Mario and Blaze

Mario and Blaze have landed in a snowy forest at the foot of the mountain. They explore the surroundings before getting out their map.

- Mario: Where could the chalet be?

- Blaze: Look, the mark on the northeast side of the mountain top, that's where it is...

- Mario: Ah yes, you're right. I think we should take this path. We cross the forest, then this side of the slope and we should be there. Do you agree?

- Blaze: Yes, I think that's the best way. Let's go.

Immediately, Mario and Blaze venture into the forest. They zigzag between icy trees and rocks. It's very cold, but neither of them shows any sign of weakness. Suddenly, in the middle of the path, an icy tree trunk stands in their way.

- Mario: Look! That trunk is in the way!

Blaze steps forward and prepares a flaming punch. Mario does the same. Their combined blows immediately destroy the tree, reducing it to ashes.

- Blaze: There we go, problem solved.

- Mario: Oh, that's right! I'd forgotten you could master fire, just like me! That could come in handy!

- Blaze: You're a firebender too... and Luigi too?

- Mario: Yes, both of us! It's gotten us out of a lot of bad situations, and it's a real advantage in combat!

- Blaze:...You know...it's not as extraordinary as you might think...

- Mario: Huh?

- Blaze: This cursed power has often brought me nothing but trouble...

- Mario: What? What's that supposed to mean?

Peach and Amy

Peach and Amy find themselves near a lake. As they walk, they admire the beautiful scenery.

- Peach: Look at that lake, it's wonderful! With the mountain behind it, it's even more beautiful!

- Amy: You're right! What a lovely place!

Suddenly, Amy looks dreamy, then blushes.

- Amy: Oh, this would be the perfect place for a romantic date...

- Peach: With Sonic, right? Do you still have such a crush on him? How sweet!

Amy is as red as a tomato. Peach can't help but smile.

- Peach: You're blushing! That's so cute!

Suddenly, Amy's cheeks turn pink again, and her dreamy expression turns sad.

- Amy: But...it's never going to happen...

- Peach: Why do you say that?

- Amy: Because Sonic refuses every date...

Peach thinks for a moment before suggesting:

- Peach: Maybe he doesn't have much time to relax. You know, heroes don't have much time for themselves. Mario's the same way! I rarely see him rest!

- Amy: No, that's not true! The truth is that Sonic is just an egotist who never pays attention to how others feel! He goes where he wants, and leaves the others alone.

- Peach: Don't say that...you know very well it's not like Sonic not to care about others.

- Amy: Yes, I know...but still...

Amy looks out over the lake. She suddenly stands in front of Peach, as if seized by an illumination.

- Amy: Tell me, Peach, you seem to be pretty good at this sort of thing!

- Peach: Huh?! But...what makes you think that?!

- Amy: Well, you and Mario make a lovely couple!

Peach blushes back, extremely embarrassed by this remark.

- Peach: There's nothing between Mario and me! Well, it's complicated...

- Amy: Anyway, it doesn't matter! Please, Peach...

Amy takes a deep breath before taking Peach's hands.

- Amy: Help me win Sonic's heart! Tell me what to do!

- Peach: WHAT?!

Wario and Knuckles

Wario and Knuckles find themselves in a rocky landscape full of underground passages and caves. They consult their map.

- Knuckles: I think we're going to have to go through one of these caves or underground passages. But which way should we go if we want to get to the top quickly?

Wario looks at all the possible routes. He's both delighted and pensive.

- Wario: (The gold has to be in these caves and underground passages! It's the only place to find it! What luck! I'll just have to find a way to explore these paths from top to bottom! But that porcupine isn't going to make my job any easier...)

Wario searches for an idea, then examines the map.

- Wario: Tell me, porcupine...

- Knuckles: I'm not a porcupine, I'm an echidna! And my name is Knuckles!

- Wario: Yeah, sorry, Knuckles. I thought we'd just take a random path. There's no way of knowing which way will take us straight to the cabin anyway. And if we have to change routes, we will. Okay?

- Knuckles: All right then. I have no other solution, anyway. And we can easily make our own way if we need to, with our strength!

- Wario: Good idea! I'm a pro at punching!

- Knuckles: Great! So... where are we going?

Wario analyzes all the caves in front of him. He notices one.

- Wario: (In general, gold is more likely to be found in damp caves...so there's a better chance of finding it there). Let's try that way.

- Knuckles: That cave? Okay.

Immediately, Wario and Knuckles enter the cave with uncertainty.

Luigi and Shadow

Luigi and Shadow are walking on a snowy slope. Neither speaks. Luigi seems too intimidated by Shadow, and Shadow pretends Luigi isn't there. After a few minutes, Shadow looks at the map again to check which way to go. The chalet is straight ahead, at the top.

- Shadow: (It's not an arduous path, but it's a long one...it'll be hours before we reach the chalet...and Sonic might get there before me...unless...)

Shadow puts the map away. He stares at the summit, ponders, then approaches Luigi.

- Shadow: Tell me Luigi, if the opportunity arose to get to the chalet faster...wouldn't you be against it?

Luigi stops dead in his tracks. He's both astonished that Shadow has finally spoken to him and by his question.

- Luigi: Well...not really. But what do you mean?

- Shadow: What I mean is that we could be at the chalet in the blink of an eye if we used my speed. It'd be a shame not to take advantage of it, don't you think?

- Luigi: But...that would be cheating! You want us to cheat?!

- Shadow: "Cheating" isn't the word I'd use. Besides, don't you think Sonic and Silver, who are just as fast, had the same idea to get there first?

- Luigi: No, it's not like them to cheat.

- Shadow: It's not cheating! It's using my speed to get there faster! When the Professor created me, he gave me this ability. Don't you think I'd be ashamed of him if I didn't use it?

- Luigi: Because you think you wouldn't shame him by cheating?

Shadow initially seems confused by this answer, but remains unperturbed.

- Shadow: It's not cheating. Do you know why? Because nobody said we couldn't do it. What do you think?

Luigi seems increasingly hesitant.

- Shadow: And I really want to get there before Sonic. I want to prove to him that I'm the strongest.

- Luigi: I understand...because I too...I too would like...

- Shadow: What? Arrive before Sonic?

- Luigi: No, before Mario.

- Shadow: Your brother? Why?

Luigi looks at the ground, trying to hide his shame.

- Luigi: I'd like to prove to everyone that he's not always the best... that for once, I can be better than him...

Shadow seems intrigued by this confession. Luigi raises his head.

- Luigi: You know what, Shadow? I realize that we're in the same situation, you and me.

- Shadow: What? What do you mean? I'm having trouble following you.

Luigi thinks before nodding.

- Luigi: Forget it, it's not important. Well, in the end, I accept your idea. Anyway, nobody will know! Besides, we're in it to win it!

- Shadow: Very well. I'm glad you've changed your mind.

- Luigi: But how are we going to do it? I'm not as fast as you.

Shadow immediately grabs Luigi's arm and gets ready to start.

- Shadow: Tell me, Luigi, I bet you've never gone this fast before, have you?

- Luigi: No, no, no, wait, WAIT!

Without paying any attention to Luigi's cries, Shadow turns on his boots and skates across the snow. He's going so fast you can't see him, and so fast that Luigi would fly away if he wasn't holding his arm. They head straight for the chalet.
