Chapter 6
I don't own Legacies, The Vampire Diaries or The Originals, they belong to Julie Plec (and whoever else). I just own Giulia and any other OC. I'm not making any profit from writing this.
This chapter isn't betaed, any mistakes are my own and English is definitely not my first language. Constructive criticism is much appreciated, flames are not.
This was inspired by the episode with the genie, where Lizzie sees the alternate universe where Hope was never born and supernatural beings and humans are at war.
My spells are the results of using Google Translate to translate from English to Latin so they're probably wrong.
Spells
(Translation) : when there's no translation beside a spell it's because it comes from The Vampire Diaries, The Originals or Legacies.
Thoughts
SATURDAY MAY 23rd, 2009. NIGHT.
Giulia was leaning against a tree and watching the pathetic show that was Elena Gilbert breaking up with Matt Donovan.
The boy had been kind enough to invite her to this party when she left Mr Williams' office. She accepted only because she hadn't been to one since she was 13 and the Salvatore School was discovered to be supernatural by the humans.
Well, she had been to a couple of parties, but it had always been on missions so she couldn't have fun. Not like she was having right up until Elena had dragged Matt away to 'talk'.
Giulia kind of pitied the guy for not seeing it coming. He really should've, he spent half the night dancing and talking with her and his girlfriend didn't come over once.
She wasn't an expert on romantic relationships, but if Landon saw her chatting someone up all night he would have come over, placed a possessive hand on her shoulder or waist and inserted himself in the conversation. Even MG, the more easy going of their group, would have done that with Kaleb.
The fact that Elena had just watched with her friends from the sidelines should really have clued him in.
"What are you looking at, new girl?" asked Tyler Lockwood coming up behind her.
Giulia pointed at the couple with her beer, Matt was crying and Elena was hugging herself miserably. "I think they're breaking up." She couldn't very well tell him she'd been using a spell to eavesdrop, just to check that history was still on track.
Greyson would die tonight, even if she had to do it herself. She'd never feel safe here if she let a monster like that run around unchecked.
Tyler shrugged, "It was a long time coming."
She looked up at him, "Really?" From what Alaric and Damon had told her, he didn't seem like the observant type. Although it wouldn't be the first time they were wrong about someone's character.
"Yeah," he pointed back at the party, "wanna dance?" he asked, holding his hand out.
"Won't your girlfriend be jealous?" she'd seen him making out with who Matt told her was his sister just a moment ago.
"It's just dancing," he frowned and looked at the forest, "plus she's off getting high with her druggie friends."
"Well, then," she smiled and grabbed the hand he'd dropped, dragging him back to the party, "Let's dance."
He grinned as he followed her.

Giulia opened the door to her house and called out, "Zach, I'm back." She'd seen the light was on in the living room through the windows.
"How was the party?" he called out.
"It was fun, I danced a lot and made a friend." She froze as she came into the living room and saw a man who was not Zach sitting on the sofa.
"Really who?" asked Zach, sitting on the couch opposite the man with a glass of whiskey in hand and his head turned towards her.
"Tyler Lockwood." she replied absently, "Who's your friend?"
He patted the seat beside him so she hurried over and sat down, he then pointed at the man with his glass and said, "This is the uncle I told you about, Stefan Salvatore."
"Oh," he and Damon look nothing alike, "Hi," she waved, "I'm Giulia De Luca, Zach's daughter."
"Hello," he smiled at her and leaned over to shake her hand.
Giulia grabbed it and siphoned his magic through her gloved hand, making a blue flame appear in her other, "Hi Mr Vampire" she sing-songed, "I'm a witch."
He looked wide eyed for a second and gulped, "I can see that."
"Don't worry though," she reassured him, letting go of his hand and turning off the fire, "Two of my best friends were vampires so I don't have a problem with it." She smiled and shrugged, "I just wanted to be dramatic."
He smiled at her, "I'm glad, we're family after all."
Giulia just smiled and didn't say anything. That word meant nothing from the guy who stole his nephew's daughter.
Giulia understood wanting to protect his brother, but he could have just as easily compelled Zach to think Gail simply died in childbirth and let him keep his kid. MG, kind and forgiving Milton Greasley, had been pissed enough when that came up to seriously ask her to curse Stefan Salvatore. Not that she would.
