Chapter-11 - First Day Assessment
The final preparations were being implemented into our new Universe Cruisers, most of the work now was just people furnishing things with Capsule Corp technology, filling food and water reserves, and anything else needed for extended stays in space. At this point, it would be another 6 or so months until the ships were fully finished.
Everything is designed and specifically made for our ships, apparently that took a while. There were also a few problems getting the Capsule technology implemented as the size of the ships in conjunction with the Ki projection arrays for the shields, Bulma just needed time to get a better handle on the size of the ship before implementing that technology.
Bulma and I were currently in our little mini-command center where we take most of our breaks in, it sort of overlooks part of the ship hangar.
"Have a name yet kiddo?" Bulma asked, now inhaling some type of vanilla-smelling vape pen instead of a cigarette.
"Hmmm, something feminine and powerful, or silly," I said.
"I could see you talking something silly," Bulma said with a smirk.
"Chiyo's Awesome Starship!?"
"Princess Chiyo's Sanctuary?" Bulma returned.
I laughed at that one, "You are just checking to see if it will be available, Princess Bulma's Sanctuary...isn't it?"
"Well I have a cruise ship named 'Princess Bulma' already, and since you are actually a princess now...it would be tacky," Bulma said while deep in thought.
"It's weird, being a princess, I guess it's a good thing I am not out in public much, but poor Gohan has a much more difficult time dealing with fans and paparazzi..."
"Yeah, he will have to get used to it if he is really going to become king, did you really get offered the job first?"
I smiled a bit but shook my head, "Not really, and technically neither has Gohan, yet. I was able to convince King Furry that I would be more effective as our face to the rest of the universe, including Gods, especially since I know which ones are which. Plus after he saw the Majin Buu fight...well, they can't have, someone like me as a Queen."
Bulma looked at me for a minute before sighing, "Girl, you gotta let what happened with Majin Buu go, you did what you had to do, didn't you?"
I looked down as guilt welled up within my chest, "I haven't killed anyone before...I know he would have gone on a rampage if he was able to be released like the Kai's wanted, I know that. But, damn...I just wish I had my dad's ability to turn people to his side."
Bulma snorted, "Honestly kiddo, that is definitely something to work towards, but he wasn't able to do so either. Even Vegeta said that Majin Buu was the strongest person he had ever faced. Also, I think there might still be a chance to do that with some others."
I raised my eyebrow, curious as to what she meant before I felt Goten and Trunks' Ki-signatures coming, "Incoming little guys."
"Ciyoooo!" "MOOM!" Goten and Trunks yelled as they flew through the hangar.
"Hey, you two! Whatcha doin'?" Bulma asked.
"We brought you both lunch! Mom said you two are working too hard and she made Trunks and I bring some bento boxes!"
"Awwww, thank Goten! You guys are the best!" I squeezed my cute little brother in a big sis hug.
Bulma patted Trunks on his head after kissing his cheek, "Thanks, Trunks, you are the best."
"N-no problem Mom!" Trunks said as he began to fly away, blushing furiously.
"Wait Trunks! I gotta go Chiyo! Mom says Dad needs food too!" Goten said.
"Alright little buddy, thanks again, be safe out there. Bye, Trunks!" I said.
"B-bye Chiyo!" Trunks said and the little tornadoes of destruction flew off.
"Those two are just the cutest," I said.
Bulma laughed, "You spoil them."
"Hmph, you do too."
Bulma had called me one day and I used Instant Transmission to get to her location. I was surprised to be at the Ki-draining cells that she had installed under a part of Capsule Corp.
"Hey Bulma, what are we doing here?"
"Well, I told you that I wanted you to deal with something, well those somethings are getting annoying. Now that you are setting up your Z Force, these two should be your problem," Bulma gestured to two of the 5 cells.
I walked over to them where I could see inside each one and found Yamu and Spopovich, free of the Majin Curse since the 25th WMAT.
They both looked up at me, Yamu looked frustrated and Spopovich just looked bored.
"Hello, how are you two doing now you're free from the Majin Curse?" I looked back and forth at each of them and finally, Yamu spoke.
"I won't lie, we are both thankful you released us from that curse, it..." He looked down at the ground, "It hit both of us differently. I became some crazy person that couldn't stop seeing violence everywhere I looked and Spopovich here became an enraged berserker."
I nodded at that, still curious why they requested to see me, but I let him speak.
"I just have a few things to say, starting with thank you. You saved both of us from a rough fate, being some meatball's mind slave is a literal torture," Yamu said.
Spopovich nodded, his voice sounding much less dumb but still not sharp, "Yeah, thank you, Princess Chiyo, you have done us both a service."
