Chapter 11 Black and White:Voyage Of Despair Part 2
It was a new morning on the Jacklope as the ship sailed through the sea. Waves gentle splashed agains the side of the ships hulls. The water seemed to be clamer than before when they began their voyage.
Everyone was already stirringawake right now getting ready to spend another day on their little cruise. Their isn't nothing much to do except stare at the open sea and maybe explore the ship.
Blake slowly got up from her cot as she stretched her shoulders and heard a pop it seems. Then she rubbed her eyes as she groggly looked to her left. Then her eyes widden a little seeing something that was a little strange.
Onxyia had her arm wrapped around Aruna waist as the two slept their. The cat faunus found it a little strange but the wolf faunus was known to be a cuddler it seems.
She laughed as she noticed Neo and Bombay missing from their beds. They must be already down below getting breakfast. She threw her sheets off and slowly made her way down the wooden ladder.
As she did she made sure not to wake the two, because it would be a little entertaining to see the two reaction. She carefully climb down the ladder and soon made it to the wooden floor of their room.
"Hmm your up finally, how'd you sleep dear?"Sienna asked as she sat on the couch drinking a cup of tea it seems.
Blake stretched her back a little before answering her"Alright though the beds could be less rough. Took me a bit to fall asleep but i'll manage"blake said as she wondered how they were going to get breakfast.
But then she sniffed the air as the smell of eggs, oatmeal, bacon and sausage links filed the air. She looked around then noticed a small cart with a few plates on it seems.
Their was a large silver container on it along with silverware, plates, bowls. Along with some fruit it seems ranging from apples, oranges, banana,strawberrys. Blake walked over as she fixed herself up a plate for breakfast.
She grabbed some strawberries, eggs and a small bottle of water from the cart. Then she sat down near the small table with Sienna. Though she noticed that everyone else was gone already it seems.
"Hey wheres everyone else?"blake questioned wondering were they went.
Sienna took a sip of her tea before setting it down to talk to her.
"They finished breakfast not that long ago. Colt and Verde went to explore the ship since we didn't have a chance yesterday. "Sienna replied
"What about Neo,Yahto and Bombay? Where are they"blake added
"Probbaly exploring the ship just like them or taking in the view. "Sienna replied
Though blake wondered what time it was right now because as she ate some of the eggs. They felt a little cold to her suggesitng they've been out for a while. But she didn't mind because it was better than nothing.
As she took a bite of her eggs she looked at a nearby scroll on the table. She grabbed it and turned it on to see the time. Then she looked at the clock on the scroll and it read eleven o'clock am.
This surrpsied her that they slept in that long. Although it did take them a while to get ready for bed. Last night they had to comfort Bombay while she puked her guts out all over the place.
"It's almost the afternoon, why'd you let us sleep in?"blake questioned confused
"We didn't want to wake you three because you seemed pretty tired from last night. "Sienna replied as she glanced up toward the cots.
"Plus those two seemed pretty comfy up their"sienna added with a smirk.
"You know Onxyia she seems to be the type of person who'll cuddle you"blake replied finding it a little amusing.
"Though what are you going to do dear, you can't just keep exploring the ship. Meet anyone interesting here"sienna asked
Their was that Eliza Cotten girl who seemed to be a huntresses on the ship. She seemed nice but she did ask alot of questions. She might be paranoid because the women may be a spy or criminal in disguises.
They don't extactly have the best experience right now with people who act too nice.
"One a women named Eliza Cotten"blake replied
"Really whats she like?"sienna asked as she looked at her niece.
"Oh shes nice apparently shes a huntress, her and a man named mordercai help protect the ship on its voyages it seems"blake replied
"That nice but she probably not as good as you kids"sienna replied complimenting blake it seems.
Before they continued their conversation a audible scream could be heard above them. Then a small thud could be heard. The two looked at each other as they waited for those two to wake up.
"What the heck cousin?!"Aruna shouted from above
"what …I..I…didn't do it"onxyia replied it seems trying to save herself from embarrassment.
"Uh huh you hugged me like a stuffed animal. Seriously girl you into cuddling or something"aruna said as they thought the two were alone.
Soon enough the two made their way down separately down the ladder. As the two came down in their pajamas they both turned to be met by Blake and Sienna staring at the two smiling.
