Maddie POV
The following week, Allen and I have the same day off and it's the day I'm finally choosing to speak to my father after learning what he has done all those years ago. Allen waits for me at the bottom of the stairs and looks up at me with a sad smile and sympathetic eyes.
"Hey babe, are you ready to head over?" He asks, wrapping an arm around my waist when I make it to the bottom step.
I look up at Allen and rest my hands on his chest as he gives me a kiss. "No, not really. But I know I gotta do it," I sigh, resting my head against his chest. Wrapping my arms around him, I cuddle in close, not wanting to let go.
I feel Allen press a kiss to the top of my head when he wraps me up in both arms, holding me close. "I know baby, but the sooner you do it, the sooner it's done and over with. You can decide what you want to do with what you learn afterwards," he tells me.
I look up at him, resting my chin on his chest, "when did you get to be so wise with your words?" I ask him with a crooked smile that he returns.
Chuckling, Allen leans down and pecks my lips with his own, "ever since I found this amazing woman who has made me see life in a different light and helped me to see things differently than I would have a year ago. She loves me unconditionally and accepted me for who I am. Flaws and all," he replies and my smile widens.
"She sounds pretty amazing. I think you need to hold onto her for the long haul," I reply and Allen grins down at me, squeezing my hips.
"Oh, I plan on doing just that. I'm not gonna let her slip away," Allen responds before whispering, "I'm keeping you for as long as I live, darlin'. Now c'mon. The sooner we go, the sooner we can come back," he tells me and I nod my head.
"Yeah, let's go," I reply quietly and let Allen lead me out of the house. He helps me into his truck and I cuddle into his side the second he gets into the drivers side. "Sorry. I just need to be next to you right now," I whisper, resting my head on his shoulder.
"Don't you ever apologize for seeking comfort in me. I'm here for you…always Maddie. And that's never going to change," he tells me as he wraps an arm around my shoulders, pressing a kiss to the top of my head and I nod.
"I love you," I say.
"I love you, too, baby," Allen replies.
Less than 15 minutes later, we pull into my dads driveway and Allen shuts off the truck. We climb out and make our way into the quiet house. And it's quiet. Too quiet. I look up and over at Allen and he wears the same look on his own face.
"Dad?!" I call out for him, only to get no response and I frown.
"Go check upstairs and I'll check all of the first floor," Allen suggests and I nod my head in agreement.
Climbing the stairs, I go door to door as I make my way to his bedroom. I slowly and quietly open the door, just in case he may be sleeping. When I walk into the room, I see him lying in bed with his eyes closed.
"Dad?" I call for him quietly, but loud enough for him to hear me and when he doesn't respond, I walk into the room and up to his side of the bed. "Da–" I begin, placing a hand on his shoulder to lightly shake him, but my call for him turns into a bloodcurdling scream when I feel his body is as cold as ice.
"MADDIE!" I hear Allen yell my name, but I don't acknowledge that I've heard him.
"No! Daddy! No! Wake up! Please!" I wail, shaking his stiff form as tears fall rapidly from my eyes.
"Maddie, what–" Allen says in a panic and stops short in his tracks when he witnesses the scene in front of him.
"Dad…please! You need to wake up! You can't be gone! Oh my god!" I bawl as I continue to shake his lifeless body. No. No, no no. He can't be gone! There are so many things I never got to say to him. I never got to apologize. I never got to tell him I loved him. I never got to make things right with him and he probably died thinking that I wanted nothing to do with him anymore!
"Maddie, baby…" Allen says solemnly, placing his hand on my shoulder. I launch into his arms, burying my face into his chest as I sob uncontrollably; inconsolable to the fact that my father is gone.
Allen wraps me up in his arms and holds me tight as he quietly tries to console me. "He–he's gone. Oh my god…" I whimper, grabbing a hold of his jacket and not letting go. "It hurts…so much," I cry.
"Shh, I know, baby. I know. I'm so sorry, darlin'. I've got you and I'm not lettin' go," Allen quietly says into my ear and I feel him pet my hair as he slowly sways us back and forth.
Allen POV
Maddie's crying wails break my heart and I hold her tightly against me as I look over at her deceased father with sad eyes. I never wanted for this to happen. I feel terrible that she never got to speak to him one last time before he passed.
I try shushing her, but I know it'll do no good. The only thing I can do right now is be there for her and comfort her as much as I possibly can. "He loved you Maddie and he knows you loved him in return. Don't think otherwise, darlin'. He wouldn't want you to do that. He's no longer in pain and is finally reunited with your mom. I have no doubt they're both watchin' over you right now and that your mom is tryin' to convince your dad that I'm not such a bad guy. She's tellin' him how much I love you and she's probably also tellin' him how extremely good lookin' I am," I say quietly with a small smile on my face despite the situation. I'll do anything to make her feel better.
