I jumped off the chair in our office and stepped back looking at my handywork. I know how Scully feels about bringing our personal relationship into work but, it was Christmas and isn't mistletoe a part of it. I was just about ready to leave for the night when I heard a knock at the door.
"It's open." I called out.
Agent Martin walked in. He worked in the violent crimes unit and needed some insight about a case he was working on. He looked up, noticing the mistletoe hanging there and looked back at me and winked.
"If you're waiting for me to kiss you under it, that's not gonna happen." I looked at him at nodded towards the door. "I was on my way out do you need anything else?"
"What time is Agent Scully in tomorrow?" He asked looking giddy.
I saw him glance back at the mistletoe. I wanted to physically toss his ass out of our office how dare he ask about Scully in our office in front of me, jerk.
"I'm not sure, good luck with the case." I walked out behind him, grabbed my jacket, and locking the door pulled it closed.

I left Scully's early to go home, shower, shave, and dress for work. I have some things at her place, but I have yet to leave my razor. I walked into the office and closed the door somehow, I still managed to get to the office before my beautiful partner arrived. The door was closed when I heard her outside calling my name. I walked over and opened the door. She walked in carrying a couple large coffees and a bag, no doubt holding warm bagels and cream cheese.
"What the hell is going on out there Mulder?" she asked as she kicked the door closed with her foot. "What are those people doing in the hallway outside our office?"
"What are you talking about?" I looked at her quizzically as I helped her with the coffee as she placed the bag on the desk. I placed the coffee down next to the bag and put my arms around her waist kissing her. She stepped back and looked at me. "Mistletoe Scully." I pointed up to the ceiling above my desk.
"You know it's work." She said but gave me another kiss with a smile.
"Yep and it's Christmas, give your elf a little fun Scully. I know you like to keep us out of the office but, I just wanted to kiss you under the mistletoe."
There was knocking at the door. Scully looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. I opened the door and there were about seven people standing in the hallway.
"Hi, what's going on out here." I asked. I looked back at Scully and she mouthed the words 'that's what I just asked you.'
It was strange seeing all these people in the basement outside the door of the X Files. The hallway was usually quiet and empty. I turned and looked at Scully who was staring at me.
"Agent Mulder, we heard you had mistletoe in here, so we came down to see if it was true."
A woman I recognized from accounting walked into the office looked up at the green leafy ornament and then looked up at me. Several other women walked in and looked up as well. I looked past them to see Scully standing there with her arms folded and her lips tense.
"You haven't seen mistletoe before. It's just a bunch of green..." I started to say when she grabbed my face and kissed me. The others walked in behind her.
I pushed away from her, and I saw Scully drop her arms and walk towards me, her tongue on her top lip meant I was in big trouble.
"Okay people, joke's over get out of the office and go back to work." she said with a loud voice as she corralled them, forcing them out of the office. She chased them out and slammed the door. I was in big trouble.
"What the hell was that." She said, staring at me with those blue eyes I love so much.
"Scully, I hung it for us. I figured I could get a kiss or two from you at work since I know you have rules against that. C'mon don't be mad it was hung with good intentions and it's Christmas." I smiled at her.
"What did you do advertise the fact you hung mistletoe in our office and offer free kisses?" She said that with a terse look that made me shake my head.
"Of course not. Agent Martin was down here last night right after I hung it. He was walking in to see me as I was leaving for your apartment. He must have said something. I noticed a few men in the hallway Scully if that makes anything better."
"Maybe they were here for you too Mulder because I'm not kissing other men for jokes or any other reason."
When she said that I knew she'd forgiven me. "I'm sorry I just wanted a little Christmas cheer under the mistletoe with you Scully.
"What were you going to do kiss all those women?" Now she was smiling.
"What? No, none of them. Seriously, you have an overactive imagination Scully. I'm not kissing anyone except you. No one except you for the rest of my life and whether you believe that or not it is a promise I intend to keep."
She walked to me, grabbed me by the waist and kissed me.
"Now before that causes more problems take it down." She said as she stared at it. "You can hang it at my place or yours, but it leaves here tonight."
"I could keep it in my pocket and pull it out when we're alone."
"You are still talking about the mistletoe, aren't you?"
"Ahh, yea….." I smiled at her. "Okay, I'll take it down." I grabbed my chair and stood on it cutting the ribbon while she steadied me.

I arrived at her apartment with my overnight bag and walked in. She had just finished her shower and was standing in the hallway still wrapped in her giant, fluffy bath towel. I smiled at her. Her soft skin and hair were still damp, I could smell her soap and shampoo. Our eyes locked and I couldn't help but stare at her. She looked back at me and stepped into her bedroom. I hung my coat and placed my bag at the foot of the coat rack. I looked up and she was standing in the bedroom doorway.
"Do you still have the mistletoe?"
"Yes, yes I do."
"What are you waiting for let's hang it." She stepped back into the bedroom.
