Chapter 20: The Preliminaries Continue, FIGHT GENINS!
The screen landed on the next two names as Hayate coughed again. "Alright then. . .will Chōji Akimichi and Hinata Hyuga come down for the next match." He announced the next competitors.
Hinata gave an audioless gulp before she looked at her teammates before taking a deep breath. "Well. . .wish me luck." She asked with a slight hesitation, even with her new skills and abilities, the insecurities still remained, even if they are minor then she did a few months.
The Kyūbi meanwhile chuckled slightly to this. "Just get this over with already." He simply ordered.
Naruto also chuckled as he gave a quick peck her on the cheek. "You don't need it, you got this in the bag." He whispered into her ear. "Besides, after everything we been through from fighting Zabuza to even that pedo, you think this would be a walk in the park." He encouraged with a big grin on his face.
Hinata separated from him as she started giggling with a light blush on her face. "I guess that it's true." She then turned to Sasuke.
Said boy only nodded at her while still had the same uncarry expression. "Good luck Nata-chan, you can definitely win this!" Satsuki told her via mental link.
Hinata nodded as she headed down the stairs. "Thanks Satsuki-chan, I'll give it all I got!" She told her when she finally got to the center of the arena.
With Team Ten. . .
Chōji groaned as he started to hold his stomach. "Aw man. . .I'm so hungry. . ." He then started to hear his stomach growl as he groaned some more.
Shikamaru sighed as he bopped his teammate on the head. "It's alright Chōji, you just have to get through this match, winning or not." He lazily stated.
"I guess. . ." Chōji muttered out as he headed down, still a little depressed. "I still wonder how Ino's doing. . ." He thought as he headed to the arena.
His best friend knew what was on the chucky friend of his and knew how to get him back to normal. "Oh yeah. . .Sensei told me if you fight all out he'll invite us an all you can eat barbecue buffet." Shikamaru told him.
This got the desired reaction as Chōji's eye flared with determination as he now wanted to get the buffet.
At Konoha Hospital. . .
Asuma and Inoichi looked down at the exhausted Ino as her mouth was covered with a breathing mask as she slept in the bed.
"To think this would have happened. . ." Inoichi muttered as he looked at his daughter as she continued breathing.
Asuma meanwhile was furious at what happened to his student before he then nodded. "I know, no one ever expect Kurenai's girl to win the match. . .or the fact that she had that too. . ." He admitted as he looked at his student's father.
Inoichi then narrowed his eyes. "It's still shocking that Sakura even has that. . ." He responded. "What was the reason?" He then questioned in concern and confusion.
The girl's sensei could only let out a sigh. "Well at least Kakashi's will deal with that little gift she got from Orochimaru. . .but who knows what it will do to her, especially after what she did to Ino's mind." He soon stated in a serious tone.
Inoichi nodded as he continued looking at his daughter.
In a dark and secluded area. . .
Kakashi was looking over a unconscious Sakura after drawing sealing marks on from his own blood around Sakura's Curse Mark on her right hand and that it was connected onto the floor seals that were in a circle formation round the girl.
The jonin soon took in a deep breath and exhaled it as he looked at the girl. "Alright then," Kakashi got out as he let out a sigh and began going through a very complex and intrinsically series of hand signs. "Time to get this done. . ." He muttered as he ended the signs with a Rat sign. "Curse Sealing." He declared as he channel his chakra to his hand.
Then Kakashi placed his hand on where the Curse mark, this caused a flash of white light came out. Sakura felt this and made her to struggle her eyes a little, then she began to felt pain which caused her body to shiver slightly.
The blood writing on the floor began to move as they started to slither towards Sakura's hand as it formed a circle around her Curse Mark. This caused the girl to once again lost consciousness.
Kakashi then sighed in slight exhaustion as this jutsu didn't just caused a lot of chakra, but also a huge amount of control or risk of it blowing up. "Don't want Kurenai to rip me apart if I messed up." He thought to himself as he looked at the seal. "There, this will at least lessen the power of the mark, but it mainly depends on her will. . ." He reminded himself with a narrow eye. "Though. . .that's not a very safe bet. . .given this girls personality. . ." He added.
Suddenly the sound of a very eerie and evil chuckling echoed through the room, making the jonin's spine to shiver. "Well, well, well Kakashi-kun, you've grown up well. . ." A despicable and completely vile voice remarked in amusement.
Kakashi's eyes widened as he looked behind himself only to see a very familiar face. "So you are here," He stated as he fully turned around to see a pale faced, yellow eyed man with ebony black hair. "Orochimaru. . ." He declared in a calm yet angered tone making him go into full battle mode.
"Kukuku. . ." Orochimaru only chuckled at the pathetic display of bravery as he then turned towards Sakura. "I'm surprised you learned the Curse Sealing Jutsu. . .However it was a futile effort. . ." He stated as he started licking his face in a twisted way. "Ah well, no matter; I simply came here for the girl, Kakashi-san. Now, if you don't mind, please step aside. . ." He requested as had enjoyed expression on his face.
Swallowing his fears, Kakashi stepped closer to Sakura. "I don't think so, Orochimaru." He replied as he then got his hands ready. "What exactly do you want? What are you planning on doing to Sakura?" He questioned while his hands flashed through seals. "No matter, I'll just defeat you here and now." He declared.