Maddie releases a tiny muffled laugh and lifts her face from my chest to look up at me. The smile, though small, has my heart expanding. "You are such a goofball, but it's one of the many reasons why I love you," she tells me and I lean down to press a kiss to her lips.
"I'm just tryin' to do my job and be the best boyfriend I can be," I reply, wiping the tears from Maddie's face and eyes, returning her smile.
"Baby, you already do that. Besides my dad, you, the boys and Susie are all I have. I don't know what I'd do with myself if I didn't have you. Especially right now. You're already making it better by being here with me and for making me laugh. Even though you drive me insane sometimes…you keep me sane, Allen," Maddie replies and I provide her with a lopsided grin.
"I will always be here for you, Mads. But we need to call the sheriff; we can't keep him here much longer," I tell her, my grin fading and I replace it with a solemn look. The small smile on Maddie's face disappears as well and she looks down, nodding her head.
"Yeah, I know; you're right. I'm gonna go outside and make the call. I need some air anyways," Maddie replied and gets to her feet. She leans over her father and presses a kiss to his forehead, "I love you, dad. I'm so sorry," she whispers before petting his hair back with a sad smile. Turning to me, Maddie steps in between my parted legs and frames my face, pressing a kiss to my own forehead, "I'll be outside," she tells me and I nod my head and watch her leave the bedroom.
Sighing, I stand up and look down at Maddie's dad, "I'm sorry that things had to end like this between you Maddie. I tried to get her to come talk to you, but she refused to and I'm sorry for that. I wanted her to make things right with you because I knew your health was getting worse, but she was so mad at you and told me that she would come to you when she was ready. I'm sorry that she was too late, but regardless of what she voiced, she loved you so much.
"I know you didn't like me and that's alright. I forgive you for what happened 20 years ago, even though I know I have every right not to. Just know, I love your daughter more than life itself and I treat her like the queen she deserves to be. Maddie is safe with me and I'll never let any harm come to her. I don't plan on ever letting her go, so I'm going to give her the best life possible. Even though I'm beyond grateful for it, I know I'm not worthy enough to have Maddie's love; but I'm going to prove to her and you that she made the right choice by choosing me as her partner. I'll give her the family and life she deserves. You have my word on that. I'll never stop loving and caring for Maddie for as long as live. If you can believe in anything…believe that. Rest easy, Ron," I say and leave the room, closing the door behind me.
Making my way downstairs, I detour to the kitchen and grab Maddie some water before heading outside to find her putting her cell into her back pocket. Looking up at me, Maddie holds a solemn smile on her face, "well, it's done. Now we just need to wait for them to get here," she explains to me and I nod my head, handing her the water bottle I found in the fridge.
"Here, baby. I figured you'd want something to drink," I respond, joining Maddie on the bench that sits on the front porch.
Maddie immediately cuddles into my side and takes a small sip, placing the bottle next to her. "I know I already said it, but thank you for being here with me. I'd be a lot worse off right now if I didn't have you with me," she says quietly and I wrap my arm around her shoulders, holding her close.
"There is no need to thank me, darlin'. I'll always be here. Even when we fight, I'll always be here," I whisper into her hair before pressing a kiss to her temple.
The next few hours fly by, but at the same time they feel like they drag on forever. We finally make it home just as the sun sets after taking care of everything that we were able to take care of. Maddie beelines straight for the couch and plops herself down, letting herself melt into the cushions. "I'm so exhausted, it's not even funny," she sighs dejectedly as I take the spot next to her.
"I know, babe," I reply and begin to run my fingers through Maddie's hair when she lays down, resting her head on my lap. "You've done all you can today and I know it's going to be difficult considerin' the situation, but just try and relax and we can continue with everything else that needs to be done tomorrow. I already called Luke and he's givin' me all the time I need to help you and be here for you with all of this. If you're up for it, he and Karl would really like to see you tonight when they get out of work. They're even offerin' to bring dinner over; your choice, honey," I say, looking down at her.
Rolling onto her back, Maddie looks up at me with tired eyes, but a small smile graces her beautiful face. "I'd like that…a lot. I need a distraction right now and Karl's shenanigans would be a breath of fresh air. Could we stay like this for a little bit though before you text him? I want just a little bit of quiet time with you," she replies.
"Of course we can, darlin'. Just let me know when," I tell her as I frame the side of her face, stroking her cheek with my thumb, returning her smile.
"I love you," Maddie whispers to me in the quiet living room, lightly grasping my forearm, keeping it in place.
"I love you, too, darlin'," I reply and maneuver my arm to grasp Maddie's hand, raising it up to my lips to press a kiss to the back of it before putting it back into place as it was moments before.
