Kaiju Fighters Ch. 36 Christmas Special Part 1
Gojira rides his bike down the streets of Tokyo. Due to the cold and heavy snow, he had to ditch his usual long coat for a black heavy winter coat. He hates the cold. Always bothered him since that unusual winter storm back on the island when he was still a hatchling.
He could not help but wonder about the decorations all over the city. All those lights and plants were placed everywhere on every building. Even the trees were dressed up with them.
When he stopped at a light, some of the snow had hit the side of his head, causing his sunglasses to fall off and break. The Gojirasaur growls as he turns to where the snow came from and spots a group of kids, most of whom were holding balls made of snow. They all drop the snowballs and point at each other to pin the blame. Gojira just continues down the street to get home.
Gojira finally makes it back to the Base looking forward to getting away from the colorful lights, only to find Varan, gliding from one ledge to another, hanging those lights. The sky demon stops, folds his arm membranes away and shivers for a few moments; probably wishing he was wearing a sweater, despite hating shirts.
The king of kaiju just shakes his head and continues inside.
Within the building was worse with the lights and plants down every hallway.
When he gets to the R & R, he finds that everyone else is there hanging up more lights, plants, and other stuff all around the room. Gojira walks in past Anguirus who is hanging up some plants above the doorway. Manda and Baragon are setting out some small statues of men made of snow and tiny humans with ridiculous hats as well as some deer pulling a sled with a large red man. Moll and Lora are standing around a large evergreen with more of the lights on it, placing several glass orbs on it with Amy helping them by giving them more of the orbs while glancing at some of the colorful boxes at the bottom of the tree. Mosura and King Caesar are at the dining table setting up food on it. Rodan was even helping by attaching long thin paper across the ceiling.
Gojira asks, "What's going on?"
"Something called Christmas," Anguirus grunts as he struggles with plants. One of which is a leaf with red berries. "Ouch!" he cries out as the staplegun got his finger instead of the plant. He loses his balance and nearly tips the latter over. Luckily, Gojira reached out and steadied the latter before moving further into the room. The ankylosaur mumbles a "Thanks!"
"And what's that?"
From where Caesar is setting a plate of cookies on the table, he tells him, "A holiday that humans have been celebrating for hundreds of years."
Mosura walks over to Gojira with a big smile on her face. "I hear it's the most wonderful time of the year. Tomorrow is the one day on Terra that there is peace among everyone. Friends, family, even strangers. Humans have even stopped fighting a war once because of this day.
As Moll accepts an ornament from Amy. "Everything about it is great.
"All the decorations and food," Lora adds.
Rodan lands between Mosura and Gojira. "Don't forget about the presents!"
Manda rolls her eye. "Is that all you think about, Birdbrain?"
"Don't worry about him, sis," Baragon chuckles. "'Sides, don't tell me that's not the one thing you've had on your mind since the human told you about it?" the flustered look on the sea dragon's face was the only answer the earthen guardian needed.
"Okay then," Gojira tells them. "But why are we celebrating it?"
"Well, Agent Miyagi suggested that it would be a good experience for us," Caesar tells him before turning to the doorway just as Gojira does. "Speaking of."
From down the hallway, Kimiko can be heard singing. "Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!" she comes in wearing her regular suit with an added strange red and white hat. The agent shouts "Merry Christmas, everyone!"
"Merry Christmas!" Replies everyone except for Gojira.
Rodan eyes the shopping bags in Kimiko's arms. "Ooh! What do you have there!?" he reaches over to take one of them.
"I don't think so!" she pulls them away from the pterosaur. "If you really want to know what's in theses bags, you'll have to wait until tomorrow."
"Oh, come on! Not even a peek?"
"Nope."
Mosura calls out, "Rodan, will you finish hanging the ribbons?"
"Aye, aye!" he flies back up to the ceiling.
Kimiko now gets a good look at the room, "Wow! I love what you've done with the place."
Before anything else can be said, Liz's voice can be heard. "What were you doing out in the cold?" she comes to the doorway leading a shivering Varan inside. The triphibian has the woman's fur coat wrapped around him. "You go and sit down on the couch, and we'll make you some hot cocoa to warm you up. How's that sound, hun?"
"I-I don't know what that is," Varan admits. "But it sounds nice," and he shuffles over to the nearest seating.
Liz looks around the room. "How on earth could you let that poor man out there without a coat all by his lonesome?"
"There," Anguirus grunts as he gets down the latter. "Liz, how does it look?" he smiles at his handy work.
The woman looks up at the crummy job. But her eyes zoom in on the leaf with berries over the doorway. Liz looks back at her husband with a wide grin.
The spiked kaiju just looks up at her and tilts his head, "Wha—" that was all he was able to get out as Liz grabs him by the collar and pulls him into a deep kiss. When the two broke apart, Anguirus was in a bit of a daze. Liz had promised to take things slow, and he is only used to the quick pecks. But this was more… passionate than what he is used to.
He shakes his head before clearing his throat. "Not, not that I didn't appreciate that, Liz, but, uh, why?"
