Chapter 2-2

Spider-Man Rally, The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Where's the bomb?

Spidey eyes the crowd.

~Bomber, come out, come out, wherever you are. Bomber, come out and play.

The masked Jardani spotted Spider-Man staring directly at him. He backed away and looked behind him for the quickest exit out.

"No," he muttered under his breath. "You weren't supposed to come yet."

Spidey shot a web at the retreating Jardani. He caught his mask and he yanked it off of him. Now exposed to the world, Jardani decided to make a run for it.

Jardani, is that you?!

Spidey leaps over the crowd as Jardani makes a run for it. He landed five feet away from Jardani on the other end of the crowd and stood tall before the cowering man. Jardani lands on his seat before trying to get away before Spidey web-yanks him into his hand.

"Where's the bomb?!" Spidey demanded. "Come on, Super Bomberman, where is the bomb?! Do I have to go through two levels of your brain to get the answer because I'll do it? I'm not the kind of guy who likes to speedrun through games so I'll take my time."

"Bomb?" someone in the crowd shouted. "BOMB?!"

The crowd broke out screaming and scattered like an army of ants but Spidey paid them no attention. Spidey puts Jardani in an armlock before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a flashlight. His spider-sense was going haywire once more.

"Is this the bomb or are you so blind you need a flashlight during the day?"

BANG-BANG!

Spidey put Jardani in a headlock and spun 180 degrees around. He saw someone wearing a Demon mask holding a girl hostage.

"Let him go," the Demon warned, "or this girl gets a bullet in her head." He holds her in front of him and drills the barrel into her temple. The girl's face is red and puffy with tears.

"Please," the girl sobbed, "I don't have life insurance; I can't die yet! Please, please don't let me die, Spider-Man."

Spidey chucked the flashlight at a light pole about fifty feet away from the crowd and webbed it to the very top.

"Typical hostage situation," Spidey said aloud. "Except we both got hostages. But, you're at a disadvantage."

I recognize that voice: it's Owen. Owen and Jardani from that poker table the other night. Why are they bombing this place? The deal was that as long as all the gangs in New York kept their casualties in-house, I would leave them alone. But no, they just had to break that rule. But why? Why did they suddenly break that rule? All the mob leaders should've enforced that rule… which means… someone has gone rogue. One of the leaders has gone rogue and if he's willing to break the rules, then I can't let him live any longer.

Spidey's ears perked up. "Stand down, Silk!"

Silk landed beside Spidey. "But-"

"The bomb is in the flashlight," he told her, "on the light pole over there. I want you to take it and get it as far away as possible from the civilians; I'll take care of these fuckers."

Silk's eyes blinked rapidly. "But, shouldn't I-"

"Silk, the innocent are more important; save them."

Silk quickly nods and leaps to the light pole, taking the flashlight bomb before swinging away.

Spidey cocks his head smugly and nods. "As you can see, I'm a very reasonable person, Mr. Hostage Taker. Silk could've knocked your teeth out but I told her to save civilian lives rather than waste any time with you. But now that the good spider is gone, you only got me."

"I will shoot her," Owen panicked.

"But if you do…" Spidey hisses, "You will have nothing to stop me. Bullets can't stop me. Knives can't stop me. Bombs sure as hell can't stop me. That hostage is the only thing keeping me at bay and if you shoot her, I will snap your friend's neck right here and then… I will snap your neck. But when I snap your neck, I will make sure to do it in a way that you are still alive, convulsing and crying in pain." He tugs on Jardani's neck tighter. "So, if you would be so kindly as to let the hostage go, I will spare you."

"No!" Owen's grip on the gut tightened. "If I let her go, you'll kill me!"

"Not if you run away. If you let her go and run away right now, I'll spare both you and your friend." Spidey grips Jardani's hair. "I promise."

Owen shoves the girl forward and makes a run for it. Spidey lifted Jardani and launched him at Owen. They collided and fell to the ground but they quickly recovered and made a run for it.

The hostage landed in Spidey's hands and she rested her crying face in Spidey's chest. He patted the back of her head. "There, there. Don't worry, your favorite web-head will take care of the bad men."