The room was suddenly filled with the sounds of birds chirping and crackling blue light. "Lightning Blade!" He soon roared before rushing towards the Snake Sannin.
Orochimaru simply chuckled some more as he simply stood his ground, and before he was able to say anything. . .
SQUELCH!
Blood soon flew everywhere as Orochimaru's body fell to the floor, lifeless and dead.
Kakashi panted as this jutsu had drained a lot of him, but also doing the ritual didn't exactly helped his chakra, however despite that, he turned and went back to Sakura. "I should move her somewhere safer. . ." He thought while looking at Sakura's body.
"Kukuku. . . Did you really think that that would work?" A familiar vile voice questioned in an amused tone.
Kakashi's eyes widen in shock as he quickly turned around.
Orochimaru's body began twitching rapidly, before a wet hand suddenly shot out from his mouth, then after a few moments it was followed by the other arm, then a head. . .and slowly, the rest body of Orochimaru. Though he was covered in his own bodily fluids, there wasn't a single sight of injury on him, as if the Lighting Blade didn't made a scratch.
The Snake Sannin then stood tall before the shocked Jounin as he started wiping himself off and acting as if nothing had happened. "Really Kakashi. . . you should know by now, that it will take more than a petty jutsu like that to defeat me of all people. . . I mean, I was a candidate to become a Hokage at one point." He bragged with an amused tone as he was talking to a little child thinking he could be an adult.
Kakashi's face was now paler than before. "Damn, I should have thought of this thoroughly." He thought as he watched the pale man come closer and closer until. . .
STAB!
"Don't move. . ." A very familiar young icy voice ordered while having a senbon ready to pierce the pale man's neck.
Orochimaru's eyes widen for a moment as he felt the senbons at his back. Though they verily did any damage it hit specific nerves that made it hard to move, as he started to chuckle again. "My my, I can honestly say I didn't see this coming." He then started as he saw a masked shinobi behind him. "I'm surprised that I didn't notice this boy here." He honestly admitted with an impressed tone.
"Give up, Orochimaru. We already have your assistant Kabuto Yakushi in captivity." The masked ninja soon revealed.
Orochimaru simply raised his eyebrow at this, however he then smirked in response. "I don't think so. . ." He simply remarked with a carefree tone.
Then as soon as the Snake Sannin made that remark, he was enveloped in a burst of green flames, vanishing from the room.
"I suggest you don't cancel the exams. . .and don't worry about my dear assistant, I will get him back, when the time is right." Orochimaru's disembodied voice echoed throughout the air as more vile laughter followed.
Once Kakashi felt that Orochimaru had left, his nerves finally gave in as he kneeled down. "Damn it. . ." He swore with self pity from being to scared to even put up a fight as he then he turned to his adopted child. "Thanks for that assissed Haku." He thanked the boy.
Haku took off his mask as he frown. "I'm sorry father, I let him get away. . ." He apologized to his step father.
Kakashi simply wave him off. "It's okay. I don't think anyone could capture him easily, even if he was near death. I'm just glad that we both got out of this alive and in one piece." He declared with immense relief in his voice.
Hearing a groan and sudden movement, Kakashi turned to face Kurenai's student. "Sakura. . . Are you alright?" He asked with slight concern that the seal didn't work.
"S-Sasuke-kun?" Sakura stirred out with groggy eyes before she fell unconscious once more.
Kakashi and Haku palmed their faces at the sight with sweat running down their heads.
"I-I'm going to watch the preliminaries father." Haku decided with barely contained annoyance and disappointment towards the girl.
Kakashi nodded to his adopted son's decision. "Alright, I'll bring Sakura to the hospital." He simply told him as he then picked the girl up and both of them disappeared in puffs of smoke.
Back at the preliminaries arena. . .
Hinata and Chōji stood in the middle of the arena as the two looked at each other, then the proctor came to over and looked at the two, coughing all the while. "Alright *cough* if both sides are ready," He asked, when both contestants gave him a nod he raised a hand. "Then may the second match, begin!" He declared as he lowered in jumped backwards.
Chōji instantly got into his clan's fighting stance as he readied himself. "I'm sorry about this Hinata, but I won't hold back!" He declared as his eyes sparkled with hunger.
Hinata let out an awkward giggle from the enthusiasm in the voice eyes, but still nodded all the same as she got into her Gentle Fist stance. "Same here Chōji, I won't go easy on you." She replied with a kind yet strong tone.
Not wanting to get his chakra points blocked, Chōji made his move first. "Human expansion!" He said as he body expanded to ridiculous proportions. "Human Boulder!" He declared as he began to roll at fast speeds towards the Hyuuga Heiress.
As for Hinata, she simply stood her ground until the last second, then with the gracefulness of a dancer, she simply and effortlessly dodged the ball of flesh at hair length distance before she could be hit. "Whew, that was close. . ." She got out with a sigh of relief. "No matter how strong I have gotten, I don't think I would last if I got the full force of that hit." She told herself in her mind as she began to analised what would be the best course of action she should take.
The Akimichi manage to stop himself, before he began to rolled once more towards the direction of the Hyuga.
