Chapter 16 Black and White:Shakedown
In the other room Blake heard the video being played and sighed. Not extactly how she wanted tonight to start with breaking bad news. Though she also felt upset for her little brother. Both people she cared about are now gone.
Verde was looking at Sorrel as he layed in his arms asleep. While Aruna covered her eyes not exactly happy to hear that dumb wolf faunus died.
"Seriously….why does the white fang have to ruin everything"aruna said outloud
"Hey come on look maybe she was lying?"yahto suggested
"No, ilia is no lier along witht that what declan said about killing them. She wouldn't do that"blake added knowingly
"How would you know that cousin"aruna asked coldly.
"Because Onxyia helped akasha and her start dating. "She simply replied as the two got silent a little.
"Oh…but why would she attack her?"yahto asked
"My guess, they probably threatened to kill her if she didn't do it"blake replied saddly
Soon enough Saber walked into the room walking toward Ghira. He looked a little confused why everyone was in the main entrance.
"Sir is something wrong, why is everyone in here?"Saber asked concerned looking at the group.
Ghira took a deep breath as he put his hands behind his back"it seems has lost someone very close right now. I think its best if she takes a week break"ghira advised
"Gladly sir, kid deserves to grieve. But one of my men saw bringing in his daughter, she looked hurt"saber replied
"She was attack by an assassin, more likely a White Fang member. "Ghria answered
"Hmm if I may ask who is charge after the last leader stepped down?"saber questioned.
"Hm..that would be Ollie Weaver. He was his second in command and the one after that would be either Trifia or Yenna"blake replied
"Whos Yenna?"yahto asked wondering who that is.
"If I recall one of ollie Litenaunts, though what could they be planning?"blake questioned herself.
"If this is going to become a threat then we'l have to increase security. I'll round up more of my men and have them stationed around menagerie. Hopefully we can track them down before anything bad happens."saber began before stopping.
"Tell Zoey take all the time she needs, kid put alot of hard work here"saber said as he left to round up his men.
"Very well.I have planned on meeting with the council to discuss my speech to give to everyone."he replied before turning to Blake,Sun.
"Do you two have a plan?"he asked
"Well from what Trifia and Akasha told us when we saw them last. Were going to see if their are any spies in menagerie or anyone that is accordance with them. Maybe we can find more about their plans"blake said
"Shes going to need some help might as well tag along"sun replied
"Same here three head are better than one"yahto added joining in.
Blake looked over at the door to the other room."what about them?"blake asked her father.
"Don't worry your mother can handle it, it'll take time for them to lament on their loss. "Ghira replied
Blake nodded as her, sun and yahto decided to head out to get an early start as Saber went to increase security around the island. Through the door from the dinning room opened as kali walked through.
"How is she dear?"ghira asked
"Not good, her and zoey aren't taking it well right Blake?"kali replied
Ghira nodded before speaking"Blake, Sun and Yahto went to scout out the island for potential spies While Saber is increasing our security. Ollie seems to be stirring trouble on the island for the faunus community."ghira said which made kali worry
"Dear…let hold off on the speech for now. Until we know who the spies are then that way we'll be prepared."kali replied through ghira only shook his head.
"I wish I could dear but the people must know the truth about what happened at Beacon. They have the right to know who is responsible."ghira replied
"I will retire to my study to finish my speech."he added
"I'll have jazmine come grab you when dinner is ready."kali replied as he smiled back at his wife before stepping away to his study.
"Do you need help auntie?"Aruna asked
"You can help me make some dinner. Were feeding alot of people tonight so I could use the help in the kitchen. Care to join us mari?"kali asked
"I don't know who will watch piper?"mari asked
"I can it wouldn't be a problem"Jazmine volunteered.
"Kitty"piper said as she grabbed jazmins hand as she smiled at this.
"Splended,come now dear"verde said as he walked off with piper and jazmine in tow.
"Ok…..lets go then. "Mari said a little sadden to see her friend like relized the girl looking sad as she placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry she'll be fine, if we need to I can help out at the orphanage. "Kali reassured as her, aruna and mari headed to the kitchen.
Meanwhile Blake,Sun and Yahto were walking about menagerie as they started in the aquatic market seeing any signs of people acting suspicious. So far they weren't having any luck as they asked the faunus around but they just shook their head or saying they haven't seen anything out of the ordinary but they continued on.