"I understand that the Majin Curse works on your anger, greed, and passion to turn you towards Babidi's will. You were susceptible to it because both of you wanted to be stronger and that is the easiest part of the curse Babidi applied to you, I was able to remove it with my healing power. But I couldn't be sure how bad it would be to recover from that," I said.
They both nodded, Yamu spoke, "It wasn't easy."
He took a deep breath and gathered his will before speaking to me again, "Princess, would you please allow us to work for you as bodyguards, I know we can be of use to you."
I raised an eyebrow and shook my head, "Look, if I didn't stop you that day, you would have brutally beaten my future sister-in-law, and stabbed my brother. I don't care if you were mind controlled or not, that image doesn't make me feel comfortable watching my back...not to mention the power difference."
Both creased their brow in worry.
"Do you understand my reluctance to have you watching me or my family's backs when that is the case?" I asked.
They both shook their heads.
I sighed and thought for a moment, "Are you both getting enough to eat and drink?"
"Yea, we are fine," Yamu said even though Spopvich looked like he was going to say something.
I stared back and forth at them for a minute, "You know you both would have died that day, killed as inconsequential to Babidi's plan after stealing my brother's energy..."
They both looked resigned, but Yamu nodded, "I get that, they never seemed to care about us and why would they..."
I nodded, "Alright, I will give you a road to redemption, though it will not be easy, and there will be only one chance." I had spoken with King Furry about these dealing with powered prisoners, and he understood that there was a certain point where world destruction was on the table and had to be addressed.
He has stated that as far as powered criminals go, it would be my agency's problem to handle as they could not securely hold onto people like that. When we had been discussing future threats, invading armies, and wandering Gods, he was completely for me being in charge of it.
I laughed and told him of my containment cell ideas as well as other means including the Evil Containment Wave and even capital punishment. He agreed in every instance I explained so I had essentially full rights to deal with powered prisoners how I wish.
Of course, there were checks and balances in the form of Carina and my monthly reports, so it wasn't like I would be arresting people out of the blue, but I had the authority to detain people. That is why our prison cells will be deep underground and will also have the Ki-drinking metals to ensure that people don't get out.
Both prisoners looked up at me with hope, I could feel it in their auras, "It will involve a bit of time still in these cells as well, but there are three requirements before I will accept your service if you meet them then you will work for me until you I say you do not. These are not some happy restrictions for some paroled person, these are the requirements to be let out of prison at all for two powered individuals."
Looking at each of them in their eyes I felt their surface thoughts, Yamu was curious but trying to hide how much hope he felt at my words. Spopvich looked curious and worried, and like he didn't want to hope. Both also felt attraction which was when I pulled away from their minds.
Yamu spoke up, "What are the requirements?"
"The first is that I need you both to apologize to my brother, my future sister-in-law, even if nothing actually happened, that was your plan and it needs to be rectified. I will bring them by here in a month or so if I do not feel it was sincere...you don't leave until permanent prison cells are finished for you," They didn't feel worried about that so I took it as a good sign.
"The second is that I am starting an organization, it is fine if you want to serve me, but you will serve our planet first and foremost. You both, if you pass these tests will pledge yourselves to me, my family, and this world. That is how you survive going forward," I paused at those statements but both didn't seem against anything so far.
Yamu asked, "Like...butler's or something?"
"No, like Public protectors, you will serve in any capacity that I need or my organization needs. Be that cleaning floors or saving lives, is that a problem?" I narrowed my eyes at each and neither felt like that was a problem as they wanted to serve me anyway.
Both shook their heads.
I nodded, "Good, there is one last requirement that I need both of you to start working on, and that is training your mental capacity. You have only just stepped on the journey of Ki use and there are many aspects-"
I stopped talking when they looked confused, "Ah, I see. You were never told what the power that you were using is and assumed it to be part of the Majin Curse?"
"Yeah, I mean, we have both been fighting for years but none of us could fly or anything like that...before Babidi," Spopovich said.
I nodded, "Alright, then, this will be good. View these next months of captivity as an opportunity. You will both work together to understand the energy flowing within you, it is called Ki, it is essentially our latent life force that can be cycled through our bodies to enhance them. There are endless applications of this power, including strength, flight, faster reaction speeds, enhanced strength, and Ki-sensing abilities."
They were listening with rapt attention, "You are both currently some of the strongest people on the planet, and that puts you at less than one percent of my maximum power level," I let that sink in as both looked at me with wide eyes.
"So for the last requirement, I want you to learn how to sense Ki, how to control your anger, and to accept that if you want to move forward in this life that it has to be for the right reasons. Do you both accept these terms?"
