A\N: My third Designated Survivor oneshot but first Emron oneshot. It's a sweet, fluffy Christmas night oneshot. I hope you enjoy my first Emron story, Angels. Stay safe out there, Angels
Washington D.C. is cold, just below freezing, snow covering every outside surface. Inside a large condo in D.C, the Vice President of the United States, Aaron Shore, leans back against the couch, his hand wrapped around a half drunk tumbler of bourbon while he has his arm wrapped around the shoulders of his brunette beauty, Emily Rhodes. sips her wine. The VP uses his free hand to pat his jeans pocket and smiles to himself. He's had the ring for years: he bought it on a whim after the Capitol bombing, like many people did, and forgot about it until a year ago when he found it in the back of a drawer. When he saw the ring in the drawer, he knew he wanted to spend forever with his brunette beauty. He knows it's cliche to propose on Christmas but he knows that the time is right.
Now! His mind yells at him. He unwraps his arm from Emily's shoulder.
Emily Rhodes.
Even thinking of her name sends electric shocks through him. He can't believe that this beautiful woman is his. She always has been his, it just took losing his relationship with Isabel and and becoming the Vice President to make him realize that he needed her in his life and not as a friend. He needed her like he needed air to breathe, he needed her like he needed his legs to walk, for she was attached to his heart and without her he couldn't function properly.
He places his un-drank drink on the coffee table and kisses her hair "I love you." Aaron whispers to her. Emily leans deeper into his side and sighs. "I love you too." She whispers back as she s shoulder and stands up, bringing Emily up with him. He looks into her eyes and kisses her chastely. He cups her face in his hands and stares into her eyes. "I love you, Em." He says quietly, Emily smiles. Aaron clears his throat as he removes his hands from her face.
"Emily Rhodes," Aaron says as he gets the box out of his pocket and lowering himself down on one knee. "I have loved for as long as I can remember and I will keep on loving you until you tell me to stop. I will love you until my very last breath, I will be by your side throughout everything. I will be right beside you for the rest of time, the whole world can be going to hell but I won't go save it unless I save you first because I will always save you before everyone else. So Emily Rhodes, will you marry me and allow me to save you as your husband?" He asks as he looks at Emily who has tears in her eyes.
She nods her head as she gets down on one knee and locks her arms around his neck and kisses him deeply. "Yes, I will marry you." Emily says as she pulls away from Aaron and unwinds her arms from his neck, allowing him to slip the diamond ring onto her finger. He stands up and scoops her up in his arms bridal style and spins them around, their laughter the only noise in the otherwise silent condo.
The security detail posted outside the door all smile to one another. They knew their Vice President would ask Emily Rhodes to marry him sooner or later, it was obvious to everyone in the White House that Aaron Shore loved that girl and would protect her regardless of what it would do to his own career. The head security guard, Marcus, whips out of his phone and messages his boss, Mike Ritter.
The boy did it, Mike. He proposed to Emily.
His phone vibrates only seconds after sending the text.
I knew he would, tell Aaron he owes the First Daughter a puppy.
Marcus chuckles just as he hears the pop of the Champagne bottle cork and a squeal coming from the Vice President's fiancee.
Protecting Aaron Shore and now Emily Rhodes will be one interesting ride.
A/N: This will be my last Christmas story of 2023, Angels, and quite possibly my last published story of 2023, I hope you all have a safe and merry Christmas.
The last part of this oneshot didn't include the security detail in my handwritten draft but I added it in to see if it fits in and it does, please read and review and have a happy holiday.
