Chapter 3: Husband or CEO?

"Jay, who am I talking to right now? My husband or the head of the company?" -Alex Halstead

He knew he'd be asked that question at some point by his wife, he just didn't expect it to hear it so soon. But now, Alex has asked him that question, which means that he owes her an answer. An answer that she can always expect from him, which would be that she's talking to her husband. She'll always be talking to her husband, as he loves her more than he loves his job as the head of the company. So, she need not worry about that; never in a million years does she need to worry about that, which is precisely what he decided to tell Alex as he finished getting his wife dressed into something sexy for him. "Damn, now I love the sight of this." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that, well aware that he likes the bikini she decided to wear for him as it was the reason why she decided to wear it in the first place. "Why do you think I decided to wear it in the first place?" Alex said, smirking as she went to sit down on the edge of their bed; while Jay walked up to her and just smiled as he placed his hand on the side of her face.

After all, he wanted to make sure that Alex looked at and concentrated on him right now as he spoke to her; as he spoke to her as her husband, which is the only way that he's ever going to talk to her. Under no circumstance will she ever have to worry if she's talking to the head of the company, due to the fact that he doesn't want to talk about work when they're together. Rather, he wants to separate his life as a husband and as a CEO; he wants to be nothing more than a husband at home and the CEO at the office. Then again, he has to wear dual hats at the office as he'll never stop caring and loving for his wife just due to the fact that they're at the office. But, for now, he's nothing more than her husband; especially when he's on leave after they got married. And now that she's dressed, it's time for him to tell Alex that. For him to tell his wife the truth about just what he was right now: he's her husband and nothing more. "Alex, how about you slip over so we can talk?" Alex agreed with her husband, as that's precisely what she wants to do right now.

She wants to talk to her husband, so that they can resolve this question. She wants an answer to the question she posed to her husband, or else it'll stay in her mind until she gets an answer, which is precisely why Jay decided to sit down next to his wife: so that he can provide her with the answer she needs right now. An answer that comes from his heart. "Listen, I know that this is going to be a huge change for the both of us. We were never really together before Vegas…" Alex laughed, before correcting her husband. "Correction, we were never together before Vegas." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, prior to moving his hand to her neck and leaning in to kiss her softly. "I love you." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that, as she loves him too. "I love you too." Jay smiled as Alex told him that she loves him, as he knew that was the truth. He knew that she loves him, because there's just something about the way that they hold each other close that truly makes him happy all the time. But now wasn't the time to think about that.

Rather, it was time for him to speak to his wife about the question at hand: whether she was talking to her husband, or the head of the company. And while he was both of those things, Alex will never have to worry about that dual role because he can separate them for her sake; he can separate them and make sure that he's there for her as her husband when she needs him to be there for her as her husband, which is what he decided to tell his wife right away. "Alex, I want you to listen to me when I say this; okay?" Alex agreed with her husband, being able to see it in his eyes that he needs to tell her something really bad. "Alex, hearing you ask me that question…it just broke my heart. I know we haven't been together that long, but it still broke my heart. To think that you even needed to ask that question, it just isn't something that I ever wanted my wife to have to ask me; but, because of me not talking to you before you needed to ask me that question….it ended up happening." Alex agreed with Jay, as she could see that he hated this question.

It was something that no husband ever wanted to deal with, as he must wish that she already knew the answer to the question; though, that didn't mean that he wasn't going to give Alex an answer…because he was. "However, that doesn't mean that I'm not going to answer it anyways, because I want to answer it and I want to make sure that we're both on the same page when it comes to how things are going to work in our marriage." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, as she already liked the sound of where this was coming. "Alex, I love you; I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart. And because I love you, that means that you can't just have part of me when you need me; when you need to have quality time with me as your husband." Alex agreed with Jay, as what he was saying was making sense to her. "Yeah, I understand that." Smiling as he heard Alex say that, Jay was glad that they were on the same page when it came to who she was dealing with right now. "So, you know that you're dealing with your husband right now?"