Both their faces simultaneously became bright red as they turned away from each other. Onxyai ears flopped over along with her tail sagging down. While aruna just crossed her arms under her bust as her tail sagg.
"Hmm you two are finally awake, enjoy yourselves?"Sienna teased
"I-I don't wanna talk about it"aruna said embarrassed as she went into the bathroom to change. Onxyia just stared at the two before groaning as she covered her face. Blake laughed a little at the girl before continuing to eat breakfast.
Soon enough after a bit of teasing and breakfast. They all got changed into their usually attire. Then they made their way out of their room to see where everyone went. Along with killing more time today.
In the bridge control room of the ship the captain was hard at work manning and steering the ship through the water. His crew was diligently working hard making sure everything was in order.
The bridge was a typically bridge you see on a ferry or ship. It had the steering wheel that controlled the ship throught the waters. Along with some control panels and consoles in the room. They seem to be used to operate the ships other functions from the looks of it.
As they worked Buckley was steering the ship's wheel slowly as he kept his eyes on the waters. They stayed their course for a bit until a familiar huntresses he knew came up to greet him.
"Evening captain hows the waters today?"eliza questioned as she stood next to him.
Buckley had his hands on the wheel steering it while he talked to her.
"Aye dear their good today, seems we'll be having steady waters it seems. Though be prepared lter we'll probably be sailing through grimm reef"buckley replied but seemed to not want to tell her that part.
The huntress raised an eyebrow at the sea dog"captain you know no ships have returned from that reef. If we keep this course it could mean the ship could come under attack"eliza warned
The sea captain sighed heavily"I know dear but those dam snobs down below told me to take another route. "Buckley replied
Elzia scoffed at this"seriously those idiots need to understand that it may be another day until we reach Mistral. Whats the problem with that?"Eliza questioned.
"In their words not mine. They want to drop off these beast on the ship to their zoo. Then head immediately to mistral to clean and check themselves for fleas"the sea captain replied
"Seriously fricking bigots, I swear they get worse every year. "Eliza said as she leaned against a wall as she crossed her arms under her bust.
This made buckley smiled a little as he let out a hearty chuckle at this.
"What can you do, you'll always be dealing with these type of people in this line of work"buckley replied
"You aint wrong cap, though you really need to ban modercai from the bar"Eliza added with concern.
The captain only sighed at this as he focused on steering the ship.
"I know dear, but that man is grieving. I've already talked to him but he refuses to listen to me. "Buckley replied
The huntress only seemed a little frustrated by this as she rubbed her eyes.
"Look I know but the guy needs to lay off on the booze right now. If were going through that reef he needs to be sober"eliza said as she got up to leave the ship captain to his steering.
But before she left she put a hand on the door frame turning around to face him. He glanced over his shoulder at the girl.
"I understand your trying to look out for whats best for him. But think about it alright"eliza said
"That I shall dear, go mingle with the passengers of the ship. "Buckley replied as Eliza went to do that. While he kept his hands on the ship focusing on steering.
Near the side of the ship Yahto, Bombay and Neo were walking around as they explored the ship. They seemed a little board because what else where they going to do here. They can't exactly go below deck.
Apparently its off limits to the passenger, only the crew can go down their.
"Ughh i'm going to die of boredom on this stinking ship"bombay groaned annoyed.
"Come on bombay, were on a ship that doesn't have much to do it seems. Though apparently their is a lounge here."yahto replied
"Hmm yeah but remember someone said early that it rented for a private event"bombay said in air quotes.
"You mean how we tried to go up their early and that rich jerk told us where not allowed up their"yahto replied
Bombay snapped her fingers because he was right. Early they tired to go up their but some rich snob or butler maybe stopped them. He said how this area is off limits to them because their with an it.
By it they meant bombay because she was a faunus. Which was pretty harsh, they don't exactly. control or own the ship. But they seem to be from some big company rented the lounge or something.
Soon they got close to the bow of the ship as neo rushed over the the end of it. The girl seemed excited because she propped herself up leaning over the ledge a little.
As she did she put her arms up in the air pretending she was flying or something.
"Man this girl has alot of energy now it seems"bombay pointed out.
