Chapter 12: The Ghost of You

Music: The Chemical Romance

On the way to their tent, Regina silently sobbed and Emma tried to do her best by comforting her since her skin was very cold because she was a vampire. There were no possible ways for her to heat Regina with her energy. But most of her people from her royal lineage all were the vampires for long time Since, Snow White was the first human who took a land to control until the tragic disaster came for her.

Snow White was the one who died as a human and rose as a vampire. Many people died because of her death and the land was destroyed by the powerful enchantress. She was the first one who rose in her throne and oversaw her land. Her rage against the enchantress went for years. Her hunting became keen to her talent and she decided to leave her old land to settle a new land.

Of course, Snow buried her people in the fire and she didn't want to see them again in a true form. So, she left the fire to burn everything in her castle and others included the village. There were many rumors to her side since Snow left the ground of her royal lineage. That's where she decided to leave her human dignity to the nothing she left behind.

Her travels went throughout the secret paths where she could hide from the human and didn't want to harm everyone's way out until David appeared in a human form and was being killed in front of her. Snow was hidden in her cloak and watched the battle between the fame muscle man and David in the huge duel.

Some of the people watched it as their mouth went into gasps and whispers around in the village. Snow felt nothing like them as she looked at David who was screaming at him when his punch went out at him. The bell rang as the birds fled away. The children looked up at the sky which it was mixed with the smoke from Snow's land. The pixie brunette woman looked up but she snarled at her knowing that someone was there in her old land.

But her eyes caught the blond man's eyes in their gazes. David was not paying attention to the last blow from the fame muscle man. He slowly whipped his jaw and the people at the village heard the crack in his neck. It caused him to die in a slow-motion. Snow looked at the people who were covering their faces to not scream. The fame muscle man barely breathed when he stared at the blond man who was gaping open with his eyes open on the ground.

Some children ran away to the source where the smoke was but their parents tried to stop them and followed them along until they reached it. The noise from the rocky path was very clear as the hoofs were echoing through the forest. Snow heard it immediately as the fame muscle man turned away to follow them along. It was her final plan to drag David away from the gazing eyes.

Snow struggled with her strength to pull David away from the village into the forest so she could have turned him into a vampire but the problem was that she didn't have a place to heal themselves. In her thoughts, it went into rage pace in her head as she looked out for the werewolves and any human form to come near them.

Her nose tingled as she was drooling for any blood. To be honest, Snow didn't know why she was alive and checked on her appearance as she found out that she was a vampire. A First Vampire. The pixie cut woman looked at him behind her back and checked that his eyes creeping her out. She dumped his legs onto the ground and closed his eyes. It made her feel relieved because she didn't want to be the one who was stared all the times.

As the sunset came down, Snow was exhausted to wander and carry David through the forest. She didn't know where to go but her old land was already buried with the raging fire. The smoke went into a small sight when Snow looked up at the dark sky and knew that she lost her land forever since her human family buried themselves into the ashes of the castle.

The sounds echoed through her ears as Snow looked around themselves to protect themselves at once. The sight of a huge wolf stepped into the moonlight and showed her half face. It was Ruby Lucas, Snow met her for the first time and Ruby was a half hybrid wolf. She growled as they sniffed each other's presences.

Snow didn't realize that her fangs were shown in the moonlight as they faced each other. Ruby sniffed the presence of the man lying on the ground. The pixie brunette blocked her immediately as her emotions went out of the control. Ruby roared louder as the birds fled away from the hidden forest. Snow looked up at the moon which it was a full moon. Her realization came immediately as the pack of the werewolves came in a crowd of the circle.

Ruby looked away at her alpha werewolf who was beside her. It was her grandmother, Eugenia Lucas. Her fur color was the grey and white. Her eyes glowed in a moonlight blue. To her opposite, Ruby was the maroon red and black. Her eyes glowed in the color of amber. Their voices opened and Snow was surprised that they could speak like the human voices.

"Who are you?" Granny was opening in her laid-back voice. She was the one who didn't care about the humans, vampires and any kind of supernatural in the forest even the villages. Because she was used to it and herself was the alpha wolf for the centuries. Most of the werewolves in about over 40 packs of werewolves had their respect for her. Granny was the one who turned the humans in the werewolf's form for many years. She had a control over anyone included their agreement between them.

"I'm Princess Snow of the White Kingdom. Who are you too?" Snow replied in a low voice. She snarled at Ruby because they growled at each other. Granny nodded and looked at her granddaughter.

