Weiss is sleeping soundly in her bed. Her eyes then flutter open and she stretches her arms above herself, yawning, while Ruby, dressed in her strangely-colored school uniform, creeps up on her side and suddenly blows a whistle, causing Weiss to fall off the bed.

"Good morning, team RWBY!" Ruby announced.

"What in the world is wrong with you?!" Weiss angrily yelled.

Ruby ignored the question. "Now that you're awake, we can officially begin our first order of business."

Weiss gets up and brushes off herself.

"Excuse me?" She asked incredulously.

Yang appears while holding a collection of objects such as pillows, pamphlets, a candle holder all in her arms, also dressed alongside Blake.

We're decorating!" Yang exclaimed.

"What?!"

"We still have to unpack," Blake said when suddenly the suitcase she was holding opened up, spilling its contents. "Aaaand clean."

Weiss did not look enthusiastic, especially when Ruby knocked her back again with the blow of her whistle.

"Aaaalright! Weiss, Blake, Yang, and their fearless leader Ruby have begun their first mission!" Ruby announced while raising her fist into the air. "Banzai!"

Blake and Yang come to the sides of Ruby.

"Banzai!" They shouted while Weiss laid on the ground exasperated.

*Meanwhile at the dorm of Team KAAB...*

Kamikaze is sleeping in a bed with black sheets and a cover of the same color, dreaming of a flock of sheep jumping over a fence.

Suddenly, Ben crept up to Kamikaze with a megaphone in his hands. Taking in a deep breath, he then yelled into the megaphone.

"WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD!"

"AAAHHH!" Kamikaze yelled, launching himself off the bed into the ceiling in alarm and pain.

Ben began laughing uncontrollably until he got punched in the head by an annoyed Alma causing him to fall to the ground.

"Try that stunt again and I swear I will rip you into pieces!"

"Yes ma'am!" Ben replied, scared out of his mind.

After those shenanigans were done with, Team KAAB got ready and dressed for class. Kamikaze checked the time to see it was currently 8:00.

"We're pretty early, which is rare but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth."

"Drake and Momonga's teams have already left for class," Alma said.

"I am not surprised, Drake and Momonga are the most punctual of our team." Arcee said.

"I wonder who would have the dubious honor of arriving late on the first day of classes." Ben wondered.

*Back at Team RWBY's dorm...*

"Allllright! Our second order of business iiiiiiiis...! Classes..." Ruby said as she took out a pencil and began writing up a plan. "Now, we have a few classes together today. At 9, we've got to be-"

"What?! Did you say 9:00?" Weiss asked in alarm.

"Uuuum…"

"It's 8:55, you dunce!"

Weiss was the first to leave, rushing out of the room and going down the hall, the members of RWBY and JNPR peeking out from their doorways to look at her. Ruby was flabbergasted before regaining control of herself.

"To class!" She shouted.

Ruby runs out, followed by Yang, and Blake.

Jaune is confused.

"Class?" He asked.

Jaune suddenly loses his balance and ends up toppling Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren on top of him. He manages to get out from under them and start dashing to class.

"We're gonna be late!" Jaune yelled in a panic.

In the courtyard, Professor Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch watch the two teams hurry through the school. Glynda looks at her watch, and Ozpin simply sips his drink.

*Later*

The sight of an Axe-Blunderbuss hybrid pans down to the boards displaying various species of Grimm - King Taijitu, Death Stalker, Beowolf, Boarbatusk, Nevermore, and Ursa - behind Professor Peter Port.

"Monsters! Demons! Prowlers of the night! Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as prey! Ha-ha!" Port lectured using theatrics to exemplify his points.

"That guy is full of himself." Team Infinity collectively thought.

Kamikaze was pretending to listen to the lecture, Ben was daydreaming, Ollie was drawing pictures of Grimm, Travis was staring at Yang and Smith was on his phone. Drake, Alma, Arcee, Samantha, Momonga, Toshi, and Yuki were the only ones taking notes.

The members of RWBY were seated on the front row, and were also in varying stages of interest; Blake and Yang were sitting up and paying attention, Weiss was taking notes, and Ruby had her head propped in her hand as she takes a quick nap until she is woken back up by Port's bad joke, which receives a cricket-filled silence as a result.

"And I thought my jokes were bad!" Ben said.

