Oni Arc Feeling Down like Bad

Joan is panting a little hard because of the combat training class with Professor Goodwitch as the teacher, and her opponent is a mean girl named Carly who is strong to lift a heavy mace with one arm and known to being a jerk as well.

"Come on, bitch. I thought you were supposed to be strong." Carly mocked.

"Oh, did that little blow on your shoulder somehow knocked out the memory? Weird, that only happen if you're hit, like, in the head." Joan mocked back with a cute wink.

That wink only seems to make Carly angry as she charges forward to make that horned freak pay for saying that she is a dumb bitch, swinging her mace against Joan's black spiked club forcing her on the defense.

But Joan tries her best to think of a way to get out of this situation then begins to see the pattern in Carly's strikes, waiting for the right time to make her move and pushes Carly a few feet back.

"Ha! I barely felt that push." Carly laughed in a mocking tone.

"(That's exactly the point.)" Joan thought secretly smiled.

Carly charges in again with her mace lifted high for another hard attack though Joan was able to swing her club at just the right time to swing a little sooner than Carly's swing, the club made contact to the wrist that forces the hand to let go of the mace.

"Shit!" Carly cursed.

Joan knew this would be her only chance to attack.

But her opening to attack was short-lived when Cary threw in one kick in the stomach making her gasp in a bit of pain and the brown-haired girl grabs Joan by the head and slams her face down to the floor at least four times hard.

Carly went back to get her mace and ready to beat down on the girl until Glynda called out.

"That's enough, Carly Winchester." Glynda said, making the armored girl stop as the teacher gestures to the holographic screen above them.

The screen shows Carly and Joan on each side with Joan's side having a bar that is almost empty with a small red bar in it, this looks more like a video game with one of the characters being low on the health bar.

"Oh, she almost had her." Pyrrha whispered, feeling like Joan could've won this fight.

"Students, as you can see, Ms. Arc's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament-styled duel, this would indicate that Joan is no longer fit for battle, and that the official may call the match." Glynda explained about the purpose of this training exercise.

Glynda let out a sigh and looks over to Joan getting herself to sit up and groans rubbing her stomach a little.

"Ms. Arc, it's been weeks now. Please try to refer to your Scroll during combat. Gauging your Aura will help you decide when it's appropriate to attack, or when it is better to move to a more... defensive strategy. We wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a Beowolf, now, would we?" Glynda scolded softly.

"Speak for yourself…" Carly chuckled as she walks away.

"But your combat skills are improving little by little, you should be proud of that." Glynda said closely to her.

Joan was a little surprised to hear that Glynda just said something nice to her right now even though she lost. Teachers sure are weird like that.

"Remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away! It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale!" Glynda announced to the students.

Yang, Nora, Luna Luna, Annelotte, and others are very excited about the Vytal Festival coming soon meaning they will have to train the hardest they can in order to face some other strong women.

Oscar is more nervous than excited because he will be facing more strong female warriors with strength and speed and experience that he doesn't have yet, he fears it's gonna take him a lifetime to match up to any of them though he's grateful to have others by his side to help.

But then Oscar saw that Joan is still looking sad from the loss of her battle with Carly as Pyrrha notice this too.

(Lunchtime)

"So! There we were, in the middle of the night..." Nora said, starting to tell the story of her and Iroha's adventure to her friends while few of them aren't paying any attention to this.

"It was day…" Iroha corrected.

"We were surrounded by Ursai..." Nora mentioned.

"They were Beowolves." Iroha corrected again while holding a cup of tea mix in with some coffee.

"Dozens of them!" Nora proclaimed as she stands up.

Joan does her best to listen to the story though looks a bit sad and poking her food with a fork for a while.

"Two of them." Iroha stated.

"But they were no match... And in the end, Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!" Nora finished her story.

"Did you guys really do all of that or was it just a dream?" Emerald asked, thinking all of that stuff Nora just said seems to be too good to be true.

"A dream. Honestly, she's been having this recurring dream for nearly a month now." Iroha said, feeling a bit worried for her childhood friend.

"But how did you even know what dream she's been having?" Mirim asked curiously.

"I've always been able to tell, even when she was whispering very softly during her sleep." Iroha answered with a calm expression before drinking her tea.

"With Nora now finish with her story, I believe we should turn our attention to our troubled thought friend." Annelotte gestured to Joan.

"Huh?" Joan is surprised that Annelotte is showing some concern for her despite not being on the same time.

"Joan, are you alright?" Pyrrha asked.

