Chapter 1

I don't own Pokemon. Nor gold. I wish I had some gold.

Bold=Pokemon Talk when Ash is has his human illusion on

"Get up Ash!" came a voice from outside the bedroom door. "You'll be late getting a starter!"

"Mph, coming." said a voice from inside the bedroom on the bed. Ash Ketchum yawned as he came out from under the sheet, his little black furred ears flipping up as his head popped out. Blinking, the little Zorua yipped in excitement as the full weight of what today was hit him. "I'm going on a Pokemon Journey." he though excitedly as jumped of his bed onto the blue carpet. Reaching the door, he nuzzled the little lever near the bottom that he used as a Zorua to open the door, and headed down stairs. There he found his mom in the kitchen, cooking up some pancakes.

"Good morning, Meema!" greeted Ash as he jumped up onto his chair.

"Good morning too, son!" replied the Zoruark as she flipped a pancake on to a stack of them with her red claws. Picking up the plate, she brought them over to her son, who immediately started to devour them. "Sigh, you always had a big appetite."

"But meema! I start my Pokemon journey today, and I need the energy!" said Ash as he looked up from his pancakes, a piece of pancake sitting on top of his little black nose. "Oops."

"Dawww, you are too cute." said Delia as Ash flicked the pancake back onto his plate.

"Meema, I'm not cute. I'm a big scary Pokemon!" he protested. He tried to growl to show her just how scary he was, but it came out as a little cute yip.

"Very scary." said the bipedal fox with a smile. "Well, when you are finished eating, we can get you ready to go."

"Yippee!" exclaimed Ash as he dove back into his pancakes and finishing them in record time. He was just about to leap of the table when Delia took a wet paper towel to his muzzle. "Meema!" he said as he tried to move away, but the much larger fox grabbed him so she could finish.

"My own kit will not start his journey dirty," she replied as she got all the pancake off. Annoyed, he waited patiently till she got all the pancake off, then raced to the living room with his mom close behing. Opening the closet door, she grabbed a small green knapsack, just the right size for a Zorua, and then attached it to the back of her son. "Alright sweety, I got some Pokemon food in there, a camera, and a small blanket for you."

"Thanks, meema." said Ash as he walked over to a small mirror near the floor to see how he looked. Then he looked at his mom and asked "Mom, can I ride in you hair on the way to professor Oaks."

"Absolutely." she said as she picked him up and placed him in her hair. With that, she walked out the door (careful not to be spotted) and they made their way to Professor Oaks.

As he rode in his mom's hair, Ash thought about what made him decide to go on a journey. He wanted to travel, that's for sure, and meet new Pokemon. And even be the best, like no one ever was. However, there was another reason. One he had not told his meema. He wanted to show humans that Pokemon can do what ever they can do, just like his meema. There where some humans (not all, but some) that thought of Pokemon as below humans. That Pokemon where not intelligent and could not learn what humans learned (though Ash had to admit division was hard.) He would show these humans. It's what his mom did, after all. She lived in a human house and ran a human restaurant.

There was only one problem. There where evil humans out there that would hurt, kidnap, or even torture him and his mom if they found out the truth. So for now, his mom ran the restaurant disguised by an illusion of being human, a woman with brown hair that wore a pink blouse a lot. Ash himself had a human illusion, a ten year old human boy with black hair that wore a Pokemon League had he had seen on TV. This he used around the people of Pallet Town. Very few knew the secret.

"One day we can tell our secret, and then bad humans will know that Pokemon are not below them." he though with a smile.

Soon they arrived at Professor Oaks lab. Ash got out his meema's hair, and both foxes applied their illusion. Making sure everything was in order, they climed the stairs to the front door and knocked. After about ten seconds, the door opened and Gary Oak came walking out the door with a backpack on. Seeing Ash, he got a smug look on his face and said "Well, if it isn't Ashey boy. Guess what, I have a Pokemon and you don't!" he said as he twirled a Pokeball on his pointer finger.

"Oh really! Which one?" asked Ash eagerly.

"That's for me to know and YOU to find out. Smell you later!" he said as he header down the stairs.

"Something is wrong with that boy." said Delia to herself.

"Delia, is that you with Ash? Come in!" came a voice from inside. The two disguised foxes entered the white door and entered the living room to find Professor Oak getting up off of his couch. "I apologize on behalf of my grandson. I still don't know where he got this mean streak."