"Uhhh…and you shall too, upon graduating from this prestigious academy! Now, as I was saying: Vale, as well as the other three kingdoms, are safe havens in an otherwise treacherous world! Our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear you to pieces! And that's where we come in. Huntsmen! Huntresses." Port explained.

He then gives Yang a wink, which she groans in disgust at, and Travis notices causing him to frown at Port.

"Individuals who have sworn to protect those who cannot protect themselves! From what, you ask? Why, the very world!" He continued.

"Yeah!" Ollie says excitedly while jumping off his seat before realizing nobody else was sharing his excitement and sat back down awkwardly.

Port continues ignoring what just happened.

"That is what you are training to become. But first: A story. A tale of a young, handsome man... Me! When I was a boy…"

His words fade into the background and into a series of "blahs" when Weiss notices Ruby is very focused on penciling the paper in front of her.

"Despite smelling of cabbages, my grandfather was a wise man. 'Peter', he told me…"

Kamikaze yawned while Port told his story.

The speech evolves into more "blahs" as Ruby chuckles at her creation and shows it to her teammates: a ball-with-limbs-and-a-head drawing of the teacher with stink lines coming from him and "Professor Poop" written underneath. Ruby blows a quick raspberry. Blake and Yang laugh, but Weiss looks annoyed.

"Ah-heh-hem!" Port grunts as he waits until he has their attention again.

"In the end, the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity, and I returned to my village with the beast in captivity and my head held high, celebrated as a hero!" He concludes.

"Port loves to embellish his stories, he did the same in my homeworld." Arcee said.

"I would have paid more attention if he wasn't so boring!" Ben complained.

"Yeah!" Smith agreed.

The teacher takes a bow as Weiss slowly gets more and more frustrated with Ruby's antics.

"The moral of this story? A true Huntsman must be honorable!" Port said.

Ruby is balancing an apple on a book with her pencil held only by her finger while making a silly face.

"A true Huntsman must be dependable!" He continued.

Ruby has fallen asleep again in the first class of the year while Kamikaze drops all pretense of listening and does the same.

"A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!"

Ruby then wakes up quickly and begins to not-so-subtly pick her nose, much to Weiss' building anger.

"So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?" Port asked.

Weiss is still angry when she suddenly raises her hand.

"I do, sir!" She stated.

"Well, then, let's find out!" He said.

He turns to gesture at the glowing red eyes surrounded by shadow shaking the cage that traps it.

"Step forward, and face your opponent!" Port announced.

Weiss Schnee is now back in her regular attire, readying her Myrtenaster at the growling creature in the cage. Her teammates cheered her on from their seats in the front row while Team Infinity and the rest of the calls watched.

"Oh boy I remember this..." Arcee said as she had a recollection.

"Weiss is emotionally unbalanced." Momonga noted.

"This might not end well." Travis said.

Yang Xiao Long is raising her fist.

"Go, Weiss!" Yang cheered.

Blake was waving a small flag saying "RWBY." "Fight well!"

"Yeah, represent Team RWBY!" Ruby shouts out.

Weiss Schnee got more annoyed as she lowered her sword and looked over at her leader.

"Ruby! I'm trying to focus!" She glowered

Ruby looked sheepish. "Oh, um sorry…"

"Alright!" Port said while standing next to the cage, pulling out his weapon Blowhard. "Let the match... begin!"

The professor swings down his weapon and breaks the lock, dropping the cage door and revealing the Boarbatusk inside, which immediately charged at Weiss. She quickly used Myrtenaster to deflect its attack and roll to the side, readying herself for its next move. The Grimm stood a distance away from its enemy, studying her.

"Ha-ha! You weren't expecting that, were you?" Port commented.

"I think he's enjoying this too much," Arcee said, looking at Port.

"Well, he's been in the game a long time, so I guess he's allowed to have fun." Toshi pointed out.

"Hang in there, Weiss!" Ruby said.

Weiss was now speeding towards the oncoming Boarbatusk, sticking her blade straight at its skull until they meet and Myrtenaster is trapped in the beast's tusks. Weiss was still hanging on to the hilt and was tossed around as she struggled to get the rapier back.

"Bold, new approach. I like it!" Port commented again.

"Come on, Weiss, show it who's boss!" Ruby said.

Weiss turns to glare at Ruby, only for the Boarbatusk to turn its head and rip the sword from her grip. Myrtenaster lands far away from its master, who is knocked back by the creature's tusks.

