Chapter 3: Journey To Magnolia

LUCY'S POV

I couldn't believe it. I thought it was just some silly dream I'm having. But this is real. It is real. I'm actually going to Fairy Tail! The Fairy Tail! My dream guild! My gosh, this is so exciting! I'm feeling hyped right now! When I was younger, my mother had told me stories of the amazements of guilds, especially Fairy Tail. Going on wild and rustic adventures with friends and comrades or sit at the guild with them, relax, talk about random stuff and have fun with them. Chaos, his flying cat and I were walking to Magnolia. Thank goodness for that, we don't get to ride that hellish nightmare of a train. I prefer strolling around to taking trains any day.

"What's your name?"The cat asked, interrupting my thought.

"Lucy Dragneel. You?"

"The name's Happy. And this is Natsu, Natsu Dragonia" Happy said as he points at Natsu. "He doesn't talk much"

"I can...see that"

Happy leads the way, munching on a fish as he and I were having small talks while Natsu strolls behind us. I would take glances of his appearance. He has a lean muscular build, black eyes, has sharp canines like me and salmon colored hair which he somehow makes it look good. His outfits consist of an sleeveless, blue trimmed, black vest which is zipped, a leather brown belt with a pouch, black pants with blue markings, black boots and black long armbands which leaves his black Fairy Tail mark located on his right shoulder, as well as both shoulders exposed. Around his neck was a scaly white scarf.

I've heard a lot about Natsu during my travels. The son of Acnologia who is known as the black dragon of the apocalypse, the king of the dragons, and a good friend of my foster father, Igneel. Acnologia and Igneel have known each other for centuries. From what Igneel had told me, Acnologia was a ruthless, bloodthirsty, and violentdragon that kills anyone who gets in his way, that includes dragons, ignoring the fact that many were his comrades. He hates humans and loves to face an opponent strong enough to give him a real challenge.

While it is currently unknown exactly which element Acnologia employs in his casting of dragon magic to many people, Igneel told me that it's Chaos magic, very rare and very powerful. He also told me that Acnologia can reap the very souls of dragons, leaving them in a half dead state. He's able to consume any type ofmagic element or evil aura to replenish himself.

The strangest thing was that the rumors said that Natsu Chaos Dragonia was a repulsive, heartless person that was born with way too much power. As far as I could see, Natsu wasn't half bad. Sure, he has this scowl on his face and his body language screams people issues and promises death to anyone who touches him, but I don't feel the same hatred in Natsu. I know he cares for Happy so I know he's nothing like his father that I've heard about from Igneel. But the born with way too much power part, that I could agree with. I could sense the magical energy radiating off him, he probably has even more than me.

"So your friend Natsu is a dragon slayer, right?" I asked.

"Yeah. He's the chaos dragon slayer!" Happy said.

"Ah, that explains why Bora called him the chaos dragon" I then looked at Happy. "You don't seem to a normal cat, aren't you?" I know Happy is an exceed. I have my fair share of run ins with them.

"Aye! I'm an exceed and a Fairy Tail wizard like Natsu! I use Aerial Magic which gives me power of flight!" I smiled at the blue cat as he flies around me. We walked for silence for a bit.

"Well, what do you eat, Natsu?" I questioned Natsu. He rolled his eyes and scoffed, ignoring me.

"You're funny Lucy. It's food, like every other normal human being" Happy snickered.

I sigh and corrected myself. "I mean for a magic boost? Dragon slayers consume their respective element, with the exception of that which they have created, to replenish their energy, right? Just like Salamander who eats fire for a power boost"

"I consume Etherion" Natsu mumbled, just loud enough for me to hear. I spun my head around to face him, surprised that he answered my question. This basically confirms he eats Etherion like Acnologia.

"Cool! So you never really run out of energy?" I said. He didn't reply my question again.

