Ch. 4

I don't know how you got here, maybe you've been here as I'm writing this maybe you're seeing this 5 years after I wrote this. Either way, I re-wrote this chapter, because I thought it sucked, maybe you liked the old one, which is cool, but I'm going with this one because I have the power and you can't tell me what to do.

? POV (Monday)

Over the weekend I heard that Phineas and Katie figured it out. Good, they both deserve it.; Katie, she's been in this stage for years, and Phineas, he deserves it, especially with what happened with Isabella and all the shit he's taken for it since.

But we aren't done here. It's time to help another girl get with her guy, this time it will be Milly. I personally don't know her well but that's why I'm getting help. Milly likes Buford which is wild to me because they seem to have nothing in common, but I guess that's what they say, opposites attract.

You know the drill, I took out a piece of paper and tore it in two, one piece for each of the two lucky kids. On Buford's note, I wrote the words, "Call her." Simple enough, but it should get the message across. On Milly's note, I told her to "Tell him how you feel."

I know it's probably not going to work right away; but if I'm lucky, Milly will see what this did for Katie and Phineas and get the idea that it could be her turn.

Time to go drop these notes off and hope for the best. Wish me luck.

Katie POV

Phineas and I just walked into school together. We got some looks as we held hands through the hallway; and while it technically was new to everybody at school, it felt weird. I didn't love the extra attention.

After we got to my locker, Phineas said goodbye and went off to class. I was hanging up my bag in my locker when I felt my phone buzzing. Upon picking it up I saw a text from Milly. It read:

*Come over to my locker, you've got to see this*

I quickly walked down the hall towards Milly's locker to see what was going on. When I got there I saw Milly scrambling to get things out of her locker.

"Milly, are you ok?" I asked.

"No." Milly responded. "Look!"

She shoved a piece of paper in my face. It read, "Tell him how you feel."

Well shit, looks like we continue with the envelope narrative.

"I'm assuming it's about Buford?" I asked. All I got back was a quick nod, "Does he know?"

"Maybe, I haven't told him."

"Alright, well I'm here for you Milly, I'm pulling for you!"

She smiled, "Thanks."

Phineas POV

I had just sat down for lunch with the guys before getting a look from Django across the table.

I smiled, "What's up Django?"

"Nothing," he started. "Just figured you would've left us to eat with Katie."

I rolled my eyes before responding, "Guys, I'm not gonna be one of those guys that does nothing but hang out with their girlfriends, I'm still gonna be the same old Phineas, nothing's gonna change."

I took a bite of my home-packed PB&J before noticing that the guys were all looking at something behind me. I turned to see Katie walking towards the table.

Oh boy.

I got up and walked over to her, "Horrible timing, I literally just got done telling them that I'm not gonna be one of those guys that does nothing but hang out with their girlfriends."

"I'll be quick." She said, "Long story short, Milly got a letter on her locker today about her crush, Buford. Assuming they're the same letters we got, Buford probably got one so, if you could check in on that please?"

"Milly got a letter about Buford, check to see if Buford got a letter, got it." I replied.

"Thanks." She said before she hugged me and we walked our separate ways.

"What was that about?" Baljeet asked.

"Somebody else got a note, supposedly similar to the ones Katie and I got." I replied.

"Who was it?" Django asked.

"I probably shouldn't say, at least not yet."

Milly POV

I've given a lot of thought to this today and I'm coming to the same spot a lot. There's a difference between my relationship with Buford and Katie's relationship with Phineas, both now and before. Basically, Katie's whole thing with Phineas revolved around him not knowing about it; but with Buford and I, I just don't think it's possible. We're polar opposites. Buford wants to be tough, he wants to be feared, and I don't think that a relationship with me is really gonna push his "tough guy" narrative that he's worked for since we were like 7.

I got tired of hearing my own thoughts, so when I got home from school I called Katie.

"Hello?"

"Hi Katie."

"Hi Milly, how are you?"

"I need to get out of my head, I can't stop thinking about this note." I said.

"Been there."

"Oh I know, I heard about it." I said as Katie laughed.

"Sorry…" she said while laughing.

