Chapter 1: The In-Laws Meet

April 18, 2014 – Halstead Headquarters, Chicago
It was never supposed to have happened, until it did. She was never supposed to act on her feelings for him, but she ended up doing exactly that when she kissed him at an event (where she was just supposed to be his fake date) in Las Vegas. They were never supposed to have gone that far, let alone how far they actually ended up going…all the way to the altar in a drive-thru wedding chapel in Las Vegas. But that's precisely what happened to Jay Halsted and Alexandra Jacobs while they were in Las Vegas for an event where they unveiled the latest clothing line for Halstead Apparel, which she's a model for; more specifically, she's a lingerie model for one of it's fashion labels, Halstead Intimates. And let's just say that the Halsteads have been getting intimate with each other. Ever since Jay and Alex got married, they've been all over each other, which feels so wrong, yet so right at the same time. It feels like paradise when she's in her husband's arms, especially when he runs his hands all over her skin like he does when they're in bed with each other.

God, and don't even get her started about what happens when they take a shower with each other; because that's something else. The way he kisses her, teases her, and just pleases her; it's something magical that Alex has never felt any other man do for her. The way he just pleases her is incredible, and it makes her incredibly happy, just like the sound of his voice whenever he walks into the room she's in; just like what happened right now. "Hey, I didn't expect to see you here at the office." Jay said, as he walked into his office where he works as the Chairman and CEO of his family company, Halstead; the company of which he and Alex are the majority owners, with the two of them (together) owning 75% of the company. Meanwhile, Jay's brother, Dr. William Halstead, owns the other 25% of the company. The company which their great-grandfather created, which means that Jay is a third-generation CEO after the early retirement of his father in 2012; something he had to do in the aftermath of a stroke that he had that year.

But now, he was on the mend and very happy that one of his sons is finally married; as it means that there's a high likelihood that he could be alive when a Halstead grandchild is born, or so they hope. But, they aren't even thinking about that yet; not when Jay and Alex are still getting to know each other as they weren't in a relationship prior to the two of them getting married, though nobody but the two of them and their lawyers knew that. "Wait, is everything okay? I thought you were going to see my dad today." Alex agreed with her husband as he walked over to his desk and set some papers down. "Yeah, I did. I saw him and he asked me how things are going between us…and how soon he can expect grandkids." Jay sighed as he heard Alex say that, as that was something they've yet to talk about. "Jay, I thought we agreed that you were going to tell your dad that we got married in Vegas by mistake." Jay sighed. "I know, but stuff has been coming up. I just got a big deal started and I need to negotiate." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that.

After which, she thought about how he sounds just like her brother, Michael Cole Jr; the Vice-President and COO of the Cole-Howard Rental Group, which was her family company. "God, you sound like my brother MJ. I ran into his husband Adam on my way home yesterday. He said that Nick has been working non-stop at the Cole-Howard Offices. Been negotiating a deal with some new company. Soffer Holdings, LLC." Making his way over to his desk (and his wife), Jay stopped in his tracks when he heard the name of the company she just said. "Wait, did you just say Soffer Holdings?" Looking at her husband, Alex agreed as she extended her hand. "Come here." Jay agreed with his wife as he made his way over to her and then set the papers down on his desk, prior to wrapping his arms around her and smiling as he held his new wife close to him. At the same time, Alex wrapped her arms around his back and looked up into his gorgeous eyes. "How has your day been? You seemed quite stressed when you came into your office." Jay sighed.

After all, he has been quite stressed of late…because of negotiations with Cole-Howard, a company he's trying to merge with so that they can take on uHaul in the storage and rental market. He just never made the association that Cole-Howard would be owned by his in-laws. "Yeah, I was just doing some negotiations with someone." That's when he realized something…the man he was negotiation with was named Nicholas Cole. "Just curious, you wouldn't happen to know a Nic…" However, before Jay could finish his sentence, he heard someone walk into his office….the man he was just negotiating with. "Alex?" Turning her heard, Alex smiled when she saw her brother…Nicholas Cole, the same man Jay was just negotiating with. "Nick! Oh my god, what are you doing here?" She said, as she walked away from Jay and made her way over to her big brother. After which, she hugged him. "I thought you and Brit were in Sarasota for her brother's wedding." Brit being Nick's wife, Britney Cole. "He cancelled after he caught Taylor cheating with her ex."

