"Okay, when I agreed to go to this thing, I didn't know I would have to wear…something like this," Mercedes said, staring down at the dress she was wearing. It was a bronze off-the-shoulder curve-hugging dress, with tasteful glitter covering every inch of her, stopping just above the knee.

"What? You said to get you a dress, and I got you one. Don't blame me; blame your niece." Roz said, throwing her hands in the air, smiling.

"Way to parent, Mom, just throw your only child under the bus." Thirteen-year-old Aria said.

Mercedes shook her head, laughing, "Ari, you have a brother."

"I don't acknowledge his ass." Aria laughed.

"Ari! I know your mom-"

"Ahem, that's her father's bull shit parenting. I am still part of the whoop-her-ass crew." Roz cut in.

Mercedes rolled her eyes. "Fine, Ari, I know your father believes in letting you have your freedom of speech, but I need you not to cuss while in my house. I don't allow your little cousin to do it so I won't let you."

"Sorry Cedes. You do look beautiful, though; you should wear the dress." Ari encouraged.

Mercedes chewed her bottom lip, checking herself out in the mirror again. After she left the farm, Stacey had reached out with free passes to Ashland's Annual Wine Tasting Event, which she hosted every year, and she assured Mercedes, Sam, and Stevie refused to attend.

Since it wasn't a casual event, Mercedes had nothing to wear, so she asked Roz for help. Santana and Jane gladly accepted the invite when Roz turned it down. She had plans of her own next week and wanted Mercedes to watch Aria and her brother, so she volunteered her services.

Mercedes sat at her Vanity, removing the rods from her hair as she looked at herself, debating whether to wear her hair up or down.

"Down." She heard behind her and smiled, jumping out of her chair.

"Mike!" She moved to hug him. "Did Cameron see you?"

"He did; I have been here for five minutes; your son is a time hog? Where are you going?"

"Well, I didn't know you were going to be here! You said tomorrow. So I am going to a wine tasting with some friends."

"Look at you going out and having some fun…its nice to see. You typically don't."

Mercedes shook her head. "Look, I am a mom first, and I didn't feel right going out and having fun while my parents parented my child."

"She's hard-headed. Her mom and I told her the same damn thing. You know what, I have a great idea. Mercedes and her girlfriends need an escort. Why don't you take them?"

Mike smiled. "I do like wine."

"You wanna go to a wine tasting with me and three of my girlfriends?" Mercedes asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Call it researching who is around my favorite guy."

"It's a dressy-ish kinda event…I don't even know what you would call it." Mercedes said with a shrug.

"Okay, I guess it's good I always bring a tie." He smirked. "I wanna see your life, Merce. Come on…"

"You also wanna see if any of my friends are hot." She teased.

"I am a multi-tasker; what can I say?"

Mercedes sighed. "The girls will be here in twenty minutes. Can you be ready?"

Mike smiled and tugged at his shirt. "I can be ready in fifteen."

Slipping into her heels, Mercedes made her way out of her room and was met by Santana, Jane, and Quinn. While Jane, with her subtle make-up and hair brushed over her right shoulder, wore a stunning one-sleeve emerald bodycon dress that stopped at her ankle, but the slit rose to her thigh, Quinn, with her hair in a tight bun, went with a blue halter top dress, with a zipper up the back and flared out skirt.

Santana let her hair fall bone straight down her back and bold make-up, not one to be outdone by anyone, wore a red strapless v-neck slip of a dress that stopped mid-thigh.

"Wow, ladies, you all look beautiful," Mercedes said, smiling as she moved closer to them.

"Says the literal Goddess standing in front of us," Jane said, smiling as she looked at the smokey-eye and bold red lipstick. "You look amazing."

Santana eyed her. "Oh yeah, we are going to be the sexiest bitches at this thing. Are we ready to go?"

Mercedes grabbed her bag. "Almost, we are waiting for Mike."

All three eyes looked at her. "Mike?"

"Cam's Godfather. He's here, and he's coming with us."

Quinn's eyebrow rose. "Sooo you and Mike are…?"

"Just friends; I had a baby with his brother, that's it," Mercedes assured her.

"Well, in that case, is he cute? Cause like I need some fun…" Quinn teased.

"What kind of fun were you thinking, Beautiful?" Mike asked from behind them.

All three women turned and stepped back, getting a good look at Mike Chang. Wearing a pair of black dress slacks, a matching blazer, and a white t-shirt, the girls stared at him for a long moment.

Mercedes made her way to the front door. "They were being silly, Mike. That's Quinn, Jane, and Santana. Ladies, this is Mike. Now, can we go?"

Roz walked out of the kitchen, eyeing everyone. "Alright, get on out of here. And Mercedes, don't do anything I wouldn't do."

"But you do pretty much everything." Mercedes snapped back playfully.

Roz beamed. "I know." She shooed them out of the house.

