Hinny: 6th year for Harry, 5th for Ginny

Quidditch practice had not long ended and seeking a distraction from how unsmoothly it had gone Ginny was currently snogging the daylights out of her boyfriend Dean Thomas. Ginny and Dean didn't always see eye to eye, in fact about half of their time together was spent arguing but he was much better than her last boyfriend - Micheal Corner - and when they got on she did like his company, it also helped that he was a good kisser.

The kissing took her mind off of things and would have continued had it not been for a loud shout of "OI" interrupting them.

Ginny and Dean sprang apart to see that none other than Ron and Harry had walked in on them. Ginny fought off a flush, embarrassed at being caught snogging by her brother. She painted a look of casualness on her face as she asked "what?"

"I don't want to find my own sister snogging in public!" Ron proclaimed angrily Ginny crossed her arms across her chest, her own temper flaring up at his reaction. Who was he to get angry at her for kissing her own boyfriend?

"This was a deserted corridor until you came barging in!" She roared back. She noticed Dean began to shuffle on his feet beside her, clearly embarrassed. Flicking her eyes in his direction she caught Dean give Harry a shifty grin that he did not return.

Guilt swirled in her stomach for a moment at the look Harry gave Dean. She would never feel guilty for kissing her own boyfriend in 'public' as Ron had put it but for a moment she felt guilty that she was currently wishing it had been Harry she was kissing. She shook her head slightly. She thought that she was over this, she would get over it - she was with Dean now.

"Er…cmon Ginny" Dean said awkwardly as the two siblings glared at each other "let's go back to the common room…"

"You go!" Ginny said furiously, flaring her nostrils "I want to have a word with my dear brother."

Dean left, looking glad to be shot of the scene and even though Ginny told him to go she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed he had not tried harder to stay and help defend her.

"Right" she began directing her anger back at Ron, she tossed her red hair from her face as she began to chastise him "let's get this straight once and for all. It is none of your business who I go out with or what I do with them!"

"Oh yes it is!" Ron threw back "D'you think I want people saying my sister's a-"

"A what?" Shouted Ginny drawing her wand and pointing it at Ron "A what exactly?"

"He doesn't mean anything Ginny -" Harry said and Ginny felt furious for a moment at him for covering for Ron. Her brother had been about to say something horrible and she was not going to let him try to shame her when she had done nothing wrong.

She whipped round, her angry gaze landing on Harry "oh yes he does! Just because he's never snogged anyone in his life, just because the best kiss he's ever had is from out auntie Muriel -"

"Shut your mouth," Ron said, tuning shades of red as vibrant as his hair.

Ginny went on, calling Ron pathetic for wanting Fleur to kiss his cheek and telling him he wouldn't mind so much that everyone else does it if he got some snogging done himself. Harry watched the scene with growing despair wondering how to break the two apart. Ron pulled out his wand as well and Harry flung himself between the pair as they continued to argue. Ginny tried to push Harry out of the way and he chastised himself for the butterflies that danced in his stomach at her touch. Ron threw a spell at Ginny as she continued to throw insults at him and Harry pushed Ron up against the wall to prevent him from throwing another. "Don't be stupid" he said while Ron tried to escape the hold. Then he mentally shouted the same thing at himself as his brain slyly thought pushing Ginny against the wall might have been more fun.

Ginny began to storm off, shouting as she did so about Hermione kissing Victor Krum and Harry Cho Chang. Harry released Ron watching her go with a twisted feeling in his gut. He could barely listen to what Ron was saying as his mind replayed the kiss between Ginny and Dean and thought about how much he would like to punch Dean. He tried to rationalise these thoughts but he felt like he had been struck by lightning and the thoughts disoriented him so much. "I don't like Ginny like that" he told himself firmly "it's just because she's Ron's sister" but with a sinking realisation Harry realised that wasn't the reason at all. Harry realised he was wrought with jealousy - he liked Ginny Weasley - he liked her a lot. More than he had liked Cho, the realisation was slightly terrifying to him. Later when Ron recounted the story to Hermione the girl watched Harry curiously throughout, beginning to wonder if her suspicion that he liked Ginny back was right.

