So this chapter will mostly focus on the mission on retrieving the Sonics from the other dimensions given that I want to dedicate the next chapter for something else… Without further due, let's get started. But first, some reviews:
Void Reader: Ah, Sonic Boom, everyone's favorite version of him right? Ok, seriously, when choosing the Sonics I picked them based on how much they contribute to the story, and Boom Sonic does has a few tweaks here and there but he won't have that much of a spotlight. Also I am aware that Archie has its own multiverse so who knows? Maybe something will happen. And yes, 236-247+ is the right timeline

Tails' idea was indeed very useful, and given that they already had the star posts technology to travel to other dimensions like they did when they went to the anti-zone, or the 'opposite' dimension to put it in a simple term.
But that idea still needed to be polished so it wasn't entirely discarded but they decided to pick a faster option and since then, Sonic created two teams: Team Fighters, consisting of Sonic, Tails and Amy that focused on rescuing people from any Dr. Eggman attack outside the New Mobotropolis city.
And Team Freedom, consisting of Rotor and two new volunteers, Cream the Rabbit and Big the Cat that its job was to protect the city from anything that threatened it.
Since that, the two teams had experienced a lot. Saving a lot of folks in many towns and reuniting with a few familiar faces in some others and maybe… losing a few but the situation was more than manageable. So maybe the dimensional idea was losing more certainty now that they had showed that they could do it on their own.
It was still being developed, most specifically, Nicole and Rotor but –as I previously stated- it was a secondary project and was only going to be used if something came horribly wrong.
Which didn't seem an option.
Right now Team Fighters was on probably their most crucial mission yet in Holoska along with a little help from the local hero group called the Artic Freedom Fighters; it was the mission where they were gonna rescue Sally from the Death Egg, a flying station in the shape of an egg and the face of none other than Eggman himself.
Upon landing the Tornado, the team quickly began the last preparations with Tails sending T-Pup flying to see if he could check anything inside the base.
"Alright everyone, we all have to be extra stealthy right now," said Sonic giving the last orders "I'm pretty sure if Egghead knows we're here then he can send Sally flying away and- are you wearing a sweater?" he asked to Amy.
"Well, yeah, it's cold out here! Aren't you?"
"Eh, it could be worse- yo, Tails! What about the multi-dimensional thingy?"
"Oh, yeah, right! Nicole managed to make this hand-held with some of her nanites and all the 'excluding evil Sonics' thing should already be done we would just need to put how many… I don't think we can do anything more".
"Yeah, anyway, we may win this time and that thing probably won't be used".
Sonic, Amy, Tails and the A.F.F were going to go together as an entire group until T-Pup arrived from his little expedition barking as if he was in a hurry.
"Woah, slow down buddy, what's wrong" said Tails.
The dog displayed through its eyes a detailed but small 3D projection from inside the Death Egg that showed some sort of machine that seemed to be designed to hold something in the middle of it.
"Sonic, look at this".
Sonic checked the map only to feel a light sense of déjà vu being hit by a random spark of worry.
"Was Eggman nearby?" he asked to T-Pup with the robot nodding "Hm… this doesn't look good".
"Why? What's wrong?" Amy asked.
"If my memory's correct then this could potentially the start of another 'white-out' attack".
"Another white-out?" said Tails confused but quickly remembered the special disorientation minutes before Sally was robotized.
"Then we have to be even quicker!" said Guntiver, the wolf leader from the A.F.F.
"I agree," replied Sonic with signs of frustration "But this time is a crucial one and I really don't want it to be ruined by Egghead trying to play the 'make-your-own-world' again".
"So how do we stop him?" asked Flip Penguin.
"By creating our own little wave".
"Are we seriously going to use it?" asked Tails surprised "You said seconds ago that-".
"Yeah, yeah, I know but we created this as a last-option solution and maybe this is that last option".
"But Sonic," added Amy "We originally came up with this idea as a way to help our lack of help and now we're using them as a counter-attack?"
"I know but-".
"Um… hello?" interrupted Augustus the Polar Bear "Gotta hurry? Out of time?"
"The big boy's right," Sonic said "The plan stays the same but T-Pup should stay as a lookout, Tails can stay in a place where he and the dimension-gizmo can be safe and warn us if anything goes wrong… He can warn you right?" he asked to Tails.
"Yeah," the fox replied "Anyways we should be ready for when Ermia disables the main defenses".
"Alright Team Fighters, and Freedom Fighters," said Sonic "Let's do it to it!"
Once the main gate opened it indicated the group that they were ready to go in, having to move as fast as they could if they wanted to make some progress before being inevitably spotted by Eggman.
And what can I say? It was a pretty usual raid when it comes to Sonic with some badniks to smash and… going through an underwater tunnel but maybe that isn't that common, or having to fight against a pod of killer whales in the water as well.
But the rest of it was going pretty smooth, with very little sign that Eggman had spotted them.
"Hm…" said Sonic after 'cleaning' an area "This is enough resistance but I feel like he's got something- T-Pup?"
"I haven't got anything yet, but he's still out there" said Tails through a mic after checking his notepad.
The moment was quickly interrupted by the incoming attack of a familiar 'foe', Mecha Sally. It would be an emotional fight if they hadn't done this before, whether they liked it or not they all had to learn to stop pulling their punches because she wasn't gonna make it either… And they had also learned that this Sally wasn't being her, anything she said was and would never come from her.
"Sonic! She's here!" warned Amy right when Mecha Sally came into scene.
The robot quickly charged against Sonic pinning him to a wall by the neck to hold him.
"Okay," said Sonic gasping for air "This is enough resistance".
Amy watched this as an opportunity as she decided to smack her down with her hammer but Sally was able to notice it soon enough to grab the weapon and counter-attack by throwing her into the opposite side of the room while still holding Sonic.
Guntiver quickly tried to give back Sonic the upper hand by grabbing Sally by the neck freeing the hedgehog.
"Alright! Keep her like that!"
Sonic charged up his spindash ready to knock Sally out just enough so they could transport her back to Mobotropolis. And after enough struggles by Guntiver and a few "gentle" but strong spin-dashes, Mecha Sally was disabled and out of commission.
"She was barely moving and still was strong" said the wolf.
"Don't let it get to your head, big awoo!"
Suddenly through the mic a desperate transmission came from Tails.
"Sonic! I am getting a warning! Do I activate it?!"
The news hit Sonic like a truck or a truth that no one wants to hear. They were close to rescue Sally and bringing beings from another world wasn't that of a necessity but of course Eggman couldn't stay quiet in one place, he just had to find something new to play with.
He was really hesitating until he began to feel everything being slowly consumed by a white light, Eggman had already pulled this off one time and that experience was not a pretty one.
"Now, Tails! Do it now!"
After selecting 'one' other Sonic, Tails pushed the button right as he was too feeling the white-out hoping for the best.
And we leave it here! So yeah, this is the Super Genesis Wave that reseted the multiverse but in this version it's going to be... stopped? We'll see... Also for those who have read the comic, you may have noticed that a certain character was missing from the action (it's Silver), don't worry that will have its explanation when the time comes.
The Artic Freedom Fighters are not going to be relevant in this story, so I didn't went into major details to not get you attached to them but I didn't wanted them to get completely shoehorned because they were in the OG story