He looked at the retreating gangsters.

If I had the symbiote with me, then I would put a tracker on them but Eddie seems to have moved out with the crowd. Maybe I can…

The tingling feeling was back.

SHIT!

A black car pulled up and a man in a Demon mask hanging out the window threw a flashlight. It was hard to see in this light but the flashlight was turned on and the lighting was glowing white.

Spidey tossed the hostage aside before he leaped for the flashlight that was about to fall into the crowd.

Damn it; I should've webbed the flashlight away. Goddamn it!

He swats the flashlight away mid-air as it was closing in on the crowd but the flashlight exploded and the briefly glowing white fireball knocked him back a few yards. He landed on his side with only a few tears in the front of his costume, exposing his stocky chest and abs. His mask was still intact so there was no risk of his real face being seen. He tried to web the tears in his costume up only to discover that his web-shooters were completely destroyed by the explosion.

The crowd was knocked back by the explosion but there weren't any casualties. Eddie Brock, who Spidey spotted in the crowd, was making sure of that.

Spidey looked back at the Demon car and watched it take off.

You destroyed my web-shooters; that is NOT going to slide.

He sprinted after them when they took off at sixty miles per hour. They drive into oncoming traffic and despite New York being infamous for having the worst traffic, somehow, the Demons manage to avoid crashing into any car.

Spidey uses parkour on the cars. He does front flips, backflips, cartwheels, anything to get up and over the cars stuck in traffic to catch up to the Demons. With his enhanced speed and jumping, he had the advantage of keeping up with them, even as they were going about sixty miles per hour.

The Demon who threw the bomb stuck his head out the window and aimed an assault rifle at Spidey.

Spidey launches himself onto the roof of the car and knocks the assault rifle out of the Demon's grip. He crawls to the driver's side, shatters the window with a single punch, and pulls up his mask so he can use his mouth.

"Hey, nice driving; are you drunk?! Why didn't you say so; I'm such an advocate for drinking and driving. But not driving while under the influence; I have some standards, obviously."

He presses down on a certain spot on his neck that forces strong organic webbing to shoot out his mouth. He webs the driver's foot to the gas and hands to the wheel.

"I've always been a true believer in the term 'You Only Live Once' and I want to test that theory out on you guys, if you don't mind. Not like I give a shit what you guys think."

The intersection that Spidey anticipated they would arrive at was in sight. Spidey quickly leaps off the Demon's car and lands on the hood of a taxi, pulling his mask down along the way.

The taxi driver stops in the middle of the intersection and looks at Spidey with wide eyes.

Spidey shatters the glass window, rips the seatbelt, pulls him out, and holds him tight in his hands before jumping.

The Demons' car crashes into the unoccupied taxi at ninety miles per hour and both cars come skidding to a halt. The Demons' car falls on its side with the front of the car completely totaled. It topples over on its top.

Spidey lands on the curb and releases the taxi driver. "I'm going to assume those guys don't have their license."

The taxi driver took off, leaving Spidey alone to confront the overturned car and look through the destroyed windows. None of the passengers seem to survive, even with the airbags deployed. He reached inside to see if he could find anything but came up short.

"And this is why you wear your seatbelts. Oh wait, they were wearing their seatbelts and they still died. If seatbelts fail horribly at keeping you alive then why bother having them? Boy, am I going to have a long conversation with the guy who invented seatbelts."

Where's the detonator? Where do they have it? My money would not be on the driver but the passenger. And it was thrown from the left side of the car. Unless it was like a grenade, then it was probably triggered by a detonator. Unless there was a timer. Then again, this flashlight looked to be a backup bomb of some kind because Jardani was in the crowd and he had a bomb. This means Jardani was supposed to use the bomb and the bomb these passengers threw was a backup bomb.

He narrows his eyes behind his mask.

On second thought, when I think about it when these guys threw the flashlight, the light was turned on. It was hard to see because it was daytime but yes, the flashlight was on. On the other hand, Jardani's flashlight wasn't on. This means that the detonator to the bomb is the on/off button for the flashlight.

He smiles.

Good to know.

