Becoming a king of a country I conquered years ago due to the affection of the former princess (now Queen) is not what I had envisioned out of my life, but stuff happens.

Lots of stuff at that considering I wasn't just a husband. I was also a father. Crymaria was, chronologically, the first one to produce a child and... little Hermann 'Manny' was a cute darling at the ripe age of four. Adorable with his white hair and blue eyes, he hardly left his mother's side or Fenrir's in that regard. Cordelia loved the little kid as if he was one of hers and treated Crymaria as the 'older but shier' sister she never thought of having (and wanting).

Isara was next as she birthed twin daughters. Victoria and Elise were merely two at this point, but they were quite rambuctious despite who was their mother. Poor Isara had taken to have them check her lab whenever she wasn't playing with 'dangerous experiments', showing them the wonders that 'they were going to inherit once they were old enough'.

Motherhood had made the usually nervous researcher into someone quite confident and also very wise when it came to handling children. His step-brother was a bit baffled by the circumstance behind our relationship, but was happy to know his sister was being treated nicely and that her nieces were 'going to be quite a handful for me'. And he wasn't lying as the twins were always wanting to sit on my lap when they were visiting. Even when I was dealing with stuff from the throne.

While Cordelia was the last to give birth to a child, our little Francis. Despite the fact Hermann was told he wasn't truly a prince, the boy was always eager to hold his littlest sibling, talking with him for hours while holding him despite the baby not understanding much of what was being told and only reacting happily due to the smiling and the excitement shown from his big brother.

The sight would usually melt people around, and while the court was initially unsure on how to handle this matter, the five years that had gone by had lessened the oddity of the situation and made things appear like a relatively normal royal family.

While the wide public was left unsure on what was going on in that regard, it was quite aware of the monumental efforts taken to allow such a massive influx of migrants to be vetted, given home, recognition and jobs. Gallia wasn't truly as empty as many would expect, but with several laws passed to allow for massive constructions efforts to swiftly solve early housing problems and statal funds to give breathing space for the national industries to expand rapidly and tackle the unemployment played well into the troubles that influenced the United Kingdom as a whole.

The Imperial Collapse had generated a situation that was indeed grim in the material aspect of it through migrants and agitators becoming quite meddlesome at times, but it was also a big opportunity for economic unorthodoxy to be effective in dabbling on national expansion.

New land offered more space to expand cities into sprawling metropolis. The economic undertaking was one filled with many risks and close-calls due to how 'ruthlessly precise' the calculations were, to the point of small mistakes leading to strong reprimands and, at times, even the firing of some officials.

There was no room for error through these five years, and the intense efforts provided a beacon of stability for more people to tag along with. It was intense, it was time-draining and it was energy-depleting, but the hard work paid off big time.

The Ragnite mines were fully operationals, the studies made on the material had allowed for simplified designs to be created to lessen the demand for the material within national borders, while rendering it expensive for those beyond it. All but our allies.

The Kingdom of Fhirald and the Kingdom of Wendia had been two stalwart friends to Gallia. Fhirald through the assistance we provided to Radi Jaeger, the current Regent of the Kingdom, to attain power to secure his nation's independence during the collapse. Wendia was, instead, an unique situation. The Wendish Nobility was pro-democratic and had been waiting to establish a modern constitutional society to push their former territory into the new age.

When the Collapse offered them the chance to break free, they installed Gunther II of Wendia as their monarch but pushed for a constitutional government at the hand of the liberal organizations that had been nurtured during the Imperial Alliance Era.

A government was quickly formed and they produced a constitution around similar lines to the Gallian one. This was a first sign of interest for an alliance, and Wendia opened up to a Treaty of Friendship and then one of Alliance with Fhirald and Gallia.

The so-called 'Entente Cordiale' was a Defensive Alliance in nature, but one with unique exceptions which would turn it into one of 'Aggression' in the eventuality which a 'Pre-emptive strike' was needed to tackle a major threat to all members. Such clause was included in the eventuality it was necessary to strike down a resurgent country from the former Imperial Alliance.

