What?

Wait.

What?!

"Your name is... Kagome?" Hawks repeated slowly and incredulously, earning a raised brow, but a nod in return, "Then what's with 'Miko'?" He asked, but then shook his head, "Don't even answer – dumb question. I'd probably give a fake name too if I woke up with barely any memories and some organization I didn't know took advantage of that." He muttered.

"Miko isn't a fake name," Kagome replied to his mutter, causing him to blink, "You can call me that and still be correct."

"Miko... is your surname?" Hawks asked doubt, biting his lip when Kagome gave him a dry look, "Your middle name?" He hung his head when that deadpanned expression simple remained, "Okay, I give up! A nickname? You can't really mean like the holy beings depicted in the legends with your Fire On–!" He inhaled sharply.

"Hawks?" Kagome inquired after a long period of silence and an astonished, but thoughtful look on his face, "K-Keigo?" She asked almost timidly when he did not respond to her first utterance of his name.

"I mean, yeah, I guess it could be like that," He was mumbling to himself, "I don't think a person could have so many Quirks naturally unless they were experimented on, and even then, would a person survive such a procedure?" His golden eyes shone, "And I thought Kurikara sounded somewhat familiar too. A sword that belongs to a God, right?"

Kagome's smile was minuscule, but still there, "Acala, or otherwise known as Fudo Myo-o, a Buddhist Dharmapala. Kurikara-ken and Kurikaramaru are certainly not the same sword. Acala-sama's sword has a dragon possessing it. My sword does possess the effects of Acala-sama's, but to a much lesser extent."

Hawks was quiet again before a loud whine came out of his mouth and he flopped to his back, taking a dismayed Kagome with him as he was still holding her.

"Gotta say it straight: I don't get any of of this stuff," Hawks patted Kagome's back, "Tengu, Fire Oni, Miko, Inu, Packs, Kami," He closed his eyes and sighed, "Honestly, you're going to have to explain this stuff to me like I'm a child. I don't know what I'm getting into really," His lips tightened, "Me treating you like you're a Quirk-user is just going to get me in the same spot as the HPSC, isn't it?"

"I am Alpha, what I say goes," Kagome surprised him when she moved until she was practically nose to nose with him, "But please answer this question honestly," Her dull eyes shone, "I have many rewards to go, yet I was put under your care before I was done collecting them all," Her hands tightened against his wrists, and if he really want to, he could easily escape, and she was allowing that, "Where is my yellow backpack?"

Hawks looked away, his mind scrambling to find an answer, but that was all Kagome needed and she moved to sit up, gripping and releasing her red scarf repeatedly as Hawks sat up as well, shaking his head, "Sorry." It was pathetic, but it was all he could think of to say.

"Tracking is simple enough," Kagome stood up, staring at the city from the top of the building, "I will go back to that place and retrieve my belongings myself. I am no longer their hunting dog."

"I..." Hawks was torn as he dedicated everything he had to the Hero Public Safety Commission, but what they had done to this kid was beyond inhumane and even he wasn't sure he could side with them on this, "I'll try to help..." He said quietly, going against everything that was taught to him.

She smiled at him again and he compared them to the stars instead of the sun – far away and small, but bright and shining when looked at in the correct way.

"Thank you, Hawks."