"Doesn't look like they know anything here. Lets head to the main market next maybe we'll get lucky their.."Sun suggested as they were leaving for the main market.
Now on the main road it was a relatively short walk to the main market as their were many faunus gathering mainly for trade and buy other things that they might need in the future. Though sun and yahto noticed blake walking slightly faster pace than them almost like she was on a mission as she glared straight ahead.
"Yo blake can you slow down a a little fast aren't we"sun said but blake simply ignored him.
"We can't slow down. If their are spies here then we need to snuff them out before they do cause more harm"blake said sternly as she quicken her pace now pulling away from him.
"Look Blake I get you wanna find these people that are spying in menagerie but you're going to wear yourself out like this you know. We need to be quiet about this"yahto replied
That made blake slow down as she remembered how last time she overdid it she got sleep deprived and had to be carried back by Onxyia and Yang.
"You two are right…I never gotten to slow down the moment I got here. Especially when I heard Ilia was here and she lost akasha."Blake said as she slowed her pace to let the two catch up to her.
"You and Ilia were close weren't you?"sun asked
Blake nodded:yeah…we she lost her parents to a mugging accident in Atlas she had no where else to go but to the White Fang. Even then she was so closed off with everyone. That is till she met me then we met Onxyia and Akasha"blake answered as she continued
"It took me about two months but we eventually started to talk to each other like normal people. Then we became friends and then we met onxyia and Akasha, Jae. When we all hung out it meant so much to her especially when Akasha asked her out"blake smiled remembering that day.
"Though when I met Adam we began to speak with each other less and less till we hardly spoke to each other only on rare occasion. But she had Akasha and Jae with her which did seem to help her. "Blake began.
"But then when I saw my little sister lose her leg in front of me. I knew that Adam didn't care if he had to kill several faunus to get his way. But…he did seem to hesitate because a member asked if they should kill me and jazmine. He said don't let them wallow in their pity"blake begun.
"Then I just needed to get away from him…I hated him. Two years later when I turned seventeen I separated myself from the white fang after a train robbery. I honestly thought those three would leave to….like me and onxyia. But they couldn't i'm guessing Ollie threatened them"blake said
"Hey you knew when it was time to get out and you did just that. You saw what they were doing was wrong and you dind't want to be a part of it. That means you're strong 't let anyone tell you otherwise"Sun said as it did bring a smile on blakes face.
"Hmm, it seems you do have a brain in their"yahto joked as sun rolled his eyes.
"Despite that, you should start smiling more your much cuter that way"sun said as blake only chuckled.
"If your trying to flirt with me you should know i'm already taken."blake said back through she noticed in the distance someone acting differently at a vendor.
"Wait seriously? Boyfriend or girlfriend?"Sun asked
"Not now sun. "blake said trying to get him from talking.
"I mean I don't judge or anything just want to know if your…"Sun stated but Blake put a hand on his mouth to quiet looked at what she was looking at.
"Lower your o'clock dog faunus"yahto whispered gesturing to the guy in front of the vendor was rather nervous as he had a bag.
"H-here you go sir. T-thank for u-using our service"the female vendor stated.
"No…..thank you for providing what the white fang wants. Maybe we don't kill you sicne you've been so good to us"the dog fauna said with a cheeky grin staring at the women bust as she covered her chest.
The dog faunus left the vendor with a big grin on his face though that immediately went away as he noticed in the crowd that blake was coming right toward him alongside a monkey faunus and human. Their was only one thing he could do and that was run.
"Got a runner!"yahto shouted
"You two chase him on roofs I got him on foot!"sun shouted as blake gave chase while blake headed to the roofs as she was more agile. Yahto was to as he jumped from rooftop to rooftop with ease. The dog fauna ran as fast as he could but the monkey faunus was on him. So to slow the monkey down he purposely tipped over a cart full of potatoes toward sun.
Sun nearly tripped on the potatoes that rolled at him but he gathered his footing running at the man as the man took a corner into an alley. He then knocked over some crates as they broke on contact with the ground before running forward. Sun saw the crates and jumped off the wall then back to the ground running directly at him as he saw the man turn out of the alley.