"Oh-ho! Now, what will you do without your weapon?" Port asked.

Weiss looks up just in time to see the Boarbatusk charge again, rolling out of the way just in time to avoid getting trampled and making it crash into a desk. Weiss rushed for her sword and did a slide to get it back in her hand.

"Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-" Ruby said, trying to help her teammate.

"Stop telling me what to do!" Weiss snapped.

Ruby looks hurt at Weiss' rebuttal.

"That's rude!" Ollie said in disapproval.

"Listen to your leader Ice Queen, she is telling you how to beat this Grimm!" Arcee yelled angrily.

"Shut up! I don't need any help!" Weiss shouted.

Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and landing on the ground, consistently gaining speed until it launches itself at Weiss. It comes closer and closer, but Weiss activates one of her Glyphs and blocks the roll, leaping up into the now-black snowflake symbol and turning it blue again so she can drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach. It squeals and falls silent while Weiss gasps in relief.

"Bravo! Bravo! It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress-in-training!" Port said as Weiss stands up at attention from her exhausted position and Ruby continues to frown.

"Jeez, Weiss needs an attitude adjustment," Ben said as he watched Weiss return to her seat.

"She is too prideful and snobbish." Kamikaze commented.

Drake was frowning as he thought about the events that recently unfolded.

"Okay we have enough time for one more demonstration, any volunteers?" Port asked.

"I shall volunteer myself, Professor," Drake said.

"Excellent! Please come forward." Port replied.

Drake walked down to the podium, making direct eye contact with Weiss. After taking a brief moment to change into his combat gear, he stood in front of a cage that Port had brought out.

"Ready? Begin!" Port said as he opened the cage door.

A Beowolf charged out of the cage towards Drake.

Drake sidesteps the Grimm's attack and unsheathes Yamato. As the Grimm turned around to attack again, Drake flash stepped and appeared behind the Beowolf with hands gripped on Yamato which was back in its sheath. The Beowolf then split in half and it's corpse dissolved into nothingness. Everyone with the exception of Team Infinity was left surprised at how quickly Drake killed the Grimm.

"I didn't even see him move." Blake said in surprise.

"How fast is that guy?" Yang asked, she was also in awe at what happened.

"That was so cool!" Ruby said.

Weiss was silent as she was too stunned to say a word. Drake was swift and efficient, he wasted no energy and killed the Grimm so effortlessly. She clenched her fists in frustration, Drake had outshined her.

"That was excellent but I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!" Port said.

Weiss glares and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates as Jaune watched her leave.

"Sheesh, what's with her?" He asked.

"Bitterness and entitlement," Arcee said as she shook her head.

The remaining members of Team RWBY look at each other with the same concerned expression.

Weiss is still storming off, but Ruby turns a corner and manages to catch up with her.

"Weiss!" Ruby yells after her.

Weiss turned around. "What?"

"What's wrong with you? Why are you being-?" Ruby said.

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with YOU?" Weiss said angrily. "You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!"

Ruby scoffs at what Weiss said.

"What did I do?" She asked.

"That's just it - you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!" Weiss shouted as all her anger and frustration boiled over.

"Weiss, where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about 'working together'? I thought you believed in acting as a team." Ruby said, saddened.

"Not a team led by you. I've studied and trained. And quite frankly, I deserve better." Weiss said as she turned her back to Ruby. "Ozpin made a mistake."

Ruby looked down, feeling hurt before noticing Arcee behind her.

"That was totally uncalled for."

Ruby, who is looking doubtful, even on the verge of tears, turns to Arcee.

"Is she right? Did Ozpin make a mistake?" Ruby asks quietly.

"No Ozpin didn't make a mistake, in fact he made the right choice in my opinion." Arcee said, placing a hand on Ruby's shoulder.

"R-really?"

"Yes, listen Ruby there will be times like these when people criticize you but you have to rise above the hate and prove those naysayers wrong." Arcee said, smiling at Ruby.

Ruby's spirits are lifted after hearing those words of encouragement from Arcee.

"Thanks Arcee I needed that," Ruby said.

"You're welcome Ruby, I am always happy to help." Arcee replied.

Weiss is still walking around the halls until she comes across a balcony where Drake is watching the sunset over Beacon Academy's rooftops.

Weiss frowns and is about to go back when Drake turns around.