"I'm Granny Lucas, you can call me Eugenia if you like. I'm an alpha wolf of all over 40 packs. So, what are you doing in my forest?"

"I'm hiding from the gazing eyes. And, to your werewolf form, I had been hearing many stories about you. You are the highest ruler of all over the forest. Also, for your question, I lost my land for the White Kingdom and it has been burning since I rose and still is alive." The pixie cut woman turned around to face other werewolves who were stepping forward for trying to trap her.

"How are you being alive?" Ruby demanded. Granny glared in her moonlight blue at her and looked over at Snow with a nod.

"I just died and immediately, I became a vampire. I didn't know when or how. I'm going to find a reliable source for why. Also, I want that man behind me to be alive and save him." Snow explained.

"Wait a minute, you don't know that you are a vampire." Granny asked.

"Yes, I didn't know until I woke up in the ashes of my castle. Everything ruined that I had in my castle. My family were murdered. I believe that I need some answers for myself." The red specked eyes were looking over her shoulder at Granny and Ruby. Other werewolves' ears were ringing and howling. Granny whipped her head at her guards and snarled.

"We have to hurry. I think that they are coming after us. Snow, follow me. Ruby, carry the man on your back. Go!" The werewolves howled and scattered to spread away. Snow nodded. Ruby grabbed the man's waist with her teeth and threw him on her back then followed them along. Others turned around and ran away.

The noise behind them were louder than Snow thought it would be. Granny sneaked a peek at the village and ran around the town. Snow ran in 5 seconds as the werewolves' speed were doubled. Ruby growled when she smelled the blood.

"Someone is coming after us." She queried as her ears were alerting herself. Ruby turned around to look through the forest with her glowing eyes. Granny heard her child's voice not far behind her. Snow was between them and looked at the werewolf who carried the man on her back and asked.

"What is it?"

"I feel the darkness coming. We have to be quickly before they catch us in the dark." Ruby called. Granny nodded and howled to alert others in the forest. Ruby growled then nose-dived Snow up into the air and grabbed her clothes to sit behind the man on her back. Granny nodded toward the forest to go ahead and stayed behind to see what's going on.

Snow embraced the man's body and tightened Ruby's leash to hold while they were running away. The werewolves were coming in to find them and ran together to their hidden place. Ruby roared to alert the guards who were in front of their place. The moonlight hit their furs to glow. Snow opened her jaw to take a breathtaking sight of the werewolves in their run.

Granny heard the footsteps in the shadows and turned in the human form. She held her cross-bow in her hands and tried to aim someone until the fire came out in the air. She dodged it away and looked at the shadow lurking in the dark. Granny yelled.

"Who are you hiding the shadows!? Come out and show your face."

"Oh... a feisty one, dear." The shadow lurked in the forest but her face was halfway showing in the moonlight. Her eyes were glowing in the dark maroon red and fangs existed in her mouth. Granny was bewildering at the appearance of her former friend.

Cora! The mentioned namesake tilted her head and laughed. She looked more beautiful than just a human form. Granny thought it would be awkward to meet each other once a time since their meeting when they were that young. The oldest werewolf almost put her weapon down but guarded herself. She used her ear to hear another werewolf howling to let her know that they are safe in the hidden place.

"How delightful am I to see you in your human form. So, how have you been?" Cora chuckled with a raspy retort. She stepped forward and her cloak was swaying onto the ground. Her clothes were like a royalty dress in a dark purple. She almost touched the boundary line between herself and Granny. It faced each other in the true form of themselves.

"I'm doing good but I'm getting old. What have you done to yourself? Last time, I saw you when we were the little girls. You were a human."

"Don't you dare to talk back, my dear. You see, I'm a vampire. Honestly, we saw each other when we were so seven." Cora voiced with a sneer. Granny put up her crossbow at her neck and replied.

"Well, I hate that kind of vampire and I'm daring myself to shoot you with a poison." The oldest werewolf smirked while eyeing on Cora's neck. It was very pale in the moonlight. Cora looked so white than before, she was a dark-skinned woman like a beach bikini girl who was running on the sand. Her hair was very shiny at this time but hers was the dull brown with the loose curls at the ends.

"That kind of vampire? Haha. You have to be specific on that. There are many vampires out there." Cora lastly asked with a laugh.

"Yes, that kind of vampire is your kind. The Diluculum." Granny sneered.

"Oh, Twilight. I have had been learning on the dead language, Latin. So, what are you?" The vampire talked back.

"The Legion."

"Ah, I heard the story about that pack. So, it is still a small pack."

"Why are you here, vampire?"