"Eh Neo's always been like that sometimes. Usually when she experience something new she wants to experience everything"yahto replied
"Really from her background I thought she probably be on a boat at some point"bombay added
"Nope her dad could't really go on boats because you know"yahto added and Bombay understood what she meant by that.
Because Roman was practically wanted by the police at the time. Though lately his reputation as a no good crook seemed to have gone down a little. On the news some soldiers who are from a mercnary group called the desparados said something.
They were seen helping the city it seems and they asked them who hired them. The group told them the answer was that roman torchwich called them.
Which is a risky move in her opinion to tell the public who hired them. That puts a target on his kids back pretty much. Those four that planned the attack on the academy could come after them.
Maybe thats why Neo big sister asked yahto to protect her sister. Incase they came after her, though she said she had a brother too. Wonder where he is right now.
The two walked over to join neo as the girl was leaning on the edge of the railing to the ship. But as she leaned forward a little bit more she started to fall over. Soon enough she went over the edge and two went wide eyed.
They rushed over to grab the mute and just in time by her ankle. Though the mute hung upside down over the ship. She had a scared look on her face as she looked up at the two.
"Don't worry we…got you"yahto said as she held onto neo ankle tight.
Neo winced a little because it did hurt a little as he held onto her ankle. It wasn't exactly pelsant and the two tried to pull her up. Bombay tried to pull the girl up by her other ankle.
"How…are…you…so.."bombay begun as she glnaced down at Neo. She was glaring at her that she better not finisht hat sentence. Bombay laughed nervously as she decided it wasn't the best idea to finish that sentence.
They pulled her up slightly but soon bombay grip was loosening. She didn't exactly have the best strength persay. Yahto seemed to be tone but he struggled to lift her up.
Soon a few other passenger came over to see what was going one exactly.
"Hey kid what are you two doing"a male passenger asked walking over. Along with a female passenger by his side.
"Hmm yes what are–"she begun but looked over the edge to see them trying to pull up Neo.
The girl waved to the two as their eyes shot wide the man with her decided to try and help pull her up.
"Oh remnant here let me help"he exclaimed as he grabbed neo leg and began to pull her upwards.
All three of them began to put their strength into pulling the girl up. As they did soon enough they managed to pull the short mute up. Bombay fell on her back breathing because that was exhausting.
"Ok…next time….don't do that"bombay said breathing in between breaths.
Then Neo gave a thumbs up as the two passenger who helped them pull the girl up looked at the group. Yahto looked up at their helpers on making sure Neo wasn't swimming with the fishes
The man seemed to be in his early forties he had a slight musuclar build. He had bright short blonde hair with light brown skin was lgihtish tan it seems. He currently wore a dress shirt that was grey underneath a purple dress jacket. He wore brown dress pants with black simple dress shoes. But on his head was a pair of goat horns.
While the women next to him seemed to be in her late had an hourglass figure to her, along with her skin being pale it seems. She had bright red hair that made her stand out along with her bright yellow eyes. She wore a light green dress that reached to her ankles that layed ont he floor. Though underneath she appears to wear green colored stocking with some heels that are black in color. But she sat in a wheelchair as her dress draped in the wind.
"Are you alright miss?"the man spoke with a soft voice.
Neo shook her head to the man quickly. This made the faunus man smile a little happy she was alright.
"Splendid it be rather chaotic if we lost a passenger today"he replied
"Yes, you should be careful next time. Try to enjoy the view from behind the railing"The women added
"We will sir and madam thank you for the help"yahto thanked
"It was no problem, young man. It was my pleasure"the goat faunus replied
The women shook her head at the man smiling"come now dear don't be modest. You did help save a girls life. "The women said as she layed on hands on her lap
"Sorry dear, I don't like to gloat"he replied to the women who smiled.
The two seemed to be from an upper class it seems, though surprising to see someone that is a faunus from one. Those are pretty rare nowadays now. Though they might as well get the names of the their saviors
"Umm excuse me you two"Bombay spoke up to get their attention.
The goat fauna looked at the cat faunus wondering what she wanted.
"Were wondering what your names our, it'd be rude not to thank someone who helped us name"bombay asked
"Oh your right, i'm Ruffus Ober."the goat faunus bowed as he introduced himself as Ruffus.
The women moved her hands on her wheel as she got in front of them.
"I'm Chloe Ober his wife"the women introduced herself.