The moment sun came out of the alley he was met with a clothesline knocking him to the ground. The dog faunus then jumped on top of sun putting his hands around the monkey throat almost like he was trying to choke him. Sun struggled to get the stronger guy off him as he tried to break the hold on his neck his vision already starting to blur.
Suddenly out of nowhere blake launched herself at the dog fauna tackling him with yahto jumping at him two. This gave sun time to get back in his lungs. The two rolled on the ground before Blake kicked the dog faunus off as he landed on his feet. Yahto and her both got in fighting stances. They didn't need to use weapons if neccessary.
The three cirlced each other but the dog fauna made the first move charing at blake throwing the first punch. Blake predicted the punch and ducked it before delviierng a swift elbow jab to jis stomach making him stumble backwards as Yahto came in backflip kicked the man in jaw but he still didn't go down given his blurry figure.
The dog faunus recovered quickly as he charged at her again. This time Blake decided to try and jump over him but he saw that coming as in mid jump he grabbed blakes right leg and withall his might swung her around before tossing her toward a brick wall as it shattered from the impact. Luckily her aura helped taking that blow but now she needed a different way to finish this guy before he could get away from them.
As she got up to dust herself off Yahto rushed in while he jumped off a wall charging in at the man. Blake then charged at him two and the dog faunu couldn't exactly pick which one to counter first. He went for yahto first as he tried to counter what he did with blake early. But the moment he extended his arm blake grabbed it pulling it down. Then this left his face wide open as yahto kicked him square in the jaw. The man landed on his back with a loud thud.
The two quickly got up to their feet as the man was still downa s he rolled up looking up at the sky but was also staring down the barrels of blake and yahtos gun.
"Hmm too slow doggy"yahto said
"Alright, we got some question to ask importantly whats in the bag?"blake asked
"None of the your dam business traditor"the dog fauna spat though sun grabbed hold of it before opening it revealing modeling clay along with other components.
"Just some random stuff. Can you two tell what it is?"Sun asked as he handed the bag to blake as her and yahto looked at it. Yahto took a peek inside while he had his gun trianed on him along with blake. Then he noticed what was inside and wasn't too happy and he handed it back to sun.
"Like he said somr random shit"the dog faunus said
"Really…looks like the making of bombs to me"Blake said whiched shocked the faunus.
"I know that make up and those material. Their planning on making C4"yahto stated
"Whoa hold on! Isn't that stuff liek highly explosive"sun said rather surprised at what they discovered.
"More like the yield if produced right. Sun contact Saber and get him over her now"blake roder as sun whipped out his scroll and dialed his number. Nto five minutes later Saber appeared and took the man into custody along witht eh bag as evidence.
"Thank you you three for calling me. I'll also have a word with the vendor that gave him this"Saber replied
"Go easy on her. More than likely she was threatened by him and demanded the stuff to make that bomb"sun replied
"Hmm he could have had her made several for thim maybe"yahto suggested
"Alrght we'll check it out, what will you three do next?"saber asked
"Well scout a little bit more before going back home. We can't leave any stone unturned."blake said. And with that Saber and his men escorted the dog faunus away as blake, sun and yahto moved to another area. Though what they didn't expect was that corsac had watched the entire event unfold as he scoffed before leaving the area so tha the wasn't spotted by the two of them.
At another apart of menagerie Fennac was mediating as he waited for his older brother to return while also awaiting order from Ollie as it was apparent he had some sort of plan in mind that will force the human race to kneel before the faunus superior might and obey them. Ilia was off to the side sitting their waiting at well. She had to tell ollie she failed to kill onxyia.
The door opened as Fennacs ears perked up and illia turned toward the door to see Corsac returned from his task though he noticed that he wasn't as happy as he thought.
"Something troublign you brother?"Fennac asked
"It would appear out supplier has been found out. and her friend tracked him down and managed to subdue him. This does not bode well for our leaders said
"Along with your failure to kill the target"corsac added looking at ilia.
"I'm s-sorry…she had backup….I waited for her to be alone…but"ilia began but corsac put a hand up telling her to stop talking.
Fennac slightly growled at this"it would appear is getting rather troublesome. Ollie will not be pelase about this"Fennac replied
"Oh believe me you two, i'm not please one bit"ollie voice rang out as he stepped through the door with a women behind him.