"Anyway, I just don't really know what to do now, so I was hoping you had some words for me."

"The day of the first letter, Phineas called me that night. He got a letter that told him to call me; assuming that whoever is writing these letters is doing the same, you'll get a call from Buford at some point tonight."

"Ok, what if I don't?"

"That's definitely possible; the sender could be writing differently since your relationship with Buford is different than mine was with Phineas."

"Katie, who do you think is writing these, and how do they know all this stuff about us?"

"I wish I knew."

We sat in silence for a second before I said, "I think I'm gonna go for a walk and get some fresh air."

"Ok, keep me updated!"

"Yes ma'am." I said before hanging up.

Buford POV

Yeah ok, you got me. I got a note this morning. Damn thing just said two words, "call her." If I was as dumb as dinner bell I'd have know idea what I needed to do. The problem is that I don't want a girlfriend. Guys, I'm 14 fucken years old. All I'm worried about right now is what to workout at the gym, I don't want a girlfriend. Especially not somebody like Milly. Nothing against her, she's nice and all, but it's gonna look like I've gone soft and we just ain't gonna have that.

I figured I should call Phineas and see if he would confirm what I am already pretty sure is true.

"Hello?"

"Dinnerbell, I need you to tell me something."

"Ok, what's on your mind?"

"You said earlier today, something about somebody else getting letters, right?" I asked.

"Yeah."

"Who was it?"

"I don't think I can say"

"Was it Milly?"

"It could've been."

"Dude, I know it was."

"Then why did you ask?"

"I wanted to hear it from you."

"Did you get a note today Buford?"

"What makes you say a thing like that?"

"I just don't know how you'd know who it was if it didn't have anything to do with you."

"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't; what difference does it make?"

"You're not gonna be able to escape this, at least not unscathed."

"I don't want anything to do with this, I ain't tryna be nobody's boyfriend."

"That's fine, but whoever is doing this whole note thing doesn't seem to be easily stopped. They've been consistent since this whole thing started."

" I doubt you and Katie fought it."

"We didn't, you're right."

"That's all I needed dinnerbell."

"Buford, what did your note say?"

"It told me to call her, her, I'm assuming is Milly."

"I guess you've got a call to make."

"Sure, I guess."

"Buford, call her."

"We'll see."

"Bye Buford."

"See ya."

Oh, what the hell. I'll play your games.

I called Milly.

"Hello?"

"Hi Milly."

"Buford?"

"Yeah."

"Oh, Hi Buford. Is there something I can do for you?"

"Not really, just something I needed to ask you about."

"Alright, shoot."

"I'm sure you know all about those notes that Katie and Phineas got; well I got one today, and so I was wondering if you got one too."

There was a bit of a pause, as if Milly was scared to answer.

"I did," she said softly.

"So did I, and I figured it was about you. All it said was the words, call her."

"Oh"

"Look Milly, I know how you feel about me; but I'm not looking for a relationship right now."

"Yeah, I figured." She said softly again.

"Milly, it's not that I don't want to go out with you, it's that I can't."

"Sure it is Buford," she said sarcastically, "I gotta go. Bye Buford."

"Milly wait," was all I got out before she hung up on me.

Katie POV

I just got a call from Phineas.

"Katie? Hello?"

"Hi Phineas."

"Hey Katie, I just got off of the phone with Buford and he said he got a letter, so I talked to him about it and about calling Milly, which is what his letter told him to do, and he said that he basically doesn't want to comply with the notes, because he doesn't want to be in a relationship right now."

"Oh god."

"But I'm pretty sure he's considering calling Milly, so we'll see if that happens."

"Phineas, I'm scared; you know how Buford is, he's not going to be very good about handling this, and Milly doesn't need the heartbreak."

"He won't hurt her. At least, I don't think, he's never really had anything like this happen to him before."

"I just hope he isn't too hard on Milly if they do talk."

"We'll see."

Sorry about the confusion between differing plot lines from this and the past iteration of chapter four, won't happen again.

Probably going to be a decrease in the amount I get published for the next month or two. We've got finals coming up soon and then Christmas and all that so I will try to get some stuff out but definitely expect a decrease in the rate of uploads.