"Huh, sure, girl! I'm totally fine, why, like, wouldn't I be?" Joan tried to act cool and calm as she eats her lunch, but that doesn't seem to fool them.

"It's just that you seem a little... not okay..." Ruby pointed out softly.

"And don't even try to say that you're fine because we can already see right through you." Oscar said.

Joan curses in her head that Oscar says that everyone can see through her lie and looks around to see that they know her better even though they only known each other for the month.

"Joan, you know you can always tell us what is bothering you and the friends you have will also be there for you just as God watching over us from Heaven." Sigui stated while praying to God.

"What she said, just be honest or else there will be consequence." Irma warned.

"Yeah, you can always tell us that Carly is being a bully to you." Laila nodded.

"Oh man, I can't really keep my cool around you guys, can I?" Joan sighed.

"That Carly girl is no good, with the stuff she has done to you." Yang said.

They remember the few times when Carly would bully Joan like she was walking in the hallway while carrying a few books, and Carly just knocks her arm into her own causing the books to fall onto the floor.

The other time when Joan was about to walk through the doorway of the classroom, Carly rushes past the horned girl and pressed a button on the concealed spiked club causing it to extend and getting Joan to stop and fall backwards.

The third time Carly bullied Joan was when they were in the locker room on the first day of being at Beacon, and the girl just picked Joan at random into a locker though it was hard to close the door because of Joan's big breasts until she finally closes the door and launch the rocket locker into the air.

"She's lucky I didn't fly that far from the school." Joan pouted.

"Joan, you know if you ever need help, you can just ask." Pyrrha stated.

"Ooooh! We'll break his legs!" Nora suggested with a scary grin.

"I think there are less painful way to teach the bully a lesson." Oscar said nervously, not liking the way Nora looks, liking the idea of breaking legs.

"Besides, Carly is just prideful and that is something we should aim for." Oscar explained.

"Like how exactly?" Weiss asked.

"Ow! That hurts!" A girl cried.

This got the groups to turn their attentions toward another table where Carly and her team are having a good time insulting a girl with bunny ears, pulling on one of them making the bunny girl cry.

"Please stop…" The girl begged.

"I told you they were real." Carly laughed mockery.

"What a freak." One teammate commented laughing.

"I can't believe people would still treat Faunus like that. Everyone back in our village behaves better and treats each other like family. Right, Oscar?" Mirim angered at the bullies.

But Oscar didn't answer which confuses the red armored girl as she turns to her left only to find that Oscar is not here.

"Huh, where did he go?" Mirim asked.

"He went over to the bullies." Irma answered with a straight face.

Mirim gasps upon hearing this and looks over to see that Oscar has indeed gone over to the other table and they don't even notice him coming.

Oscar lifts his weapon cane up and threw it down so hard that it smacks the hand off the bunny ear and makes Carly groan in serious pain.

"What the shit?!" Carly angered and saw Oscar standing right in front of her.

"Is this really how you want to make yourself known?" Oscar asked with his eyes looking serious and angry at the same time.

"The fuck do you want?" Carly asked.

"You're here to become a Huntress, and yet you're being a bully to someone who hasn't done anything wrong to you." Oscar said firmly, moving over to stand in front of the bunny girl.

"Oh, she did something wrong alright… For being an animal freak!" Carly insulted at the bunny girl.

But then Oscar strikes her again, only this time it was on the head.

"It looks like you will never be able to get anywhere in life with that kind of shitty attitude." Oscar stated, feeling very disappointed in this girl.

"Faunus are living beings just like us, we share the same world and we're working together to fight the Grimms every day and yet you don't think Faunus are our equals." Oscar scolded.

"Of course, they don't! Those fucking animals are nothing but a waste of space for the real pros like me, they should be grateful that they're even allow to be in the same building as us." Carly stated with a glare at Oscar.

"Oh, then you definitely don't have a bright future with some stupid thinking like that." Echidna chuckled, suddenly appearing right behind Carly and talking to her ear.

Carly suddenly felt a weird jolt of fear from her body and jump a little then turned around to see Echidna sitting on the table with her knees, and her eyes are feeling scary from just looking at them.

"I notice there was a commotion going on here and decided to check it out myself, and I've found myself students mistreating their peers for something that is stupid and nonsense." Echidna explained.

"Hey, I was just" But Carly's sentence was cut off when Echidna moved again to her right with a blade on her neck.

"Not another word from your fucking mouth. You and your team will be going to detention for a week, and I will make sure you girls learn your lessons to treat others with respect." Echidna ordered with a serious glare.