"It's OK professor. I'm just excited to start my journey said Ash with a grin. "Hey, is Ritchie here?"

"Ah, he is not, I'm afraid. The boat his family was to take back from their vacation was delayed, and he won't be here till tomorrow. I know you wanted to start your journey together." remarked the professor. "He did say to start with out him, and to make sure you get the group chat app on your Pokedex so you can talk with the group."

"Ok, so where is my new friend?" asked Ash.

"Right this way." said Oak. He walked over to a flight of stairs that headed up, with Ash and Delia following him. Reaching the top, they entered the main lab and walked over to a group of Pokeballs on a polished wood table. Picking one up, he turned back to Ash. "Now, this one is a little fiesty. However, with your unique condition, I think you will be the best bet for him." Pressing the button on the front, a white light appeared, and there standing on the white linoleum floor was a Pikachu. Male, by the look of it's tail.

"Alright you stupid human, where am I now?" said the Pikachu, looking at him angrily, "I already told you, I don't want to be a starter!" he growled as he turned to look at Ash. "Especially not some weak looking runt like that!"

"Oak, I don't know about this." said Delia.

"Don't worry mom, I can handle him. We are going to be best friends!" said Ash as he picked up the Pikachu with his illusion. The Pikachu was not amused, and proceeded to thundershock him. Ash just smiled.

"What, why are you still standing?" asked the Pikachu, surprised that nothing happened.

"I'll tell you later." replied Ash, causing Pikachu to become even more surprised.

"Did, did you just understand me?" he asked. Ash winked at him.

"Well, looks like the secret will soon be told." said Delia. "Before you go, I want to say something to you Pikachu. If injury comes to my kit, and you are responsible, you will regret it." Ash watched as his mother flashed the Pikachu a glare, and saw Pikachu suddenly tremble.

"Goodbye Meema, goodbye, Professor Oak!" said Ash as he then walked out the door and on to adventure.

The two had made outside of town and onto route one, walking under the bright blue sky, when Pikachu overcame his shock (and stopped being scared of Ash's meema.) "Ok, spill the oran berries, human. How can you talk to me, and why is your mom so scary?"

"Oh, meema can be like that sometimes." said Ash with a smirk.

"And another thing, you called her meema. I though humans called their parents mom and dad?" asked Pikachu.

"Well, I don't know why I would, since I'm not human." replied Ash.

"...what do you mean, your not human. You look human to me, with that stupid exposed skin and all." said Pikachu, looking up at Ash from where he was walking besides him.

"That is just an illusion." said Ash as they reached a field. Ash looked around, and seeing no one, he reached into his real knapsack (not the green backpack that was an illusion) and pulled out the camera. Turning it on, he turned it to video mode and placed it on the ground, the Kodak emblazoned lens facing Pikachu.

"What is Arceus are you doing?" asked Pikachu, folding his arms.

"I just want documentation of what your face will be when I show you!" said Ash.

"Show me what?" asked Pikachu.

"This!" said Ash, dropping his illusion.

Pikachu's jaw nearly his the dirt and his eyes went as big as Pokeballs when he saw what was in front of him. Gone was the pathetic human child, and it's place was a black furred Pokemon that looked like an Eevee. One that was rolling on it's back laughing. "Your face is priceless!" the Pokemon said as he continued.

"What...what are you?" asked Pikachu is a soft voice, to stunned to react to the laughing at his expense. The little Pokemon finally stopped laughing and sat up.

"I, my friend, am a Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokemon! The name is Ash." the Zorua said proudly.

"How long have you been a Pokemon?" asked Pikachu.

"Since I was born. Meema is a Zoruark, after all." said Ash. "Oh, and as to how your shock did no affect me, I got the lightning rod ability from my dad."

"I never knew my dad." said Pikachu bitterly.

"Oh...I'm sorry." said Ash, looking down. Then, perking back up, he said "Hey, do you want to have a battle?"

"A battle...with my trainer?" asked Pikachu, trying to wrap his mind around the very concept.

"Yeah, it will be fun!" replied the black fox with lighting bolt shapes under his eyes in grey fur. "I'll start!" Crouching down, he launched himself toward Pikachu with his paws, scratching the yellow rodent. He was surprised, but immediately got down on all fours and launches a Quick Attack, ramming right into the Zorua, who was knocked to the ground. Ash then got back up and yelled...