He leaps into the air and scales a tall building. He reaches the rooftop and sits down on the ledge with one leg dangling off.

"I always knew the status quo was going to be broken sooner or later... I just didn't think it would be so soon though." He sighs. "Oh well, this means I get to destroy some gangsters in the most brutal way possible." He looks down at his web-shooters. "If I shot a tracer on Owen and Jardani, I could've traced them back to their hideout. I would find out who their leader is, kill them, and then force everything to go about to the status quo. But at the same time, I haven't seen much action lately so maybe I'll let the leader run rampant just for a little while so I can ride out this chaos and freedom." He shook his head. "Then again, since the Spider Act applies exclusively to supervillains, it wouldn't go into effect in this case. If this is the start of a gang war and violence, then it would usually be an issue for the police. After all, police fight gangs." He nods curtly. "But that doesn't mean I can't take them out." He sighs loudly once more. "And as much as I would love for the chaos to ride out for a little while, I changed my mind; if my mother was caught as collateral damage then I would have a problem. I would rather have someone else's mother die than my mother die."

He checks his web-shooters. "As soon as I get back, I'm going to make more web-shooters. In fact, I'll try and make them more durable than before." He looks at his chest. "And I need to make my costume more durable too. I need to make some kind of tracker for my enemies; while the symbiote is the best kind of tracker, I won't always have the symbiote with me."

The tingling feeling was back.

What? Darts?

Spidey looks around and sees nothing. He leaps to his feet and fails to spot any darts coming at him. He looks turns around and looks in the other direction. He looked North, where his spider-sense was warning him the darts were coming from but saw nothing. Then, he felt a very soft pinch on his left collarbone.

He looks done and sees a dart the size of a toothpick that is virtually invisible.

What the shit?!

He loses the feelings in his legs before he falls over the ledge. As he was about to fall over, a hand reached out and grabbed his hand, and yanked him back onto the roof. Spidey's vision went black from there.

One Hour Later

Silk arrived back at the building where she was invited to become part of Spidey's morally gray team and messaged everyone else to meet her. She held the flashlight in her hand and dared not to do anything with it, nor touch the glass nor the button to turn the light on.

When everyone arrived, sans Spidey, Silk showed them the flashlight.

"This is a bomb," she said simply. "This is the bomb my silk-sense told me about. I didn't see it go off but I saw an explosion as I was swinging away."

"Let's move this conversation inside," Black Cat urged. When all of them were inside the window and hidden away from society, they stood in the center of the attic and looked down at the flashlight. "Nice little bomb here," Black Cat admired. She grabbed it and her finger trailed to the on/off button.

Silk's sixth sense went haywire. "No, that's the trigger!"

"Just as I suspected." Black Cat grabs a nearby table before she unscrews the top off and pours the batteries out. Two big batteries with several wires connected pour out and onto the table and Black Cat picks them up and looks them over. Checking each wire, she noted that each wire was red. In her experience, the red wire was the wire to pull. If all of them were red, then that meant that the bombmaker was smart, but not smart enough.

There were five wires, and only one of them was red, two others were painted red, and the last two were fake wires. She pulls the wires from the batteries and smiles triumphantly. "Voila."

"And 'Bingo' was hisss name-o," Venom laughed. "How did you do that?"

Black Cat smiles. "My father was in the police force; I have learned a thing or two from the bomb squad."

"Wow... you can pick locksss, hack, and disssarm bombsss. You are a very naughty kitty," Venom almost purred. "Ssshe taught Eddie how to hack and pick locksss."

"It comes with the territory, Venom."

"Haha, we like you a lot."

Silk tilted her head. "Guys... why are the batteries glowing?"

Black Cat grabbed one of the batteries and noted that it had a black-and-white glowing hue to it. She places the bombs down and looks insight the flashlight. "Strange." She narrowed her eyes. "It's just like the guys with the glowing swords from earlier. A couple of nights ago, I got into a fight with some overzealous glowing sword swinger. That glowing sword could cut through metal." She clicked her tongue. "And there was one guy I saw that was glowing."

"A glowing guy? Sounds like a supervillain."

"Of course, because what other kind of people glow? Pregnant women don't count."