Hinata saw this coming and like last time she dodge at the last moment, however she didn't settled with that, as she was dodging she went and delivered various fast Gentle Fist strikes at the side of the the huge human boulder, however the strikes just bounced off from expanded size like it was rubber. "Eh!?" The Hyuga got out in shock and wide eyes.
As she saw the large boy charging yet again, Hinata could only do the same procedure, only to failed once more. "Look's like because of his expansion of his body, me Gentle Fist won't reached his chakra points. . ." Hinata analysed in her mind. "That means the only way to make my attacks hit will be. . ." She added.
Hinata then began to looked at the arena and analyzed everything and smiled as and idea reached her mind just in time to dodge another charge of the large boy.
"FOR THE MEEEEEAT!" Chōji roared.
In the stands. . .
"And there he goes. . .troublesome. . ." Shikamaru groaned out.
"Meat?" Naruto and Satsuki meanwhile thought in confused unison.
Hinata began to move and dodge in a odd and irregular manner as she slowly began to move from one area and then to another.
With the genins. . .
"I don't understand? What is Hinata-san trying do to?" Lee asked as he didn't understand the strategy in the girl's actions.
Tenten only raised an eyebrow in confusion at this. "You got me Lee, I have no clue what Hinata is trying to do." She agreed with her teammate.
At the display, Neji grunted in annoyance at the sight. "She should just surrender and not waste our time. He simply stated.
Hearing that, Naruto growled angrily as he wanted to rib the arrogant Hyuga a new hole. "What was that asshole!?" He roared.
Neji merely scoffed in annoyance to that. "It's her faith for being weak." He calmly declared once more
Sasuke meanwhile narrowed his eyes to hearing that, but stopped himself from doing anything as he had a calmed and controlled expression. However on the inside, Satsuki was all but calm. "ASSHOLE! NO ONE INSULT MY BEST FRIEND!" She roared.
Tenten meanwhile sighed to hearing that. "Neji. . ." She groaned out as she really hated it when he talks like that.
"NEJI! THERE IS NO REASON TO INSULT A YOUTHFUL FELLOW KONOHA SHINOBI AS SHE TRIES HER HARDEST!" Lee declared with a fire blazing behind him. IF SHE DOES NOT WIN BECAUSE OF HER YOUTHFULNESS, I WILL DO 100 LAPS AROUND KONOHA ON MY HANDS AND IF SHE DOES WIN, I WILL DO 200 LAPS TO CELEBRATE!" He then added to his declaration.
All of the genin's near them however face faulted as they found both the winning and losing conditions absolutely ridiculous.
Tenten couldn't help but rubbed her head to calm her migraine. "I just had to leave my paper fan at home. . ." She then thought.
With the Oto team. . .
"Is that guy an idiot?" Zaku questioned with narrow eyes.
"Don't bother with him, a fool's way of living always ends in death." Dosu stated.
Kin meanwhile just looked on at the green spandex wearing shinobi, unaware of her cheeks being pink.
With older generation. . .
Unlike the genins below them, the more experiences Jonin were smiling or smirking at this.
"Not bad, little wallflower may not got brain but she definitely has the brains." Anko commented with an impressed tone.
The Hokage meanwhile chuckled at the display. "He has always had a love for meat and Shikamaru took advantage of that. However I feel that will be his downfall." He stated as he then looked at the Hyuga. "Hinata now only has definitely grown since her early days in the academy, she is blossoming well into a tactical and analytical kunoichi, that can be vital in all situations." He then added.
Kurenai meanwhile smiled at the progress of the girl. "Hinata. . ." She thought.
Back at the fight. . .
Hinata was still dodging from one side to another while still moving around.
"If you think you simply tired me out! Then you got it wrong! I will win and get my meat buffet!" Chōji roared with determination.
The young Hyuga didn't replied as she jumped as high as she could towards another direction. However she had jumped to high that she remained floating for a few more seconds than she needed to.
Seeing this chance, Chōji run at full speed towards Hinata before she could land. "Your mine now!" He declared with certain victory in mind. "THE MEAT IS MINE!" He roared with hunger.
Hinata felt like time was slowing down as she was slowly landing. She had calculated everything, even the apparent mistaken of jumping to high that Chōji took advantage. Hinata's eyes had calculated that her feet would reached the floor just before the human wrecking ball would reached her.
At the precise moment Hinata's feet had touched her ground, she sent some chakra to her feet and sprinted out of the way of the ball.
This however didn't bother Chōji, however he was too absorbed on the thought of meat that he just realized that where Hinata had landed, right behind her was the wall.
With no time to move, the Akimichi crashed into wall as unintentionally dispelled his jutsu. "Ugh. . .that hurt. . ." He groaned out.
Suddenly, Hinata appeared right in front of the normal size Akimichi. "I apologize for this." Hinata thought as she wasted no time; she rushed over to him, and slid into a wider stance, to initiate her clan's special skill.
"Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms!" Hinata cried out as a mental diagram appeared in her mind as she then began her attack.
"Two Palms!" She quickly attracted the shoulders making him stagger. "Faster. . ." She told herself.
"Four Palms!" She then attacked both of the ribs to make him lose his capacity to breath. "Much faster. . ." She continued to tell herself.
"Eight Palms!" She later follow with attacking his entire arms. "Come on. . ." She ordered herself.