"Surprise!" as he shot a confuse ray out of his muzzle. It his the Pikachu spot on, and Pikachu was confused, looking this way and that, like he was unsure what to do next. "I got you now! he yelled as he then shot a Dark pulse from his muzzle. Unfortunately, the Dark pulse was aimed a little to Pikachu's right, and shot past him. It then proceeded to hit a Spearow that had just raised it's body up. The blast nocked the bird down. Crying in anger, it got back up an glared at the Zorua.

"You big meanie! Wait till my flock comes when I call. Then you will be sorry!" cried the Spearow. It then lifted it's head up and gave out a screech.

"Wait, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you!" said Ash quickly. But it was too late as he heard the sound of a flock of Fearow and Spearow in the distance. Looking at Pikachu, he realized that the yellow rodent was still confused and would be no help in a fight, and Ash thought he was not powerful enough to take on a whole flock of angry Spearow and Fearow. They would have to run. Quickly applying his human illusion, he grabbed the camera, threw it in his knapsack, grabbed Pikachu in his arms, and bolted. I really screwed this up, didn't I? he thought as he heard the Spearow and Fearow coming. He pushed himself harder, but the flying Pokemon where faster, and they soon where right on his tail. Ash was worried they might start attacking him. If they did, his illusion might break, and he could not carry Pikachu anymore. Running though some bushes, he came to a small waterfall. Taking only a quick look back to see the looming flock, he jumped into the river below.

Down the river, on the bank, sat a young orange haired girl. Her name was Misty, and she was fishing. With no luck, however. She was just about to quit when there was a bite on the line. Hopefull, she tugged with all her might, and to her surprise a human boy holding a Pikachu came flying out of the water, landing next to her. Looking close, she noticed the Pikachu looked confused.

"Hey you, is your Pikachu OK?" she asked as she knelt down beside the boy.

"I'm...we're fine." said the boy, breathing hard. Looking down at the Pikachu, he then said "Oh, good, the confusion is wearing off."

"What happened?" asked the girl.

"I...uh, my Pokemon where battling and one of them accidently hit a Spearow who got really mad. It then called it's flock and we had to run." said the boy.

"And you jumped into the river? asked the girl, giving him a look.

"Hey, it was the only way to survive!" protested the boy. Pausing for a moment, he then snapped his fingers and said "Do you have any Full Heal on you?"

"Actually, yes I do." she said. Getting up, she walked up a little embankment covered in grass to the path where an orange bike stood. Rummaging through the basket, she found one, and returned to the boy, handing it to him. The boy thanked her, then sprayed the Pikachu. Said Pikachu instantly perked back up.

"Glad to have you back Pikachu. I'm so..." a loud screech interrupted the boy. Both he and the girl quickly turned to see the Spearow and Fearow flock coming over the tree line in the distance.

"We got to get out of here!" yelled the boy in a panic.

"Don't you have multiple Pokemon to fight them?" asked the girl.

"No! I just started my journey today! Pikachu is my starter." he replied quickly.

"Hey, wait a minute, you said your Pokemon where battling each other!" accused the girl, pointing a finger at the boy.

"Uh...well..." he mumbled when another screech came from the flock. "Look, we don't have time for this. We need to get away."

"But how?"

"Can we use your bike?"

"What? Fine, but you better pedal while I hold Pikachu." said the girl.

"Huh?" asked the boy.

"Never mind!" the girl snapped. "Just hurry!" The three raced to the bike. The boy handed the Pikachu to her, and she carefully got into the basket as the boy got onto the seat. He kicked the kick stand, and they nearly fell over. Thankfully, the boy righted the bike, and started to pedal as fast as he could with her in the basket. Down the path they raced as the sky grew dark with clouds. Soon a drop came, and another, and a downpour, causing the boy to have to slow down. This was just what the Spearow and Fearow needed to catch up, and they started pecking the three occupants, especially Pikachu for some reason. The girl tried to swat them away from her as she looked up in time just to see a cliff.

"Look out!" she yelled. The boy pulled hard on the brake handles, but the rain caused the brakes to fail, and the three went off the cliff.