The women in question wore a black and grey bodie suit that showed off her figure it seems. While she had a large machete on her hip. Along with that she wore a white fang mask on her head. Though her skin appeared to be pale and she had dark purple hair with some brown mixed in that seemed to be long that reached her back. On her back she had a hyena tail.
"B-brother Ollie and sister Yenna. We weren't aware that you arrive in menagerie"corsac said.
Ilia froze up a little at the arrival of the two as she crossed her arms.
"Quiet you! Now if I'm understandignt hsi correctly out supplier didn't go well because of blake and her friends. And you failed to eliminate that wolf."ollie asked looking at the three.
The three looked at each before taking their turns speaking again"yes that does sound correct sir for out bomb maker"Corsac replied
"And you failed to kill that stupid wolf….did you tell her our plans?"ollie asked looking at ilia.
"no…no….I only told her that….the traidtors known as Xander and Akasha are dead"ilia said looking down.
Ollies ears perked up a little at this"really you told her that, oh thats rich. Bitch deserve it for stabbing me in the leg"ollie said smiling but then he walked over smacking ilia across the face.
"Though…fail again and you will face punishment"ollie warned as Ilia nodded as she turned away from him. Then he threw her onto the ground as yenna stared silently at the group.
"Sir if I may do you have a plan?"corsac aksed
Ollie contemplated a moment trying to come up with a plan of his own but then something came to mind.
"Hmm if I recall Ghira will be planning a speech tomorrow. Maybe I should make myself known and send a message directly to Blake, her friends, and all the faunus of menagerie. Remind them about the damages the humans caused us. And your going to do it little ilia"ollie replied looking at ilia.
"Y-yes sir"ilia answered as she bowed her head.
"Are you sure this is wise?"Fennac replied
"Hmm no, but it'll remind the faunus to stay out of business or help out cause"ollie grinned as he wanted to make an example of them.
Hours had past as it was nightime as Blake, yahto, sun had returned to belladonna house after scouting out more of the island and they arrived to be met by a hurtful scene.
Nadia was still looking over Zanes weapons as she stared at them with a sorrowful expression. While Zoey was their sitting on the couch. Neo was close by comforting her cousin the best she could.
Colt and Sienna were their with them as well. But they tried to talk to her as she sat their silent.
While Onxyia was their with them looking at the skull necklace in her hand. Katherine wrapped her arm around her daughter to comfort her. Declan meanwhile was with ghira helping him with his speech.
Along with Verde, Jazmine and Piper in the room. Verde was holding sorrel as Jazmine played go fish with Piper. Though she was letting the girl win.
Once inside the three looked at the sight of the dinning room. The atmosphere was thick with dread in the air. They took some seats while everyone sat their patiently for dinner.
As they did Sienna sighed heavily looking at Nadia who kept staring at the weapon tried to tap her on the shoulder but she glared at him. He stopped backing off for now.
"Nadia dear….please talk its been two hours now. "Sienna begged her friend and partner to talk.
"About what…that my son is gone again, first he gets kidnapped and experimented on. Then I hear he can't even remember who he was for years. When I finally get him back, hes gone again"nadia coldy replied
"I understand dear but….please their are people who care about you here"sienna replied
Nadia just covered her eyes shaking her head"really then why did no one go back for him"nadia asked looking at the group.
"We were…injured we couldn't exactly go back"Blake replied as she looked at her arm.
"Really then where was his partner, what happened to her huh?"Nadia asked, a little annoyed.
"Hey she was in critical condition last I saw, couldn't really do much if your dead"yahto added
The tiger fauna just rolled her eyes as she glanced at the case"then what about your partner…where was she?"nadia asked looking at onxyia who mother was still near her.
"I don't know, all I know is that when Colt came by in that truck. Then we headed to camp, but the news said she was alive. He must have gotten her out before heading back to the city."onxyia replied
"Wait…you guys don't know?"Sun asked as the group looked at him.
"Know about what?"yahto asked confused what he meant.
Sun went wide eyed as she sighed rubbing his eyes. Onxyia looked at him worried what happened to eria during the fall.
"Sun….what happened to Eria?"onxyia asked
The monkey faunus looked away as Nadia rolled her eyes.
