He was furious.
Honestly, there were no words to describe his anger as cold, seemingly heartless eyes stared back at him, "What the fuck are you guys thinking?!"
"Even an organization like the Hero Public Safety Commission has its secrets," The President answered calmly and Hawks could now see why Miko wanted to kill this woman, "You must realize we have enemies everywhere, yes?"
"And your point?" Hawks growled back, "Isn't that what we Heroes are for to begin with?!" He grabbed his jacket, trying to ignore the urge to punch someone in the face, "To have a kid going around killing people?!"
"Do you honestly think we could use you Heroes to capture corrupt politicians, businessmen, spies, and the like before they could cause significant damage to this country?" The Deputy spoke this time, "Miko is silent and efficient and gets the job done without any suspicion of foul play. She does not complain about justice – she simply kills and moves to the next target we assign her."
"She doesn't complain because she doesn't even speak to you people!" Hawks shouted, "You provide her with rotten food, force her to eat like a dog, and even give her a treat like one after a mission," He rubbed his hand through his tousled blond hair roughly, "I'm surprised you didn't name her 'Koinu' or 'Inuhime' or some shit like that!"
"We tried speaking to her," The President sighed, "The only time she looked remotely human was when we gave her rewards. They were items found near her in a yellow backpack. We even tried to let her take the Provisional Hero License Exam, but she was not interested."
"I can't blame her," Hawks muttered, eyes widening, "You mean her sword, the scarf, the rosary, that mask, and the spinning top were rewards?!"
"Yes and no," The President crossed her arms, "She had the sword from the beginning and would viciously attack anyone who even try to touch it. But yes, the other items were rewards."
'These people...' Hawks trembled with outrage, "And? Is she going to get another reward!? I'd say she did pretty damn good job with that Nomu! Listened to me when I met up with Dabi! So give her a treat like the dog you made her out to be!"
The President and the Deputy glanced at one another, almost looking uneasy, "Unfortunately, we have lost... possession of the yellow backpack and the remaining items inside," She looked very apprehensive, "This is the reason we placed her under your supervision for the time being."
"And you know what?" Hawks walked to the door, glancing back with eerie glowing golden eyes, "With me in the public's favour, it shouldn't be too hard to keep it that way." He slammed the door behind him.
Miko looked up from her sitting position and Hawks smiled a bit sadly now that he knew a bit more about her, "C'mon, Miko-chan, let's go get the rest of your things!" He grinned, "You're gonna come to live with me now!"
He could not help the laugh that came out as Miko blinked and tilted her head like a curious puppy would, "I–" She began, but Hawks interrupted her before she could start.
"Nope!" Hawks grabbed Miko's arms and pulled her stand once more, "We're roomies now! So tell me, how exactly do Tengu like to live? Do Tengu and Inu get along?"
Miko's eyes glittered.
