. She didn't expect a policeman coming. She knelled down and faked her tears, telling the newcomer her friends were attacked by a wolf. As soon as he had his back at her, she grabbed a piece of wood and struck him. She finished what she started and left looking back making sure she covered her tracks.
She made some plans to get Tyler on her side. Now that she knew Mason was killed by the vampires, she knew she could use it to her advantage.
On Tyler's mind, as it was the full moon, he was grateful Caroline helped Tyler for his first transformation. She procured wolfsbane for him and stayed with him during the whole process until it wasn't safe for her anymore. When Tyler transformed back into his human form, she hugged him and whispered soothing words knowing he was grieving. Tyler didn't know how he was going to get through this for the rest of his life. Tyler was surprised, when later that day, he was cornered by Jules and two men. She told him of their pack, that Mason was part of theirs and now he was part of their pack. Suspicious, Tyler didn't want to believe her until she revealed the truth behind his uncle's disappearance and Caroline's involvement in it. He left them, feeling betrayed, unsure of what to do.
During those days, on the other hand, Iris was busy outside of Mystic Falls. She arrived in New York the day of the full moon to meet the leader of American wizarding society, President Samuel G. QUAHOG in MACUSA. She had some formalities to complete and the president, who learned of her coming, invited Iris to meet up. He was excited to meet the World Wizarding hero, the Woman Who conquered.
As she had expected, the president offered her a job as an auror or any job she wished. She refused politely, stating she was in hiding, no one knew where she lived, she wanted it to continue that way and she wanted to live peacefully before returning to England. She enjoyed lunch and a cup of tea and asked for the magical alley in New York. She finished her forms and left the MACUSA promising to come back at least once.
She apparated at Downtown Square and pulled on her cloak. She first went to the menagerie to buy food and treats for Galyna, then she went to the apothecary to restock her ingredients and potions. She thankfully had her bag with an undetectable extension charm and made her purchases with ease. She bought quills and parchment, books she didn't find at Flourish and Blotts, some with grey or dark magic. Iris knew Hermione would enjoy learning those. She found a Honeydukes store, and she bought some sweets for her. She looked around and came before the blood-flavoured lollipop, her thoughts went to Caroline and wondered if perhaps, those would be needed in the near future. She grabbed a box and went to pay. She enjoyed the street, as it was a school week, the square was quiet and not too crowded. Lastly, she went to Gringotts to meet with her new account manager, Sharpfang to look over her investments. With the heritage Sirius left her, the Potter and Peverell's vaults and proprieties, she was rich enough for her and at least the five next generations to live comfortably without working.
She usually was not one to lounge around and do nothing, but she was not reckless as before, so she listened to Shacklebolt and her friends and would try to keep a low profile for now, until the remaining death-eaters were caught. She was waiting for Cedric to wake up, so they could settle, and she would start her job as a healer. She had finished her training a few months before leaving and she was eager to start. But for now, she would settle to be philanthropist and be active in charities and associations for the injured and the orphans from the war and try to find a cure for Cedric.
After her musings, she finally left New York and returned to Mystic Falls. She checked her wards and made sure no one bothered her. She locked herself in her laboratory and made potions while working on a cure for Cedric. It was only when Kreacher popped into the room that she allowed herself to rest and eat. She repeated the process for three days but with no results whatsoever. Frustrated, she bit her bottom lip and looked at a specific drawer and wondered. 'What if I use these?' She asked herself. Unconsciously, she went toward it and opened it to look at the three elements. The Deathly Hallows had appeared the next day after the final battle and no matter how many time she tried to get rid of them, they always reappeared on her pillow the next day. With Hermione, she researched every book they could find, and it was Ron, who one day said, "What if the story of the three brothers is true, and now you are the mistress of Death mate?" The girls looked wide-eyed at the ginger who chuckle and joked "What? Can't believe I can say something intelligent for once?". Hermione tried to justify but, Ron stopped her saying he was only making fun of them. Since that day, Iris kept the Hallows locked away to prevent any damage or temptation. No one knew except the three of them.