Before they could answer I held up my hand, "Right now is the part where you are at a crossroads, you accept this deal, then you realize that if you step out of line and do something wrong, if you betray my family, organization, or world, then you will die. By my hand if I must. If you do not accept it, then you will stay imprisoned, as traitors to the Dragon World. Do you accept?"
This might be harsh, but so was being a Z Guardian, they looked into my eyes and I showed no hesitation about my will to end them should they attack my family again.
"I accept your offer, Princess," Yamu said first.
I looked at the big guy as he spoke, "Me too."
"Okay, you have your requirements and I want to see progress when I come back with Videl and Gohan. These three rules are your mantras for the future, you only hope to thrive, but if you cross any of us...it is death, Agreed?"
They nodded, "Agreed."
"Good, I will see you in a month or so." Harsh but necessary, I ordered 6 pizzas for them, as congratulations for accepting the opportunity.
After 5 more months of work, the new Z Force facilities had finally been finished and we were in the process of moving in. I had seen Spopovich and Yamu with Gohan and Videl. They both accepted their apologies and we moved forward, but I would deal with them in the second wave of Guardians.
My office was the same size as Carina's as I wanted her to be viewed as a second leader, and there was a door linking them. We also shared a wall that had windows overlooking the command center floor, allowing us to watch over everything that was happening.
It was a Wednesday, and the regular staff was moving in already, as the housing complexes were the first finished. By Monday we were hoping to be fully operational with our full administration staff ready to go.
We had our engagement and standard operation procedure manuals handed out to the staff and guardians already, it wasn't horribly long but it was pretty rough. Carina had been very thorough in finishing the manual. Our worldwide communications system also came with a nice upgrade from Bulma, as well as a few other features I wasn't even expecting.
The top feature I was excited about was a Solar System Radar, that tracks objects the size of a basketball or larger. This would be a fantastic feature for upcoming events, like when Sorbet shows up to summon Shenron from the dragon balls and bring back Frieza. I would not allow that to happen and this radar system would help.
I had gathered all of the staff minus the guardians, to a large briefing room where there was a fair amount of seating. This was not our Command Center but close to it, the new campus was beautiful and simple.
We had screens on the walls displaying the lists of our Guardians and basic power levels/rankings, all pre-testing of course. Tien and Piccolo were both here, receiving odd looks from everyone, but they would be my primary trainers, so they needed to be here for meetings with the rest of the staff as well, though I would be pretty lenient as far as their attendance.
"Alright, everyone! Thank you so much for helping the last few months, and especially the last week with the final preparations. We are officially moved in!" I said, and received a round of applause from the 50+ people in the room.
"Great, so I have met most of you, but just in case I haven't, I am Director Chiyo, and this is my number 2, Carina Florez. Feel free to bring problems to either of us, we have an open-door policy. As far as bringing the Guardians in, that will be for Monday, when we will begin our training and official rank designations. Tien and Piccolo here are our trainers and will be leading the team's daily workouts and other stuff like that," I explained.
Someone raised their hand and I nodded at her, "Hello Director, Rebecca Voss here, leader of the Communications and Dispatch Team, can you speak on operational deployment logistics? I am only seeing around 4 jets in our inventory, how are we going to be deploying our Guardians worldwide without transportation?"
I smiled at her with a nod, "Ms. Voss, one of the base requirements of being a Guardian is the ability to fly, so that is why we haven't needed to invest in more than what we have so far. Some of us will have access to other types of movement as well. The abilities of our fighters will be something that takes time for us to adjust to. The entire next week will be training, not just for the Guardians, but our dispatchers and command center personnel will be learning our limits...also our chefs."
Rebecca Voss looked confused, "I'm sorry Director... are you saying that the Guardians have to provide their own aircraft?"
"Ah, no, I mean that we can fly," I lifted into the air easily and gasps went around the room. "You see this is first and foremost an agency filled with people of remarkable abilities. That is why this place has so many rooms that are off-limits. The environments that we train in are literally deadly to non-powered people, that is what today is for. Getting used to the facility, and how we will interact with powerful people," I used that as a segue into the much-needed safety talks now that everyone is thoroughly shocked.
I brought up a map of the facility behind me, and there were plenty of areas in red, including the large arena that floated in the center of our complex, "The technology that has gone into building these rooms and the arena's still very much classified. You all have signed NDAs for anything you see here. This is because everything we represent can be dangerous if used improperly or if in the wrong hand." I paused for dramatic effect, making eye contact with everyone. Slowly landing on the ground with grace wasn't the only thing drawing their attention, but my words as well.
"You are saying that if we go into these arenas in red we have a chance of dying?" A blond man in janitor's garb asked worriedly.