Silk shrugs. "Got me there."

Black Cat looks back at the batteries. "The glowing guy I saw looked to be an authoritative figure because when I robbed these mob guys, one of the leaders was addressing the glowing guy so he must've been an even bigger leader. Remember when Spider showed us pictures of all the gang leaders so we knew who not to get rough with?"

"Yeah; about five guys or so."

"Yeah, the glowing guy was not one of them. These gangs weren't supposed to target innocent people. And they're wearing these Chinese Demon masks."

Venom upchucks Eddie's camera. "You mean thessse masssksss?" He shows them photos of the Demons throwing the flashlight bomb from the car.

"Yes, those guys." Black Cat looks ahead. "If what I'm saying is true, then that means these gangs have a new leader and their leader has some kind of glowing powers." She shook her head. "No, it's some kind of augmentation power because the sword was glowing and it cut through metal and then there were these batteries. Batteries don't normally explode but when they're overcharged, they explode but not to the degree of a bomb. And there's obviously been some tinkering with these batteries so they have some gunpowder to make a bigger explosion."

"So, if what you're saying is true, this glowing guy, he could... explode or augment his physical strength?"

"I'm not too sure." Black Cat looks around. "Where's Spider? Usually, he would have a thing or two to say."

"I'm not sure; I texted him to get his ass here but he's gone silent."

"He went after the car with the bomb," Venom answered. "According to what Jamessson hasss been reporting, he causssed the car to crasssh into an unoccupied tax then took off."

"Add damage to taxis as something he could be charged with." Black Cat turned to Venom. "The tracker on him, where is he?"

Venom paused. "We are tracking him to Chinatown."

"What's Spider doing in Chinatown?"

"Probably chasing the rest of those masked guys," Silk offered. "Should we go after him?"

"Spider can take care of himself."

"But he didn't answer his phone."

"If Spider isn't answering his phone, then it must mean he's busy." She looked back to Venom. "Is he busy, Venom?"

"Uhh... we don't know; he'sss moving at a ssslightly ssslower web ssspeed. Then again, hisss web-ssshootersss were destroyed."

Black Cat narrowed her eyes. "Spider is going to be fine; we need to do something about this bomb though; bombs make fires and cats don't like fires."

Silk smirked. "If you don't like fire, then why do you hang out with your flame, Spider?"

Black Cat laughed. "Maybe I'm a masochist." She pats Silk on the shoulder. "But seriously, we need to focus on this bomb."

"But Spidey-"

"We can't let Spider do all the heavy lifting." She smiles mischievously. "Ironically, Venom here is the strongest but he doesn't do much."

Venom looks up. "You think we are losssersss?"

"Can't take a joke, Venom?"

Venom growls. "We are losssersss." He chuckles. "Eddie disssagresss."

Silk looks shifts her gaze from Black Cat to Venom and smirks behind her red mask. She sighed softly before looking down at the batteries and then focused on the window to the city.

Chinatown

Spidey's eyes widened and he sucked in air through his mask. He jumps to his feet and looks around with his fists raised.

Where am I?

With his spider-sense saying nothing is wrong, he takes the opportunity to scan his environment. The new location was indoors and looked to be the inside of a hunter's lodge. There were animals of various sizes and species stuffed and mounted on the wall. Spidey looks down at the ground and sees that he's on a carpet made from animal fur he couldn't identify. There was a dim light lit up in the corner and the only door to the room was a cage door.

He heads to the door, waits to see if his spider-sense would act, then decides to kick the door down. It took him two kicks but he managed to knock the door off and send it flying into the wall. He walked out of the room and down the hall, where there were more stuffed animals on the wall.

I was knocked out by a hunter... a VERY experienced hunter. He used darts so tiny I could barely see them, especially with me being a little jittery in trying to find where the darts came from. This hunter got lucky.

He stops when he sees an elephant at the end of the hallway. He immediately spots a hairline crack in the tusks.

Huh, this elephant's tusks were snapped off. Interesting. I wonder...

The tingling sensation was back.

"Spider-Man," a slight Russian accent spoke.