Alex agreed, as she was well aware of the fact that she's currently dealing with her husband. "Oh, I most certainly do know that I'm dealing with my husband right now. My sexy husband, who I love and can't wait to enjoy for the rest of my life." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, smirking as he leaned in and kissed the woman he loves softly. "Sorry I woke you up this early." Alex shook her head, as she was more than ok with him having woken her up. "It's ok. I like being awake with you." Jay agreed with his wife as she told him that. "Good, because you're up with me for the rest of your life." Jay said, as he went to give his wife another kiss. That was, until he heard his phone ring. "Don't." Sighing, Jay sat up and saw that it was his brother. "It's my brother." Alex agreed with her husband. "Isn't he coming here today for your birthday celebration this week." Jay shook his head. "I told him I want you in private." Alex agreed with her husband and just smiled as she went to get up. "Sounds good. Talk to him, I'll be downstairs." Jay agreed.

After which, he watched as his gorgeous wife walked out of their room to head downstairs; where she was going to make breakfast for the both of them rather than him, which was the original plan. Something he was more than ready to be mad at his brother about as he answered the phone. "Did you seriously have to call right NOW when I am trying to spend time with my new wife?" Will then realized that. "Shit, I thought you were down in Hawaii for your birthday." Jay sighed. "Well, I am. But, I'm also here with my wife." Will agreed with his brother. "So, listen. I just wanted to…" Jay sighed. "Let me know that you and Jessica had a fight and broke up, now you don't think you can work with her." Will was shocked, as he didn't know how his brother already knew that. "How did you know that?" Jay sighed. "Michael Anderson sent me a warning ahead of them." Michael Anderson being the VP and COO of Halstead Fitness, a subsidiary of Halstead Health & Fitness; the subsidiary which Will is the President and Deputy CEO of. "Seriously? Already?"

Jay agreed with his brother, as he always knew things right when they happened. "Will, I need to be kept up to date on the operations of the company. It's why I have so many executives on the board, as they all know precisely what I need to know; and even better, they know when I need to know it." Will laughed. "And you need to know it when you're on your honeymoon?" Jay was shocked at the audacity that this man had. "And this is different than you calling me, how?" Will sighed. "Because I'm your brother." Jay shook his head. "No different at all. I'm on my honeymoon idiot! And I don't care what happened between you and Jessica. I hired her because you wanted her at the company, and I am not going to fire her just because you broke up. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen." Will agreed. "I know. I just want to maybe try and move to another office. I was hoping to kid Adam…" Jay stopped him. "Adam Cole stays where he is!" Will was shocked. "What? Why?" Jay sighed. "God, I don't know…he's my brother-in-law!" Will then realized that.

After all, how did he forget that. "Yeah, forgot about that." Jay agreed. "The entire Cole family suite of offices are off limits, just like the one next to my office is off limits. That's either for my PA or Alex is she decides to join the executive team. And I am done talking about this, as this is the last thing I want to be talking about when I'M ON MY HONEYMOON." He said the last part in a raised tone of voice, while hoping to make it clear to his brother just how much he hates the fact that he called him on his honeymoon. "God, no need to yell. And, I'm sorry. Congrats. I'm glad you finally got married. I know you've had your eye on Alex for a while." Jay agreed as he smirked. "And now, she's mine. But listen, I need to go have breakfast with her. So, I'll talk to you another time." Jay said, while ending his call to his brother without another word. After all, he wants to go be with his wife. And now that he's set his phone down, he got up to go be with his wife. "C'mon Jake and Maya. Time to go downstairs." He said, getting his dogs to follow him downstairs.

She decided to start making the batter, at least. She at least wanted that to be ready for Jay, regardless of who ended up cooking them. Hell, maybe they can even make breakfast together, which she was already starting by putting some coffee in the Keurig. That way, it could be brewing by the time Jay was downstairs, which it was. It was already getting ready to brew, which Jay loves as he loves himself some morning coffee; but not as much as he loves him a sexy wife. And that's precisely what he has, a very sexy wife who looks great as she stood at the kitchen sink in her sexy bikini.. "Well, looks like you got everything under control breakfast-wise." Turning her head when she heard Jay say that, Alex shook her head as she finished putting some water in the measuring cup she had in her hand. "No, I'm not making breakfast alone. The least I'm going to do is make breakfast with my husband's help." Jay agreed with Alex, as he loves the sound of them making breakfast with each other. "I love the sound of that." Smiling, Alex agreed with Jay.