I sighed and shook my head, "No, I am saying that you WILL die if you enter those rooms while they are activated. They are all sealed with Guardian-level access and are completely off-limits for non-powered people, some of them will have up to 1000 times Earth gravity and will kill you instantly. Everything is well marked, and doors are set so that if you wish to enter a gravity room, you must first be able to open the door," I smirked slightly but I wanted to know how serious this could be. I would not have any lives lost from lack of attention.
We talked safety for a long time, and then I asked Piccolo and Tien to help with the next portion, "If you two would follow me, Carina would you lead everyone to the viewing room after you answer questions, and let's turn gravity up to the max at 10 times."
"Of course Director," Carina said, ever professional. This was the first time she called me Director since I was not acting in my capacity as a Princess. Every other time has been Princess or Lady Chiyo. I nodded in approval of that distinction though. Carina and I were close but she always maintained professionalism.
I walked out with Tien and Piccolo following and I heard Carina begin her briefing, "Alright everyone, this is definitely something you need to witness. Director Chiyo has shown me some of the abilities that many of the Guardians can use, it is going to be a lot to witness. Just know that everything is going to be alright..."
I looked over to Tien with an eyebrow raised and he laughed, "What do you expect Chiyo? Not everyone is used to the kind of things our group has seen."
I nodded, "True, but why did she make it seem like the world was ending or something?"
Piccolo laughed at that, "You will get used to it Chiyo."
"Fair enough, hey Tien, where is Chiaotzu?"
"Over at Capsule Corp, he was playing with Trunks and Goten for a bit, I think he wanted to avoid the meeting, he should be coming by soon."
I nodded at that, it was rare to see them apart, "What do you guys think so far?"
Tien spoke, "Hmm, I am curious to see where this goes. Lots of those people aren't used to our world, but they all seemed interested. I guess depending on their reaction to this little spar or whatever will be telling."
Tien, Piccolo, Carina, and I had met quite often to go over expectations, training plans, and rank designations as the huge facility was being built. We agreed on a system, but both Piccolo and Tien were surprised when I wanted to focus on more utility abilities, having martial arts as a secondary concern for people here. It doesn't mean we wouldn't practice them by any means, but saving lives will benefit more from alternate abilities.
Tien was surprised when I said I had plans to unlock his potential as a descendant of a Triclops and a human. I remember reading that Triclops was akin to a divine race or something, we will have to see if he can reach a Saiyan in power. Having him as a trainer was a boon beyond compare. He had an ability called Mimicry, allowing him to learn a fighter's technique by witnessing it only once.
This didn't apply to Spirit Control techniques like Instant Transmission or Healing, however. He was originally worried about martial techniques, or rather a distinction that will be taught here, but that was secondary in the basic program. I had them come up with a basic martial arts program that was more direct and
We have our higher-level guardians for serious martial arts threats. That being said, having the mental discipline cultivated from extensive martial arts is quite often the limiting factor on whether or not someone will be able to draw their Ki out. That also includes telepathic connections and thought-sharing.
Piccolo spoke up, "Hm, I like that you have goals for people of all levels, but I worry about how public everything is. It could be dangerous down the road."
I nodded at that, "True, but humans and beastmen have difficulties growing in strength without significant help. That isn't to say there aren't other threats, like the Red Ribbon Army that could potentially cultivate Ki warriors."
"You mentioned that before...another-" Tien was speaking but I cut him off.
"Shh, sorry, I don't mean to interrupt you but remember what I said about how and where information is released and that we need to get used to keeping sound barriers up or only speaking in private," I said.
Tien nodded, understanding the importance.
In the viewing room overlooking the main fighting arena that still hadn't been named, the staff of the Z-Force was watching the two Guardian Trainers and Director Chiyo flying into the center of the ring.
This arena was the size of a football field except ovular and was a solid alloy that contained a bit of the Ki-draining metal that had been reverse-engineered from Babidi's ship. It floated on a gravitational field and as soon as they entered the arena, a transparent white bubble shield completely surrounded the field.
It was all enclosed and was the main reason this building looked like a massive sports arena from the outside. It had a retractable roof but was currently closed, white lighting illuminated the room.
"As Director Chiyo said, you need to see it to believe it. This is the power that was used to defeat Cell, alongside Hercule and Chiyo's brother and father. Right now, I just activated the gravity field as well as the Ki Barrier. All three of them are under 10 times Earth's gravity," Carina explained.
"Ma'am?" One of the administration staff asked.
"Yes?" Carina asked, knowing the incoming question. He looked around as if gaging others before speaking, "She is really only 18... and she is running the organization? Do you have any concerns about her being so young?"
