Not Beta worthy?
He ran his own damn agency – if anything, he was most definitely Alpha worthy!
"I see that you have not faced facts, Fire Oni," Kagome stared so intently without blinking that it almost unnerved him, "And yet I hear rumours that you are a changed man."
"I don't think this is the right way to go about it, Miko-chan," Hawks groaned, wincing slightly at the look on Endeavor's expression, "I mean, packs can have two Alphas, right?"
"That would imply I am related to him or am currently mates with him," Kagome scoffed, "Such a thing could never occur with a male so unworthy as you. Kurikaramaru tells me so."
Endeavor's fists tightened and his teeth grit so hard his jaw ached, "What do you want, brat?" He nearly growled, internally reminding himself not to get so wound up by a mere child.
"Cooperation," Kagome answered with a smaller voice, "It is of great importance to me. There was a yellow backpack in the possession of the HPSC and they used it to control me. They are frightened of me and rightly so," She unconsciously touched the scar on her hip and Endeavor caught the brief moment her blue eyes seemed to flash a dark rabid violet and it was a look he saw only in the most psychotic of Villains, "But they are no longer of importance. The ones who stole my precious valuables will pay dearly."
The Flame Hero simply stared without saying a word.
Hawks clearly began to panic, "It's a side-job really! No pay or anything," His golden eyes glinted seriously, "But obviously, whoever stole Miko-chan's backpack knew about her and are trying to lure her away. It's fine if you say no, Endeavor-san, we'll just have to go to another agen–"
"I will assist you."
Kagome's stare did not change, "For the purpose of good itself or for your own sake?" She asked, flicking her hair over her shoulder when one of Endeavor's brow twitched, "I see. I hope spending some time with the Tengu will help with some of your self-reflection."
"W-what?! M-M-I-I-K-K-O-O-chan!" Hawks dragged her 'Hero' name in a loud whine as he watched while Kagome made herself at home on one of the couches, helping herself to the biscuits on the table, "I'm not a therapist! I like Endeavor-san and all, but–!" He cut himself off, not wanting to scream out Endeavor's sensitive family issues.
"How could I be so wrong?" Kagome hung her head over the top of the couch, looking at the wall blankly, "To have chosen you, Fire Oni, as my Beta..." She blinked, sitting up straight again, "Or perhaps it is not you I am looking for, but someone in your bloodline."
Flames brightened dangerously, "I don't care what you are looking for, girl," He stated, "What is in this backpack that is so important?" He asked with a scowl.
"Items useless to all but me," Kagome answered with that softer look before it turned into something that resembled curiosity, "But first, I wish to meet your pups. I need to determine if they are worthy of joining this pack."
"You call my children 'unworthy'?" Endeavor's flames spiked again as flashes of his past raced through his mind, "Who do you think you–?!"
A sword ripped through his arm with ease.
"Kurikaramaru!" Kagome pulled the blade back, ignoring the blood splatter and Hawks' concerned shouts about whatever it was he was squawking about, "An Alpha in this packless world," She murmured, watching as Endeavor let out a noise when his flames vanished once more, "In this very lonely place."
She just wanted a family again.