Carly and her team could feel their spines suddenly getting cold, they quickly move away from the scary teacher and make their way to detention, knowing full well that if they try anything against her, then they might not even be in this school anymore.

"Thank you, Professor Echidna." Oscar thanked.

"You're welcome, but you can just call me Echidna when we're not in class." Echidna smiled.

"Are you feeling okay, Velvet?" Echidna asked the bunny girl.

"Y-Yes, I'm okay. Thanks to him." The girl, revealed her name to be Velvet, nodded and blushes when she looks at Oscar.

Velvet has long, brown hair and brown eyes. She also has a pair of brown rabbit ears, identifying her as a Faunus. She wears the Beacon Academy uniform, which consists of a maroon blazer with golden brown lining and twin buttons over a brown button-up vest and white blouse with pleated looking neckline and a red ribbon tied around her black-lined collar. She also wears the traditional red checked with black stripes with golden brown outlining alongside white tulle. She also wears a pair of black tights accompanied by a pair of brown lace-up wedged sole boots. Breasts size: FF-cup.

"Velvet, a lovely name for a rabbit-Faunus." Oscar complimented.

"Th-Thank you, and it's an h-honor to meet the first male student of Beacon Academy!" Velvet nodded.

"Well, you should be able to eat your lunch in peace now." Oscar informed.

"Yeah! Again, thank you so much for standing up for me. Not a lot of people would do that for a mere Faunus." Velvet said.

"Well, that's because you haven't met the right people yet, and you still have your team." Oscar believed her team do care for her as well.

"That's true, Coco can be very worried if she sees me looking sad or if something is bothering me. My other two teammates are like that as well, and I'm grateful to have them." Velvet smiled.

"Well, I better get going. I hope to see you around, Oscar." Velvet walked away.

"Wow, did you all, like, see how Oscar just stood up to Carly?" Joan asked shock to her friends.

"Yeah, he was so brave…" Ruby nodded, feeling like she's in a trance.

"I'll admit that he does have a big heart." Weiss looked away. "Even if it's for a Faunus." She muttered to herself.

"I'm glad to see that someone did something about Carly." Blake said.

"I take it Oscar was always like this back home?" Yang asked Mirim.

"Yeah, he's always been the kind of guy who cares for others above himself and can be very honest most of the time, but he is the world's worst liar." Mirim explained with a little laugh.

"(Very honest, huh?)" Joan thought looked down at her food in deep thought.

(Nighttime, Rooftop of Dormitory)

Joan is seen pacing in circles on the rooftop of the students' dormitory waiting for two people she called for to show up, but she is feeling very nervous about doing this, her heart is aching a bit, and she feels like she'd rather jump off this rooftop right now.

"(Maybe I should call them and say I'm somewhere else right now!)" Joan thought tried to think of a good excuse to leave.

"Joan! We're here!" Pyrrha called out.

Well, that ruined her plan.

"Hey guys, glad you could make it." Joan smiled as she turned to see both Pyrrha and Oscar here.

"So, was there something you needed to talk with us about?" Oscar asked.

"I'm quite surprise you suggest coming to the rooftop, I was actually going to you to come up here." Pyrrha mentioned.

"Cool, cool…" Joan hesitated a little, but she knew that she has to do this.

"So, you guys know that you have to go through some lower combat school before moving up to the higher ones like Beacon." Joan said.

"Yeah, everyone knows that. Although, I didn't go because I didn't have my aura until later and just came here, crazy luck if you ask me." Oscar commented.

"Well, I believe it was fate that brought you here." Pyrrha smiled.

"Does that include letting someone like me be here, even though I shouldn't?" Joan asked, looking sad.

"What? Joan, what do you mean? You earned your place here." Pyrrha puzzled of what her partner is talking about.

"Accept I didn't… I lied." Joan revealed, shocking the two.

"I didn't go to any combat school; I didn't earn any spot! I fucking lied! I got my hands on, like, some fake papers that could get me in and… I lied." Joan confessed.

"Whoa…!" Oscar shocked.

"But why would you do that?" Pyrrha asked.

"Because this is, like, what I wanted to do! What I wanted to be after I heard lots of stories about my family like my mom and all the way back to my great-great grandma! I wanted to be like them so badly that I tried really hard, sure I got the super strength which isn't, like, even my Semblance! But even after all of that… I was never good enough." Joan confessed with tears starting to come out and fell on her knees.

Oscar and Pyrrha look at each other for a moment, taking in what Joan just told them and nodded knowing what they have to do for their friend.
