The ideal and the real; two very interrelated concepts and important to understanding truth.
The ideal is what is chased, what is hoped for; the optimism that tomorrow will be a brighter day. It doesn't bother with the wickedness of the world in front of it. It doesn't bother itself with all the gritty details in the moment. Idealism sees only the best in everything and everyone, the potential to change and grow for the better. It doesn't stop to ask how such a thing could be possible or not, it simply says strive. Strive and you will see the path towards the ultimate end goal. A goal that many feel is impossible to truly achieve. After all, how can anyone achieve perfection? It is impossible alone to reach such a status.
The real is what many are more accustomed to seeing and feeling. We leave in a broken and desperate world. Filled with evil and perversion and corruption. Cynical in its view, nothing is flawless and nothing is without blemish. People fail. Make mistakes. Big or small that cold truth lingers as loved ones die and dreams are scattered like broken glass on the ground. What good there is, is drowned in the struggles of humanity. After all, everyone has their own selfish hidden desires. In the midst of this dreariness, it seems like nothing has purpose. It feels like there is no point, no goal to strive towards. After all, if we are doomed to die, what does anything matter? Everything, no matter what is done, will eventually be meaningless and fade. Humanity seeks for something more than survival.
When brought together, something wonderful happens. The ideal lifts up the real; the real grounds the ideal. Optimism reminds the cynic that life does have purpose, that everything was made for a reason. The cynic shows optimism that empty words will not change the world, and that something needs to be done now, in the moment. This union is what opens the eyes of the blind to the truth of the universe. All things, even the worst of what evil can offer, can be turned and made to be used for good. Reality and idealism blend, and now what was mere wishful thinking has been brought into the real world. Heaven no longer hides in the clouds as something foreign and distant. It comes to earth and shines brightly in a world of darkness.
There is hope, there is a goal, and there is a future. We cannot do it by ourselves, but if we align ourselves with the union of the ideal and real, the creator, our maker and loving designer, than heaven will come to earth, and earth, to heaven. Cliché as it is, this world needs a savior. There is only one who can make this world right again.
He is the Messiah.