Carina nodded, she and Chiyo have been going over concerns that could be brought up and her age was one of the largest, "I was very skeptical at first when King Furry had explained that an 18-year-old young woman who had helped to save the world was going to be my new boss in developing an organization that fights Cell-level threats. I was surprised when I was expecting to meet some courtly princess and instead got a calculating and powerful woman like the Director. We have hired all of you but you were all approved by her, so I hope that you will earn her trust just as she earns yours."
The room was silent as their new Director was talking quietly to the two trainers, who were both strange in their own rights, one being a three-eyed man and the other being a green person that looked nothing like any beast man on the planet. Many people in the room would begin to equate these odd robes and martial arts clothing with people of power. Even the director wore a fairly revealing jacket stopping at her ribs, a sports bra underneath, with baggy martial arts pants. it was a strange outfit but she wore it well.
The Director turned and talked to them while floating up into the air, her voice coming through some speakers on the walls, "Alright everyone, just in case you didn't know, Tien and Piccolo here are our trainers for the Z Force. They are both extremely powerful and talented martial artists and they are going to put on a low-powered spar so you all can begin to get used to dealing with people like us. Let me officially introduce our Trainers then we can get started."
The room was slack-jawed in shock as they watched the floating princess, beauty and power were a terrifying combination that she had in spades.
"This here is Tien, Master of the Crane Style," The Director introduced.
Immediately he turned bright red, "Whoa, Chiyo, I don't know if I am a master or anything..."
The Director ignored the comment, "This here is Piccolo, a Namekian of great power, what is your fighting style?"
Piccolo scowled at the Director, but she seemed unfazed, and he sighed, "I don't really have a name for it anymore, but I guess you could call it an altered version of the Demon Clan Style, not sure what I would call it now, but I made it my own."
Director Chiyo nodded and signaled them to spar, and the two trainers met across from each other.
Tien spoke up first, "Am I not enough to make you remove the weights yet, Piccolo?"
Piccolo smirked, "Heh, long way to go yet, Crane Style."
"Oh, it's like that is it?"
They wasted no more time and blurred out of sight, crashes that seemed to replicate the destructive force of bombs began to ignite the whole arena, flashes of white and gold light. The force of each blow sent ripples through the massive bubble shield. The points of impact held an afterimage of the two trainers seemingly engaged in a stalemate, yet there were other clashes at the same time.
The entire viewing room was silent.
Putting a picture on the wall of my new office had Carina looking at me with a raised eyebrow. Goten and me flying through the sky on Nimbus on a beautiful sunny day, the other clouds were dazzling white masses that seemed like we were in another world... one made of clouds, sunlight, and blue skies.
"What?" I asked defensively.
"Director, are you sure you should have such a...well unique picture on display? It will cause people to ask questions," Carina asked.
"What's wrong with it?"
"You and your brother seem to be flying through the sky on a cloud?"
"Yup, I love this picture, I had Gohan take it, I swear Nimbus blushes whenever I compliment it, the cute cloud," I said with a genuine smile. "Nimbus is practically part of the family now."
Carina just shook her head, "Director..."
"Look, if you think this one is bad, that one over there is literally the house of the god of earth, it's called the Lookout, pretty neat huh?"
Carina looked over at the large framed picture of a huge floating structure. It had the huge shape of a white and gold palace on a massive white-marbled surface with trees and plants...and it was floating.
Carina just shook her head.
"How is everyone taking this? I know it has only been a couple days and our Z Guardians will be here on Monday, do you think they will be ready?" I asked, slightly worried. I had been using my Ki and spirit control to push a feeling of ease every time I am in the office. I remember in my last life that when a boss walked into a room everyone would get nervous and I wanted to change that.
Reading emotions was difficult, but when someone wasn't comfortable or at ease, it was noticeable in their Ki. Their auras would become agitated and you can almost feel their frustration. I had been practicing how to layer my own emotions through my aura and constantly projected an emotion of calm serenity that would hopefully put people at ease.
I was originally entering the office with a huge smile, but that seemed to scare people and make them nervous so I started to just slightly have an amused expression any time I entered a room with my employees. Nothing was routine yet, and we had meetings every day, so I was learning how to better control my emotions through the Ki Projection.
"Honestly, it was a fantastic call only bringing in you, your family, and the Trainers for now. Having them get used to you all training was much easier when your Mom makes food when Goten and Trunks are flying through the air playing, and when you and your brother spar with no hostile intentions towards each other...it makes people feel better. This acclimatization period is really working out, and so far no one has quit," Carina said as she helped organize part of my office.
I nodded at her words, but I was still nervous. I tried my best to hide my emotions from Carina, but she was getting used to working with me and could see the subtle signs of worry, "Director, please don't worry. You are doing an amazing job, and all of this will just take time to get used to. To be honest, I am not used to it yet either, and we have teleported together a bunch of times. It's...a lot to take in."