"Sixteen Palms!" She continued with the legs and feet, making him lose balance and then she grabbed him, threw him upwards, and followed him into the air. "I can do this!" She encouraged herself.
"Thirty-Two Palms!" She declared as she struck at the Akimichi's back and closed the remaining tenketsu that she could manage to blocked and ending it with a full power palm strike, sending him crashing onto the floor.
As Hinata landed on the ground, she panted a bit as the jutsu was still too hard for her to master. "Still can't use it full capacity, it was thanks to Kyūbi's enhancements and chakra that even allowed me to use half of the 64 version. . .but I can still improve I know I can." She declared in her mind with determination.
In the stands. . .
"OH YEAH! THAT'S MY GIRL DATTEBAYO!" Naruto yelled out for all to hear in a happy and proud manner.
"She's developing well. . ." Kyūbi said. "But still has a lot to learn. . ."
"Wow. . . Hinata's really strong. . ." Sasuke stated with an impressed smirk. "Great job Nata-chan!" Satsuki squealed in her mind with excitement.
Hinata could only mentally giggle at that. "Thanks Satsuki-chan!" She replied via mental link.
"Whoa, Neji, you never told me your cousin was this good!" Tenten stated at the incredible display from the younger Hyuga.
Neji raised an eyebrow as he looked at her cousin. "Hmph. She's not." The Hyuga Branch member replied with an unimpressed tone.
Innerly however, Neji was shock to the girl's progress, but he quickly recovered as he recalled one important detail. "No it doesn't matter, she still can't master the true Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four palms, a failure like her will never master it. Once a failure, always a failure." He thought, determined with his beliefs.
"THAT WAS A MOST YOUTHFUL MATCH! I NOW CANNOT WAIT ANOTHER SECOND FOR MY MATCH!" Lee blurted out with uncontrolled excitement.
". . ." The rest of the Chunin exam competitors had large sweatdrops and deadpan expressions at the Green Beast of Konoha's. . . intense nature.
"THAT'S RIGHT LEE! HER YOUTHFULNESS SHOWS NO BOUNDS!" Gai happily exclaimed.
"GAI-SENSEI!"
"LEE!"
The two master and student then started hugging with a sunset strangely appearing behind the two of them.
The rest of the competitors eyes twitched as they looked at the sight.
"Where the fuck did that came from!?" The Kyūbi meanwhile roared in pure annoyance, confusion and a slight amount of fear. "More then that, how the hell can I see it is clearly from this damn seal!?" He then questioned.
Back with two contestants on the arena. . .
The still-unconscious body of Chōji barely moving an inch with the occasional twitch every so often moving while Hinata was still in her stance, waiting for either the proctor of her opponent to move.
There was a stunned silence as they all waited for what will happen next when the proctor came forward and looked at Chōji, once his did he simply nodded to himself and then pointed at the young Hyuga. "The winner is Hinata Hyuga!" He declared.
Once the proctor had declared this, medics came and went to come over. They checked if the boy had any serious injuries, once the saw that it was only medium injuries and only his tenketsu points were closed and they knew he would make a full recovery after a long rest, with that diagnostic, they soon placed Chōji on the stretcher.
Hinata soon enough let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness. . ." She thought to herself from knowing that her friend would be just fine.
Then the female Hyuga went back into the stands, but as she reached the top she, was suddenly picked up and kissed by an over excited Naruto. Much to the very embarrassed yet happy Hyuga's surprise.
"Awesome work Hinata-chan! You really had us going dattebayo!" Naruto admitted.
The Kyūbi meanwhile chuckled at the praise that was given. "It was a given that you would win, after all, it's all thanks to my chakra in your system that this was to easy." He bragged with a boasting tone.
"Oh get over yourself you perverted fox." Naruto meanwhile muttered in annoyance. "That was all Hinata-chan's skill." He then declared.
"Fuckin ingrates. . ." The Kyūbi then grumbled out in annoyance.
Sasuke however just nodded before looking away. "Keep getting stronger." He ordered in a calm tone. Satsuki on the other hand. . ."That was so cool! You had Choji right in the palm of your hand the whole time!" She declared.
Soon enough, the two girls were in the shared mindscape as the Uchiha then jump hugged the Hyuga, causing her to blush. "That was completely expected of my best friend!" She then declared with a proud tone.
"S-Satsuki-chan. . ." Hinata got out in slight embarrassment, but couldn't help but smile to her happy and excited friend.
"BOW CHICKA BOW WOW!" The Kyūbi however roared in a perverted tone and equally perverted grin.
"SHUT UP!" The trio roared in annoyance at the annoying perverted fox while the Hyuga and Uchiha separated from one another and left the mindscape.
"Meh, it was worth it." The demonic fox then remarked.
Hayate waited until the monitor landed on the next two combatants names. "Next up! *cough* Shikamaru Nara vs. Kin Tsuchi!" The proctor called out.
Kin soon smirked at the fact that she was called. "Finally." She remarked.
Dosu then looked down at his female teammate. "Don't lose." He ordered with a narrow eye.
Zaku also glared at his female teammate. "Yeah, don't screw up like last time Kin." He then stated.
Kin didn't even look at the two teammates of hers as she then jumped down to the arena. "Alright, show me what you got!" She yelled at the lazy genius.
