Obito arrived in the forest and searched with the genjutsu user's memory. Eventually, he discovered a large scroll inside of a tree trunk. Obito opened the scroll, there were several jutsu inside but Obito noticed the jutsu that the woman used. "Hidden jutsu, Penance of Love," Obito said aloud. "The jutsu had two functions, one where it was a suggestion mode that was subtle and the other was total control. The jutsu required a sizable amount of chakra to keep active with full control, but hardly any chakra was required for the subtle mode. But something was intriguing. The caster had to make victims inhale a chakra-based gas, that required pollen and a portion of the castor's blood. However, it was noted that one person was able to resist the Jutsu's effects, The Second Hokage."

"Hmm, I wonder what made him able to resist it?" Obito thought to himself.

He continued to read. "The Second Hokage supposedly was immune to the jutsu due to his immense experience dealing with Uchiha, or he didn't have anyone he loved enough to listen to with no questions asked."

"That sounds like the fiendish Senju. He could not bring himself to understand love." Madara murmured in Obito's mind.

Obito just ignored him, he wanted to learn more about the jutsu.

"The Second Raikage was the creator of the jutsu in an attempt to cease war and conflict. However, many in the Cloud disagreed and used it wrongfully."

Obito noticed a portion of the words had been jumbled as some kind of code, "What type of forbidden jutsu requires a code to decipher?" He activated his Sharingan and cycled through every possible code key he knew. Not so surprisingly it was a secret key that only high-level Cloud Shinobi could decipher.

Obito continued. "In response to Cloud ninja abusing the jutsu, The Second Raikage adjusted the jutsu to kill the user by burning the user's blood after so much strain or when the castor caused someone to do something vile."

"Well, now there's something that you should read first. Why are there not any warning labels on these things before you use it? Why does the warning have to be encrypted?"

Madara tried explaining, "I assume it's so that if the scroll ever fell into the wrong hands that they'd be unable to note the drawbacks. It's ingenious when you think of it."

Obito read more but nothing was noteworthy, he wanted to browse it more but knew that his time was limited. He summoned a white Zetsu to hold onto the scroll and wait until next week to place it outside the Leaf so he could pick it up then. But now all he had to do was make the woman do something the jutsu considered vile. But how? Hmmm...

Konan met up with Kakashi and Jiraiya, who was unconscious. Both of them carried Jiraiya back to the hotel room and placed him on the bed. The woman who cast Kakashi, Madara, and now Jiraiya under genjutsu knocked on the door. Kakashi opened the door autonomously and the woman greeted them, "Are you guys ready to escort me to the Hidden Leaf?" She asked.

Konan heard the woman's voice and noted that she seemed decently young, just like herself. "Yes. We're ready as soon as Jiraiya-Sensei wakes up." Konan answered trying to sound like she was still under Kiyomi's control.

"I'm sorry but I want to leave now. So pick him up and carry him."

A high-pitched voice replied, "Okie dokie, leave it to Tobi." Obito appeared while no one noticed and picked up Jiraiya, who was fairly heavy if it weren't for Obito's inhuman strength due to his unnatural body. He carried him over both of his shoulders and awaited Kiyomi's next order.

"Okay, let's get a move on," Kiyomi said as she left through the door.

Obito followed but gave Konan a look as he walked by. Konan felt weird being stared at by him, it just was a little weird knowing that he saw her as his past love.

Kiyomi wanted to be in Konoha by nightfall but Kakashi answered, "I'm sorry, Rin, but from where we are we won't return home until tomorrow afternoon."

Kiyomi nodded, "I'm sorry, Kakashi. I was impatient."

"It's alright," Kakashi said. Though Kakashi was under Kiyomi's genjutsu he was in the suggestion mode, probably cause Kiyomi didn't find him to be a threat.

Konan watched as Madara carried Jiraiya. She thought, "It's weird seeing these two together. Master Jiraiya and Madara's pupil. I wish Yahiko could've been here..."

Obito tried having a clear mind, until...