"I know, I guess I am just worried about the larger implications. Seeing people fight in a tournament is one thing but knowing that there are people as strong as we are can be intimidating..."
"It is, but we also know how strong Cell was, he could have destroyed the planet. You showed me the video of all of you guys fighting Majin Buu, I don't even know how the camera kept up!"
"It was actually a device that the Supreme Kai had, some type of crystal ball and just using his Creation powers he turned it into a digital copy that we can watch...that's why we can see it so well," I explained while finishing the organization of my desk. Looking over to the command center, the window was the entire wall and the large illuminated room beyond was filled with people doing prep work for Monday.
She just shook her head, again.
Sunday night came along and we had just finished eating an amazing sushi meal, the cooks had to have been making this massive meal for hours, but that isn't surprising considering Bulma's tastes.
"Alright Chiyo, tomorrow your own organization officially starts off, are you nervous or excited?" Bulma asked, drawing my attention from my thoughts.
I smiled at her and many faces turned to see what I had to say, "I am definitely more excited, I was more nervous about the regular staff accepting me while being so young while dealing with powered people. But, Carina has been amazing in having my back on that. Tomorrow is going to be fun."
"Why is that?" Gohan asked, curiosity drawing him in.
"Tomorrow we assess where everyone is, their power, abilities, and how they are moving forward. Then we start training," I said with a devious smirk.
Gohan looked worried, but my dad was excited, "What do you have planned Chiyo!? I bet it's going to be great!"
"Don't look at me, we have one trainer right here...Well, Tien? What is training going to be?" I asked with my trademark smirk. Piccolo had gone back to the Lookout for the night, and Tien and Chiaotzu came by for dinner.
Tien smiled, "You will have to wait and see...Director."
We laughed, "Well Dad, you heard him!"
"Awwww.""
"Alright! Time for bed everyone! You all have a big day tomorrow, and my sweet daughter is going to be the best Director ever!" My mom said with stars in her eyes.
"Mom! I'm not directing movies..."
"I know! But still, I am so proud of you sweetheart! NOW GO TO BED!"
I woke up with a smile splitting my face. I showered and reminisced at the fact that since I had unlocked Divine Ki my body had completely changed. For one, I didn't have to go to the restroom at all anymore...my body took care of it. I hadn't gone in a year now. Also, I no longer had to shave, I just sort of willed hair to not grow in places and it just didn't.
I wonder how much that will affect my life span, growth, and other things. I haven't been sick once since I came to this world and I had a feeling it would have to be some kind of horrible disease to do anything to me now. Divine Ki really changed things, our whole power scaling was essentially made worthless.
We can fly at insane speeds, crossing the planet in minutes, and I have a feeling that we can go even faster with a different focus on Ki. That was for another time though. The abilities that come with Divine Ki were vast, but the changes it had were permanent and immediate.
Today was all about assessing our current status as the Z Force. I couldn't wait, and I had to stop myself from sending excitement to my brother or reaching out with my Ki Sense to see who showed up to work first. Having powers gives you odd urges.
I ate breakfast at a record pace, still not keeping up with my dad.
I jumped on Nimbus while my Dad, Gohan, Krillin, 18, and Vegeta were ready to fly off to the Z Force Campus. I just loved riding Nimbus and took every chance I could to sit on the amazing soft cloud. Nimbus loved our family and any chance the golden cloud could interact with us, it would. I started to offer some of my Ki to it and it seemed to love it, so I just sort of fed the cloud?
As we left Goten and Trunks jumped on Nimbus with me, "Hey you two, come here!" I pulled them into my lap into headlocks. Trunks blushed and Goten laughed.
"Haha Chiyo! Stop!"
I giggled and off we flew, I know Nimbus will get them home safe, not that many people could harm a Saiyan so they might as well come with.
When we arrived, most of the staff was out front waiting as they wanted to see all of us fly in. I waved to my little brothers (Trunks and Goten both) and flew down to the crowd of people while they headed back home.
"Alright, everyone! Ready to start our first day at the Z Force?!" I asked.
"Yeah!""Let's do it!""Alright!" A myriad of responses came but all were positive.
The Administration and Communications staff were all in place as the Z Guardians took the floor. Each one of us had new gear, customized to the fighter. Anyone who wanted a symbol on their Gi's, Jackets, or weird alien shoulder things, got it.
I just made sure that they had our stylized 'Z' on a shield on display somewhere. I let them keep their own color schemes if they wanted, but we still provided weighted clothing for everyone, as well as a second training set, a patrol set, and a few sets of underwear. All was the enhanced material, I made sure of it.