Sam lifted the case of wine, following Stevie into the back of the building so they could drop them off and leave before anyone caught him. Every year, the town threw this wine-tasting event, and Stacey volunteered to help host it, and every year, he and Stevie got out of it.

It wasn't that he didn't want to support the town; it was that he had hooked up with a lot of the women in that room, and he didn't need to see them again. It was always the same: some were angry he left them after one night of sex, some wanted to make him jealous, and others wanted to try their luck for another go.

As he dropped off the box, Stacey smiled; she wore a silver gown with silver flecks of glitter down the sides, the dress pooled around her feet, but her slit went up to her thigh. "Thank you, my wonderful brothers. You are free to go off and do whatever you two are doing tonight. I got it from here; Artie and Jesse can help put these out."

Sam raised an eyebrow. "Jesse? Stace, don't."

"Rachel pissed me off, so I am going to piss her off. It's not like I am going to have sex with the guy; I'll just ask for his help. Now go."

The door opened, and Sam froze, getting a glimpse of the guest. His eyes immediately found Mercedes, and he couldn't look away. That woman was dangerously gorgeous in a pair of jeans and a button-down top but in that dress.

Sam moved to the window in the door, staring out of it as Stacey and Stevie stared at him.

"Sam? Sammy? Sam!" Stevie yelled to get his attention.

"What?" Sam snapped at him before seeing a man bring her a glass of wine. "Who the hell is that?"

"Sam, you are supposed to be going…" Stacey said as Stevie pulled him away from the door.

"We are gonna be late for the poker game?" Stevie groaned. "And you know whenever we are late, we don't get the good seats."

Sam looked back out the window. "Who is he?" He said more to himself than anyone else.

"I dunno, he looks a bit like Cameron; you think that's his dad?" Stacey smiled. She knew who he was; when she greeted Mercedes, she and Mike were introduced, but getting to tease Sam was something she couldn't pass up. "They do look really good together."

Sam growled internally, though it came out loud and clear. "I am gonna go make sure she's okay."

"The hell you are!" Stacey said, moving in front of him. "First off, you are not dressed for this event; it wasn't cocktail dress optional! Secondly, she is having a good time, so leave her be. And finally, and I mean this with all my heart. What the hell is wrong with you!"

"His ass is whipped by the sexy goddess in there. And I never thought I would see the day." Stevie teased.

Sam turned towards his brother angrily. "No, I am not! I just wanted to make sure she was okay. That's it."

Stacey and Stevie looked at each other, shaking their heads as Sam watched Mercedes giggle, placing her hand on the man's chest. "Look, I don't care who she is with or what she is doing, for real, you know I don't do the relationship drama shit. I just wanna talk to her to make sure everything is cool."

"The lies you tell trouty lips," Santana said, coming out of the back room with Jane, both looking disheveled.

Stacey gasped, shaking her head. "And where did you two come from? I literally saw you at Mercedes's table like ten minutes ago."

Jane blushed. "I needed help with my dress."

Sam looked between the woman and smirked. "Nah, I know that look; I have made women make that look. Santana had you in that room, didn't she?"

"Yes, the hell I did; look at her. Can you blame me? But this isn't about me; it's about your obsession with Mercedes. I get it. I have tried my damndest to get at least a taste. But she shot me down. Color me surprised to learn she didn't shoot you down."

Stevie's jaw dropped. "You hit that! And didn't tell me!"

Sam laughed, ignoring Stevie. "So she told you. I must have made quite the impression; I do that."

"From where I am standing, guppy lips, it looks like she was the one who made the impression. You over here drooling like a man looking at his last meal. It's embarrassing,"

"You are all crazy. I was thinking about her son, making sure she is okay so she can go back to him."

"Yeah, and all Jane and I were doing was discussing your paint choice in that office. Now, are you going to man up and talk to her? Or stalk her from back here, 'cause it's creepy as hell."

Sam turned away from them and walked out the back door. Stacey smiled. "That man is so whipped. I don't know what she did to him, but I have never seen him like this."

"Sam usually tells me about all the women he sleeps with...but I didn't even know about Mercedes." Stevie looked after Sam and smiled. "Twenty bucks says; he changes and goes in there to see her."

Jane smiled. "I'll take that bet. Sam isn't that kinda of dude. He may like her but doesn't go above and beyond for anyone."

Santana shook her head. "I dunno, did you see Cede's ass in that dress? I might have to agree with Guppy Lips Jr. over here."

Stacey laughed, looking out the door window. "Oh, there's Jesse; who wants to help me piss Rachel off?"

Santana's hand flew up. "Me! I wanna piss off the hobbit just tell me what to do."

"This place seems really great, and I can see you are making some great friends." Mike praised.

Mercedes nodded. "I am, though I don't know where they went. Being here is giving me what I didn't have back home."

