"What do I owe you?"

"C'mon, you know I don't charge family."

"And we both know that's not a great business strategy."

Survey and Spam had a good laugh, the brothers were chilling in Survey's room, Survey on his bed, Spam in the seat of honour before Survey's desktop, once again looking over a report Survey had compiled.

"I heard Popup offered to hire you." Survey commented idly as he rummaged through a few paper documents he had spread out over his mattress, picking up one, looking it over before letting it fall back down as he reached for another. No organization, no rhyme or reason, only a controlled chaos that Survey somehow thrived in.

"They did…" Spam replied slowly.

"Aaaand?" Survey hummed curiously as he paused his fiddling to prop his chin up onto his palm, looking over at the smaller Addison seated at his desk.

"And what?" Spam shot back without turning to his brother. Work would always be a touchy subject between the siblings, no matter how softly the subject was approached. Spam thought about shutting the conversation down, but Survey kept on going in his silence.

"It's a good opportunity you know…" Survey spoke, not in any coaxing way, just casually as he continued to rummage through his papers; "Most people would kill for this sort of opportunity."

"Yea well, I think we've established that I'm not like most Addisons." The words came out far sharper than Spam intended, laced with an ugly bitterness that plunged the room into silence for an uncomfortably long time. Spam stopped tying, Survey stopped leafing through his papers save for setting the one in his hand back down.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry…"

The two brothers spoke at the same time, before a soft bout of laughter rolled off both of their tongues.

Tensions lifted.

"You're right." Spam sighed as he turned back to Survey's computer, small hands flying across the keyboard as he worked; "Popup's offering me a golden opportunity and… It'd be stupid of me to pass it up but…"

"It feels wrong?"

"Yea…"

Survey nodded silently in thought… He could get why Spam was so reluctant to just take the offer, Addisons were meant to be… Well, self made. Sure, support from friends and family was one thing, but just…

What Popup was offering was simultaneously a great gesture of faith and unfathomable show of willingness to help Spam… Popup trusted Spam to work hard and do the company well, which he undoubtedly would! Between all the siblings there was little doubt between them that Spam worked hard, worked the hardest, he'd be a benefit to any employer who managed to snatch him up, Popup knew that, everyone knew that.

But what Popup was offering was also a huge slap to the face... Which Survey was sure Popup didn't mean it to be! Popup was trying to be a good sibling, helping out a flockmate, helping out Spam, but to anyone else, offering to simply hire a family member was nepotism at its finest.

If anyone could just look past Spam's hue, they would find him more than capable of anything he set his mind to… But it always seemed that no one was ever able to get past Spam's colour… Or lack of.

Popup knew that… Knew that people judged Spam for his lack of colour… But Spam was brilliant in his own right.

Brilliant enough to make his own way in the world if people would just stop focusing on his colour…

"Popup won't take offence if you reject him, you know." Survey mused as he hauled himself up to sit, legs hanging over the side of the bed, stretching his arms above his head with a groan as something popped in his back.

"Yea, I know." Spam sighed as he tapped tapped tapped away on the keyboard briefly.

"It'd be great experience, and It would open so many doors for me and, I've met the staff, they all seem really cool… It's just…"

"Too big of a hand out." Survey finished for his brother, to which Spam laughed at.

"Not even… I ran my numbers the day Popup offered me the position, I'd be making less money working a nine to five job than if I just stuck to freelance."

"... Are you serious?" Survey asked after a very lengthy pause.

"Yep." Spam chimed as he turned to his brother with a sheepish smile.

"It's kinda funny really." Spam hummed as he turned back to the computer before him.

"I tried making myself out to be one of those, 'one size fits all' yes that's a short joke, yes you can laugh." Survey snickered politely.

"But, no one would take me seriously when I did that. So I stopped putting myself out there for people to find and I've just started looking for people who need something done." Spam rambled as he typed in a few last things for Survey's summary before spinning in the chair and hopping out.

"Summary is spick and span." He declared lightly, "Now I believe you owe me a milkshake…"

Spam paused upon seeing the perplexed look on his brother's face.

"Spam-I-am…" Survey began slowly.

"Have I told you that you are brilliant?"

"Only eight times this week."
