This chapter is kind of short and not that great but I wanted to get something out after but posting this in a while.
Chapter 4- Confessions
Zen wasn't sure what to expect when she met the Get Backers. As Zen observed Ban and Ginji for the first time, she couldn't help but feel a mix of intrigue and uncertainty. Their unexpected appearance and the contrasting personalities they exhibited were unlike anything she had encountered before. Ban's brashness and Ginji's naivety created a strange dynamic that intrigued her, while their unique monikers, "Evil Eye" and "Lightning Emperor," added an air of mystery.
Despite her reservations, Zen understood the gravity of the situation. She sighs. Things were only going to get worse because of the Yakuza involvement and she was gonna need all the help she could get.
. . .
Later that day, the trio arrived at a bar further out. It sat between a few other bars and clubs in the area.
Zen met up with Ginji and Ban, noticing the tall men stepping out of the white bug. She stepped out of her silver sedan, wearing a black skirt that stopped mid thigh, a white v-neck and a necklace that dropped right below her cleavage. Her dark hair was loose, the ends curling down her shoulders. Whoa!" Ginji stares at Zen, "you look amazing!"
Ban raises an eyebrow. "What's with get up?" He looks her up and down with a smirk.
"Obviously. To lure in the target." She gestures to herself again. "We gonna get this party started?"
She walks ahead of them while giving her dark hair a flick.
"She's a feisty one isn't she?" Ginji smiles and Ban rolls his eyes.
In the bustling bar, Masaomi and his rowdy group of thugs were enjoying their drinks and creating a ruckus. However, his attention was drawn to Zen, who sat nearby, offering him a sly smile. He notices that Zen is sitting nearby, giving him a coy smile.
"Hey little lady," he calls out, leaning in her direction. "What cha doin here all alone?"
She looks at him, crossing her leg over the other and placing her hand on her chin.
"Oh you know," she twirls a lock of her hair. "Just looking for some fun." She notices him leering at her and chuckles as he swipes a hand over his mouth. He was a man that looked to be in his late thirties, short dark hair greasy and slicked back against his head. He had a purple suit jacket with a lavender dress shirt and pants. He had a goatee over his thin lips as his beady eyes raked over her body.
She leads him to the alleyway where Ban and Ginji corner him against the wall.
"What the-"
Masaomi feels his legs give from underneath him and yelps in pain as he fell the ground.
Ban leans in with a smirk on his face.
" So, Masaomi," Ban begins, "I heard you run an interesting business."
Masaomi looks up nervously at the Ban, his eyes obscured by his purple glasses. "Look, I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't do anything."
"Ah, see that's where you're wrong." Ban walks closer, looking down at the man. "We're looking for a missing young woman. I'm sure you know her right?"
He takes a photo of Shiori from his pocket and shows it to him.
Masaomi scoffs and looks away. "Neva seen her."
"You sure?" He hears Zen from behind him. She walks in front of him, who has crossed her arms, a stern expression on her face. "We know you've been pulling some shady business, Masaomi. We know you've been harassing Shiori because for her father's debt. And now you're going to tell us exactly what happened to her."
Masaomi narrows his eyes at them. "You think I give a crap about some broad? Pfft, you guys are a joke.."
Ginji steps closer cracking his knuckles with a glint in his eyes. "You see, Masaomi, we're not really in the mood for games." An electric charge emits from his fists.
Masaomi started sweating, looking around at the trio. "What the hell!?" He tried to get up to run but felt like something was holding his legs down. He looks down and while he didn't see anything, he felt an invisible force keeping his legs from moving.
"W-what the hell did you do to me?" He screeches as he looks frantically between them. He suddenly felt goosebumps creep up on his neck as his body begins to shake.
"Hey," Ban speaks again, only this time Masaomi can see the intimidating look in his eyes. He whimpers, puts his hands up in a placating gesture.
"Okay, okay, fine! I admit it. I was gonna sell her off to settle her father's debts. I had no choice, the Yakuza was breathing down my neck!
Ban leans closer, his voice low.
"You're playing a dangerous game, Masaomi. But lucky for you, we're not interested in revenge. We just want to know where she's being kept."
Ginji nods, cracking a grin. "Yeah , and trust me, you don't want to see what happens when we get really angry."
Masaomi shoulders slump, a defeated sigh escapes his lips. "Alright, alright, I'll do anything you want. Just please, don't hurt me."
Zen scoffs, narrowing her eyes at the pathetic man before her.
"You're going to take us to where she's being held, Masaomi. And don't even think about trying anything funny."
He shakes his head in indignation. "I'll do anything just don't hurt me!"
"Don't worry," Ban says, "we'll save that for later if you try to double-cross us."
Ginji pats Masaomi's shoulder. "You're making the right choice, buddy. Let's go find our friend and put an end to this mess."
As Masaomi's thugs spilled out of the bar, they were met with the unexpected sight of their boss being held hostage by Ban, Ginji, and Zen. Without hesitation, a chaotic brawl erupted in the alley.
Ginji's street-fighting skills and lightning-based attacks proved to be electrifyingly effective. He moved with a fluid grace, incapacitating opponents with his nimble strikes and disorienting bursts of electricity.
Ban, on the other hand, demonstrated his precision and efficiency, employing expert takedowns in which he used his exceptional speed and gripping strength to slam them to the ground. This left the thugs incapacitated in a matter of moments. His quick, calculated attacks made him a formidable force in the midst of the brawl.
"Amazing." Zen breathes out as she watches the Get Backers make quick work of the thugs.
Honestly, she didn't know what to expect, but the definitely exceeded her expectations. She knew Trish wouldn't have sent her on a wild goose chase and she didn't regret taking a chance on them.
Even though that Mido guy seemed pretty rude, the Ginji guy seemed naïve, the aura emanating off of them made goosebumps rise on her skin. The man with the Evil Eye and the Lightning Emperor…
They really were something.