Alex was shocked when she heard Nick say that. "Hold on, Taylor cheated on Ricky with her ex! Shit, that bitch!" Nick laughed. "Yeah, so me and Britney just cancelled. We were just going to not say anything, as we were hoping for a calm weekend just the two of us so that I can finally make mom and dad grandparents." Alex laughed. "Let me guess, you heard about Mike and Adam going ahead with surrogacy?" Nick agreed with his sister, as that's the truth. "I mean, at least let the couple who's been married the longest have kids first! Speaking of which, what the hell is with your Instagram! I've been meaning to call…but Britney showed me a ring! And I see it on your finger now. Are you married?" Going to hold her hand up, Alex laughed and agreed. "Yeah, I was going to tell you guys next week." Nick was shocked. "You married without the family! Oh, that idiot's going to hear it from me. Wait, why are you here at Halstead?" Jay just took a breath as he looked at Alex. "Nick, how about you come in and sit down?" Nick then looked at Jay.

And that's when he put it together. Why his sister was here at Halstead, in the CEO's office; rather than being at their offices, where his dad was hoping to bring her into the fold ahead of the merger. She was married to Jay Halstead. "Oh my god, you married my sister!"

The room went silent after Nick asked Jay a simple question, whether he married his sister, which he most certainly did. "Ok, calm down Nick and take a breath. Remember that I was a full, consenting party to this. So, it's not just Jay that made this decision." Nick agreed with his sister as she said that, well aware that was the case. "I know, I'm just shocked that this guy has the balls to marry the sister of the man he's negotiating with." Jay put his hands up when Nick said that. "I had no idea who she was. I thought she was just a model at my company, who I invited to Vegas to blow off some steam. I needed company and…" Turning her head, Alex glared at her husband as she wanted to remind him that Nick is her brother. "Honey! He's my brother, so tone it down and remember that he's not your bro friend." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, well aware that was the case as he went to sit on the couch he had in here. "You guys want to sit down with me?" Alex agreed with her husband, as she most certainly does. So, she walked over to her man.

After which, she sat down on the couch with him; prior to watching as he wrapped his arm around her and placed his hand in her lap. At the same time, she grabbed his hand and smiled as she intertwined their fingers. "So, you going to join me Nick?" Nick agreed as he made his way over to the couch where his sister was sitting with her husband. "What can I say, I'm just surprised at this. I mean, you've always been the good one Alex. I never saw you as the one who would go behind our backs and get married." Alex agreed with her brother, as that was the truth. "Yeah, I know. But, we just had fun in Vegas and got married." Nick agreed with his sister. "So, is this just for show until the divorce?" Alex was surprised that her brother even asked her that. "Nick! What the hell. You know me, I believe in marriage. Remember, I was the one that pushed you to marry Brit!" Jay agreed with his wife, as he heard all about that. "So, that means we're stuck with him for a while?" Alex laughed as she looked at her brother. "For the rest of our lives." Jay agreed.

After all, he believed in marriage until death as well; something he showed both his wife and brother-in-law by leaning in and kissing his gorgeous wife softly. Just taking things slow with her, Jay smiled as he loved the feeling of her lips on his. "I love you." Alex agreed with her husband, as she loves him too. "I love you too." Nick was surprised to hear them say that so early on. "Already?" Alex agreed with her brother as she turned her head and looked at him. "I always had a thing for Jay, which is why I am so glad that we got married. We just clicked, and it felt right. We thought about divorce right after it happened, but we decided to give us a shot because we both agreed there was something there." Nick agreed with Alex as she told him that, understanding what she was talking about, especially in his situation. "Ok. I was never going to share this with anybody, but I completely get what you're talking about since me and Brit were in the same situation." Alex was confused when she heard her brother say that. "What are you…" Alex was shocked.

After all, it was then she realized. "God, you both had your Bachelor and Bachelorette parties in Vegas! You guys snuck off at some point, and we knew you got together; but, we just couldn't find you." Nick smirked. "Tunnel of Love, June 9, 2012." Alex was shocked when she heard her brother say that. "You son of a bitch! Did mom or dad know?" Nick shook his head. "You tell anybody, I kill you. Britney swore me to secrecy!" Jay just looked at Nick as he said that. "You threaten my wife again, and I kill our deal!" Alex just looked up at her husband as he said that. "You do that, I switch from Halstead Apparel's lingerie division to working for Cole-Howard." Nick smirked as Alex said that. "Damn, you go for it Alex." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that. "By the way, I already told mom and dad. And they're happy. They think it means we can get a better deal with Halstead." Nick laughed. "Always looking for more money." Jay agreed with Nick as he said that. "Isn't that what CEOs always do?" Nick agreed with his brother-in-law.