Maddie reaches up and frames the side of my face, stroking my beard before she leans up and I meet her halfway, pressing a kiss to her lips. She suddenly sits up and throws a leg over my lap, straddling me. Taking me off guard, Maddie kisses me hard and deepens it before shoving her tongue into my mouth. I return her kiss, holding her close as our tongues battle one another. I let Maddie take control of it, but she soon breaks the kiss and trails her lips along my jaw and to the side of my neck.
"Shit, Maddie," I moan when she gently bites into my skin before running her tongue over her mark. My moan grows louder when Maddie grinds her hips roughly into mine until she begins a slow rhythmic roll, making me harder by the second.
"I want you," Maddie breathes, "and I know you want me too, I can feel how hard you are. I wanna feel you deep inside me as you fill me up," she whispers seductively into my ear before tracing it's shell with the tip of her tongue.
"Oh fuck. Stand up…now," I order Maddie and she quickly obeys me, watching as I strip myself of my clothes. She gets the hint and strips herself of her own clothes before mounting herself back on top of me.
Grabbing my dick, Maddie slowly lowers herself down onto me until I fill her to the hilt, ripping moans from the both of us. "Oh god, Allen," she whimpers as she begins to ride me and I grip her hips, splaying my hands along the spans of them as far as they can go.
"That's it, Maddie. Take me and make me yours. Ride me and let yourself get lost in me. Forget everything else but us and feel me, Maddie. Feel all of me; every inch as I fill you…stretch you…take you to heights that only I can take you to," I rasp out, watching her as she rises and falls, letting me glide in and out of her slick heat with ease; like I was meant for her and her alone. Like our bodies were meant for one another as we become one.
Our eyes connect and something happens that's never happened before; I see our future flash before me. I see Maddie walking towards me in a beautiful white dress and then it flashes to her holding our newborn child in a hospital bed as she smiles lovingly up at me. "Allen…Allen, baby," Maddie's voice rips me away from some of the best things I've ever had the pleasure of being able to witness to find her looking at me with hooded, love-filled eyes, "you alright, sweetheart?" She pants out in between breathes.
Reaching one hand around to her back, I bring Maddie in as close as our bodies will allow and look her straight into her eyes, "I've never been more perfect, darlin'. Just thinkin' about you, me and our future together, baby," I say and capture her lips with my own.
Maddie rests her hands on my shoulders and breaks the kiss, letting her hands run down to rest on my pecs, looking into my eyes. "Oh yeah?" She breathes as she continues to roll her hips hard into mine. "What about our future?" She asks.
I want so badly to tell her what I saw. I know what we've confessed and promised to each other, but it doesn't stop my insecurities from rearing their ugly head again. My fear of losing Maddie because I told her I saw our wedding day as well as the birth of our first child.
"Allen…" Maddie whispers, pressing her chest against mine. Burying her face into my neck, Maddie ghosts her lips over my skin, placing soft, wet kisses there…"what were you thinking about, baby?" She tries again and I divert her attention by thrusting my hips up into hers, taking control.
Putting my focus on that, I intensify the power of my hips thrusting up into Maddie's, pounding into her relentlessly. It seems to be working because she tightens her hold on me as her moans and cries for me grow louder. I praise Maddie quietly, whispering in her ear when I suddenly tilt my hips, letting my dick hit her spot over and over again, making her lose all train of thought except me fucking the shit out of her.
"Yeah, scream my name for me, Maddie. Let me know how I'm makin' you feel," I grunt, tightening my hold on her hips, keeping her in place and continue to fuck her into oblivion. I lean back and my eyes meet Maddie's. She's so far gone and lost in me, that I provide her with a small smirk. "You like that, Madison? Huh? You like it when I fuck you good and rough?" I ask her and she dumbly nods her head.
"You're close too, aren't ya? I can feel your walls squeezin' me so tight. Come for me, Maddie. Come on, darlin'. Come all over me," I rasp out, my voice becoming husky as my own orgasm creeps up on me.
Maddie's mouth drops open, trying desperately to meet my thrusts, but I don't let her. Instead, I reach in between our bodies and press my thumb to her clit, creating small tight circles and her body begins to spasm; I watch the euphoria consume her as she screams out my name and it has my ego growing tenfold. "A–Al–Allen! Ohhh my go–fuuuuuck!" She wails out and squirts all over me.
She tries to get away as I know her release has ripped through her and her senses are on overload, but I'm not finished yet. I know she has another orgasm crawling to the surface by the look on her face. "Come on, goddamn it! Fuckin' let go for me, Maddie! Come all over me, again," I growl out my demand, slamming my hips up into her, the sound of our skin slapping deafening. "Make me come, Maddie. Squeeze me and take everything I've got," I ground out.