And this circumstance came to be on January 1st.

The Duchy of Lutzen was anomalous in its existence. While it was indeed an old pre-Imperial country, its territorial perimeter was erroneously bigger than it should have been, including lands that was previously Fhiraldish and Wendish. It had kept a relatively neutral stance towards any alignments within the post-Collapse era, seemingly focusing only on its internal growth.

When January 1st of 1940 came, that illusion broke when alarming reports came from various scouts checking the disputed Motze Pass. While it was normal for Lutzish troops to be stanced there from time to time, Wendia confirmed a major build-up and some spies would then add that 'orders were given to begin an offensive within the next week'.

Aerial scouting confirmed the build-up, and while pre-emptive strike was held back for the next two days, efforts were made to prepare for a potential conflict. The National Army was readied as a considerable amount of professional troops were dispatched to man the border, same for Fhirald and Wendia.

When diplomatic envoys were met with 'distractions' as the representatives in Lutzen were being 'busy' for a reason or another. The Allied Military Coordination Team in charge for combined attacks suggested a 'tease' for a potential war.

On January 3rd, three bombing squadrons of 100 planes each would take off from their respective airports from Gallia, followed by four from Wendia and another three from Fhirald. Railways connecting from Lutzen into the pass and other sections with large military formations were destroyed and storage building away from civilian targets were bombed.

On January 4th, the Lutzish Government demanded reparations, but the united foreign corps for the Entente rejected on the claim that there was widespread awareness of their war preparations. Diplomatic talks broke off almost immediately, with the Entente's military already finalizing their pre-emptive strike on the next day.

With spies confirming a planned attack on January 7th, Fhiraldish Armored Divisions led the strike by cutting off the Motze Pass and allowing the Wendish Artillery and Bombers to demolish the encircled forces on their own. Other sections of the Northern border were assaulted, with a slow advance due to the concentration of troops there. It became clear that the Duchy had planned to focus on Wendia, but its plot of using the Motze Pass as a springboard for the campaign had resulted in a major weakness that crippled their offensive capacity.

Confirmation of this came from the Gallian front as the armies deployed successfully cut through the defensive lines established by the Lutzish troops. Their troops was spread thin and relied heavily on defensive positions and fortifications- none of which survived the presence of bombers, helicopters and rocket artillery.

By January 9th, Gallian Tanks were storming the gates of the Duchy's capital and, a few hours later, the 'Free Lutzen Committee', an organization established by the Opposition to the government and the Duchy, declared Lutzen's surrender as the Duke was arrested and the government was sacked.

The 'Treaty of Krakowia' established the conditions of peace after the war:
1- Lutzen was to be made a republic. A constitution was to be enabled and its military capacity limited through it;
2- Lutzen would forfeit lands to the Triple Entente but will be spared from War Reparations;
3- Lutzen would become a 'Secondary Member' to the Entente, with the prospect of being made a Main Member in the time of 3 years.

All conditions were accepted, and while Lutzen was almost halved by the experience, stability was upheld by the lingering 'Entente Military Force in Lutzen' as it represented the military force in charge of guarding the Lutzish borders while also keeping things fine within the country.

Yet, even though this successful campaign proved that the Entente's military readiness was extremely efficient, the idea that Lutzen, a neutral country, had established aggressive plans of expansions was quite perplexing. Some were quick to tie this to the recent collapse of the Imperial Military District which saw various neighboring states carving pieces from it and leaving behind a 'Futurist Society' in charge of its remnants.

The expansion of the Uralvangrad Technocracy with the destruction of the governments of Magnavirsk and Sebasgrad plus the expansion of the Holy Eastern Regency with the fall of Schwartzgrad, the former Imperial Capital, meant that unease was spreading as those years had seen some extreme governments taking over other countries and consolidating their control in their original fiefs.

It was fair to say that... the waiting game was now over, and the 'Age of Resurgence' was now upon the former Empire.