"It depends, some places lack enough Etherion for Natsu to consume without accidentally killing the source" Happy explained. "And he still have to be careful, so that the other wizards around him can refill their energy"

"Thank you for the information Happy" I smiled. "How did you meet this grumpy dragon boy in the first place?"

Natsu grunts in annoyance but said nothing while Happy snickered. "Natsu found me in the forest and we became friends. What about you, Lucy? What do you use to do before you met us?" I froze in my tracks, recalling my dark past. "Crap!" I clench my fist hard trying to grasp on the good memories I've made. "Lucy, are you okay?"

Happy seemed concerned and I look behind him to see Natsu looking at me, the hint of curiosity in his eyes. I relaxed and continued walking. "I-I'm fine Happy. Don't worry about it" they don't look convinced, so I continued. "I-I'm a traveler-"

Our conversation was interrupted by a group of bandits jumping out of the bushes. They snickered among themselves as if they've found a treasure or something. I sigh to myself, these people did not know who they have decided to ambush, at least I don't have to continue that awkward conversation. I look at Natsu who looked very annoyed.

"Finally boys! We have been waiting for someone to come and here they are!" Yelled a man whom I assume is their leader. "My, my, we have been blessed with a hot baby here. What a lucky day for us" I flinched slightly seeing the familiar lust look in his eyes. That look sent a wave of anger through my body. "Men! Charge at them!" The leader yelled crazily.

Natsu charges head first and smashed his fist into the first man's face. I gave a back elbow to another man who tried to sneak up on me. Natsu and I ran towards the group, beating them down to the ground. Happy was flying around the bandits whacking the top of their heads with a stick. We continued kicking their butts. The bandits thought they had figured out how we fought and tried to charge us in large groups, which is a big mistake on their part. Natsu stood still, waiting. I looked at him raising an eyebrow, wondering what's he planning. "Ah! I see he's about use magic"

The leader's eyes widen in shock as he realized what Natsu was about to do. "Stop! Stop! Get away from them! Now!" He tried to warn his men but they were far too loud at the moment to even hear their leader. Natsu sucked in a huge amount of air, his cheeks puffed out and all in one breath, he released it.

"Chaos dragon roar!" He lets out a roar of mesmerizing mix of black and dark blue flames. The bandits stopped dead in the their tracks and screamed as the flames of chaos engulfed them and they just barely looked like human beings when the fire diminished.

"Nice!" I exclaim, sending a beaming smile towards Natsu. "What a knock out! That was a great roar, Natsu!" Natsu looked quite shocked and confused before covering it up with his usual scowl.

"M-M-Monster, you're a monster!" The leader yelled in horror, looking unharmed. He must have dodge Natsu's breath attack. He quickly gets, stumbling along the way and begins to run.

"You're not getting away! Lucy kick!" I dashed towards him and gave my usual kick to his neck, knocking him out cold. I huff in pride seeing my handy work.

"Not bad. It seems I underestimated you, Blondie" Natsu said.

A tick appeared on my forehead. "Well excuse me Mr grumpy. My name is Lucy, not Blondie" I complained.

"Wow! Natsu called you Blondie!" Happy exclaimed as he points at me.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" I asked, turning to Happy.

"You must be special. Natsu usually calls girls, woman" Happy explained.

"Happy" Natsu warned coldly.

"Oops! Too much, hehe" Happy snickered before flying in front of us.

We continued our journey and after a long while, we finally reached Magnolia. I was amazed at how big and beautiful the town was. So rich with energy and life. "Lucy, do you see that big building near the ocean?" Happy asked me and I saw the building he was talking about.

"Yeah..." I replied.

"That's Fairy Tail" he grinned.

I squealed a little bit. My dream of joining Fairy Tail was almost coming true. "So, this is where Fairy Tail is. Why haven't I been here?" I thought. I noticed Natsu had wandered off ahead of us without caring that he left us behind. "Hey! Wait up Natsu! Natsu!" I complained and then ran after him with Happy. He took no notice of me but I didn't care. I was too excited. "I can't believe I'm going to Fairy Tail!"