"Weiss, I have been waiting for you," Drake said seriously.

"Excuse me?" Weiss replied.

"I speak truthfully," Drake said as he approached Weiss. "I know what you are thinking right now."

"What? What are you talking about?" Weiss demanded.

"Stop trying to deceive me, I know you want to be the leader of your team," Drake said with a hardened look at Weiss.

Weiss becomes uneasy but then becomes defiant.

"It should've been me! I worked hard to get to this school, no one knows what I had to go through to follow my dream of being a huntress!" Weiss ranted as her body shook in anger.

Drake patiently listened and remained silent.

"So why did Ozpin choose an immature and inexperienced kid like Ruby to lead?" Weiss continued. "She is naive, she doesn't pay attention in class, she is always playing the fool and she doesn't have any leadership skills!"

Drake remained silent a moment before staring Weiss right in the eyes.

"Tell me what gives you the right to decide who should lead?"

"What?"

"You think you have the qualities to be a leader? I don't think so, you have a horrible attitude. You are entitled and expect everyone to do your will." Drake continued.

"What how dare-" Weiss objected before Drake silenced her by raising his hand.

"All I see is a spoiled child crying because she didn't get what she wanted." Drake said.

"Y-you-!" Weiss said angrily.

"And you just proved my point."

Weiss is shaken by Drake's words and realizes how she was behaving.

"If you continue on this path then I can tell you with utmost certainty that you will never earn any admiration or respect," Drake said. "Being a leader is more than just having a title, a leader leads by example and you have just convinced me with your actions that you are unfit to lead anyone."

He walked past Weiss, stopping to give her one last word of advice.

"You want to prove yourself? Start by focusing on your flaws and fixing them."

Weiss is left speechless in the hallway.

Later a full moon shines over the green lights of Beacon, and in the room of Team RWBY, the door opens and Weiss' shadow is seen against the hall's light. Blake is sleeping under the covers, Yang is spread out on her bed and snoring, and when Weiss lifts the blanket of Ruby's tent, she finds the occupant with her head resting on notes, a pencil in her hand, and open books all around her. Weiss, looking amazed at Ruby's determination, clears her throat and gently shakes the other girl awake, who takes a second to regain consciousness and start flailing in surprise.'

"Weiss! I-I was studying, and then I fell asleep! I'm sorry…" Ruby muttered.

Weiss places a hand over Ruby's mouth and puts a finger to her own so Ruby understands the need for lowering her voice. Weiss looks near Ruby's pillow and spots an empty Beacon coffee mug.

Weiss lowers her hand.

"How do you take your coffee?" She asked.

Ruby is unsure.

"I... I don't…" She muttered.

Weiss gets irritated.

"Answer the question!" She demanded.

"Uhh, cream and five sugars!" Ruby said quickly.

Weiss sighs.

"Don't move." She instructed, she then ducks under to her own bed and comes up a moment later with a fresh cup, offering it to Ruby.

"Here."

Ruby takes the cup.

"Um... Thanks, Weiss." Ruby says..

Weiss smiles, then looks apologetic.

"Ruby, I think you have what it takes to be a good leader." She said ruefully.

Ruby smiles appreciatively at Weiss's words.

"Just know that I am going to be the best teammate you'll ever have!" Weiss continued.

They share a smile.

"Good luck studying!" Weiss said.

She ducks under, only to come up and point at one of Ruby's papers.

"That's wrong, by the way." She commented before she ducks under again, and her voice comes from the doorway this time.

"Hey, Ruby?" Weiss asked.

"Uh-huh?" Ruby replies.

Weiss is standing by the door with her hand on the knob.

"I always wanted bunk beds as a kid," she said as she started to close the door.

Ruby, grinning at the progress with her friend, goes back to her notes.

*Elsewhere in the dorm room of Team DOTS...*

Drake and Travis are still awake while the other members of their team are asleep.

"So I couldn't help but overhear you giving Weiss the honest truth using our psychic link," Travis said as he laid in his bed.

"I merely did what any decent person would do, nothing more nothing less," Drake replied.

"True but I have a feeling that your words got through with her." Travis said.

"I still have hope for her." Drake said.

"Sounds like someone has a crush." Ben teased, psychically intruding on the conversation.

Drake glared at Ben through the psychic link, scaring away the latter who quickly disconnected.

Travis is laughing at this while Drake simply shakes his head and goes to sleep.