Said genius just looked down at the kunoichi and let out a long sigh. "How troublesome. . ." Shikamaru mumbled his reply as he lazily and slowly began to walk down the stairs.
With Team Seven. . .
Naruto was leaning onto the balcony as he watch the next combatants. "I wonder if Shika has this in the bag?" He thought in a wondering tone to sure if he will win or not.
Both Satsuki and Hinata pondered about this, they thought back to what they remembered what they knew about the boy and they really didn't know what to think. "Not sure." They both replied in semi-unison.
"A Nara huh? I get the feeling that he'll just find the laziest and easily way to win this match." Kyūbi stated with a bored tone as he wasn't expecting much.
Both Shikamaru and Kin were facing each other, waiting for their match to begin. Well one of them. . .not so much.
"Man. . .This sucks. . ." Shikamaru whined with his normal lazy tone. "Plus it looks like she's one of those tough fighting girls. . ." he then added.
"Lazy ass. . .Then I'll just end it quickly." Kin said as she already had enough of the whining boy.
The two continued to look at each other as they analyzed each other's fighting styles.
"You know. . .though I saw the two guys from Oto's abilities. . ." Shikamaru began to think to himself. "I don't know anything about her's. . ." He added.
"From what I can recalled this guy's uses his shadows to halt all of his opponents movement's. . ." Kin recalled what his teammates told her about the boy's abilities, even within their previous state from after they took the experimental pills. "Alright then, all I have to do is keep my distance and attack from afar." She soon added.
"Man. . .and she's seen my jutsu already thanks to what happened in the forest. . ." Shikamaru whine at the thought of having to make an effort now. "But. . ." He then added.
"Begin!" Hayate suddenly declared.
Shikamaru instantly did his snake seal. "This is all I have. . ." He finished his sentence. "Shadow Possession Jutsu!" He declared.
Kin only sigh at this as she saw it coming. "Already saw that jutsu. . ." She simply got out as she dashed to the left. "So as long as I stay away from you shadows reach you can't beat me with it!" She declared as she threw him two senbons.
WHOOSH!
"!" Shikamaru was startled by the upcoming senbons that he had to crouch down to escape harm.
CLINK! CLINK!
The sounds of clinking made Shikamaru turn and their on the wall he saw the two senbons imbedded onto the wall, but they each had a small bells attached to its end. "Bells?" He thought with confusion.
The lazy genin eyes widen when he realized the purpose. "That's an old trick. . ." Shikamaru got out as he turned towards his opponent. "Next you'll throw on senbon with a bell and one without one right? And when I react to the sound and dodge the first one. . .and don't notice the second one. . .stab. . .right?" He asked as he finished his analysis of what the kunoichi was properly going to do.
Kin on the other hand didn't seem startled or mad at this. "You sure like to talk!" She said as she threw back her right hand as a sigh of another set of senbons to be thrown.
"Just have to avoid those needles. . .knowing the trick it should be easy. . ." Shikamaru got out with confidence.
CLINK! CLINK!
Suddenly the boy heard the sound of the bells behind him. "What!? Behind!?" He thought with fear and confusion as he looked back.
Behind him there was nothing but the same pair of senbons with bells that were thrown before, however the only difference were that they were clinking by themselves.
Upon closer expectation, Shikamaru saw that something was indeed making them ring. "String?" He asked, then his eyes widen. "Oh no!" He shouted as he realized what had happen.
The same hand that Kin had pulled back was now was the same that was pulling the bells on the senbons. "Hehe, surprised?" She tauntingly asked.
The lazy genin try to turn around as fast as he could. "She was using a string to ring the bells. . .Damn it!" He cursed for being fooled by the trick.
"Too late!" Kin shouted as she had already thrown several senbows at the boy.
Shikamaru had no time to dodge or block, so all he could do was cross his arms to shield himself, but was trucked by all of the senbons and landed onto the floor.
"Yes!" Kin thought with glee at the attack succeeding. "Now all I have to do is keep dodging your shadow and there's nothing you can do. You done." She declared with confidence.
However Kin soon found out that she couldn't move as her body refused to move a single inch.
"What!? My body. . ." Kin thought with confusion.
"Heh. . ." Shikamaru got out as he slowly began to stand back up. "Looks like Shadow Possession jutsu finally worked." He said with relief.
"What!? How did this happen!? I didn't see your shadow anywhere near me!" Kin asked frenetically.
Shikamaru simply chuckled. "You haven't notice yet?" He simply asked as he saw the girl gasp as she finally did. "Exactly idiot!" A string at that height. . .shouldn't have a shadow!" He reveled as the shadows that were bellowed the strings began to thicken and widen to show that his jutsu had worked.
"D-Dammit. . ." Kin got out as she struggled for control. "The shadow is getting larger and larger. . .so that means this wasn't just the shadow of the string." She added in her mind.
"Yup!" Shikamaru declared as he extended his hand towards her and Kin was forced to do the same. "I made my shadow really skinny to make it look like it was made by the sting and then attached it to you." He declared triumphantly.
Then the young Nara move his right hand onto his weapon pouch and pulled out a single shuriken as Kin did the same.
"What are you stupid? Both of us will do the same movements." Kin declared not seeing the point in this. "If you attack you'll get hurt too. . ." She then stated.