"What is your plan to get out of this predicament?" Madara manifested in front of Obito.

"I'm working on it," he replied.

"Well work faster, you're disgracing my name and your Uchiha blood," Madara said appearing farther in front of Obito.

Kakashi watched Tobi carry Jiraiya, he thought that maybe Tobi needed to rest for how long he'd been going. "I think we should make camp for tonight."

Obito looked at Kakashi, "But Tobi can keep going. Just a little bit longer, Kakashi-senpai?"

Kakashi walked away from the main road, he was serious about making camp. He opened a scroll that held his bedroll and opened another scroll that held firewood.

Konan walked near Kakashi and manifested a scroll with her paper jutsu that held her bedroll. Tobi sighed and followed, grabbing Jiraiya's scroll and placing him on his bedroll.

Kiyomi was upset that they were delaying her arrival to the Leaf, "Alright, I guess we'll continue tomorrow."

Kakashi quickly made a fire using the firewood and fire chakra. He sat down and stared directly into the fire.

Konan looked at Tobi across from her, "Your hair's getting pretty long, Tobi, you should cut your hair."

Obito looked toward Konan, "But why? Tobi looks fabulous with long hair." He replied with the usual childish energy of Tobi.

Kakashi chuckled slightly, "I think Konan has a point. Short hair results in better mobility and visibility, which you probably should keep in mind with your one eye."

Obito thought about it, "Hmm, I am used to having short hair."

Madara manifested from the campfire, "I would say that long hair looks good on you."

Obito turned his eye directly to Madara, "Oh right, you talked me into keeping my hair long."

"In my day whenever you saw a man with long hair, it meant that they'd never lost a battle. You haven't lost since your encounter with your former mentor. Though technically you did lose to that woman, even if it was through genjutsu."

Obito growled, "I didn't lose. It was a mutual draw."

Madara smirked, "Having your face revealed and her living to tell the tale doesn't seem like a draw to me."

Obito looked away, balling his right hand into a ball and stabbing his fingers into his right palm. There was Madara back with his condescending and irritating personality for Obito to hear.

Weirdly enough Konan watched Madara's posture and eye, she noticed that he looked at something near the fire but it wasn't something she could see. Konan wondered what Madara's pupil could see even without the Sharingan. She looked over to the woman with brown hair, "What else are you doing to him?" She wondered.

An hour or two passed and it was right around midnight. Jiraiya was still unconscious and most likely having a good dream. Kakashi and Konan had gone to sleep as well, but Konan went to sleep with reservations. She worried that the brunette would do something to Lord Madara, there was no way he could fight back under her control.

On the flip side, Kiyomi didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the same vicinity with the masked Madara, she worried he would break free from her control and kill her.

But unlike Kiyomi, Obito was focused on one goal, causing Kiyomi unease. It was true that he couldn't cause her harm, but what he could do was inflict fear into the woman. And when you're fearful you're more likely to mess up.

Obito eyed the woman, waiting for her jutsu to show any sign of weakness. Kiyomi felt Madara's gaze, it was chilling. "Please stop staring at me."

"I'll stop staring when I have a reason to otherwise," Obito stated.

Kiyomi felt uneasy but she could still control Madara, "Stop looking at me and be quiet."

Obito turned away and said, "My gaze isn't what concerns you, it's what you think I'll do once I'm free. And you should because anything you think of will pale in comparison to the fate you'll be granted by my hands."

Kiyomi's spine tingled in fear, Madara meant every word. "Why are you hiding within the ranks of the Leaf village if you're so powerful?"

Obito crossed his arms, "When you have an enemy you can see they are your primary goal, but if you don't know your enemy then you will never know their heights of power. Knowledge is power, and power is everything."

Kiyomi let the words flow through her, absorbing the information. She would keep that in mind for the future.

Obito laid down on his bedroll, "If you don't sleep you'll be very weak tomorrow... Kiyomi."