She shook her head and closed the drawer, locked it with a spell. She would find a cure for Cedric and the healers at St Mungo's were quite talented, between their efforts, she believed they would find a way to wake up Cedric. She felt Galyna rubbed her head against her calf, she smiled at the kneazle, took her in her arms and went to the living room. Galyna reminded her of the need to live in the present and she always comforted Iris when needed.
Iris then passed the next few days leisurely, reading, and petting Galyna. She floo-called Andromeda and Teddy who used his Metamorphmagus skill to copy her features, he was only two and he had started to call her 'Ty 'Ris for Aunty Iris. She promised to spend a few days with them when it would be safe to travel back to England even for a few weeks.
After nearly a week, she finally stopped being a hermit and went to the Grill to have a takeout. She encountered Alaric who was waiting to meet up with his girlfriend. As she walked to find a secluded area to apparate, she turned around a corner to see the young blonde vampire she met a few weeks ago, Caroline, she recalled. She saw several people surrounding the blonde, including a lightly tanned blonde who injected her with a product which she deduced was vervain since Caroline passed out shortly after.
Iris saw one of the men drag Caroline into the trunk of a car and they drove away. She cast a disillusionment charm on herself, thankful Dumbledore took the time to teach it to her so she could make herself nearly invisible and expand her broom she had shrunk. She followed the car quietly and stopped a few yards from their camp. She waited to assess the situation, wondering if she had to go back to her house to grab a few potions with her. When she saw more than five burly men, she made the decision to come back hoping they wouldn't kill Caroline. Iris doubted that since they took the time to drug her and put her in a camping car. She disapparated with a pop so soft nobody noticed.
Caroline awoke in a cage, groggy from the vervain, she regretted waking up when one of the werewolf, named Brady tortured her with a vervain water gun and by shooting at her with small wood shards. She saw Tyler and she begged for help, but he only looked at her unsure of what to do. Never had she been so disappointed in someone, even her own mother. She prayed for someone to help her. About an hour later after she woke up, she heard a soft pop and lifted her head. To her surprise, it was the English beauty she had met, Iris. Confused, she stammered "What…? Iris, how did you…". Iris shushed her and whispered "They will hear you, be quiet. We don't have time; I will get you out." Eyed wide, Caroline saw Iris brandish a long stick out of her sleeve and point it at the lock of the cage. It opened and the raven-haired woman grabbed Caroline to get her out. When they descended from the camping car, Iris looked around to make sure there was no one around. Unfortunately, one of the werewolf came back to retrieve something and was the two women. He whistled to call his pack and soon Iris and Caroline were surrounded by werewolves.
Iris cursed under her breath "Bloody hell, Caroline don't worry. I have a plan. Just stay behind me." The blonde mutely nodded still confused and scared. She had only taken pepper up and blood replenishing potions with her in case Caroline needed one of them, and she knew no potion could be use against her now enemies since they could only be drunk. She tightened her grip on her holly wand and prepare to confront the belligerent werewolves. Her experience of the war and her vast knowledge made sure they were not a match to her. She stunned one by one and fought some with her bare hands before knocking them unconscious. When she made sure no one was left, she decided to obliviate them all of their knowledge of Mystic Falls' inhabitants, then she took Caroline's hand, smiled gently, and said, "It's going to be a little bit uncomfortable.". Then she apparated to her house with the blonde vampire.
Later, Damon and Stefan arrived at the scene only to find unconscious bodies, the werewolves were not dead, not knowing what happened, they tried calling Caroline to no avail. They decided to get back to the boarding house after burning the bodies. Before they could set the camp on fire, Elijah's witch, Jonas appeared looking surprised. He was not expecting the scene and asked what happened. Damon looked suspicious and said, "We don't know, we thought you were the one to do this." The witch only shook his head and said, "Elijah was made known of this situation only a few moments ago." He surveyed the scene and left without a word.
Jonas then made his report back to Elijah, if he was surprised, he didn't show it. "Do you have any idea what happened?". The witch replied "It was not the Salvatore brothers to be sure, they were as confused as me. However, I have sensed a magical trace, but it was faint and unlike everything I have encountered so far."
Elijah went to the window and murmured "Hmm… Perhaps…" When he was alone, he said to no one "Is it possible for wand-wielder to be here?"
To be continued…