Spidey turns in the opposite direction and spots someone at the end of the hallway. This was a tall and stocky man with a very large build wearing a lion's hide for clothing. He also had a crossbow made of wood dangling over his shoulder.

"Have you seen my trophies, Spider-Man? I had them imported from my home all the way here to New York."

"It's lovely," Spidey answers. "Very lovely." He put a hand to his face to make sure his mask was still on. Yes, the person who kidnapped him hadn't removed his mask. Or alternatively, he removed his mask while unconscious and then put it back into place before he woke up.

"If you're wondering if I removed your mask, I did not. I do not care who you are behind the mask, Spider, only that I kill you."

I can hear his heartbeat and smell him from here. His heartbeat is moving at a steady pace and does not seem to be secreting any scents to suggest that he is lying. Either that or he is a very skilled liar.

Spidey laughs. "You're going to have to get in line because a lot of people are dying to kill me."

"You will have to show me with words, Spider."

"Why didn't you kill me in my sleep? You tranqed me so you could've killed me in my sleep."

My spider-sense would've done the work and woke me up if that happened. But... my spider-sense didn't go off or wake me up in any way, which means, he made no attempts to harm me when I was unconscious. The same would happen if he tried to remove my mask. So he was telling the truth about not removing my mask. He wants to kill me not as an enemy but as a predator hunting prey. He is by nature a hunter. Good, I can use this to my advantage.

"That would've been unfair and not very sporty," Krraven answered.

Spidey chuckles. "Finally, an enemy who actually cares about fairness."

This will be over easy; I can kill someone, even WITHOUT web-shooters.

Spidey launches himself forward and throws his fist out.

Kraven casually steps to the side, doing the blow and making Spidey punch the wall and leaving a crater behind. Spidey gasps and backhands Kraven, only for him to duck. Spidey grabs him by the throat and pushes him into the wall. Spidey presses down on his throat to choke him but Kraven grabs both hands and slowly but surely pries Spidey's hands off.

Even when Spidey realized what was happening, even as he applied more force behind his arms, Kraven still managed to push Spidey's hands back. Kraven kicks Spidey in the sternum and sends him flying to the opposite end of the hall. He crashes into the wall and lands on the seat of his costume. He stands up quickly and looks at Kraven.

"Damn, someone's been drinking their milk."

Interesting... this guy has super speed and super strength.

"You should've killed me when you had the chance," Spidey warned.

"I wanted this to be as fair a fight as possible," Kraven told. "I wanted both of us to be aware of what the other is capable of." He draws a sword. "You Spider-Man and I am Kraven the Hunter."

"Kraven the Hunter."

Never heard of him but he knows everything about me while I know nothing about him. Ironic that in my civilian life, I am nobody that nobody pays attention to but in my superhero life, everybody knows me and what I'm capable of. Good, because I've looked at everything that is public about Spider-Man, including superpowers. If someone looked up my powers, they could come up with countermeasures against them. I expect people to come up with countermeasures against me so I can come up with countermeasures against THOSE countermeasures.

Improvising is the art of the battlefield but strategizing is the art of the war.

Spidey lunges for him and barely dodges the sword strike. He manages to land a punch on Kraven's jaw but his knuckle hurt and Kraven barely flinched. Kraven swings the sword, and Spidey dodges and leaps over him. He puts Kraven in a headlock. Kraven grabs Spidey and throws him off. Spidey lands on the floor and immediately leaps for him. Kraven kicked him in the chest hard, stopping him. Spidey grabbed Kraven's leg and swung him to the wall to his left. Kraven drew his crossbow and fired. Spidey dodges and he kicks the crossbow away. Kraven slashes Spidey's legs with the sword. He left a deep cut in Spidey's tendons that made him grunt and fall to the ground. He kips up and decides to leap to the ceiling to give him a grace period.

That sword has my blood on it; can't leave any DNA evidence behind. I am DEFINATELY making a stronger suit after this, something with more armor, specifically, anti-stab armor. And maybe even something a little bulletproof. I would rather a bullet get stuck inside my body than go clean through; at least I wouldn't have to worry about a bullet having my DNA left behind at a crime scene.

