Chapter 8.

This is the eight chapter. Hope you enjoy it.

Mark followed Gamora with Quill behind him down the orange and white corridor as they put his plan into motion. He saw bald man with a device on his right forehead walked past him, so he looked over his left shoulder to see Quill bump into the man. "Apologies." The man spoke. "No problem" Quill waved if off as Mark and the others kept walking. "Go." Gamora ordered, and Mantis and Drax went towards the yellow circular elevator and the doors closed. After that, Gamora led them to the records section. When they arrived at the end of the corridor, Gamora looked past the end of the wall. "That manager should have access to the records. If the passkey is here, she can get it for us." Gamora explained, as Mark stepped rightwards to, past her legs, to see an orange-red sinned women dressed in white with black hair touching a keyboard on an orange-grey desk. "All right. I'll handle this one." Quill spoke confidently. "How?" Gamora asked, as Mark turned around to see look upwards at Quill. "Pure Star-Lord charm. I'm excited for you that you get to see this again for the first time." Quill answered, pointing at her with his left index finger. "Seriously, Quill. When has that ever worked?" Mark asked as he rolled his eyes. Quill didn't pay any attention to that question as he stepped out from behind the wall and walked over to the desk.

"Hi, Yura." Quill greeted. "Ura." The women corrected. "Ura." Quill responded. "Hi." Ura replied. "Hi, my name's Patrick Swayze." Quill spoke, which made Mark snicker in amusement. "I've been noticing you for quite a while, and the way that you smile to yourself, when you think nobody is looking, it makes my everyday a bit brighter." Quill continued, as Gamora quickly stepped out towards them. Mark stepped out from behind to wall with Nebula, being on her right. "We need your hand. And it's your choice whether it's on your body OR NOT!" Gamora said violently, while pointing her gun in her left hand out at Ura. Mark knew it was a bit too much, but this was the new/old Gamora, so he hadn't been expecting much nicer behaviour. "What are you going?" Quill asked, his eyes widening. "She was never gonna fall for that." Gamora said back, forcing Ura to bend her head down to her desk. "Dude, she was totally into me, man!" Quill complained. "I kind of thought you were a douchebag." Ura replied. "Oh, come on." Quill groaned. "Told you so, Quill." Mark spoke from where he was, stating that he was right. "We need a file." Gamora demanded. "What file?" Ura asked. "89P13." Mark and Nebula answered together. "Could that be something?" Nebula asked. "No." Ura answered. "Then your use to us is over." Gamora said before she readied her gun. "Wait! Wait, wait, wait, wait!" Quill cried frantically. "Sounds like a species tag." Ura suggested, before Gamora moved her head off the desk and pushed her a few feet backwards. "Show us!" She ordered, before Ura led them away from her desk into the massive half circular chamber, the small balcony they were on dwarfed by the wall of small circles connected to each other by metal beams. Ura began the work. "Whoa. What is all this?" Gamora asked. "Species patented over the years using OrgoCorp tech. Every species OrgoCorp has created has its own individual file." Ura answered, as she continued working. Mark, in front of (and leftwards) Nebula, looked at all of the files, his mind beginning to wonder. OrgoCorp apparently created species, patented them and viewed them as factory produce. Were they more Raccoons like Rocket? And maybe he have been enhanced/transferred/created with OrgoCorp tech?! His mind kept asking those questions again and again before he purged them out and got back in the now, as he looked rightwards and upwards at the others.

"I am so sorry about this. Listen to me, this is not the kind of thing we do." Quill spoke to Ura. "Oh, please! Stop it with the suite jabs!" Gamora snapped back. "Old you would never have done this. You had a purpose higher than yourself. A calling to help people. That's why you left Thanos and formed the Guardians." Quill replied, Mark knowing he was saying the wrong stuff, as she technically is 'old Gamora' from the past, before she met him/them. "Except, I didn't form the Guardians." Gamora said back, turning to face Quill, pointing her gun at him. "And I barely left Thanos. Whoever it was that you were in love with, it was me. It sounds more like her." Gamora added, pointing at Nebula. "Her?/What?" Quill And Nebula asked at the same time, Mark watching all this with a sudden laugh. "That's ridiculous! Don't even…/ Do not bring me into this." They spoke both, Mark snicker a bit, as he saw Quill star at Nebula silently for a few seconds before she looked at him. "Knock it off!" She snapped at him. "What?" Quill asked back. "Don't look at me like a lost puppy needing a soft place to lie down." She replied. "I didn't say anything!" Quill said back before he looked forwards. "I just never noticed how black your eyes were." Quill muttered, which made Mark snicker again as Nebula looked at him again. "They were replaced by my father as a method of torture." Nebula replied, which silenced Mark. "He-he picked a pretty set." Quill said back. "There. That's the file for 89P13." Ura announced, as Mark looked forwards upwards to watch the metal beams move and transport a circular shaped object down to the yellow tube, which it then went down. "Heads up, heads up!" Gamora announced, Mark watching the ball roll down the tube and fell into a tank of yellow slime. "Ugh." Gamora added, while Mark raised an eyebrow in disgust. "Okay." Quill said softly before he grabbed the ball with his right hand and pulled it out of the slime, creating a gross squishing noise as he pulled it out of the tank, Mark seeing it was a beige rock shaped with a metal casing with traces of slime on it, with "89P13" written on it. "What?" Quill muttered, before suddenly alarms began blaring, showring the room in red light when it blared.