Scorily: Scorpius' 6th year, Lily's 5th

Scorpius was walking out of the great hall with Albus, the pair of them on their way to charms when he noticed Lily walking ahead. He was about to jog to catch up with her when Lorcan Scamander said something to her in a low voice and Lily did the last thing he expected her to do. Lily reached up on her tiptoes and threw her arms around Lorcan's neck dragging his neck down before she pressed her lips to his in a searing kiss. The kiss was brief but passionate and was revealed to be a goodbye kiss as Lorcan had to hurry off in another direction.

Scorpius found himself feeling disoriented all of a sudden, he had a sudden desire to kick his leg out so Lorcan would fall as the boy rushed past him. He felt sick, blinded with an intense rage for Lorcan that flared itself up suddenly. The feeling confused him, it was only a kiss after all why should he feel so angered by it? "It's because she's Al's little sister" he convinced himself.

He was brought out of his reverie by the sound of Lily's voice "oh hey guys" she said "what have you got? Ive got transfiguration if you're heading that way."

"Charms sorry Lils different direction" Albus replied nonchalantly.

"Aw alright" Lily said, "see you later then Al - Scor" she added as she walked off.

Scorpius watched the interaction in silence, confused about it. Why wasn't Albus quizzing her on why she was snogging Lorcan Scamander in the hallway? Had he not seen it?

"What's up with you?" Al asked, concerned by his friend's sudden silence.

"What?" Scorpius said, coming out of his daze "err…nothing."

They walked to charms with not another word said about it. They had charms with the Gryffindors and sat with Rose who also noticed Scorpius being uncharacteristically quiet. She was about to comment on it when Scorpius turned to her and blurted out "Did you know Lily is dating Lorcan Scamander?"

Rose blinked in surprise "yeah they started dating last month, Valentines day Hogsmeade trip." She replied, studying his reaction.

Albus looked up "Ohhh did you see them kiss this morning? I didn't realise you didn't know mate." He said casually.

"Are you not - annoyed?" Scorpius asked Albus in slight shock.

"What cause she kisses her boyfriend?" Al said laughing "I've not really got a leg to stand on to be honest the way I was always snogging Cassie last year when we were together. I know she's my little sister but Lorcan's a friend and Lily's her own person I trust them both. If he hurts her me and James will kill him but I don't really have any right to tell her she can't be dating people when I dated people at her age."

Scorpius nodded slightly, shaking his head as if to clear it "yeah" he said then noticing how strange he was acting he elbowed Albus and teased him "just didn't know you were so mature is all Al."

Albus laughed again "I wasn't when she dated McLaggen in fourth year remember? But mum gave me a right telling off and told me about a fight her and Uncle Ron once had. Sorted me right out that did."

The lesson progressed and the topic moved on but Scorpius' thoughts remained on the situation. He began to realise that the reason he had reacted so badly was because he liked Lily. He couldn't believe how he hadn't realised it sooner, she made him happy just by her presence, he sought her out to talk to her in group settings, he was mesmerised by the way her hair flicked in the light. He didn't know what to do with this realisation - he liked his best friend's sister, way more than he had ever liked his past crushes or girlfriends. He tried to convince himself it wasn't true - that he had only wanted to punch Lorcan's face in because he was kissing Albus' sister but Al's reaction showed him otherwise. Al didn't care - so neither should he - yet here he was. He realised he did care, more than he dared to admit aloud.

Beside him Rose was coming to her own realisation. She had just pieced together that Scorpius liked Lily. Her brain was running overtime trying to deal with this situation. Did she tell Lily? No she couldn't, Lily had moved on. But then Lily had only moved on because Rose had suggested it. Oh damn it Rose thought - her own love life was complicated enough without throwing in trying to sort out Scorpius and Lily's! She hoped they'd figure it out by themselves soon.