Ash was in pain as he opened his eyes, temporarily knocked out by the fall. A bolt of lighting illuminated the path and he saw Pikachu on the ground, covered in mud and moaning. "Pikachu!" he cried. Getting up, he noticed that the fall must have burst his illusion. He put his right paw on the ground, and winced as pain shot trough it. He gritted his teeth and pushed through it, making his way over to Pikachu, and for some reason, and Eevee. Reaching Pikachu, he nuzzled his muzzle into his side. "Oh Pikachu, I'm so sorry, this is my fault. I messed up, and now you are being punished for my stupidity. But I'll make it up to you!" Lifting his head, he spun around to face the flock as it was illuminated by lightning. "Spearow and Fearow, do you know who I am? I'm Ash Ketchum, son of Delia, of the great Ketchum clan of Zorua and Zoruark of Unova. I will not let you hurt Pikachu again. He is my friend and I will protect him. You hear? COME AND GET ME!" he roared. The Spearow and Fearow dived at him, cawing with glee. Then Ash felt a weight push of from his back, causing him to collapse. Looking up, he saw Pikachu above him. "NO!" he screamed.

"PIIIIIIIIIKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" yelled Pikachu. A bright light filled Ash's vision, and he was out cold for the second time.

The rain had stopped the little Zorua kit opened his eyes again. He felt sore and tired all over, and he the smell of singed fur entered his sensitive nose. Standing up, he limped over to Pikachu, who opened his eyes as he as he arrived. "Pikachu...you did it. Thanks." said the fox.

"No, Ash, thank you for standing up for me." said Pikachu. A smile appeared on his face as shakily stood up. "You know, I never had a friend like you before. Heck, I never really had a friend before, except my sister. You, Ash, you are true friend."

"But, but I was the one who got us into this mess." protested Ash.

"Yeah, and it was stupid. But you are my stupid." said Pikachu as he petted Ash's head fur.

"Hey!" said Ash as he playfully batted away Pikachu's paw. "I'm the trainer here!"

"Maybe the trainer needs a trainer!" smirked Pikachu. This caused them to both laugh.

"By the way, who is the Eevee?" asked Ash. The two Pokemon turned to look at the Eevee. Judging by the pattern on it's tail, it was a she, and she was getting up.

"Ugh, what happened?" she said as she looked around "Wait, where are the Spearow? Pikachu, is that you? Where is your trainer?" Ash and Pikachu looked at her with shock. They recognized that voice.

"Wait, are you the girl?" asked Ash.

"I have a name you know! It's Misty! Wait, that voice, are you the boy?" asked Misty to Ash.

"Yep, I'm a Zorua, and it looks like you are an Eevee! How did you make an illusion of being human? I though only Zorua could do that." he asked, curious.

"My father was a Zoroark while my mom was a Vaporeon. Somehow my sisters and I got his illusion ability." she replied as she shook the mud of her tail.

"Wow, wait till Ritchie, Arnold, and the other's here about this! An Eevee acting like a Zorua. Cool!" said Ash.

"Who are...MY BIKE!" yelled Misty as she looked over at her bike. Whipping her head back around hard enough to cause her large furry ears to shake, she hissed "Explain!"

So Ash and Pikachu explained. Ash told about how his ambitions of becoming a Pokemon trainer, of showing humans that Pokemon are not to be though of as below them, of how he got Pikachu, their battle, and the hitting the Spearow. Pikachu supplied how he had saved them with a huge bolt of lighting.

"I can't believe how stupid you are for hitting a Spearow. Also, you two owe me a new bike!" said the Eevee.

"I said I was sorry." said Ash and Pikachu together. Ash continued. "I don't have much money on me right now, though."

"Then I'm going to follow you till you repay me!"

"Uh, mons, look up!" said Pikachu, pointing up. The two quadruped Pokemon looked up to see a magnificent rainbow, and a large magnificent bird Pokemon flying by it. The three Pokemon looked on in awe.

"What is it?" asked Ash softly.

"I don't know," replied Misty. "But is is amazing."

"Shall we take it as a sign that good things are coming?" asked Pikachu with a smile.

"That's a great idea, Pikachu. Come one, let's head to Viridian City!

A diffrent twist on the Ash is a Pokemon story. There will be many more secret Pokemon. I wonder who they will be?