The three introduced themselves to the two as they talked for a bit.
"It's nice to meet you two"yahto replied
"Pleasures all mine young man, say not to be rude but you all seem rather young to be traveling"Ruffus replied
"Oh your not being rude sir, were traveling with some people in our group to menagerie"bombay replied
"Hmm thats interesting were on our way to Argus in mistral"Chloe replied as she rubbed her hands a little.
Neo took her scroll out as she began to type away at it. Ruffus looked at her what she was doing and was a little curious. But he waited for her to finish,once she was done she showed the two it.
"Why are you heading to argus?"Neo text read.
"Ah that my friend is um a private matter. Something that is a sensitive topic right now"Ruffus replied as Chloe looked down a little.
Though they could guess what the two were going. Probably to argus to visit someone for prosthetics. Though this reminded a certain mute about a pair of sisters father who specialized in prosthetics.
She then tapped yahto on the shoulder and he turned to her. He looked at her wondering what she wanted, then she signed to him.
"Their probably getting prosthetics for her legs, from the looks of it she looks paralysed from the waist done"neo signed.
"Hmm alright that makes sense lets not be rude and ask them about it"yahto signed back.
"Are you two playing charades?"Chloe asked smiling a little as she leaned back into her chair.
"No its ASL its used to communicate for people who are deaf or can't speak"yahto replied
"Umm despite that what happened to you ma'am if you don't mind me asking"bombay added in which shocked the women it seems a little.
Chloe looked down at her legs sighing it seems as she caressed her legs. But to her she felt nothing their even.
"I had an accidnet not too long ago, we were visiting a small village in Vale. Were originally from Atlas, and some of ruffus family lived their. Though about a few months ago we visited the place when grimm attack"chloe begun as she had a sadden expression on her face.
Ruffus rested his hand on her shoulder to console her it grabbed it smiling at him then cotninued.
"But when the attack happened it a beam fell down and smashed my spinel cord pretty bad. I can't really feel anything their now,along with that my nerves are pretty damaged"chloe added sadly.
"That terrible…i'm sorry to hear that"bombay replied
"Thank you dear, buts it quite alright"Chloe replied
"Though Argus is pretty far why not vale"yahto added
"Well were heading their to see about getting prosthetics maybe. You see my wife has family their that could help us"ruffus replied
"But we also hope to find one that isn't to expensive. Most of the ones around either don't put enough care into their work or charge high prices"chloe added
"Their also finding a decent metal smith in the area, but we don't know of any their"ruffus replied
Could these two maybe not be rich, maybe they do come from a decent well off family. But from ruffus appearance maybe chloe family shunned her with a limited lien amount she can use. Which sounds exactly like a typically upper class family.
Neo then tapped to yahto and signed to him again. As she did he lifted an eyebrow as he recalled someone they knew from argus.
"You know we know a weaponsmith in Argus who specilzies in prosthetics actually. Maybe if you drop one of our friends names he'll take pity on you"yatho said which confused Bombay. But then it hit her because of an opponent she faced in the doubles match.
"Oh you mean those two father, I didn't know he did prosthetics"bomby asked
"Apprently he does from what Neo said, maybe we could ask Blake and Onxyia to put a good word in for these two"yahto replied
The couple looked at the group of kids wondering what their angle was exactly. They seemed to hesitate trusting these children it seems.
"Umm you don't need to do that young man"ruffus said
"Nonsense you helped save our friend, might as well repay a debt. You can follow us and we can ask them"bombay replied
Ruffus was about to say something but chloe placed a hand on her husbands thigh. He looked down at her and she gently nodded his head at her. Ruffus seemed to be thinking for thinking for a moment before answering.
"That would be very generous of you, if theirs anything you need let me know"Ruffus replied
The three decided tot ry and find their other friends. They might not be able to do it but it was worth a shot. But first they needed to find their other friends wherever they are.
Near an upper level of a ship Blake and the other three were looking around the ship. They had access to other parts of the ship and decided to explore the upper deck. But they did stay in a decent suite that had enough room for all of them it seems.
But apparently above them their was another floor above them that had an executive suites. Though their was also a lounge up their as well. It was getting close to the even it seems because it was five pm right now.
