Before the Boiling Isles, Luz had two friends.

First, there was a girl named Lia. She was a cheerleader. She had blonde hair with a pink strand. Lia was Luz's first gay crush, but right as Luz was about to confess her feelings, she overheard Lia saying bad things about her to some boy. Luz ran away out of sadness.

Afterwards, there was a boy named Prescott. He was a blonde boy with a short temper. Luz didn't let that bother her, and the two became genuine friends. At some point, Prescott admitted that he had feelings for Luz. She did not return those feelings. When she politely said no, Prescott got angry and… said some very hurtful things.

Having been heartbroken twice, Luz went into her room and let out her emotions the best way she knew how. Singing.