We took to the arena and all of the Guardians were standing close to the viewing room, leaving the larger part of the field open. I floated just above the metal surface with Piccolo and Tien next to me.
"Alright, so today is all about assessment before we get into training. We are going to need a few bits of information from everyone as well as proof that we can all do the main three requirements to be a Guardian of the Z force. They are Ki Sense, Ki Manipulation, and Flight. Obviously, I know you can all do those, but we just need to see it for everyone here," I explained.
"So I will start off so you have an idea of what we are looking for. I don't need your entire list of abilities, I am essentially looking for 1 to 3 good ones that you have mastered or will work on, okay?"
"What are the categories?" Krillin asked.
"The first is Ki Attacks, it is good to have a few different options, for instance, Krillin you have a plethora of abilities, but what we want here is for you to list three that you can really focus on. Maybe your Destructo Disc, Kamehameha, and... I don't know some other Ki attack, that will be up to you when it is your turn," I explained.
"Next category is the broadest, which is Utility powers. These are arguably the most important for most of our daily operations and will be the ones that we work on to expand more than master," I said.
My dad raised his hand and I nodded at him, "Hey Chiyo, what do you mean expand versus master?"
"I mean that it will be more beneficial to learn a lot of different utility powers than just focusing on mastering the use of a couple. Essentially the opposite approach to the Ki Attacks category."
He still looked confused, "What sort of abilities would these include?"
"For utility, things like Instant Transmission, After Image Technique, and Kaio Ken would be great examples of your Utility powers."
"Ohhh! Okay! Alright Chiyo, you first then!" Goku said.
I looked up to the Control room, one floor above the Viewing room where our main operations were held, "Alright, Ms. Voss, are you receiving?"
"We are all green up here Director, ready for your first Assessment when you are," Rebecca Voss said, our head of communications said.
"Great, first I will use my three Ki attacks, my weakest one here I have been thinking of as 'Pointed Strike', Ms. Voss can you give me a target across the way, please?"
The huge bubble shield was up since we started talking, but Ms. Voss replied, "Of course, Director."
A small bubble, the size of a soccer ball, appeared across the area, and the far end of the floating metal platform lifted into a sort of break wall for ki blasts. I charged my single pointed finger and a golden beam of light spiraled through the ball of energy and smashed into the metal floor. It barely left a line.
"Chiyo, that was spiraled like the Special Beam Cannon!" Gohan said.
"I figured that with a lower power threshold, it would still benefit from the spiral effect for just a simple blast," I shrugged, I will fully admit I loved that attack Frieza uses, but I needed to make it my own a bit by adding the spiral effect.
I forced the energy to spiral giving it a bit more piercing power. The beams were very fine, but still larger than the control that Frieza had.
Tien looked thoughtful, "It's like a non-heated Dodon Ray."
18 looked bored, "It's just a Finger Beam, with a spiral. You can do better than that Chiyo." She had her own smirk on.
"Just remember that we are not allowed to release high-powered blasts in the arena, so remember to do just the bare minimum as far as power!" I tried to remind them.
"My next Ki Attack is my Spirit Clone Fighting!"
"That isn't an attack! That is a means of fighting! Clearly a utility skill!" Vegeta of all people said. Standard fury present.
"Fair enough. I can use a Kamehameha, but my third attack is something I haven't shown anyone just yet," I said while charging Ki.
I noticed that the more pressure exerted on Ki the more of a chance it will spark into a plasma-type of Ki-lightning. It is what causes the sparks at the higher end of Super Saiyan, and I figured out how to use it consistently.
It's about rapidly condensing energy and holding a spark to ignite lightning. At least that is the description of how it feels. It looks different in practice.
I pushed my hands together, a ball of Ki condensing rapidly, I forcefully smashed the Ki into a swirl that caused the spark in the right place, just in front of the ball. I could then project my Ki through the spark and it sends out lightning to a target based on my will. It will go random if I do not control it.
Forcing my Ki through the spark, a massive blue beam of crackling lightning shot out. It was one of those strikes that had such speed that when it connected, it was hard to tell which side the beam came from like it materialized already striking the targeted orb. It pierced the orb and cause the energy orb to explode.
I turned back to see people looking at me like I was crazy, "Chiyo! You...just controlled lightning!?" My dad screamed with excitement.
"That's right! Call it Ki Lightning, Ms. Voss," I said to the control room.
"Got it!"
Yamcha leaned over to Tien, "Man these Saiyans, huh?"
Tien laughed.
"Alright for my Utility Skills, I have Instant Transmission, which you all experienced," I nodded to the control room as I had shown a few of my abilities. "I also have Solar Flare, After Image Technique, Spirit Clone Fighting, and Ki Emotion Sharing."