Damon had warned her that even when he hated his brother, he still would've killed anyone who really hurt him. She did not want an unstable, overprotective big brother after her head.
"So why are you here?" she asked him.
"I decided to come visit Zach," he replied. "I think I'll stay for a couple of days."
"Why?" Zach asked suspiciously.
"There's something that I have to investigate." he stated calmly.
"Meaning?" asked Giulia, raising a brow. She wasn't going to let him get away with that non-answer.
He gave in surprisingly easily, "There was a car accident at Wickery Bridge. The car fell in the river and I jumped in to save them. I only managed to save the girl and she looked exactly like Katherine."
"What?" Zach jumped up, "Do you know who it was?" he asked, heading for the phone.
"Don't call." she ordered him. Then, realising what she'd done and that Stefan might be suspicious of Zach's easy compliance, she added, "How will you explain that you know about the accident? We can't tell them about Stefan." She then turned to the vampire and asked, "Did the girl see you?"
"No, she was unconscious."
Zach moved back to the couch and sat back down, "How could she look like Katherine? She's dead."
"That's what I plan to find out," he told them.

SUNDAY MAY 24th, 2009. DAY.
Zach had been notified this morning that the Gilberts were dead and their daughter Elena was in the hospital. The man hadn't been that saddened that his fellow Council member was dead, the two of them weren't exactly close.
Stefan had been asking Zach all sorts of questions about Elena and her family when she left, which was good because she didn't need the vampire getting all up in her business. Especially since she did not have an excuse ready for this one.
She was once again in the backyard of the Gilbert house, having driven her jeep through the forest roads to get as close as she could before continuing on foot.
"Invisique." She walked to the backdoor once again, thanking the gods for the Gilberts living so close to the forest. There was no neighbour at the back to see the door open and close on its own.
Giulia carefully made her way around the house, trying not to make a sound. She was terrible at keeping sound muffling spells up while on the move so she didn't even bother. The living room was empty.
Once up the stairs she headed for Greyson's room and closed the door behind her. No need for anyone to become suspicious if they came back and saw it open. She also made sure to lock it behind her for good measure.
Now, the key. Giulia carefully pulled out the drawer of the nightstand on that bastard's side of the bed and pulled out the paper pad and pens in it. She looked through them first before abandoning them on the bed but there was nothing on the pad.
She touched around the inside of the drawer before she felt a groove in it and pulled. Inside, there was Gilbert's teacher pass for Whitmore college and a ring full of keys. The fuck, she thought, I thought it was one. How many prisoners does Augustine have?! There were at least ten keys on that ring.
Giulia put everything back in its place and stood up. Now, where are those journals and the watch? She didn't feel entirely comfortable with stealing a piece of Jeremy's family history, even if he wasn't her Jeremy, but there was no way she was living all that knowledge in the hands of a vampire hunting family.
If it wasn't for the fact that she didn't want to derail history just yet, she would've made Grayson Gilbert her first kill. He was even worse than Triad, they didn't experiment on people. John Gilbert was still a threat and she refused to give him the knowledge to hurt an Original. So, no matter how much she liked her Jeremy, the journals had to go.
She opened all the drawers in Mrs Gilbert's nightstand and the dresser, but there were no more hidden compartments. She then checked the closet and there they were, in a box that wasn't even hidden. Seriously? Weren't they worried their kids would snoop around? Giulia grabbed the box and put the keys and pass inside. If he'd kept the university pass hidden, there must have been a reason and she intended to find out.
Giulia was on the stairs about to go down when she heard the backdoor opening. She hurriedly cast a muffling and scent blocking spell on herself and inched backwards towards the wall. The last spell might not be necessary since his senses were weak from drinking animal blood, but she hadn't survived as long as she did by being careless. It had the added benefit of erasing all of her scent, even what she might've left walking around the house.
Stefan Salvatore came into view before blurring up the stairs and walking at a human pace to Jeremy's room. He looked inside for a second then moved on to the bathroom, then Elena's room. He stepped inside her bedroom and closed the door.
Giulia held the garnet tightly in her pocket and slowly laid the box by her feet. She couldn't walk down the stairs, carry the box and maintain all three spells at the same time. This is why they worked in pairs and triads. She had to wait for him to leave.