Shikamaru just smirked at that. "I know. . ." Was the lazy replied from the Nara.
"You aren't. . ." Kin got out as she was scared to asked what Nara was planning.
However her fears were answered when he saw Shikamaru's smirked widen. "We'll keep throwing shurikens to see how long we can last!" He declared as he threw his shuriken.
"You idiot! Don't-!" Kin shouted as she herself had thrown her own shuriken.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Both shurikens flew at each other, aiming straight at their heads while all of the genins were on the edge to see what would happen next.
As the shuriken were just inches away from hitting, Shikamaru began to move backwards.
Kin did the same with immense relief in her face. "Thank kami he was bluf-" Was all she could say. . .
THUD!
The Oto kunoichi hit her head onto the wall, while Shikamaru was chuckling. "One down. . ." He commented.
Kin could only fall as she remained on the floor, unconscious.
Shikamaru chucked as he readjusted himself. "If you're a shinobi. . .then fight with knowledge of you surroundings. . .even if we move the same." He began to with a cocky tone. "The distance to the wall behind us was different." He continued.
For those that were above that area could see that Kin was much closer to the wall than the Nara. "I just used the shuriken so you wouldn't notice how close you were to the wall." He concluded.
"The winner is Shikamaru Nara!" Hayate declared before coughing.
Sighing, Shikamaru yawned as he cleaned his ear with his pinky finger. "That was too troublesome. . ." He muttered.
Back in the stands, five minutes and fifteen second later. . .
All of the competitors gasped at the time. It only took Shikamaru five minutes and fifteen seconds to win!
Naruto and Hinata chuckled a little while Sasuke smirked at the sight. "Somehow. . .I saw this happening. . ." They all thought as they heard the fox demon laughing some more within the seal.
"FAIL!" Kyūbi blurted out. "Complete and utter humiliation!" He roared while continuing to his roaring laughter.
Dosu however looked on as the medics came took the kunoichi. "Kin. . .you fool. . ." He thought to himself with disappointing tone.
After Kin had been taken away Hayete stepped forward once again before coughing some more. He waited for the screen to set up the next pair of components. "Next up, Temari of the Desert vs. Zaku Abumi!" He declared.
The spiky haired Onto genin smirked as he headed down. "Heh, this'll be easy!" He bragged with an overconfident and cocky tone.
Temari such scoffed as she had heard the Oto genin bragged. "Don't get too cock, kid." Was the biting reply from the Suna nin as she began to walked down the stairs.
"Temari. . ." The ever - stoic Gaara suddenly said, stopping her sister cold in her tracks. "Don't let yourself be distracted, finish this quickly. . ." He ordered.
Said sister couldn't help but gulped as she knew that his little brother was getting annoyed and that was a very dangerous thing for everyone around him. "O-Okay, Gaara. . ." She said nervously, before she decided to jump down as an effort to separate from him as quickly as possible.
Hayate coughed a few times as he looked at the two contenders. "Ready? *cough*" He asked the two and they simply replied with a nod. "Then, begin!" He declared before jumping away.
Almost as soon as he jumped away, Zaku began the match as he pointed both of his arms at his opponent. "ZANKŪHA!" He shouted as he shoot powerful blasts of air at Temari.
Said girl only merely smirked and began to dodge his blasts gracefully, as if she was dancing and with minimal effort as well. All the while a hand was on her hip and the other on her huge fan.
The Oto genin's eyes widen in surprised. "What the?!" Zaku shouted in startlement, before he began to growled out as he continued firing his air blasts at his opponent in different positions and timing.
However like the first initial surprise attack, Temari effortlessly dodge them all, all the while smirking as she looked at her nails with a bored expression on her face. "Is that all? Please, I rather have had a match," She then pointed a thumb towards Tenten. "with her. I bet she least she seems a bit more of a challenge than Blowing Boy Wonder over here." She taunted with a cocky expression.
"Why am I the example!" Tenten then questioned from the stands.
Zaku on the other hand was furious, if it was one thing he hated the most wa being looked or feeling weak. "Why you fucking bitch!" He roared out in pure rage as he continued firing with more power and faster velocity.
However this was just a repeat of the same thing as by this point Temari didn't even bother to look at all as her nails looked more interesting to her than her opponent.
"Damn you damn you damn you, hn!" Zaku yelled in pure anger as he was beginning to pant heavily from over using both the jutsu and his chakra from the constant barrage.
"Hmph." Temari simply huffed, before she finally got tired of this. "Let's just get this over with." She got out with a bored tone.
Suddenly Temari grabbed her huge fan on her back and unraveled it, revealing it to be a giant battle fan. Then with one mighty swing, she created a gigantic gust of wind that slammed Zaku across the arena into the wall.
Then the kunoichi closed her fan and slam the butt onto the floor. "What a weakling." She then remarked.
Zaku grunted in pain as he got out of the wall, however the pain was to intense that he couldn't stand straight as he was forced to kneeled.
The boy then looked towards the older girl and began to growl in anger. "Damn bitch. . .Like hell I will lose to you!" He roared as he then prepared his hands by gathering all of his remaining chakra for what looked like a powerful attack. "ZANKŪKYOKUHA!" He yelled.
