Episode One

Location: Starlight Recording Studio, Los Angeles, California, United States

Timedate: 6th October 2013

One Sunday afternoon at the studio, everything seemed mostly quiet, almost quiet, as a few rough riffs of a guitar could be faintly heard emitting from one of the several recording rooms. Sitting firmly yet quietly on a chair in the centre of said room was a young fair-skinned woman of early twenties at least with eyes and shoulder-length hair of matching azure-blue. She wore a long-sleeved jumper and socks of matching bright lavender along with a skirt and slip-on shoes of matching dark purple and a black leather belt loosely hung around her hips.

The young woman gently strummed away at her turquoise guitar, managing to hit a major chord or two, one after another then back and forth. Once she had a good enough melody up and going, the blur-haired woman soon began quietly singing a chorus.

If this were a fairytale,

You'd be the prince and I would be your knight,

If this were a fairytale,

You and I would dance under the warm moonlight,

If this were a fairytale,

You'd know I'll be your Shining Knight...

With her eyes gently closed enough, she could picture herself wearing a suit of glamorous armour with a glowing cape that flowed with her hair in the wind. The knightess wandered straight through an array of bright neon colours, almost infinite without a start or an end in sight, until she spotted a vague male figure facing away and standing in a distance so near and yet so far. With music, her music playing deep within her ears, she leapt forth and ran through slow motion, reaching out in a vain hope of making physical contact. Yet that figure never seemed to draw anywhere nearer to her at all, despite not even making any sound or movement at all. They were both trapped in a dream, and she needed to get him and herself out of it.

Meanwhile, out in the real world, walking into a neighbouring room and watching the session through a wide acoustic window was another young woman, slightly younger by a month or so, with naturallly bright blonde neck-length hair and lavender eyes. She wore a short-sleeved T-shirt and flatcap of matching white and blue strips along with white chino shorts and blue slip-on shoes. With the hint of a smile in her face, she lightly bopped her head to the guitar melody and rhythm.

Once the blue-haired girl had finished her rehearsal with a sweet power chord, the blonde's smile grew a tad wider as she gave a few light claps. Hearing such clapping emanating from the other side of the window, the blue-haired woman looked up to see the blonde doing what she'd expect her to do, where she'd expect her to be. This sudden sense of approval helped bright up her mood and boost her confidence, even if at least a little bit. The blonde then walked over to the door next to the window, grabbed the lever handle, and pulled it down.

"Hi Aja", the blonde waved as she pushed open the door.

"Oh hey, Jerrica", the blue-haired guitarist greeted back in return. "How's it going?"

"I'm doing allright myself", Jerrica said. "You?"

"Same old", Aja huffed as she adjusted the guitar strap on her shoulder. "I feel like I got this really cool idea for a song that I wanna pull off, but need to get the execution right".

"Well it does certainly sound interesting from what I've heard so far, especially the lyrics", Jerrica expressed.

"Cheers, I've been coming up with the whole 'tough girl meets soft boy, they fall in love, boy feels stress and pressure, girl has to go and save him' sort of thing", Aja explained. "You think that sounds good to ya, innit?"

"Yeah, I really like the idea, go for that", Jerrica complimented. "Did you base that off yourself and Craig, or me and Rio? Or probably somebody else?"

"Eh, a bit of all three", Aja answered.

"Okay then", Jerrica nodded before another entirely different thought suddenly came into mind. "By the way, have you seen Kimber? or at least heard from her?"

"Not today, I think", Aja shrugged. "Or last night, or yesterday".

"So weird, she always seems to be out somewhere every other evening doing who-knows-what, and never actually telling any of us about it in advance or afterwards", Jerrica brought up.

"Did you ask Shana if she knows or seen anything?" Aja mentioned.

"Yeah, I did, and even she doesn't know much either", Jerrica barely threw her arms about with a faint huff. "Kimber's just as much a valuable member of the band, and I know she's still a bit young, but she can be at least honest with us, with me".

"I know how you're feeling, Jerrica", Aja empathised as she stood up and laid a hand on Jerrica's shoulder. "She is your true sister after all, your little sister, and little siblings have to look up to their big siblings. Plus, Shana and I are still your foster sisters".

"Yes, I know that", Jerrica said.

"The most important thing you gotta do, should you actually find her face-to-face again of course, is to have and keep her eye-to-eye, view her as your equal", Aja continued. "Let her know that not only can she trust you, but that you love her too, that you understand her and are willing to listen. Convince her that".

Jerrica took all that in as much as she humbly could, glancing down to the side and subtly nodding to every point her fellow bandmate addressed to her. She and Kimber had always been biological sisters to begin with, they had to learn to look out for each other, more now than ever. They still vaguely remember the distant memories of their parents, even ever since the sudden and tragic incident that took both of them. While Jerrica and Kimber had found a new family with their foster sisters Aja and Shana in the Holograms, and many of their close friends, nothing and nobody could or would ever replace their true parents.

"Right", Jerrica gladly accepted.

"Good, great", Aja shared a smile as she patted on Jerrica's shoulder before switching the subject back to her little musical piece. "Now then, as for this song here, I got a sheet with me somewhere. In which I wrote a few rough chords and notes, and even a couple of lyrics on the back. You think I could sing the song myself or let you sing it".

"Honestly, while I think you should since it's your song", Jerrica offered. "But if you feel more comfortable with me doing the vocals for you, I can understand. Or maybe we take turns in singing certain verses and do the chorus together as a harmony".

"Yeah, that could work. Sounds like a good enough compromise to me", Aja nodded some more. "And besides, some compromises can be good and do good, if done right".

"No debate from me on that", Jem commented before the two young women exchanged a few smirks and chuckles. "So I guess you done here? I was planning to get something for a bite".

"Yeah, I've been thinking that as well", Aja agreed just as she started going over to her open guitar case laying by a wall and squatting down before she put away her guitar neatly inside and closed it up, shut good and tight.

"You like KO Burger, Taco Fish, Gram Bakery, or Kansas Fried Chicken?" Jerrica gave a few options.

"Oh, please don't make me choose", Aja hung her head back and groaned, much to Jerrica chuckling some more.

"Allrighty, how about Taco Fish then?" Jerrica narrowed down.

"Yeah sure", Aja exhaled as she lifted the full guitar case over her shoulder. "Hopefully, they might still have that Superfast Jellyfish special".

With that, plus some bright smiles on their faces and a few kicks in their steps, the two bandmates walked out of the recording room and eventually out of the studio itself. The blue evening sky, a gentle gust of warm wind, and vast glittering lights of several buildings and a few skyscrapers greeted the young ladies as if with absolute anticipation of their arrival. Waiting just outside the studio in the car park was a broad-looking hatchback van of bright van with trims of yellow and grey, and in the centre of its front grill was a rather distinct insignia resembling a robotic face of sorts.