The group turned down a hallway that was decorated in red and gold wallpaper from the looks of it. Along with their being air conditioning for the passenger here. Because the hall felt cool compared to the humid air outside.
"Dang this is pretty fancy for a ferry ship"aruna said amazed a little.
"Well the captain apparently get rich customers sometimes. Because he can get your somewhere in half the time it takes. "Sienna replied to her daughter
"Really how so you'd have to know the sea pretty well to do that"blake added
"Hmm well from what I heard the man used to be a fisherman and huntsman before he started a ferry. "Sienna replied
That would make sense it seems the man seems to be wise and has vast knowledge about certain only met him once but he would fit the description of a huntsman. He did have a huntresses and huntsman on his ship.
Soon enough the group turned another corner and found a set of stairs that led upstairs. They heard voice upstairs but Sienna stopped for a moment leaning against the wall.
"Are you alright?"blake questioned worried a little.
"Hmm its probably just a cramp, though surrpsied your sibling hasn't decided to come yet"sienna replied
"Ughh not my fault their playing the long game. Though wanna go find dad to see if your alright just incase"Aruna asked concerned.
The bengel faunus thought for a moment before looking at her daughter.
"Let do that, you two sure you can hold the fort down here while we look for verde"sienna replied
"We can, but we'll check up here just incase. Maybe he went back to the room already"blake replied as the four split up it seems.
Blake and Onxyia decided to head up the stairs as they heard several people around upstairs. But once they reached the top a hand went up in front of the turned to see a skinny man in a black tux staring at them.
"Excuse me your not allowed up here"he snarky said
The two looked around them and no sign exactly told them they weren't allowed up here. Maybe it was a private party of something going on. But they should have a sign at least to notify them.
"Umm theirs not sign that says we can't be–"Blake begun but a women stopped her.
"Milfred get rid of those things their ruining our fun"a women voice said
The two looked over to see a women in a dark crimson red dress that fell to the floor. She had long red opera gloves on her hands that went up to her forearms. The dress had white trim around it along with that her skin was snow white pale. She had wrinkle on her skin suggesting she was in her late fifties. But her eyes were violet and she had dyed black hair that was long. In her right hand was a pair of opera glasses.
"Umm ma'am i'm pretty sure everyone allowed up here"onxyia retorted a little annoyed.
The women walked over to the two with a disgusted look. She stepped infront of them as she glared at them.
Blake narrowed her gaze at the women because she seemed to be one of those stuck up upper class passenger Elize mentioned.
"You know it rude to stare at–"blake begun but the women stopped her rudely.
"And you things shouldn't even be allowed on this ship."she rudely said
"Lady were not things were people so don't–"onxyia begun but the women interrupted her exclaiming something.
"Or what you'll attack me like the rest of those animals. You and those filth are nothing but the common house pest. We shouldn't even be heading to your farm"the women rudely interrupted again.
Onxyia glared at her as she rubbed her arm a little from all this slander. This seemed to be affecting blake a little too. Because it was quite rude to act like this.
"Look miss–"blake begun but the women interrupted her again.
"Beatrice Milbourne, their you got my name beast"the women rudely said introducing herself.
They didn't exactly care for the women name, the two just wanted to know if uncle verde was up their. Maybe he got past them with colt because blake noticed a few humans up their in casual wear.
"Ok Beatrice, were looking for a doctor up their. Is he up their?"blake questioned
Beatrice stared at the girl for a bit then weaved her hand at her, motioning her to leave right now it seems. The two were getting pretty annoyed by this and was losing patients.
"Ma'am it a–"onxyia begun as she stepped forward as beatrice and milfred stepped back. They acted like she came at them or something.
Beatrice let out a weak scream which seemed to get the attention of the other people close by. They started to walk over to examine what was happening near the stairs.
"Whats going on? Whos screaming"A passenger said
"Yeah did someone get hurt?"a women passenger added
"Oh thank goodness these two things were trying to attack me"beatriced lied as she faked a look of fear on her face.
"What we didn–"blake begun but someone from the crowd interrupted her.
"Seriously someone get the captain, a mutt and cat are attacking passenger"a passenger exclaimed
The two faunus girls looked at each other what exactly was going on. They just wanted to check out the lounge along with finding their uncle. But now some racist decided to mess with them because they apparently rented this part of the ship.