The result was instantaneous as the boy had created a gigantic gust that completely destroyed the floor that it flew by, it was faster than even Temari could had precised with her eyes, so when the attacked reached her, it sent her spinning into the wall, before obliterating the wall itself as a lot of dust saw created from the impact.
In the stands. . .
"Holy!" Naruto yelled out as he and mostly everyone shielded their eyes from the dust that got pick up from the attack.
"Such a powerful attack. . ." Hinata commented as she too was shielding her eyes.
"Be lucky he hadn't used it on us back in the forest. . ." Sasuke then stated.
"Not bad. . ." The Kyūbi simply commented. "A complete and utter destruction for the field of attack, but too bad it didn't work at all." He then remarked.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Naruto asked the Bijū.
"See for yourself. . ." The Kyūbi lazily replied.
In another part of the stands. . .
Kankurō looked at the field as he tried to find his sister amidst all the rubble. "Shit. . .this isn't good. . ." He got out as he was worried that this would enraged his younger brother.
"It's done. . ." Gaara stated as gave of his usual emotionless tone. "This was a waste of time. . ." He then added.
"Huh?" Kankurō got out as he was surprised that his little brother wasn't furious at the lost of his older sister. However when he turned to look his eyes widen when he saw the reason.
Back to the arena. . .
At the crater on the wall, the dust finally began to clear and there was indeed Temari on the hole, however was everyone saw was that something was blocking their view of her.
The object that blocked the view was none other than the kunoichi's huge fan acting as a shield. "Alright. . .that was a good attack, but not by much. . ." Temari remarked as she closed her fan and there were a few scratches on her from the attack, but other than that, she was perfectly alright.
Zaku was completely baffled at the sight. "How. . .I used all I had in that-!?" Was all he could get out before. . .
WHOOSH!
Temari had swung her huge fan to send an equally powerful gust of wind like Zaku's, sending him crashing to his side of the wall.
However unlike before, Zaku received the full blow of both the impact and the crash onto the wall, most of his body was covered in his own blood as his eye rolled to the back of his head as he layed there in the crater unconscious.
Temari scoffed at the sight as she dusted her clothes off. "Like I would give you the chance to recover. . .though it did gave me a scare, if I haven't used my fan to block the impact and used a wind barrier to cushion the crash I would had ended like that." She thought to herself.
Hayate coughed again as he stepped forward, not even needing to contemplated on the who was the winner. "The winner of this match is Sabaku no Temari!" He declared.
Back in the stands. . .
"So that's what you meant." Naruto commented as he more or less figured how the girl had manage to get out of that with minor scratches.
"She's very skilled. . ." Hinata commented as her eyes narrowed. "Almost too skilled for a genin to be. . ." She then added.
"Yup. . .she calculated the force of the impact and the way to survive the crash. . .way too smart and talented for a genin level." The Kyūbi confirmed the girl's suspicious thinking.
"Hmm. . ." Sasuke hummed out. "Maybe she like a match for Shikamaru in the intelligence department." Satsuki meanwhile remarked.
"Maybe on the brain department, but definitely not in the motivation or effort department. . ." Naruto declared with a deadpan tone.
". . ." The girls didn't even bother to denial or confirm that as they knew the blond was right.
"My. . .she's something else with her Wind Style, huh?" A voice from behind the members of Team 7 said.
"!" The trio were slightly startled by this as they turned to saw it was Haku
"Oh Haku!" Naruto happily said.
"Haku-sensei." Hinata said as she gave a polite bow towards the ice user.
Said boy then gave them a friendly wave to them.
"Didn't expect to see you here." Sasuke simply commented as he only looked at him with a side glance.
"Well I just wanted to check out how the preliminaries are going." Haku replied as he glanced at the arena below and ending with the sand genin. "But I must admit, I'm surprised at some of these Genin's power, especially the Suna shinobi." He praised as he looked at Gaara. "I wonder about the last one, though. ." He then added in his mind as he looked at the red haired boy.
"Damn. . ." Kankurō thought as he let out a huge sigh of relief while he wiped the sweat of his face. "Sis. . .don't give me a scare like that! I don't want to be the one to handle Gaara's disappointment. . ." He thought to himself as he looked at his ever growing annoying little brother.
The red haired boy in question was only watching the screen as he was tired of waiting to get more blood for his mother.
BEEP!
Hayate coughed again as he saw the next set of names. "Will Sasuke Uchiha and Yoroi Akadō please come down for the next match!" He announced to the two.
With the Trio. . .
Sasuke let out a smirked to the announcement. "Finally." He simply remarked with a cocky tone as he was waiting for some action. "Well, looks like I'm up, wish me luck." Satsuki told her teammates via mental link.
"Good luck, Sasuke-san." Hinata encouraged her teammate. "Please be careful ok, Satsuki-chan." Hinata mentally informed with concern in her voice.
"Good luck, teme!" Naruto also said with a big grin on his face. "Kick his ass Satsuki-chan!" He then added in his mind.
"Hn. I don't need luck, and certainly not from you, dobe." Sasuke remarked with a smirk as he walked down the stairs. "Yosha! Time to kick some ass!" Satsuki meanwhile mentally declared.
At the Konoha hospital. . .