"Of course he's too afraid to tell me that my son is dead when I ask him. Now he's too afraid to tell you what happened to your teammate"nadia replied
The monkey faunus looked at her"Sorry I didn't have the heart to tell you. I didn't want you break your heart. And I really don't want them to know what happened to Eria"sun retorted.
"What so bad that you can't say it?"neo signed to colt who translated.
Sun looked down as he gripped his fist"she lost her leg when she tried going back for pyrrha"sun replied softly. Onxyia went wide eyed at this as she put her head down shaking it. Her partner and friend lost her leg during the fall.
"No…not Eria, why?"onxyia said to herself after hearing more bad news today. Nadia soften her gaze a little but was still upset about her sons death. He told her not to get mad at them begging even. But she couldn't help it, she didn't know who to blame.
Kali popped out of the room looking at the group"Dinner will be about ready, jazmine could you grab your father and declan"kali asked
"On it"jazmine said as she exited the dinning room and headed down a hallway toward her fathers study as she peaked in.
"Hey dad and uncle declan dinners about ready"jazmine said
Ghira nodded to her as did declan."thank 'll be right their"ghira said putting away his things. As Jazmine ran back down to the dinning room with Declan and Ghira walking down the hall. Minutes later the two joined the everyone at the dinning table.
"So did you three find anything suspcious"ghira asked
"Yeah we did. Their was someone in town that spoke to a trader in the main market and handed him a bag. "Sun started
"Then he notocied us and we had to give chase"yahto added
"But after that we subdued him we got a good look what was in the bag. Inside was some modeling clay along with connectors and other material. All the component to make a bomb"blake added
A few people went wide eyed at this"whoa back up….a bomb?"colt asked but still looked worried at nadia. The women didn't even care right now, she just wanted her son back.
Declan sighed"dam white fang, that Weaver kid is a nutcase. "Declan added
Ghira bushed his beard slightly contemplating what hes heard.
"What could be their objective?"ghira asked himself
"Beats i'm not sure on that. Whatever it has to do with a bomb then its normally never good."sun stated
"Though that begs the question, what exactly?"Verde asked as he sat in a chair with sorrel.
Soon enough kali along with aruna and mari walked out with dinner. Mari and Aruna were carrying some bowls and utensils. While Kali carried a pot full of soup. Then Aruna walked back and soon emerged with a tray full of drinks.
"Here we go everyone. Make sure you get your fill"kali said as drink were past out to everyone before they took their seat. But Nadia still sat away from them glancing at the weapon case. Zoey joined them as she stared at the food given to her.
They all began to eat as the atmosphere was quiet. Two family lost someone precious to them and it didn't help with conversations. Though Sienna looked over at her friend who was just sitting their mourning again.
"Colt, how bad was it before this"sienna whispered to him.
Colt looked over and frowned at this"it was pretty bad, but it's alot worse now. "Colt replied quietly.
Onxyia listened to this as they ate for about fifteen minutes in silence. While Nadia sat far away from them mourning still. After a but if time everyone was done with their dinner. Some began to clean up as they discussed who will be sleeping where.
"Our house is big but not exactly big enough to hold everyone here"kali replied
"Well me and Verde can share a room"sienna replied as she glanced over at nadia. She was still looking at the weapon case covering her face.
"Umm I'll share a room with Blake or whatever"aruna said a little upset. She was actually upset to hear what happened to xander actually. The wolf faunus did peak her interest actually.
Blake looked at her as she sighed"alright that'll work what about you Neo?"blake looked toward the she pulled out her scroll as she slowly typed on it sending the text.
"I don't know maybe stay with Nadia or Zoey, their might not be room here"neo text read
Jazmine rubbed the back of her head regretting what shes going to say"you could room with me, pretty sure onxyia staying at her parents house"jazmine asked
"Yeah, i'll just meet you guys in the morning."onxyia replied with a sadden voice.
Neo looked at the cat faunus and just shrugged her shoulders. She walked toward her giving a small thumbs up. Jazmine gently nodded as the two headed upstairs. While Mari held piper who was now asleep.
"Ummm nadia i'm very sorry to ask you this"mari asked as nadia looked up.
"Yeah…whats up Mari?"nadia replied looking at her.
