A/N: Here's the newest chapter of Harry Potter: Prince of Dragons. One caution though, this isn't a very nice chapter. Mild abuse warning attached here.

In other news the first two chapters of my newest project Lightning, Part 1 which is a crossover between Harry Potter and the X-Men are up. If either of those fandoms interest you please go and check it out.

I don't own either Harry Potter or Dungeons and Dragons. They belong to their respective creators. The only things that are mine are the story itself and any original characters I might come up with. Please read and review; I always appreciate feedback. Constructive criticism is welcome, however no flames please.

14) AGITATIONS AND RESORTS

While Harry was enjoying his first full day at Hogwarts other people were less than happy with his return to the wizarding world. As Bahamut had told him there were some people – not many but some – who were very bigoted against non-humans of any kind considering them to be inferior to them in every way and not fit to mix with their betters.

One such person was the Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, Dolores Umbridge. While she was indeed highly placed in the ministry and very influential with the higher ups she wasn't actually liked very much. To her face she was called "Madame Umbridge." Behind her back people often referred to her as "Toad Face Umbridge" which was very appropriate as she did very much resemble a giant toad.

Her world view was very rigidly defined. At the top of the social order were pure blood wizards. Below them – far below them – was everybody else starting with the half bloods, then the muggle borns (whom she despised), then squibs, then muggles whom she thought were no better than animals, and finally magical creatures. To her nonhuman magicals – any nonhuman magicals – were vermin to be controlled at best, destroyed at worst. It didn't matter how intelligent a creature might be or how strong. If it wasn't human it was automatically inferior. If aliens were to ever visit Earth she would probably treat them just like any other nonhumans.

Since Harry was a dragon it didn't matter to her that he was a royal dragon or even a divine dragon. No. The mere thought of that nonhuman scum attending Hogwarts set her teeth on edge and she was determined to do something about it to get him out the school even if it meant that she would have to arrest him, or even kill him. Unfortunately for her Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, though he might be an easily bribeable spineless politician most of the time was not so blinded by bigotry as she was. Neither was he as much of a fool as people thought he was, especially when it came to dealing with truly important people.

"No Dolores" said Fudge, "you may not take any action against Harry Potter."

"But he's polluting Hogwarts" she said, "with his inferior dragon blood. We need to protect our society from that."

"What would you have me do?"

"Get him expelled of course."

"That's not my decision" said Fudge, "and there are no grounds to expel him."

"Cornelius" she said, "he's a beast, an animal."

"He's also the son of the divine dragon king" snapped Fudge.

"You don't really believe that do you?"

"Yes Dolores" said Fudge, "I do. We thought Bahamut was a myth but he's not. He's real and he's not someone to cross. Neither is his son."

"But – "

"No" said Fudge, "let me explain something to you Dolores. You may hate anything that's not a human pureblood but that doesn't mean you can just attack anything that offends you. Regardless of what he is Harry Potter is the son of the dragon king. He's a prince, just like a prince here on Earth whether British or foreign. And as a prince of a foreign nation he has full diplomatic immunity for one thing."

"You mean I can't have him disciplined as he deserves?" asked Umbridge.

"You can't touch him" said Fudge, "do you know what would happen if you attacked him? Bahamut would demand that you be turned over to him for justice."

"You wouldn't do that" said Umbridge.

"If I didn't" said Fudge, "Bahamut might take that as an act of war – especially if you succeeded in killing Harry. If that were happen, Dolores, you better believe I'd turn you over to Bahamut if meant averting a war with the dragons. You may think they're just beasts but they're very powerful beasts that are highly resistant to magic. If Bahamut declared war on us every dragon on the planet would side with him and probably dragons from other worlds would as well. Even his sister Tiamat would help him. She may normally be his enemy but in this matter she would join with him as a matter of principle. We wouldn't have a prayer of beating them."

"So you're just going to let this go without doing anything about it?" asked Umbridge, "I thought better of you Cornelius."

"Think whatever you want" said Fudge, "but as your superior I forbid you from taking any steps against Harry Potter. If you do you'll be dismissed and the ministry will deny any involvement with anything you may have done. Is that clear?"

"Cornelius – " Umbridge began.

"Is that clear Dolores!" Cornelius practically yelled at Umbridge who started back before averting her eyes.

"Very clear" she said through gritted teeth.

"Good" said Fudge, "Now I suggest you put Harry Potter out of your mind. It won't do you any good to brood about him. Why ruin your life and your position here at the ministry over this?"

Umbridge didn't answer. She knew Fudge meant well but she refused to let it go. She didn't know what to do about Harry Potter yet but she'd think of something.

The next day when Harry left his room to go to breakfast he saw Neville running up the hall towards the Ravenclaw common room chasing his kitten.

"Voldemort!" Neville yelled, "you come back here!" Harry rushed after him so as not to miss the fun. There were already a lot of people in the common room preparing to go down to breakfast when Neville came barreling after his kitten.

"Stop him!" Neville called, "somebody stop Voldemort!" The reactions from many of the students were priceless as almost all of them flinched, one girl screamed and a couple of boys pulled out their wands to defend themselves. Fortunately before things could get even further out of hand. Somebody grabbed up the kitten and held it out to Neville.

"Thank you" said Neville taking the kitten and holding it close, "I don't know how long it would have taken to catch him if he'd gotten out of the tower."

"Surely he'd come back?" one of the other students asked.

"Yes" said Neville, "but I don't know how long that might take and until I know my way around this school I don't want to take the chance. Excuse me." He left the common room and returned to his room where he put Voldemort back on his bed where the kitten, looking rather smug, curled up for a nap. Neville shook his head at this but couldn't help smiling anyway.