"Okay, can you describe some of these, Director? You only showed us Instant Transmission and Ki Emotion Sharing," Ms. Voss said over the speakers.
"Yeah, After Image Technique is this-" I disappeared, leaving some Ki to hold my image in the air. "There are a few different ways of doing this technique," I said from another location, "One of which is through constant movement, another like what you just saw is from lingering luminescent Ki."
"Talk about Spirit Control!" Vegeta demanded.
I raised an eyebrow at him but he looked away with a huff, "Alright, Spirit Control focuses on literally controlling your Spirit through your Ki. My dad learned this the hard way through going to Yardrat and learning Instant Transmission. That is one of the basic abilities but there are a plethora of other benefits, including better Ki Senses, the ability to make full-powered clones for a time, to enlarge or reduce yourself, or to even heal."
I gathered my thoughts then started again carefully, "My ability to heal was something that changed my Spirit Control in general. We all have a small basis for it, without which none of us could even use Ki, but when I...acquired my Ki Healing ability it sort of opened the floodgates to me better accessing Spirit Control. I then learned Instant Transmission by feeling my dad's ki as he went through the process- I have it written down as I taught Gohan how to do it. But it all comes from Spirit Control."
"Is that it?" Vegeta asked.
"I am not sure you understand that this is the basis on which we can grow, enhancing our foundations. With good Spirit Control everything you do becomes more effective. That is also how I am able to condense the Ki fast enough to lock a spark of Ki lightning into my attack there," I looked directly at Vegeta. "It is also what you have been missing."
"Tsch," He scoffed.
Krillin raised his hand, "Uhh, Chiyo what is Ki Emotion Sharing?"
I raised my eyebrow at him and laced a feeling of peace into my aura and spread my energy out. I could see people relaxing or even smiling slightly.
18 smiled at me and looked to Krillin, "What do you think?"
Krillin smiled also, "That's pretty neat Chiyo!"
I stopped it, "Yeah, it will be great for calming crowds I think."
On we went, testing abilities, showing utilities, and describing how we used our Ki. It was when Krillin went that I noticed something strange. I was floating off to the side as he charged his Destructo Disc. It was like an image overlay his form for a second - a being of white light with a golden halo behind him.
I frowned as it reminded me of something I would see in a mindscape. I looked over at Gohan who sensed my spike of interest, he raised an eyebrow at me.
"Did you see anything different while he was charging that?"
"No, nothing different, what did you see?"
"Hmm, I am not sure."
I didn't think about it again until Yamcha's turn.
He had the Wolf Fang fist which he could turn into a blast, and when he charged it I saw the form of a wolf-man behind him guarding over him, I couldn't tell if this was something that only I could see, but then it became his power. His eyes went white and his power level went way higher as he punched forward appearing in front of a small orb target and blasted it with his fist. Strange that it was only Krillin and Yamcha that I saw something but I would need to focus on that later, maybe a human thing?
"Still got it, Yamcha?" Krillin asked with a smile.
Yamcha laughed nervously, "I definitely need some work...that took more energy than I thought it would."
I walked over a bit, "Good work Yamcha, so, that is your signature move?"
"Yeah, I am a little rusty, but I am sure it will come back."
"Don't worry Tien and Piccolo seem excited to get you back into fighting form," I said with a smirk while gesturing to Piccolo and Tien...they were smirking back.
Yamcha audibly gulped.
"Hey, would you do me a favor?" I asked Yamcha.
"Uh, sure Chiyo."
"Would you speak on the wolf fang fist a bit? I don't mean how you use it, but more the feel of it," I asked, trying to feel out of this would be what he sees in his mind space like I see the human form with red flames.
"Hmmm, like, how it feels to embody the wolf?"
"Yes! Would you speak on that a bit for me?" I asked, Piccolo stepped closer to listen and Krillin was paying attention too.
"Huh, well alright. I guess it sort of comes with a style, but it's about the feel of a wolf, the hunter's instincts, and the feeling of closing in on prey. I try to embody that when using my martial arts and more. I was able to create the Wolf Fang Fist by focusing on that and incorporating Ki," Yamcha said.
I nodded, "It seemed like more than just a Ki-enhanced punch, but rather a full power-up to all of your physical abilities and power threshold, have you tried to hold the energy to create a sort of battle transformation?"
"Huh, well it takes a lot of power...I haven't tried to hold it for long than just one punch or blast, it's really taxing," He said.
I nodded, "Alright, thank you."
He walked off and I nodded at my own thoughts. I know humans have potential, I just need to figure out how to unlock it.