Mari sighed heavily"will you be helping at the orphanage tomorrow, if not me and james can do it. "Mari said
"Ummm i'll help out"colt added in joining in as nadia slightly glared at him.
"Thank you…..nadia i'm sorry for your loss"mari said as she looked at her worried.
Nadia rubbed her eyes sniffing"look…i'm sorry for early…I just need time to myself."she said as she got up. A crack could be heard from her back as she rubbed it.
Zoey was walking out the front door shaking her head. But before she did Saber stopped her and she looked at him.
"Oh hey sir"zoey replied softly
"Kid enough with the formalities its saber"saber replied
"Alrigth Saber, whats up?"zoey asked
Saber took a deep breath"Look I think you should take a break, go and grieve for your brother alright"saber ordered it seems.
"Look right now, white fang are planning something big right now. I'll grieve after were done"zoey replied as she clenched her fist.
Saber sighed"too bad chiefs orders, we can handle this. Just take a break for tomorrow alright"saber asked
Zoey sighed heavily as she pushed past him"fine, only tomorrow"zoey said as she left the house walking home.
Yahto and sun were heading upstairs apparently the two were going to share a room. As they did sun looked at the guy. Yahto noticed this and he narrowed his gaze.
"Whats up?"yahto asked
"Nothing just….tongiht has not been fun at all"sun replied
"You can say that again, two families just learn both their sons and brothers are dead"yahto replied
Sun scratched the back of his head"yeah, lets just hope this stuff with the white fang is settled soon"sun replied as they headed off to their room.
Onxyia and her parents were on their way out as the same time as nadia, along with colt, and mari along with piper who was sleeping.
The wolf faunus looked at Nadia for a second before she dug through her pocket then pulled out her wallet. She went through it as she pulled out the picture of her team before the final round. Then she looked at Nadia and she was contemplating something
"Dear whats that?"declan asked looking a the picture.
"Our team picture we took it the night before the final round, their was an extra and Zane said save it when we won it. Guess we did…I want to give her it"onxyia said sadly.
Declan placed a hand on onxyia shoulder motiong her to do it but be calm about it. The girl nodded as she slowly walked over to nadia. Her foots steps being heard a little as she women turned holding her sons weapons.
She sighed"what do you want kid"nadia asked softly.
Onxyia thought for a moment before she lifted zane necklace off her neck. Then placed it on the picture. She then held it in front of her as nadia looked at it.
"I think you should have this….I miss him too. But….you were his mother you should have this"oxnyia said.
Nadia looked at the picture smiling a little before sighing"look girly i'll take the picture, keep the necklace for now. "Nadia replied as she slowly took the picture from underneath the necklace. Onxyia looked at her worried a little.
"Why…you deserve this….I–"onxyia begun but nadia stopped her.
"Look, right now i'm trying hard not to yell at anyone. His last words were to not get mad at you. Might as well honor them. And he seemed to care about you alot."nadia begun as she looked at the picture in hand.
"And i'm sorry for your family lost, it seems we both lost someone we loved. If you wanna talk tomorrow stop by, I live right next to the orphanage"nadia replied as she started to walk away from her. Onxyia looked at the necklace in hand caressing it then sighed as she put it back around her neck .
Her parents caught up with her as katherine sighed as she layed her hand on looked at her mother with a sadden expression.
"Lets head home dear"katherine said as the blairs did that. Theyreturned home and got prepared for bed. Onxyia went to her old room she stayed in. The room had a bed that was big enough for two. Along with some posters on the wall, pictures, some candles, a yin and yang carpet in the middle.
She sighed as she got dressed in some pajamas and got under her sheet. Then she layed her down as she though about her brother Xander and Zane. She couldn't believe xander was gone now, she should have been a better big sister. But she just wished Zane didn't leave her like that. She soon drifted to sleep thinking about nadia offer.
Meanwhile at the belladonna house blake stared out at the moonlight coming from the broken moon before looking at a small yellow ribbon she had in her hand thinking about her girlfriend is as she held it close to her.
"Goodnight Yang…where ever you are, be safe"blake said before she turned in for the night as she climbed in bed with Aruna being on the opposite side of the bed sleeping epacefully it seems. But she hoped that Onxyia could recovery from this, but all she had to do was wait for what else was going to come their way.