His wife chuckles and points at the leaf. "That there is a mistletoe, Angy."
That did not answer the kaiju's question.
Moll and Lora were giggling over by the tree. "Whoever stands under it, must share a kiss," they tell him in unison as Lora is covering Amy's eyes who is trying to peek between the fingers.
"You're kidding, right?" Anguirus asks.
Kimiko smiles at the ankylosaur, "They're not. It's tradition big guy. Can't get out of that."
By this point, Rodan has landed near Manda and grins at her. The water guardian's reply was, "Don't even think about it." Then, the pterosaur slumps before flying off.
King Caesar then comments, "That's going to lead to trouble."
Kimiko just laughs saying, "That we can be sure of."
"Well, tradition stinks," Anguirus declares before glancing at his wife to see her smirk. He turns away with a blush before mumbling, "It does have its perks though."
Liz just tells him, "I love you to," then walks over to her daughter. "Hey, sweetie. Why don't we put you to bed? I think it's well past your bedtime," as a response, Amy points over to the colorful boxes. "I know you want to open presents, but if you're not asleep then Santa won't be able to deliver your special gift." At that the little girl gets up and heads out of the room with Liz following.
Liz stops before the door and turns to her husband and whispers, "Did you get it?"
"Get what?" was his only response.
"The special gift?"
"I thought you said that Santa guy was going to get it?"
Liz turns to snap at the spiked kaiju, actually causing him to flinch. Then, the woman takes a deep breath as she really cannot blame him for his ignorance… this time. This is his first Christmas after all. She was just hoping that this would be a special Christmas as their first as a family. "We'll discuss this later," and she follows her daughter out the room. She had hoped to get a few more years of this, but Amy is just going to have to learn the truth early.
Kimiko turns towards the Christmas Tree. "Oh, the tree is beautiful! It's missing something though," the agent sets the bags down to remove a box from them. Opening the box to reveal a glass star. "No Christmas Tree is complete without a Christmas Star on top."
"What's the point?" Gojira tells her. "It's just a piece of glass."
"It's not just a piece of glass!" Kimiko snaps at him. "The Christmas Star represents the wishes and dreams of everyone with the Christmas Spirit," she looks at the star fondly. "This star has been in my family for a long time. Every Christmas Wish I had, I made upon this star. My mom gave it to me to keep the tradition alive."
Mosura asks the human, "If it means so much to your family, why bring it here?"
"Well, I thought since this'll be your guys' first Christmas, what better way to show you how wonderful it is than to share my tradition with yours."
Caesar bows to her, "We are honored to share this tradition and our wishes with you. Rodan!" he calls and the flyer lands right next to him.
"Yes, sir!" Rodan salutes with the hand holding a mistletoe.
The old shisha smiles noticing it. "Have you gotten your kiss?"
Rodan's wings droop at the question. "No!"
"I'm sure you'll get there," he chuckles. "Now, would you kindly put this star on top of the tree?"
"Right away, sir," Rodan snatches the star and takes off.
"Careful!" Kimiko shouts. "It's fragile!"
"Don't worry," he reassures her. "I'm not that clumsy." However! He did not notice the lose ribbon and got caught in it. Causing him to drop the star.
Kimiko screams, "NO!" as it shatters on the floor, along with all the wishes ever made on it.
Rodan slowly hovers back down to her. "Kimiko, I-I'm sorry."
"It's okay," she picks up a few of the pieces and clutches them close to her heart. "It was an accident."
"I still don't see the big deal?" Gojira asks.
Kimiko glares at him. "The big deal? The big deal is that the star is broken!" and her eyes start getting watery.
"It's just a piece of glass."
"It's more than that!" she yells at him. "It represents every wish I've ever made! Every Christmas I've ever spent with my family! All the memories we've shared with each other!" Kimiko is now crying. "And, and it's now in pieces." Gojira takes a step towards her, only for the agent to take a step back. "Just leave me alone, you jerk!" with that, she leaves the room.
Gojira looks around the room and finds that everyone is staring at him. "What?"
"That was rude, Gojira," Mosura tells him. "Even for you."
"So what? it's nothing new."
Caesar approaches him. "This is different, my student. That star obviously meant a lot to Agent Miyagi."
Gojira looked down at the remains of the star and had a look of regret at what he had said for a moment. Then, he turns back to his teacher. "Sorry, Sensei. I don't mean any disrespect, but I don't see how some human holiday has anything to do with me."
"That is the point, Gojira. This holiday is not about you."
"Whatever!" the Alpha kaiju says as he leaves the room.
"Gojira," Mosura calls out. "Where are you going?"
"For a ride," with that said, he left.
The others just stared at the doorway for a moment. Rodan slowly creeps up to Manda and when he is beside her, the pterosaur slowly raises his hand with the mistletoe. Only, to have the sea dragon wave her hand to make the drink in a nearby punchbowl splash into his face.
Varan then asks, "Can, can I get some of that cocoa stuff now?"