Spidey launches at Kraven while he is still on the floor. He had little time to react when Kraven raised the sword and Spidey impaled himself. Spidey winches and punches Kraven hard across the jaw. Kraven kicks him hard enough to launch him up at the ceiling. Spidey falls to the ground and falls on the ground. Unfortunately, the sword was still impaled in him when he hit the ceiling and when he landed on the ground, the sword was pushed deeper and came out of his back.

SHIT, that hurts!

"Damn it, Kraven, you were supposed to fall on your own sword for me, not the other way around."

Spidey picks himself up and gets punched across the face. He uppercuts Kraven but the uppercut Kraven delivered sent Spidey flying into the air and landing on his back. He picks himself up, Kraven kicks him and launches him to the wall. He bounced off the wall but the sword impaled into the wall with the sword still through Spidey's stomach.

"If you wanted to hunt spiders so badly, you should've tried the spider exhibit at the zoo; plenty of Brown Recluses to get bitten by." Spidey winces.

Spidey was held to the wall by the sword and realized to free himself, he would have to pull the sword out or pull himself from the sword.

Kraven retrieved his crossbow and fired at Spidey. He held his hand up, catching a large black bolt that pierced through his palm and left him internally screaming. He ripped the bolt from his palm. "And people say I wouldn't make a good catcher on the baseball team."

I have an idea.

"You talk too much," Kraven scolded.

He dropped the bolt to the ground and opted to pull the sword from the wall and then through his stomach. With the bolt and the sword free from his body, he launched the bolt like a throwing knife at Kraven. "Hold still so I can stab you."

He dodged the projectile and leaped back when Spidey swung the sword down. Spidey used his gloved hand to wipe his blood off the sword before he resumed his strike on Kraven. Kraven kept dodging the sword attacks with perfect precision. Spidey throws the sword at Kraven and as predicted, Kraven dodges and it lodges into the wall behind him.

Spidey leaps forward and caught Kraven by the waist. He knocks him to the ground and dodges a kick that was intended to launch him off. Spidey lifts Kraven to his feet and blocks another incoming kick. Spidey returns the favor and kicks Kraven. Kraven flies to the wall and feels something pierce his right shoulder. It was the bolt Spidey launched earlier. He tosses the bloody bolt to the ground retrieves the sword and waves it around.

Spidey smiles.

Perfect, I have everything I need. As much as I love to stay here and fight, I would rather run and live to fight another day. After all, he is nothing more than a distraction; those rogue gangsters are the real villains here. Once I deal with those guys, then I'll fight to the death with this hunter.

Spidey feigns a punch, making Kraven dodge the punch that never came and Spidey grabs the bolt.

"Do svidaniya, Kraven. I don't want to be called 'late for dinner' but I really don't want to be late for dinner."

Spidey runs down the hallway where Kraven first emerged and makes a run for it. Kraven was already on it, even as Spidey sprinted and used his spider sense to help him dodge any incoming attacks. "Slowpoke! And you call yourself a professional hunter; my dead grandparents can move faster than you!"

I've bled in this place; my DNA is everywhere. I have to burn this place to the ground to destroy any evidence.

"Kraven, I appreciate being chased but I would rather be chased by women, not hunters." Spidey knocks a table over. Kraven leaps over it and thrusts his sword out. Spidey dodged it and jammed his fingers into Kraven's right eye. Kraven's right eye managed to survive Spidey's superhuman gouge attack.

Kraven knocks Spidey's hand away and uses the sword but Spidey dodges it and he hits a painting. "First the Museum of Art and now that painting? Why do you all hate art?"

Spidey kept on running and when he saw a door, he sprinted for it and shouldered into the door, knocking it down. Without waiting another second, he kicks the door up and pushes it back into place. He leaps to the ceiling as Kraven knocks the door down and looks around for the missing spider.

Spidey hid in whatever shadows the ceiling had to offer and quickly crawled away.

Without looking, Kraven launched the sword at the ceiling and hit nothing. The sword was lodged deep into the ceiling but there was nothing it hit. Kraven narrows his eyes looks around and begins trailing down the hallway.