After all, his dad wants him to get a good deal with Halstead. "We can work this out more, I promise. Maybe we can even work out a merger of our rental divisions. Then, we can all work together." Alex laughed, as she thought her brother was joking. "Yeah, right when dad makes me give up my shares in the company." Nick sighed. "That may have to happen since you own part of Halstead." Alex bit her lip. "Listen, can I not think about that? I'm not a business person, I'm a model." Jay agreed with his wife, prior to leaning in and whispering in her ear. "A very sexy one at that, especially like last night." Alex agreed with her husband, well aware of what he was talking about as she leaned back and turned her head; kissing him softly, Alex smiled as she took things nice and slow with her husband. Something which he brother most certainly didn't want to see. "Seriously sis?" Alex then turned to look at Nick. "Sorry, forgot you were there." Nick shook his head as he heard Alex say that. "Come hug me, then I can leave." Jay agreed.

After all, he wants some time alone with his wife. Something that Alex wanted too, with her husband; so, she got up and made her way over to her brother Nick. "Nice seeing you. Say hi to Brit for me." Nick agreed as he hugged his sister. "I will. Remember what I said." Alex agreed with her brother. "I know. Just go take it easy and have fun with her this weekend." Nick agreed with his sister as she said that, prior to walking over to Jay to shake his hand. "Take care of my sister, or you will answer to me and Michael, Jr. Oh, and the deal can be cancelled." Gulping, Jay agreed with Nick as he said that. "I promise." Nick smiled, agreeing with his brother-in-law as he turned around and walked away. Meanwhile, Alex got close to Jay and smiled as she placed her hands on his toned chest. "Jake and Maya are at home, and they're fine." Alex said, as she leaned in and kissed her husband after letting him know how their dogs are; both of them being German Shepherds, while Jake is also a service dog for Jay's PTSD…which he has after serving their country.

And unfortunately, them being at home alone means that Alex can't stay here for long. "That means you need to go, doesn't it?" Alex agreed with her husband, as it unfortunately does. "Yeah, I have to go home and take care of them. But, we have next week together." Jay smirked as he agreed with his wife, as they most certainly do have next week together; when they're in Hawaii on their honeymoon. On a sexy honeymoon, where he doesn't have to work and can just concentrate on the woman who just moved into his lap, while also placing her hands on his toned chest and her legs next to him. Meanwhile, he placed his hands on her back and smiled as he looked up into Alex's gorgeous eyes, while she wrapped her arms around his neck and looked down into his eyes. "I love you." Alex agreed with her husband as she wrapped her arms around his head, prior to placing her hands on the back of it and taking things nice and slow with the man she loves. "I love you too." Jay agreed with his gorgeous wife as he kissed her slowly.

While, at the same time, he decided that he didn't want her to be in her dress anymore; so, he decided to take it off…something which Alex approves of. Especially since he was doing it so gently and delicately by slowly undoing her dress, prior to tugging it off her shoulders. However, he couldn't take it off with her in his lap, so Alex had to push him again and get up; which led to Jay doing something for her, he took off his jacket and just smirked as he started to undo his shirt for her. "So sexy." Jay agreed with his wife as he went to undo his shirt, prior to getting close to her and wrapping his arms around her; placing his hands on her butt, Jay smirked as he felt Alex place her hands on his chest and lean in to kiss him softly. After which, she grabbed his shirt and pushed it off his shoulders; leading Jay to let it fall, which is where Jay was in the pushing of pushing Alex's dress down to. To the ground, so that it was off her lingerie. And damn, did Jay love the lingerie his wife was wearing for him; so, he made sure that he was the only one to see it.

To see her gorgeous body, which belongs to him now. And in order to do that, he bent down and picked Alex up in his arms; prior to wrapping his arm around her back and her legs around his waist at the same time as he picked up all of their clothes and kissed her. "God, I love you." Alex agreed with her husband, as she loves him too, which is why she's more than ready to spend some quality time with him in Hawaii. "I love you too Jay." Jay agreed as Alex told him that she loves him, prior to carrying her to their room so that they can have some time with each other; time like they plan on having with each other in Hawaii too.