"Looks like our cover's blown. Let's get going." Mark spoke nervously, as he turned around and started walking away as Gamora led Ura away from the desk. "Walk!" She ordered, as Mark stepped up to Gamora's right. Then he heard the sounds of footsteps on either side of the room, and a second later, he looked leftwards and saw OrgoCorp security guards in black uniforms heading their way through the white pillars, and when he looked rightwards as he stopped in his tracks, he saw more guards heading over to them. "What are gonna do?" Nebula asked, as they were being surrounded by guards. "I got a plan." Gamora spoke, which made Mark glad as he was unsure what to do. "What is it?" Quill asked nervously. Gamora then shot the lead guard heading towards them, just as he was telling them to come with him. Gamora then grabbed Ura with her right arm and held he against her body and her gun pointed at her head. "Everybody, lower your weapons or I blow this woman's brains out!" She ordered sternly, as Mark stepped in between her and Nebula to Quill's right and held out his paw-hands at the guards, his arms outstretched, pointing at the two guards in his line of sight between the white pillar. "That's the plan?" Quill asked incredulously. "At least someone has a plan, Quill!" Mark retorted. "LOWER YOUR WEAPONS!" Ura yelled out a few seconds later, her hands up and shaking. Quill now on Mark's right. The guards then lowered their weapons, then they began stepping towards the elevator. "Let's kill that one that looks like a carrot to show we mean business." Gamora suggested, Mark looking over his left shoulder to see who Gamora was referring to and he did look like a carrot (with orange wrinkly skin and short green spikey hair), which made him grin slightly as the guy's eyes widening. "God, past Gamora's just mean!" Quill complained. "Was she always like that?" Mark asked hushed to Nebula, as they came beyond the pillars, as Mark turned leftwards to face the guards who were where they'd just been, his arms still outstretched. "Yes, and yet I was the bad guy. We are not killing anyone!" Nebula replied. "Back off!" Gamora barked at the guards. Mark moved behind Nebula and stepped into the elevator. "Groot, bring the Bowie over to us. Now." Nebula ordered into her comms as she stepped into the elevator on Mark's right and the yellow doors closed.

The music being played in the elevator was the only sound for a few seconds before Quill spoke. "I'm so sorry about this, Ura." He spoke. "Oh, please." Gamora replied. "We're here to save the life of our friend, that is all. We paid her to help us get in and get out. You'd think that'd mean, 'Oh, I'm gonna hep you do it in a way that no one knows it's happening.' But, no, what she means is, 'I'm gonna shoot people. Threaten people's lives.'" Quill continued. "Shut up!" Gamora ordered, but Quill kept talking, which bored Mark out. "And I know you're probably asking, why would I trust her? Well, that's a good question. The answer is, we used to be in love. Yeah, she was my girlfriend, only she doesn't remember it, because it wasn't her. Because her dad threw her off a magic cliff and she died and then I lost my temper and caused half the universe to turn to dust. Then she came back, out of the past. And there she is. Everyone else who died in the past came back, not her. Why? Was it the magic cliff? I don't know. I'm not some fricking Infinity Stone scientist. Just some dumbass Earth dude who met a girl, fell in love, that girl died, and then came back a total dick." Quill added on, Mark glad he'd finally stopped talking. "He left out some important information, but that is the gist of it." Nebula spoke, Mark nodding his head in agreement. Then the elevator stopped and the doors opened. Quill immediately fired his gun, set to knockout, (in his right hand) at the first Sentry who was walking by the elevator, before he led the way out, Mark on his right, paw-blasting from both front paws at the Guards around them, also set to knockout. "Get to the security hub!" Nebula ordered. "Okay!" Gamora replied, as she led Ura, still at gunpoint, Mark walking with them, on their right, his body facing away from them (rightwards as they walked), keeping an eye out for any guards as they made their way to the security chamber. "Everybody, down on the floor, or we blow your brains out!" Gamora ordered as they entered, Mark just behind her and Ura's right, the personnel in the white chamber with several yellow screens around began running. "Hey, hey, hey, we don't want any…" A woman worker, dressed in white with yellow skin, began saying with her hands held up, stepping away from her console. Gamora then shot her in the right upper leg, which made her fall to the floor, screaming loudly. "Come on! Would you please stop doing that!?" Quill asked loudly, Mark in between him and Gamora. "At least she didn't kill her, Quill." Mark pointed out, as Gamora forced Ura against the wall, the screaming yellow woman being dragged into the corner by one of her coworkers.

