From the following morning onwards, everyone's attention was drawn to Remus, as the full moon was on the day after Harry's birthday.
After dinner, their friends accompanied Remus, Sirius and Harry outside, before Dorea ushered them back inside at the first sight of dawn. Harry and Sirius transformed into their canine forms and engrossed themselves in a dog fight, while Remus waited for the full moon to rise.
Finally, the transformation set in, and Harry and Sirius observed their friend in concern, trying to assess if the altered Wolfsbane potion had possibly lost its former effect.
To their surprise, the transformed werewolf lay down on the ground and rubbed his belly on the ground, just like the two of them liked to do in their canine forms.
=Moony,= Sirius tentatively called out to their friend. =Is everything okay?=
Moony slowly raised his head staring at the two dogs with obviously alert eyes. =Just wonderful. I kept my mind, and the transformation did not hurt at all. Let's play!=
Together, they roamed the huge park of the manor and even took a swim in the lake, before all three of them lay down on the ground to relax, where they finally drifted off to sleep.
Harry's mind only returned to awareness, when Remus woke him and Sirius up. "Get up, layabouts. I'm hungry, and I want breakfast."
"Moony, are you all right?" Sirius asked, sleepily.
"I've never been better before on the day after the full moon," Remus replied, grinning broadly in obvious happiness. "I hope Hermione and Severus are already up and about, as I need to thank them above anything."

Hermione, Severus and Damocles as well as Dorea and Hector were over the moon with joy upon hearing that their enhanced Wolfsbane potion managed to soothe the pain of the transformation and got rid of the previously painful aftereffects. Everyone felt extremely happy for the always friendly werewolf, but Hermione, Severus and Damocles felt slightly annoyed by the fact that Dorea and Hector still insisted on keeping their assistance in the research a secret.
"We will always assist you, but no one must know about it. If you want to work as potioneers in the future, your reputation is what matters, not ours," Dorea and Hector told them, whenever Hermione asked them to reveal themselves, at least to Remus.
"I know that Potions masters have been trying to find a cure for lycanthropy, but if anyone will be able to invent a cure, it'll be the three of you," a teary-eyed Remus told them after pulling each of them into a bear's hug.
Nevertheless, it took two more years, before they presented Remus with a new version of the Wolfsbane a few days after Harry's fifteenth birthday.

The day turned out to be extremely exciting, as their Hogwarts letters arrived, and Amelia, Hermione and Severus found prefect badges in their envelopes. Harry was informed that Professor McGonagall had made him Quidditch captain, and Edgar had been chosen as head boy.
"Congratulations Edgar," Petunia gushed and leaned over to gently kiss his cheek, causing the others to stare at the two seventeen-year-olds with a combination of surprise and amusement.
While they had been aware that Edgar and Petunia had met during the Hogsmeade visits and had been spending one or the other afternoon together, since they had both come to the manor on time for Harry's birthday, none of them but probably Luna had realised just how close they were.
"Congrats, Meli." Sirius grinned, broadly. "Ehh, seeing that your brother, our head boy, seems to have got himself a girlfriend, I just have to ask you now. "Will you do me the honour to become my girlfriend?"
"That took you a long time, Padfoot," Harry quipped, causing the other boy to glare at him.
Amelia chuckled. "Thank you, Sirius, and yes, I will… if you behave yourself."
Sirius theatrically placed his right hand onto his chest. "Oh, I feel hurt. Don't I always behave?"
Harry grinned. "Amelia, he really behaves well for your sake. You have no idea how he was in our previous time."
"Ah, shut up, you," Sirius all but growled and transformed into his canine form to chase Harry all over the room.
"Kids," Petunia commented, smirking.
"Congrats, Tuney, by the way," Lily spoke up, smiling.
"I'm going to tell McGonagall that I don't have time to be a prefect," Hermione suddenly spoke up, sounding disappointed.
"Me too," Severus added, gently squeezing her hand. "We really don't have time for anything, before we manage to succeed inventing our wolvescure."
"Mione, Sev," Lily spoke up in a soft voice, "why don't you wait a day? The full moon is tonight, and maybe your newest invention is going to work. You can still refuse the positions if the potion doesn't work."
Hermione and Severus exchanged a glance, before they shook their heads.
"No," Severus was the first to speak. "Even if the potion was a success, which I don't believe, we need additional time to study for the mastery, now that we've both taken our Potions NEWT."
"Lily and James," Hermione addressed her friends, smiling, "may I suggest the two of you to Professor McGonagall instead?"
"I'd like that." Lily smiled.
"Me too." James grinned. "Especially thinking of all the broom cupboards."
"Well, I'll make sure to never pair the two of you together for your rounds," Edgar spoke up, grinning in obvious amusement.
"Provided that McGonagall approves of James at all," Sirius quipped. "I think Moony would make a brilliant prefect."
Remus let out a snort. "As long as I have my furry problem, I'm not prefect material."
"You won't be a werewolf forever," Luna said, giving him a dreamy look. "I look forward to you inviting me to become your girlfriend very soon."
"Pay attention with whom you pair Meli, by the way, Edgar." Sirius cast the older boy a challenging look. "I won't have her end up in a broom cupboard with anyone but me."
Amelia rolled her eyes in apparent exasperation. "Sirius…"
Petunia cleared her throat. "I have good news as well, and I want to thank Edgar, Harry, Sirius and everyone else for your help and encouragement. I've been accepted to the O'Leary Arts College in Dublin, where I'm going to study for a year."
"And afterwards, Petunia plans to open her own shop in Hogsmeade. We'll see where we can find something appropriate."
Among the cheers coming from everyone, Petunia asked, "Are you not going to tell them about your own plan?"
Edgar chuckled. "Well, provided that we can find a shop that's big enough, I want to open a second-hand bookstore, where students can buy and sell their school books or any other kind of book, too, of course."
"What a brilliant idea," Hermione gushed. "I can't wait for your shop to open."
'Petunia looks so happy,' Harry thought to Ginny in amazement. 'I've never seen her so happy before. Thank Merlin I talked to her and asked her to get to know our world, when I did.'
'Well done,' Ginny replied, smiling at him.

In the evening, it was raining cats and dogs, and Remus tried to send Harry and Sirius back into the house; however, the two canines insisted on staying outside with him. Remus sat under a huge oak tree, framed by the two dogs, who were cuddling into his sides.
Suddenly, Sirius stretched his limbs. =Moony, when is the full moon going to rise?=
"Don't bark at me. I can't understand you in my human form," Remus replied, gently caressing the canine's ears.