"I'm coming to retrieve my slave, Snow White. I believe that she fled away and took yours to be part of it. I can smell her."

"You can't. We own her already." Granny explained with her weapon aiming at the vampire but missed it. Cora caught the arrow in front of her face with her hand. She felt the blood on her hand when she grabbed a sharp arrow. It went into fire when she burned it away.

"I believe that it's a threat from you."

"Yes, it is. Stay away from my pack. Don't follow everyone else in my pack. If you step on the line, I will be guaranteeing myself to kill you for good."

"Oh. I must be scared. But, I will see you soon." Cora sneered with a smirk then vanished in the air. Granny wildly aimed around with her crossbow to make sure that no one came upon her then looked at the vacant space where Cora was there and transformed herself into an alpha wolf. She roared and ran throughout the wood.

Arriving at the sacred place, Granny transformed back into a human form as she walked. The werewolves were guarding the boundaries to watch out for threats. Ruby heard her grandmother's footsteps outside while she took care of the man on the cot inside. Snow was staying with him as she smells the blood from the village.

"Ruby, I'm here." Granny informed them as she came in the tent. Snow looked up at her with a sneer. The oldest grandmother stared at the man who was still in blackout then glanced over at the princess who was sneering at her.

"Quiet, Princess. I know you are hungry. Come on with me. Ruby, you handle?"

"Yes, Granny." The brunette werewolf nodded with her hand caressing on the wounds.

Snow immediately went out from the tent and looked at the werewolves who were giving her a glare. Granny patted her back and gestured toward the trail where they dumped everything beside their home. Snow followed her along until Granny voiced.

"Someone is coming for you."

"Who is it?" Snow demanded. Granny raised her eyebrows as she pointed to the blood pool in the bucket. The princess absorbed the smell of the blood and ran toward the bucket to drink all of it. Her thirst was very aggressive as she desired to have more. Granny stared at the bloody princess and asked.

"How did you become a vampire?"

"I don't know. I just woke up and I'm a vampire after all. I used to be a human like a normal one."

"What about your family? Are they searching for you?"

"No. They are murdered. I buried them in the fire of my castle. No proof of a living being in the castle and outside of the villages. Everything burned. I was the one who woke up alone." Snow explained as she finished her thirst.

"Where?"

"Where? My castle?" The brunette princess queried as Granny nodded quietly.

"West near the big river." Snow pointed behind her shoulder. The oldest alpha wolf looked at the area of the forest where they ran out from the village and everyone else. They stood in the location of North near the cold wintry lands. Granny scratched her ear and voiced.

"We are in the northern lands."

"I know. I can feel the wind from up there. I heard the rumors of the tale about the girl who was taken away and became a vampire."

"Aye, Cora was the one who killed them but stole the blonde girl. But that girl died in the raging fire because it was Cora's fault." Granny understood that tale as she heard it before. Snow wiped the blood on her mouth with her tongue as she walked back to her.

"What's her name?"

"Queen Eva of Enchanted Forest. She was my queen and I was her knight. No one claimed to have her as our queen. For her honor, Queen Eva wanted to murder the first vampire who spread the virus of the vampire blood. She was the Pureblood vampire with her clan. I was the first Legion wolf when Eva brought me in her castle. We've been inseparable since she became a Pureblood vampire."

"How many clans are there?"

"Four. Pureblood, Diluculum, Valkyrie and Carpe Noctem." Granny said while collecting the wood from the pile and walked together to the cottage. Snow earned herself some thoughts and lastly asked before the silence came.

"What am I?"

"You are a Diluculum. I can't kill you because you are the last one who received that kind of blood." Granny finished her thought and entered into the cottage for a fireplace to keep them warm. Not for Snow White because she was a vampire after all. It left to the man who laid on the cot with many wounds. Ruby comforted his forehead with the cold rag.

In the tent, Regina was almost falling asleep on Emma's chest when they reached the bed by the post with the candle in the lantern. Little by little, Emma listened to Regina's slow breaths and went worried about the battle against Cora. It was a tension she had felt since the chaos in Storybrooke.

Snow immediately came in the tent by checking on them and bowed in toward Emma. She got a glance on Regina's well-being and asked.

"How is she?"

"Not well. She had a nightmare. I suspect that her mother spooked her away. Honestly, I don't know what's going on with her mind. I'm sure that Regina want me to stay here with her for a while. So, what do you have?"

"A plan to battle her but one issue is how big for Cora's army."

"Shit." Emma replied with a curse. Snow nodded with a frown.

"What will we do?"