Kakashi had just arrived at the area were shinobi's are usually treated with Sakura on his shoulders as a medical-nin came by. "I'm here to drop off a patient." He simply stated as he handed over the unconscious girl.
The medical-nin nodded as he took her from him. "Anko-san had radioed us of both the situation and what happened." He told the jonin. "We'll do a full body examination to make sure her body is alright while Anbu will keep guard at all times." He then reported.
The one eyed jonin simply noded in understandment. "Thank you." Kakashi simply replied.
The medical-nin then began to turned and go begin his examinations, but was stopped when the jonin held him with a hand on his shoulder. "Yes?" He simply asked in confusion
Kakashi simply give him his infamous eye smile as he then went into his pocket and pulled out some earplugs while handing them to him. "You'll also be needing these if you don't want to go deaf, trust me." He simply stated as he then disappeared in a puff of smoke leaving the medic confused.
The medical-nin could only looked at the earplugs with a baffled and confused expression. "Um. . .He wasn't serious. . .right?" he thought thinking it was a joke.
However. . .you don't live long if you don't listen to more experience shinobi then you. "Hmm. . . Maybe I should wear them, just in case. . ." He simply said to himself as he looked at Sakura and notice something.
"Well, I better get her in bed and cut her hair short enough for the examination since long hair always gets in the way." He commented when suddenly a revelation struck him. "Ooooh. . . That's why he gave me the earplugs." He said, not wanting to even risked it, he quickly put them in.
Back at the chunin tower. . .
Sasuke and Yoroi were staring at each other waiting for Hayate came over and being the fight.
"Ready to lose?" Sasuke taunted with his normal cocky tone. "I can finally show of my new skills." Satsuki thought to herself with glee.
"Remember girl, don't use my chakra, don't want others to know about that little secret just yet." Kyūbi advised the female Uchiha. "If anything I suggest that you and Hyuga wait until the finals, then it will be a real show for everyone." He added with an amused tone.
Satsuki let out a mental whine and pout to that, but she then realized that it would be much more fun. "Alright, I'll wait then." She replied with a mischievous tone.
Unaware of what his opponent was thinking Yoroi simply glared at him. "Bring it on, runt!" The masked Genin replied to Sasuke's taunt.
". . ." Sasuke didn't replied as he barely let out of twitch of annoyance, however on the inside, he was less than pleased. "Oh HELL NO!" Satsuki thought as she was quickly losing her temper.
"Well if both sides are ready, then let the match begin!" Hayate announced as he stepped back.

F2P (fight2protect)'s A/N: Yeah! Though we can only apologize that the second one was less than normal. . .Curse our lack of adding better shit!
JG: Got that right. ^^" Anyway, let's first talk about the changes made in Chapter 19!
F2P: Well like always, we decided to make the text have a much better flow and that it's easier to understand and follow, trust me. . .some was very vague, even for me. . .
JG: Yeah that was my bad because I was still a beginning writer at the time. ^^"
F2P: No sweat! We also changed a few things here and there to make it more funny or serious, but mostly funny. XD
JG: Got that right! And the slightly changed intro proves it!
F2P: Now a part we did change completely was when Satsuki and Hinata were asked by Hiashi to show their new found abilities, well. . . decided be a bit more. . .creative in the execution. XD
JG: Yeah, at the time, I was not able to really think of anything, but F2P here came up with something I would've never expected! XD
F2P: What can I say!? This ideas just are my thing! XD just used what you have, add insanity into the mix and BAM! Instant epic or hilarious moments! XD
JG: That is my friend, that it is! XD Next up we have the how we added more details for the final days before returning to the tower. Once again, I admit that wanted to get it done quickly at the time.
F2P: So to make it have a better flow, we yet again added some of the canon bits into it, with our twist that is.
JG: And many twists there are for it, both serious and humorous moments! XD
F2P: Mostly about our favorite trio, such as the wake up called scene. XD

F2P: It's always a blast writing him in the story. XD But anyways. . .some of the original text were also just short paragraphs, but we felt like they could be used for a general scenes, so we did just that, make general sense and boy was it worth it for some of them! XD
JG: XD We just placed in so much for Chapter 19 that it's not even funny! Especially with the serious scenes like Naruto talking with the Hokage about the girls.
F2P: I know right!? XD And afterwards was still more canon bits and that's about it for the first remastered chapters.
JG: Yeah, though for this chapter, Chapter 20, there really wasn't that much to change except some dialogue and adding some things here and there. It's the reason why it wasn't as long as the other chapter.
F2P: That and it had mostly short battles, we tried to lengthed them as best we could with both original and realistic ideas, well except Shikamaru's, his was 90% canon.
JG: Thank the manga for that. ^^"
F2P: However, the one thing that we DID changed was the fight of Temari vs Zaku. The reason for that is just we just couldn't see her losing to him, I mean it was shown time and time again that Temari is a badass girl that wouldn't lose that easily. :D
JG: Especially to Blowing Boy Wonder! XD
F2P: I mean seriously!? Would a wind mistress like her be easily beaten by a single wind jutsu that was the only one he practically knew? XD
JG: Yeah that was my bad in the original version of making the Oto idiot win. ^^"
F2P: No sweat, we just simply correct a mistake is all. :) But aside from that, this was all we did for this two chapters.