Mark heard sounds of blasting coming from outside the chamber, turned around leftwards to see Drax and Nebula lying injured on the floor, Mantis with Drax, Sentries surrounding them. "Get on the ground and show me your hands now." He heard the Sentry they'd talked with earlier order, and a few seconds later, Mantis and Nebula held up their hands. He looked upwards/rightwards at Quill, who was also looking at them, before he looked leftwards/downwards at him, and they both nodded. Then they both walked over to Ura. "Ura?" Quill asked as they stepped up to her. "Please listen to us. We need to get out of here with that file, to save my buddy's life." Mark spoke, pointing at the file stone in Quill's right hand with his right front paw, an honest look on his face. "If you could get us into the system of those sentries out there, they are good people, like you. I'm certain of it. And if I just had the opportunity to speak to them…" Quill added. "They're corporate shills, you idiots. They're not gonna listen to you." Gamora spoke sharply. "They will listen if I speak to them from my heart." Quill said back, before he focused on Ura again. "Ura. Please." Quill and Mark begged at the same time. Ura stare at Quill for a few seconds, before she stepped over to the nearest console, and began accessing the system. "HEY! Come out now!" Mark heard a loud voice shout out from outside the chamber, looked over his right shoulder to see some Sentries led by a bald guard with yellow eyes, two hairy lines doing up his forehead and over his head, before he and the others started firing at the glass. "Damn it!" Mark heard Gamora say, but her voice was being drowned out by the noises of the firing and cracking glass. "You are in." Ura spoke, as Mark looked over his left shoulder to see her get out of her seat, and Quill stepped in. "Tell them your truth." Ura spoke. "Yeah, I'm not that big of an idiot. I just needed to get into the system." Quill replied as he did his work. A few seconds later, Mark looked forwards again to face outside the cracked glass to see of the Sentries fly up into the air, via Quill gaining control of their suit thrusters, hearing their screams, then saw one of them fly into the bald guard outside, which made him smile a bit. "Told you she was into me." He heard Quill say, probably to Gamora. "Told you it works." He said to Mark was he walked past him, Mark looking rightwards/upwards at him before he rolled his eyes. And with that, they exited the room, walked over to Mantis, Drax and Nebula, who were both injured, Sentries flying all over the place around them. Mark, due to his small size, walking in between Nebula and Gamora, Nebula being helped/carried by Quill, Drax being helped/carried by Mantis and Gamora. They walked over to where Mantis had pointed out was the spaceport, and saw Groot flying the Bowie towards the stairs in front of them, then it set it down with a crash and a thud. At least the ship was damaged or in flames. "I am Groot?" Mark heard Groot ask on Nebula's comms. "Yeah… that looked cool." Nebula answered. In no time at all, they were all onboard, and the ship was piloted out of the spaceport, back into space, despite some Sentries outside tying to stop them, they made it out unscathed.

And that's chapter 8 done. Hope you enjoyed it. Next chapter will be out soon. Please leave a comment/review.

I just want to say these things about when I saw the movie in cinemas in early May (I don't remember much, but I think I can remember some bits): In the opening scene, I thought it strange that out off all of the Baby Raccoons in the cage, the High Evolutionary picked the only one who wasn't facing back, who didn't run away in fear, who stayed where he was. He could have picked any one of them and it turned out to be that one. And I later thought that out of all his subjects, he proved to be smarter than him. Made me think of when in the second movie Ego said to Quill "Out of all my spawn, only you carried the connection to the light."

During the scene with Rocket and those Baby Racoons, (and when he looked at all the other animals) I thought in my head "He couldn't save his friends, BUT HE CAN SAVE THEM!" I was hoping he'd say "I'm a Racoon." And when Lylla was shot, I think I can remember I put my hands on my chest. And when he made the key in the cages, I thought, "His first creation.". And when he said his first work "Hurts", I think I thought, "His first word.". And the scene with him as a baby and the High Evolutionary looking out the window the Turtle scene, I thought "That's where his love of music started or came from" and something along the lines of "That young, he was that smart already" or something like that, can't remember.