Mike nodded. "I see that." As the music started up, he extended his hand. "Come dance with me. When in Rome, right?"

She smiled. "Yeah, when in Rome."

Mercedes let Mike lead her to the dancefloor and wrapped her arms around his neck as they began to dance. "So, how are things at your studio?"

"It's going well. My parents once again tried to bribe me to go back to Dad's practice, but my heart is teaching people to dance; money can't top the feeling I feel when someone gets it for the first time."

Mercedes smiled. "I love hearing you talk about dancing; it's like seeing a part of you that not many get to see."

"Yeah, well, you are the only family that thinks that way. So tell me, which of the guys here is someone you are interested in? I can even make them jealous if you want." He teased her.

Mercedes shook her head. "It's not necessary. I mean, there isn't a guy, not one that I could ever seriously date."

"Why not?" Mike asked as he turned her.

"Yeah, why not?" Came from behind her, and she froze seeing Sam standing beside her and Mike.

Her eyes traveled from his dark blue jeans, buttoned-down shirt, and dark blue blazer to his eyes. He had a smirk on his face as if he were challenging her.

"Inquiring minds would like to know Ms. Jones…"

Mercedes shook out of her thoughts and shook her head. "He's a womanizer; the man is so busy counting the notches on his bed that he never takes the time to get to know someone. That's not the kind of man who I want to date."

"You didn't feel that way when you first arrived in town. No, you seemed very much into that type of guy." Sam teased.

Mercedes rolled her eyes as he continued. "Aren't you going to introduce me to your date?"

Mike stepped forth, "Mike Chang."

Sam smiled, taking his hand. "Sam Evans."

"Ah, so you are the one teaching Cam to ride a horse. He thinks very highly of you." Mike said with a smile.

"Cameron is a good kid, very helpful. You should be proud of him."

"I am." Mike smiled.

Sam cleared his throat. "Well, I was going to ask if I could cut in, but I don't want to interrupt."

Mike shrugged. "Actually, I promised Quinn a dance." He said, looking over to where Quinn was standing alone. "Have fun, you two."

Sam nodded as Mike walked away; he moved to pull Mercedes close.

She lifted his hand to her waist when it fell dangerously low on her ass. "One dance, and then you will go to your fan club."

"Jealousy sure does look sexy on you." He said, lifting her thigh to wrap around his hip as he ground into her.

"Jealous? Of who? I had you, remember?"

"Oh I remember. The screams, the moans." He moved his lips to her ear. "The whimper you make when I do this." He nipped right below her ear, bringing a whimper from her lips.

"Sam, you can't do that here!" She hissed, stepping back, as all eyes were on her and Sam.

"Why not?" He asked, pulling her closer.

"Everyone is staring."

She tried to pull away from him, but he pulled her back.

"Let 'em stare. I don't care."

Mercedes sighed, relaxing against him. "I don't understand you. You act like you are above relationships and all that, yet you are dancing with me in front of everyone."

"What does dancing with you and relationships have to do with each other? Maybe I just like to dance."

Mercedes laughed, shaking her head. "Please, Stacey said you hated these things, and yet here you are. Is this all so I will have sex with you again?"

"Didn't you hear? I don't go back for seconds; that's how people get attached.

Mercedes looked down to see there wasn't even a breath between them. "You seem pretty attached to me."

"Don't flatter yourself, baby girl. I like teasing you, yeah, but I can walk away whenever I want."

"Really?" Mercedes stared at him for a moment, "So if I told you I wanted to get out of here, you'd turn me down?"

"You are here with a date; does it matter?"

Mercedes looked over to Mike and laughed, shaking her head. "Is that what this is about? You coming over here because you were jealous of Mike?"

"No…but is he Cameron's dad? There is a resemblance."

Mercedes let Sam spin her; then she held him close as he brought her back. "They look alike because Mike is his Uncle. He's not my boyfriend or Cam's dad."

"Oh, ok, good because that makes what he and Quinn are doing seem less creepy, still scandalous though."

Mercedes looked over to find Mike and Quinn in a corner making out. "Wow…they both move very fast."

Sam laughed. "I am pretty sure it's the wine; they aren't the only ones."

Mercedes looked around, and Sam was right; the women who weren't staring at her were in their own world. "Oh wow…is this how you'll get down here?"

Sam rolled his eyes. "This isn't even the great stuff. We have some of the best wine around."

"I mean, it's good, but…the best?" She shrugged.

"Oh? You don't believe me?"

As the song changed, Sam smirked, pulling her to him. "Follow me."

"I dunno." Mercedes said, looking around.

"Come on, what can you lose? Unless you are scared?"

Mercedes shook her head. "I am not scared of you, Sam Evans. Trust that."

"Good," Sam smirked, holding his hand out. "Since you aren't scared, then I guess the question is. Do you trust me?"