I can feel Maddie's walls produce a death grip on my cock and I know she's about to come and come hard. "That's it, darlin'. Oh fuck!" I bellow out, my own release slamming into me and I shoot load after load deep into Maddie as she releases hard, crying out my name. She collapses on top of me, moaning quietly as I help bring both of us down; my thrusts becoming soft and shallow, until I stop, completely spent.
Maddie hasn't moved, but I can still feel her heart beating a mile a minute and with the way her head is resting on me, I know she can hear mine beating just as strong. I wrap my arms around her and press gentle kisses to her forehead, whispering sweet nothings to her as she lets her body calm down. "You were so good for me, baby. I love you, so much, Maddie," I whisper, running my fingers through her hair.
I feel her cuddle further into me and wrap her arms around my body. "I love you, too, Allen," she whispers back, pressing her lips to my chest before relaxing into me. After a few moments of silence, Maddie speaks back up, "what about our future were you thinking about?" She asks me again and my body momentarily stiffens, silently cursing that she's bringing it back up. "Allen?" Maddie calls my name quietly and goes to lean back to look up at me, but I tighten my hold on her, preventing her from doing so. "Allen, let me up," she demands me softly.
I release my hold on her and she sits up, looking at me with confusion written all over her face. "What was that all about? Talk to me. What's wrong?" Maddie asks softly, running her fingers through my hair, seeing the hesitation in my eyes. "Allen, talk to me, baby. You're scaring me," she whispers, fear of her own creeping into her voice as tears begin to gather in her eyes.
Reaching up, I frame her face in both of my hands and rid her of the tears that frame her eyes. "Hey, don't cry," I whisper and lean in, pressing a kiss to her. Licking my lips, I connect my eyes with Maddie's, "Don't be scared. I–I want to tell you what I was thinking…I'm just terrified that I'll be the one to scare you away when I tell you," I explain to Maddie and she looks at me dumbfounded at my confession.
"Try me, Allen. There is nothing about our future that you have to tell me that will scare me away. How many times do I have to tell you that I'm not going anywhere. Please don't let your past and your insecurities affect our relationship. I love you and I'm here to stay," she reassures me, grabbing my wrists, the look in her eyes begging me to believe her.
I twist my wrists to grab Maddie's hands and lace our fingers together. "I know, I'm sorry. I'm workin' on that. Trust me…I am. It's just…if I ever did lose you, it's something I'd never be able to come back from. You're my life, Maddie. My world. My ride or die…my partner in crime when we crack jokes on Luke and Karl. You're the one I want by my side through everything and I mean everything. I want to start a family and spend the rest of my life with you. You're it for me Maddie; I don't want anyone else," I babble, breaking all eye contact with her, not wanting to see the look in them in fear of what I'll see.
I feel small hands rest on either side of my face as Maddie touches her forehead to mine, "look at me, Allen," she orders quietly and I obey her command, slowly meeting her eyes. "You think I don't want the same thing? I've done things for you that I would never do for anyone else. What I feel for you I've never felt for anyone else and I never will. I want you just as much as you want me and I do want to spend the rest of my life with you. As far as starting a family with you…" Maddie says before pausing and anxiety shoots throughout my entire body. I hold my breath, anticipating her answer.
"…it's going to scare the shit out of me and I'm terrified as hell, but I do want to start a family with you. 2 months ago, before you even came into my life, I had no desire to have kids. Wanting to have a family was at the bottom of my list. But you changed that, Allen. All of it," she tells me and my eyes widen in love, surprise and awe for the woman on my lap.
"Maddie…" I breathe. She quiets me, pressing her lips softly to mine.
"I love you more than anything else in this world and that scares me to death because I've never felt this way about anything or anyone before. When I looked into your eyes that night I ran into you at Missy's, I knew I was a goner. I didn't want to, but I knew I was going to fall for you hook, line and sinker and I knew there would be nothing I could do about it. So tell me…what did you see?" Maddie asks.
"I saw you in a beautiful white dress, walkin' towards me with the biggest smile on your face, but then it turned into you sitting in a hospital bed, holding our newborn child…and the way you were smiling at me…" I breathe with a small laugh, "…it's something I'll never be able to get out of my head," I tell her and Maddie looks at me with a big smile of her own.
"You did?" She whispers and I nod my head, my smile matching hers.
"I did, darlin' and you don't know how relieved I am that you feel the same way," I reply, grasping Maddie's hips before running them up her sides and back down to rest at the rise of her rear, pushing her into me, mindful that I'm still buried deep side of her.
"We're soulmates, Allen. There is no way I wouldn't be just as ecstatic as you are," Maddie replies after releasing a soft moan, "but you need to take me one more time before we contact the boys," she tells me with a grin on her face that I can't help but return.
"Yes ma'am," I return her grin and proceed to rock her world once more.