Spidey reaches out and grabs the sword that was three inches from hitting him. He crawls away.

I have everything I need.

Thirty Minutes Later

Everything was a hassle, especially with how New York was still panicking with that bomb that went off. Yuri couldn't handle the stress of the public crying so she retreated to a secluded location and ordered Anderson to take care of everything. No injuries, no casualties, and only minor damage to city property. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was completely intact and no harm was done. The only major damage came from one unoccupied taxi and the bombers' car with all four passengers inside dying after it crashed into the taxi. A big win. The police were able to calm down everyone there and Yuri was happy that Anderson was about to take care of everything.

Yuri went onto the roof of the NYPD to take a break from everything. She began flicking her zippo on and off and flinched when she heard someone land beside her. She didn't have to turn around.

"Spidey it sure took you long enough."

Spidey approached her, his wounds webbed up with organic webbing from his mouth and the crossbow bolt in his hands. It was completely clean of his blood save for the blood on the very end, which belonged to Kraven the Hunter.

"Yuri," Spidey began, "how's everything been?"

"Good," she answers, "very minor collateral damage. Looks like you got damage to a city vehicle added to your arrest charge."

"Good to know." Spidey holds the bolt up for her. "Listen, I was ambushed and I need answers. The person who ambushed me is a hunter, a hunter unlike anything I've seen before. His blood is on this bolt."

I am SO glad I stole materials from the hospital before coming here. Otherwise, I never would've been able to completely clean MY DNA of this bolt.

"The hunter's name is Kraven the hunter. Normally, I wouldn't care too much to ask for your help in finding this guy, but I don't have access to the national database."

Yuri takes the bolt after donning the rubber gloves she had in her pocket. "I'll get this analyzed at a private lab. If I find something on this Kraven the Hunter then I'll let you know."

"Good." Spidey pauses. "By the way, the status quo has been broken; the gangs in New York City are starting to target civilians."

"I noticed. I called for a meeting with the five gang leaders but none of them responded."

"Huh, that confirms my theory. My theory of there being a new leader."

"Someone even more dangerous than the last five guys combined." She nods. "It makes sense."

"The glowing guy," Spidey continued. "I don't know the details but a contact of mine said they saw a glowing man barking orders to the gangsters. One of the gangsters had a glowing sword that could cut through metal and a bomb in some kind of flashlight went off. It was very brief and very subtle but I saw a glowing black and white hue in the fires before they turned back to their original yellow and orange color. It seems like an augmentation kind of power. I had Silk remove the other flashlight bomb. If I'm lucky, the bomb didn't go off and we will have time to analyze it."

"A new supervillain in town. Congratulations, Spidey, you have immunity until you can take down this villain. But, there would have to be evidence that a new supervillain exists before anything happens."

Spidey nods. "I already have an idea. Venom."

Yuri looks at him. "What are you and Venom going to do?"

"I'm going to have Venom pose as Kraven the Hunter and then we fight in public. Once the public sees 'Kraven's' superhuman strength and speed, it'll be uploaded to the internet. The top brass will have no choice but to initiate the Spider Act and boom, I'm free to act however I want in this city and could even have the full cooperation of the entire police force on my side if necessary. But right now, Kraven the Hunter is irrelevant. The glowing guy and Kraven aren't connected; I've seen Kraven's lair and there is no way he is in bed with these gangsters."

"Alright." Yuri snaps her zippo shut. "By the way, there were some witnesses who say that you let two gangsters run away if they released a hostage; it's so unlike you to spare violent criminals."

"Trust me, this is all part of a plan of mine; I'm just thinking ten steps ahead."

"Okay, Spidey, I'll see you later. I'll contact you the usual way when I get something back on this Kraven the Hunter. If his DNA is in the database, he'll be easier to track. If not, then, I'm sure he'll find you." She eyes his wounds. "I don't think your spider-webs are going to cut it."

"Don't worry about it."

Glowing guy and Kraven the Hunter; life is already looking more interesting by the minute. I have to take down this glowing guy and anyone who is willing to work with him while at the same time, dodging a hunter with enhanced physical characteristics.

Eh, it must be Sunday.