Kiyomi felt the chill again, "How do you-"

"The several seconds of searching through your memories gave me enough time to discern your name and where you hid the Hidden Cloud scroll. You won't have to worry about the scroll because neither you nor I will find it." Obito said, "You're lucky I like seeing someone from my past again, it reminds me of better days. I'll give you six hours until I wake, then we can resume our battle of attrition."

Kiyomi didn't know if she should believe Madara, but she needed sleep. Reluctantly, Kiyomi lay down and let the darkness engulf her.

Obito woke up just as he said, six in the morning just before dawn. He stayed still, debating if getting up was all worth it. His dream was everything he ever wanted, but he could only dream for so long. He needed to do so much just to achieve the infinite Tsukoyomi. But as Obito kept thinking about Madara's plan there was something that he disagreed with, Madara's revival. Obito didn't need Madara when he could become the ten tails' jinchuriki instead. Though Obito wouldn't get his eternal dream if that were the case.

There was something odd to Obito, over the past couple weeks he hadn't had a nightmare. They were only good dreams. But they all included Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan.

"Dreaming about Rin again, or is it Konan this time?" Obito turned to see Madara's spirit hovering over him.

"Haven't I told you to stop pestering me as I wake up? It's annoying." Obito said rolling over.

Madara wondered why he got stuck with someone lazy as his apprentice, he should have orchestrated things to get the Hatake boy instead. He would have been easier to manipulate and control, even without a Sharingan Kakashi would've been powerful enough to do as needed and not delay his resurrection at every turn. But such was not the case. Even with the cursed seal on Obito's heart, he didn't fully commit himself to anything. Such as now.

"Hey, Tobi. You getting up?"

Obito rolled back over to see Minato standing over him, "Minato-Sensei?" Obito whispered to himself.

"I wanted to talk to you before the others get up." He said.

Obito couldn't tell if he was dreaming or if the penance of love was still active. "Yes, sensei." He said lowly with the grogginess still in his system.

Obito got up and stretched, Minato nodded to him and they walked a bit away from camp but still in sight. They sat atop a rock that overlooked a pond.

Minato spoke, "Tobi, do you remember our talk the other day?"

Obito nodded knowing full well he didn't, "Of course, sensei."

Minato continued, "I didn't want to ask Konan because I already know her answer, so now I'll ask you, are Nagato and Konan alright? I mean surely with the time you've been with them you've seen how they are and how they feel."

The question wasn't from Minato-Sensei at all but it was Jiraiya underneath the genjutsu. "So the jutsu is still active while she's asleep, most intriguing."

Obito looked toward the river, "Though they don't know, Tobi always sees whenever they shed tears. Tobi is perceptive like that. And he hears the sobs through the walls at night that come from Konan's bedroom back in the Rain village. And Tobi hears when Nagato groans in pain whenever he tries to move. Tobi tries his best to help them both but Tobi isn't Yahiko, and he will never be anything like Yahiko."

"Minato" nodded, "They're hurting more than anyone should have to. If I'd been there to help them against Hanzo..."

"Tobi watched the fight helplessly, he wished he had done something to save Konan then. Maybe if he did then Yahiko wouldn't have had to die." Obito said. Though he didn't care for Yahiko, everything else he meant.

"Minato" reached into a pocket and pulled out a journal or a notepad and a pen, "Tobi, I can only imagine what happened to you that resulted in you having the First Hokage's jutsu, but I think that everything has a reason for happening."

Tobi turned to "Minato", "Then why does everyone have to suffer so much? Why can't everyone live in peace?"

"Minato" stopped writing and turned to Obito, "Well, I think about it all the time. The source of everything is always love or hate, and in this world, there's too much hate. If only we could get rid of all this hatred."

Obito looked up to the sky, "My sensei wanted to achieve peace, he talked to me about a plan that he hoped would ensure peace forever. I was but a simple child then, I wish I understood it then."