After which, she decided to ask him how his conversation with his brother went. "How'd your conversation with Will go?" Jay sighed. "It went okay, and I reminded him that we're on our honeymoon." Alex agreed with her husband, well aware that he wasn't the happiest when it came to the fact that he was disturbing their honeymoon. "Oh, trust me, my family is going to forget that we're on our honeymoon sooner or later." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, prior to making his way over to her and placing his hands on her hips. "I hope it's later." Alex smirked, as she felt the same way. "I hope so too." She said, as she got close to her husband and wrapped her arms around his neck; while he wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled as he leaned in and kissed the woman he loves softly. "I love you." Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that he loves her, as she loves him too. "I love you too, and I'm glad that we're already saying in." Jay laughed. "Well, we might as well if we're already having sex." Alex laughed and agreed.

After all, her husband is incredible in bed; something she decided to tell Jay as she stepped close to him and wrapped her arms around his waist, while also kissing his neck softly. "You're amazing in bed." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, prior to placing his hands on her arms due to the fact that this wife is amazing is bed as well; something he decided to tell her as he turned his head and looked down into her eyes. "You're amazing in bed too, the best I've ever had." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, prior to leaning up and kissing him softly. "Better than Jessica?" Jay was shocked when he heard Alex say that. "How did you know that I had sex with Jessica?" Jessica being another one of the models at the company. "God, she was so happy after you guys had that hookup. She thought that it was the first step to becoming Ms. Jay Halstead." She said, using her funny voice at the end. "God, she was dreaming as I was just using her." Alex looked at Jay as he said that. "Excuse me?" Jay smirked as he placed his hand on her neck.

After which, he stroked his wife's cheek as he leaned in and kissed his gorgeous wife softly. "I did it to try and make you jealous." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, prior to leaning in and kissing the man she loves softly. "Well, it worked. I was very jealous that someone other than me got to run my hands all over your gorgeous body. But now, I'm the only woman who gets to do that for the rest of my life." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, before wrapping his arms around her and leaning in to kiss her softly. "And that's something I love more than anything in the entire world. I love the fact that me and you are forever, and that I get to have such a great woman in bed with me every night." Alex smirked, agreeing with her husband as he told her that; prior to leaning in and kissing him again. "And someday, a family; right?" Jay agreed with Alex, as that was something he wanted more than anything: a family. He wants to be a dad, just not yet. "I promise, I want to be a dad someday; just not yet. Right now, we're newlyweds." Alex agreed.

After all, she isn't ready to be a mom yet either. "And I want you to get used to this new life first. A life where you're on my arm when you accompany me to events, life in a media zone when my dad does stupid things." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, prior to taking a breath as she could tell that was something that was weighing on his mind right now. "You worried for your dad after his latest fall?" Jay sighed as he placed his hands on Alex's sides, as he was scared after his dad's latest fall. "I mean…" Jay sighed, as he didn't even know what to say to that. "Listen, you want me to make us breakfast? I can do it for us before we talk about that." Jay agreed with his wife, as he'd really appreciate that. So, he got close to her and went to kiss her as he leaned in and took things nice and slow with the woman he loves. "I hope you know just how much I appreciate that." Alex agreed with her husband and smiled as she took things nice and slow with her husband. "Go relax outside, I got it." Jay agreed with his wife, doing as he was told.

Alex's POV:
As I watched Jay walk outside so that he could relax before breakfast, I couldn't help but just see just how stressed he was when I mentioned his father's health. It's no secret at the company that his father isn't the same man he was when he founded the company, but I never knew that it was so grave. I mean, not that he said it out loud; I just knew that was the case based on the body language I saw when I mentioned it. I can't help but wonder whether it's a touchy subject with him, or even the family as a whole. Maybe this is something I should talk to some of his friends about, before I decide to bring it up to him. Then again, we did say that we were going to talk about it outside; so that means that we need to talk about it, or do we? You know what? I'll just make us breakfast, then I'll tell him that we don't need to talk about it. That way, he can relax and just take it easy. He doesn't need to worry about it right now. After all, that's what a wife does for her husband; she makes sure that he takes it easy and relaxes when it's what he needs to do.

Hell, maybe we can just stay here instead of going to the beach today. Stay here and take a swim in the pool.