"Let Rumpel handle that one as he is on my demand for the update. You have to gather many as you can for our army. Also, send Ruby to inform her packs to help us. As long as we stall on the battle plans." The blonde vampire said with a sneer.

"Very well, your royal highness." Snow retorted with a bow then exited the tent. Emma clenched her fist the holy as she held Regina in her embrace. The brunette girl furrowed her brows as she closed her eyes. Her nightmare began with a dark song.

I never

Said I'd lie and wait forever

If I died

We'd be together

The music started up in a slow motion as Regina woke up in her bedroom that was her childhood life. She blinked every second as the song began to slow rumbling through her ears. The second verse got her to feel chills because of her mother who was controlling her life before she died.

I can't always just forget her

But she could try

Her bedroom door revealed slowly as the shadow appeared in the dark hallway. Regina heard a voice downstairs which it was her voice arguing with her mother in the living room. Regina tried to hide herself in the bed but her legs took her downstairs to see the event happening in her eyes. Cora was there in the dark torn dress, trying to smack the vase on her four years old self. Her father was tied up to work and didn't know what's going on in the house. Emma appeared to be there and stared at Regina's four years self with her eerie voice.

At the end of the world

Or the last thing I see

You are never coming home, never

coming home

Could I? Should I?

The blonde vampire enchanted a spell for everything in the freezing action. Cora was barely moving at all but her face showed a scream. Regina's four years self was crying as she was crouching behind the chair. Emma strolled to the young Regina and embraced her for her safety but she vanished in the air. Regina blinked in seconds as she realized that she was there in Emma's arms then looked up at her emerald eyes.

And all the things that you never

ever told me

And all the smiles that are never

ever

Emma slowly glanced up at Cora's screaming face with an eerie snarl. It quickly transformed into the cemetery scene where Regina and her father stood by Cora's grave on their mourning ritual with the preacher who was shouting a eulogy to the dark sky. It was starting to drop in the rain. Regina's father didn't cover Regina's head with the umbrella and let them get soaking through the rain. Emma stood by Regina and sang toward her but didn't look down at the soiled grave.

Ever get the feeling that you're

never all alone? And I remember now

At the top of my lungs in my arms

She dies

She dies

Regina's teardrop was mixing with the rain as she stood by her mother's grave. Her father departed away as Emma caressed the brown-haired girl's hand. The pouring rain got heavy on them as the crows fled away. The gravedigger stood there and watched the girls mourning someone's grave with a sad smile.

At the end of the world

Or the last thing I see

You are never coming home,

Never coming home

Could I? Should I?

Regina put the bloody rose on her mother's grave as her goodbye. She turned away to walk back home. Her father was waiting on the front porch. Emma watched her as the air took her away like a ghost. The brown-haired girl embraced herself in a warm coat as her footsteps led her to home. Emma appeared on the front porch as she watched her father rocking the chair. Regina looked up at her father with a sad smile but didn't get nothing from him. She continued to get inside as Emma sang.

And all the things that you never ever told me

And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me

Never coming home, never coming home

Could I? Should I?

Regina stayed in her bedroom as she watched the raindrops on her window. Her tears began to drip on her cheeks as she crouched like a ball on her bed. Her father brought the tray to her but stopped by the doorway to watch her daughter crying for a wonderful mother. He sighed as he knew that it was a bad thing to have Cora around in the house since he found out that Regina had some deep wounds on her body. Emma sat beside Regina and caressed her long brown hair.

And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me

For all the ghosts that are ever gonna catch me

Lastly, Henry stayed there longer as he watched the scene folding. Emma looked at the window as Regina watched the raindrops then sang the last verse. The scene was scarring them for life but a tragedy. Henry moved the tray to the vanity desk and walked to Regina for a long hug.

If I fall

If I fall

Regina and her father embraced together on the bed as Emma watched the scene between them. She sang for Regina and Henry with one more time of the last verse.

If I fall

If I fall

The nightmare scared Regina out of the blue as she woke up in the tent. Emma was there embracing her on the bed. The brown-haired girl started to cry once again and Emma understood her feelings since she lost her mother long time ago. Rumpel came in with the update but found Emma soothing Regina in her embrace. He immediately knew and continued to exit then searched for Regina's father afterward. Emma used her telepathy to contact Rumpel for the update.

'Emma, don't worry. Just take care of her. I'm going to fetch her father to see you immediately. I will take care of everything from your orders in the advance.'

'Very well, Rumpel. Take care of Ruby's packs once they arrive at our land.'

'Yes, your royal highness.'