"Minato" looked at his notebook for a moment, and he wrote "Tobi. Has an affinity for Fire and Wood styles. One eye, possibly another. Half of his body has a different complexion. Lied about Orochimaru, but it doesn't explain his Wood style and complexion. Hides his intelligence and possibly resistant to genjutsu. Seems to see things no one else can and talks to them, possibly schizophrenia. Was there when Yahiko died, but didn't do anything. Had a Shinobi mentor who wanted to secure peace, possibly a former Hidden Leaf Shinobi. Black hair, dark eyes, moderate stature, possible Uchiha maybe?"

"Minato" turned the page and it was a verse he was writing for his next book, "Makeout Hideout". It was still an experimental name. He thought about making the main character an every man with scars deeper than his past and being thrust into a situation with a friend of his until they start developing feelings for each other. Though "Minato" had barely been around Tobi, he still noticed women swooned over him. "Minato" wondered if all women found young men with dark hair and eyes attractive?

"Sensei?" Obito asked as Tobi, "Your books, are they porn?" A part of Obito felt weird asking the question to Minato-Sensei even though it was Jiraiya underneath.

"Minato" laughed loudly, "No, Tobi. My books aren't porn. They're graphic romance novels. I would never stoop so low to write and draw erotica."

Obito turned to him, "Really? That's not what Kakashi-senpai says."

"Minato" seemed offended by this, "Really, Kakashi said that?"

Obito nodded, "Yeah. Anko-chan also teases him for it."

"Minato" chuckled meekly, "Okay, I have done a little bit of erotica but it's never been that big of a deal."

"Sure," Obito shrugged and stood up.

"Before you go, Tobi. I gotta ask, are we also under that genjutsu?"

Obito walked away slowly, "Yeah."

"Minato" scrunched his nose, "Oh great." He stood up and placed his notebook back in his pocket.

The dreamscape of Kakashi's mind was dark, murky, and cold. Konoha was the only backdrop he could ever think of, and the only place he knew every nook and cranny was the cemetery.

A kid Kakashi stood in front of a grave, his father's grave. He placed flowers in front of the headstone, "Dad, I made it onto Minato Namikaze's team. There's a girl named Rin Nohara and a boy named Obito Uchiha. They're alright, but they're too carefree. They don't care about rules."

He looked up at the dark clouds above Konoha. A voice echoed through the air, "It's true, in the ninja world those who break the rules are scum. But those who would leave just one of their friends are worse than scum."

Kakashi turned around to see Obito who had his back to him, but he turned his head to look back at Kakashi.

Kakashi knew it was a dream but he wanted to save Obito from his cruel fate. "Obito, don't go! You'll die!"

Obito turned with a bright smile. But then he began coughing up blood and the right side of his face was shrouded in darkness. His eyes were bright red, even piercing through the darkness. "Promise me you'll protect Rin." He said with a smile.

"Obito..."

"Obito!" Kakashi yelled out as he jolted awake. He didn't have his jacket or his headband on. The first thing Kakashi saw was Tobi and his mask, but weirdly enough Kakashi's Sharingan found something peculiar about Tobi. He could see that Tobi had chakra pumped into his right eye. And after a moment it stopped. The only explanation was that Tobi had a doujutsu, but it couldn't be a Byakugan.

Tobi was startled by Kakashi, he jumped back and behind Jiraiya. "Sensei, Kakashi-senpai is scaring me."

Jiraiya sighed, "Tobi, cut it out. We gotta get moving and... Huh, I can't even remember what we were doing out here."

Kakashi closed his eye and picked up his headband, covering his left eye. He still stared at Tobi, "Just who are you?"

Konan was nearby packing her stuff back into her scroll, but she didn't do it without thinking. "I wonder who Obito was for Kakashi to be shouting his name as he wakes? I'll have to go to the Konoha archives when this foreign Shinobi business is done."

Kiyomi watched... whatever was going on between Madara and the masked one. "I guess it makes sense, nobody would ever suspect a fool." She watched as Madara wandered to his bedroll and put it away. They were to head off to the Leaf today, and Kiyomi was excited to finally be safe from

Kumo. She would cast the Hokage under her genjutsu and do what she wanted, whenever she wanted. But Madara still worried her, "You won't catch me off guard again, Uchiha."