"That was interesting" said Harry when Neville rejoined him.

"I suppose it was" said Neville, "but I could have done without it."

"The sooner you let Voldemort start wandering around on his own the sooner it won't be problem" said Harry.

"Like I said, I want to know my way around this castle first" said Neville as they began to make their way down to the Great Hall for breakfast. They followed the same route that Professor Flitwick had showed them the previous day. The landmarks he'd pointed out were very helpful in keeping them from getting lost and they reached the Great Hall without too much difficulty.

For the most part breakfast on this second morning of classes was much the same as breakfast the previous morning as the students gathered in the Great Hall, ate their breakfasts, talked with their classmates, read the mail that came in, read the Daily Prophet when it was delivered with the mail, and so on. It wasn't until close to the end of breakfast time that something different happened. The doors to the Great Hall crashed open as Lucius Malfoy stormed into the room. Harry looked over to the Gryffindor table to see Draco visibly cringing. He turned around and looked at the Slytherin table where he saw all of the Slytherin first years (and others) watching Lucius' appearance with great interest.

"Lucius" said Dumbledore, "what brings you to Hogwarts on this fine morning?"

"I think you know why I'm here headmaster" growled Lucius.

"I'm afraid not if you don't tell me" said Dumbledore.

"Don't play dumb with me Albus" said Lucius, "we both know my son was sorted into the wrong house and I'm here to see to it that he's resorted at once."

"Is that so?" said Dumbledore, "and how does Draco feel about that?"

"It doesn't matter" said Lucius, "I'm his father and what I say goes. He will be resorted." Dumbledore sighed.

"Very well" he said, "if you will both accompany me to my office – "

"No" said Lucius, "we will do here so that everyone can see that there is no doubt his initial sorting was a mistake. Draco, come here now."

"Father there's no need for this" said Draco as he approached his father, "we can go to the headmaster's office. It won't matter in the end."

"Don't talk back to me young man" said Lucius sternly, "now Albus." Dumbledore raised his wand.

"Accio Sorting Hat" he said. While they were all watching this Harry turned Neville.

"I don't like this" he said to Neville, "isn't the Sorting Hat supposed to be very stubborn about its decisions?"

"That's what my parents say" said Neville. Before Harry or anyone else could reply to that the Sorting Hat came flying into the Great Hall and Dumbledore caught it.

"What is the meaning of this headmaster?" asked the Hat.

"It seems we must do a resorting" said Dumbledore.

"Oh must we?" was the reply, "who doubts my decisions?"

"I do" said Lucius, "no Malfoy has gone to any house but Slytherin for many generations."

"There's always a first time" said the Hat with some asperity.

"Just get on with it" said Lucius. Draco smiled at this. Finally he would be sent to the right house where he should have been all along. Professor McGonagall got up from her seat at the high table, took the hat from Dumbledore and descended to the main floor of the Great Hall where she placed the hat on Draco's head. The whole Hall waited to see what would happen.

"Must we go through this again?" the Hat asked Draco.

"Just put me in the right house" said Draco.

"You are in the right house" said the Hat, "as you are now you'd never make it as a Slytherin. Instead of trying to be something you're not you should embrace what you are. GRYFFINDOR!"

"Don't ask me to do this again" said the Hat when it was done and was being removed from Draco's head, "it will change nothing."

"NO!" yelled Lucius. Then to the shock of everyone present he raised his walking stick and struck Draco in the face knocking him down.

"Lucius!" yelled Dumbledore but Lucius was not paying attention to him as he looked at his son with anger.

"You're a disgrace to the Malfoy name" ground out Lucius, "I'm ashamed of you." And before anyone could say or do anything Lucius Malfoy turned and marched out of the Great Hall.

There was dead silence in the Great Hall as everyone was shocked by what they had just witnessed. Harry came to a snap decision. He concentrated hard and vanished from the Great Hall. Only Neville noticed.

"Harry?" he said, "Where did you go?" The other Ravenclaw first years heard him and when they looked over to where Harry had been they all saw that he was gone.

Harry appeared in his sleeping chamber on Mt. Celestia and immediately changed to his dragon form. He then went charging through his father's palace looking for his parents before finding his father in the audience chamber with some of his court.

"Harry?" said Bahamut in surprise, "what – ?"

"It's true" gasped out Harry, "he is being abused."

"Calm down" said Bahamut to his son, "and tell me what's wrong." Harry took several deep breaths.

"Draco Malfoy is being abused" said Harry, "I saw it myself." Bahamut turned from his son and addressed the others in the chamber.

"We'll continue this meeting later" he said, "you're all dismissed for now." Everyone else left the chamber so that Bahamut and Harry were alone.

"Tell me what happened" commanded Bahamut. Harry told him everything that he'd just seen in the Hogwarts Great Hall. Bahamut was scowling when Harry was done.

"I see" the dragon king said in a stern voice, "thank you for telling me this. Go back to Hogwarts. I will be discussing this matter with your mother."

"What will you do?"

"That remains to be seen" said Bahamut, "now go my son and leave things to us." Harry nodded. He concentrated again and disappeared from the audience chamber. Bahamut summoned a servant and told him to fetch Daranni to him at once.

Harry reappeared at Hogwarts, or rather he reappeared on the Hogwarts lawn instead of back in the Great Hall. One look at himself and he understood why as he was still in his dragon form.

"Oops" he said to himself before taking off and climbing into the air high above the castle. He still had a lot of energy to burn off from his emergency trip and figured that some flying would calm him down before his first lesson of the day.