"Look we did no such thing she–"onxyia began but someone stopped them getting in their face.
"Oh shut up you pest, seriously why do we even get on a ship that allows flea ridden pest"the women said pointing a finger in her face.
Onxyia shoved the women finger out of her face not exactly liking her tone and how she treated her.
"Don't touch me you beast. Now go to the lower class section or wherever you came from."the women replied
"But they attack me they should be arrested"beatrice added in as she smiled when no one was looking.
"We didn;t attack you miss we–"blake begun but she was interrupted again.
"Of course you did both of you things are carrying weapons. Your probably part of that terrorist group"miflred pointed out which made the crowd murmur
They had their weapons sheathed but they didn't extactly threatened anyone. Blake began to cover her ears from all the murmuring to drown them out. Because all their comments were directed toward the two and they were hurtful.
Ranging from fifth, terrorist, it along with many other things. But soon a man stepped up getting the crowd attention with a whistle. As he did that the crowd looked behind them. Along with blake and onxyia covering their ears.
Their above them was a familiar brown haired man of a certain bunny faunus he was related to. On the top of the stairs was Will Scarlitina with a women next to him.
She seemed to be in his her late twenties, she had fair skin. Her hair was charcoal black and was long tied into a a long braid. She had a hair clip in her hair of a dolphin on it. It was silver and blue in color that gleaned in the light. Her eyes were bright orange.
The women in question wore an overcoat that was navy blue in color along with gold buttons on it. It was left unbutton to show off some of her clevage. Along with that she wore a plain shirt underneath it that was maroon in color. Along with a bandloier across her chest that was colored light brown.
She had on a black skirt with some gold trim to it, along with that she wore some stocking that were up her entire leg that were colroed jet black. She wore a pair of cavilier shoes that were dark grey in color. Along with that on her back was a halbrad from the looks of it.
"Whats going on down here I heard shouting"The women asked
"Oh thank goodness your here these two things attack me"beatrice replied as she faked cry.
Will rolled his eyes at the women"really beatrice I hardly believe that"will said
"Oh and how would you know?"miflred question with his hands behind his back with a smug expression.
"Because theirs friends of my daughter you biggot. With the wolf being her grilfirend"will retorted glaring at him.
The women sighed as she rubbed her eyes"look from how i'm seeing it they didn't attack you"the women replied
Beatrice looked at the women as she layed their on the stairs with her legs sideway.
"But they hit me in the leg with those weapons of theirs"beatirce said as she was messing up her story.
"Really I thought I heard you scream they shoved you"will asked knowingly.
Beatrice looked at him as she darted her eyes back and forth.
"Umm well i'm old I may say things wrong sometimes and–"beatrice begun but the women stopped her.
"Seriously I don't even know why were ferrying you. Lady you do, my semblance can tell when your lying. Because right now from my point of view your lying"the women replied
"Perportouerous your doubting me I demand you arrest these two, no better yet throw them overboard"beatrice demanded.
"Thats not going to happen miss, this is my ship not yours"A familiar gruff voice said as the crowd turned to see buckley standing their.
"Ah the captain your employee here and these two pest are accusing me of lying"beatrice said
"Really? Hmm cella is this true?"he asked the women who name who cella
"No sir from what I can tell the old women is lying through her teeth….or what remains of it"cella said muttering the last part.
"What did you say I'll have you know–"beatrice begun but the captain stopped her.
"Miss i've had enough of you and your groups antics today. If you do not stop i'll gladly move you to lower class"buckley threatened.
Beatrice scoffed at him with a smug look"good luck with that boy, if you do that i'll just sue you and your ship"beatrice replied
Will look past the crowd noticing blake covering her ears still. She closed her eyes tight and the scineitst sighed heavily. He gentle made his way past the crowd as Onxyia looked at him.
"Dear are you alright"will asked as he gently tapped on blakes shoulder. She slowly opened her eyes as she uncovered her ears.
" your here?"Blake questioned surprised to see him here.
"Yes, surprised to see you two here actually. Though lets catch up after this little problem"will replied with Blake nodding.
The group turned their attention at hand to the spoiled women throwing accusations around.
The captain was rubbing his eyes as he took off his cap then placed it on his he sighed narrowing his gaze at the women.