When she told Jay to come inside to have breakfast, she thought she'd at least have a few minutes to get the plates set up; but it turned out that Jay was much faster than she expect. So, rather than have the plates ready when he got here, she was in the midst of getting them ready; well, hers at least. Jay ended up grabbing his own plate to make it. "Thanks for finishing breakfast for us." Alex agreed with her husband, as she was more than happy to finish breakfast for the both of them. "It's fine Jay, I know that you have a lot on your mind right now anyways." Sighing, Jay agreed with his wife as he grabbed his plate and coffee, prior to walking over to the bar. "Yeah, I just sent my brother a text. Told him to check on dad for me. I know his cardiologist was worried before I left." Alex sighed when Jay said that. "Let me guess, obesity?" Jay agreed. "And he recently had a bypass surgery on his heart." Alex was shocked as she heard Jay say that, while he also sat down on the stools and went to start eating.

But what surprised her most, was how Jay just said it so cold. "Jay, that's a huge deal. We're talking double bypass. Do you know how serious that is?" Jay agreed. "Yeah, I do. It's why the board removed him from his ownership and corporate roles. They executive his will ahead of time and gave control to us, but we pay him a monthly dividend of $50,000." Alex was shocked that her husband was talking so easy going about money. "Jay, that's a lot of money to normal people. Sure, I have a family company too, but that was started recently and isn't a generational company like yours. My family company just came into wealth, unlike yours." Jay agreed with his wife as she made her way over to the breakfast table and sat down next to him. "Guess I need to take it easy when it comes to just saying money like that." Alex agreed with her husband, as that was the truth. "Yeah, especially when we're hanging out with my friends. I have normal friends. Like, other models who don't come from money. It's why I work at Halstead."

Jay agreed with his wife. "So you aren't associated with money, when it comes to getting jobs." Alex agreed with her husband. "So much for that." Jay laughed as he heard Alex say that, prior to wrapping his arm around her and bringing her closer to him. "I promise, we're going to make sure that you still get jobs at the company." Alex agreed with Jay, as she had a feeling he was going to say that; though, she did have a question for him. "And you aren't going to get jealous when you see me doing photoshoot with the male models?" Jay smirked as he placed his hand on Alex's leg and stroked her thigh with his thumb. "No, because I know that I'm the one that gets to take off the garments at night. And then, I get to make love to you." Alex agreed with her husband, as that most certainly is the truth: he's the only man that gets to make love to her. And that's something that they both like. "So, I was actually thinking we just stay here at the pool instead of going to the beach. Just take it easy and relax." Jay agreed, smiling at Alex.

After all, it was clear to her now that he wanted the same thing. "Yeah, I was going to mention that. I want to just take it easy and relax with each other, rather than have to worry about the media. Right now, I am your husband and nothing more." Alex agreed with her sexy husband as he said that, prior to leaning in and kissing him softly. "I love you Jay." Jay agreed with Alex, as he loves her too. "I love you too, and I am so glad that we're married. This is precisely what I want in life. I want to be your husband, now and forever." Alex agreed with Jay, as she feels the same way as he does: she wants to be his wife for the rest of her life. "Good, because I plan on holding you to that…by not signing a postnup." Jay agreed with his wife, more than okay with that as he wrapped his arm around her and just went ahead and ate the breakfast she made for them. And he had to say, his wife knows how to cook. "Damn, you know how to cook." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that. "Let me guess, you approve of my pancakes?" Jay agreed, as he certainly does.

Hell, she may as well take over breakfast duties they're so good. "I have the urge to say that you're in charge of breakfast from now on, but that'd be wrong as I'm the husband and I need to take care of my wife." Alex agreed with her husband, well aware that was the case. "I can still cook for us from time to time. Remember, I can do things on my own. I'm not so lazy that I need my husband to do everything for me." Jay agreed with his wife, well aware that was the case. "And I know that." Alex agreed with Jay, smiling as she felt him place his hand on her leg. After which, she placed her hand on top of his and just smiled as she stroke it with her thumb this morning. She then leaned in and smiled as she proceeded to kiss the man she loves once more. The man who owns her heart, now and forever. "Forever." Jay agreed with his wife, as that's precisely how long he wants to be with her: forever. "Forever." Taking things slow with each other, Jay, and Alex both smiled as they concentrated on each other for a moment.

However, they also had to eat so that they could get in the pool. "We can do that in the pool." Jay agreed, as they were going to have a nice make out in the pool. "Correction, we will be doing that in the pool." Alex smirked, as she loves the sound of that. "I love the sound of that." Jay agreed with his wife, smiling as they both went back to eating breakfast together this morning ahead of their swim.
