Chapter 9
Bella was breastfeeding Lumi while Luna was sleeping in her cot. She was playing softly with Luna's tiny toes, rolling one little pearl between her thumb and forefinger at the time. It was all Bella did these days; feeding her two daughters and keeping them close. But she loved every minute and couldn't be happier.
Paul was at the pack meeting but had promised to keep it as short as possible. There was some issue with the two younger wolves, but Paul hadn't elaborated further on the matter. And right now, she didn't care. She would sense if it were something that made Paul upset. Whenever that happened, she demanded to know so she could be there for him. But she didn't need to know everything. Not anymore.
She removed her hand from the cot and brushed off the milk spill from Lumi's chin with her thumb. The milk had risen with full force, and she sprayed it all over. Poor babies were saturated with her milk.
She sighed happily and looked around the nursery. They had painted the walls light green and grey a couple of weeks ago. When they came home from the hospital, Paul ordered butterfly wall stickers from the shop where they'd bought the cribs. They'd arrived yesterday, and now two walls were full of colorful different-sized butterflies flying and sitting on flowers. It was beautiful.
When Bella had asked Paul why butterflies, she didn't care what there was on the walls, he'd told her it was what their two girls reminded him the most. They were his precious butterflies, the most delicate creatures on earth. She had burst into tears hearing him saying that—bloody hormones.
The pack had visited them in pairs from day two they'd been home, only Kim and Milly hadn't come. All things considered, it was probably for the best. She felt sorry for them. She couldn't hate them; she just hoped they could find happiness and be content with their lives.
All the wolves had transformed into cooing softies when they saw their two baby girls. It had been a funny thing to see. And something mystical had occurred too; she had felt it through her connection to Paul. Paul told her that every single wolf had locked, connected to their alpha's pups. It was written in their genome to protect and love every pup born into a pack, but alpha pups were essential for the continuity of the pack. This connection had surprised Paul too. He had read about it from the papers Kal-lape had left behind, but to experience, it firsthand was another matter altogether.
What had melted Bella's heart was Quil. He had fallen in love with their daughters like they were his own. Paul assumed It was an instinctual thing for his wolf. He wouldn't probably have offspring of his own, so he had formed a connection to the alpha pups. The connection wasn't like soul mate in imprinting but as essential to Quil as the imprinting was. Their daughters had gained a big brother in Quil.
Bella was happy for her girls and Quil. She didn't know Quil that well, but she wanted to get to know him better. She loved having him as a big brother for her baby girls. But she didn't buy Paul's assumption of Quil never having his own kids. She had met Neil a few times and liked him, and Claire was a unique personality. And what she had felt when they all had been together was that they all shared a special bond together. They were a throuple, they probably didn't sense it themselves yet, but Bella knew - with a certainty she didn't know where it came from - that they would all be in a relationship with each other sooner or later. It made her even happier. Quil deserved to be happy after how his grandfather had treated him.
Bella wanted to get to know them all better, the whole pack. She hadn't so much before, but she could see that these people would be great for their daughters. Lumi and Luna deserved to have loving people in their lives. She didn't have a big family, only her mother, Ben, and Patrick; the pack would be an extended family for the girls. After giving birth to the girls, she had lost all negative feelings towards some in the pack, and she loved it. Life was too short to hold grudges.
But for now, they needed their space and time to bond as a family, only the four. Quil was the only exception; he was allowed to visit them more often if that was what he needed. It was what he, the man especially needed. Bella could already see how the energy he got from the bond had made him more confident, and Jacob had told her that Quil was more himself after he had connected with the girls.
Luna made a grunting noise, and Bella moved her hand back to the crib. She placed her hand on her tummy and kept it there. She admired her thick black hair, button nose, and tiny pink lips. The girls looked identical; only the little mole Luna had behind her left ear separated them from each other at this point.
It was only eight days since she'd given birth to her baby girls, but Bella was already fully healed, thanks to the wolf's healing salvia. Paul had insisted on letting his wolf take care of her, and after she was able not to think about what the wolf was going to do, she gave in. The wolf was an animal, after all. She shouldn't think of him as a human.
Bella also trusted that the wolf knew what was best for her. It was what the wolf needed to do; to take care of his mate, heal her. And of that, she was grateful; she felt wonderful, the tear she got when pushing the babies out had vanished entirely, and even the bleeding had stopped. Her midwife in the hospital had told her that the bleeding usually lasted many weeks, even up to six weeks. She was all for some magic if it made life a bit easier. And she wouldn't be a mother of twin girls without it. Her eyes filled with unshed tears; to think that she hadn't had Luna and Lumi was too painful.
Her phone buzzed. It was a text from Paul
What's wrong?
Silly man, he had sensed her sadness.
Nothing, just emotional.
Good. Be home soon.
Lumi had fallen asleep, and her nipple had popped out of her tiny mouth. Bella wiped her face with soft muslin and moved Lumi carefully to her shoulder to burp her. She tapped her nappy glad bum gently and, after she burped, put Lumi on her cot.
Luna didn't stir, so she let her sleep. It wasn't even two hours since she last ate. Bella made sure the baby monitors were on and went to the kitchen, where the receiver unit was standing on the island. She turned it on and went to boil some water, graving licorice tea. She would have a cuppa with some shortbread biscuits Paul had made this morning.
Sitting down in the breakfast nook, she sipped her tea and munched the cookies. She was practically vibrating with happiness. Being a new mother to two baby girls was much more than she had ever expected. The amount of love she felt towards them and the need to protect, nurture, and cherish them. It was almost overwhelming.
She knew that it was partly the hormones that made her feel this way, nature's way of ensuring that a mother took care of her offspring, but it didn't make it any less real. She also knew that soon she would be sleep-deprived and too tired even to go to shower, hoping to have even a little time just for herself. But right now, everything was perfect in their bubble. Here in La Push, they were safe, and nothing could touch them. She didn't think about the outside world with its looming danger.
She felt like playing. She hadn't played for almost two weeks now, but of course, she couldn't; she would wake up the babies. They had planned to build her a soundproof outhouse, where she could play without disturbing anyone, but they hadn't got to it yet. She grabbed her music folder from the side table and wrote down the melody playing in her mind. She hummed it and moved her fingers in the air, imagining playing the tune.
"Baby," Paul whispered, wrapping his arms around her and nuzzling her mark. She got instantly aroused and leaned against him.
"I didn't hear you," she said, turning her head so Paul could kiss her.
"You never do," Paul chuckled and kissed her. She moaned into the kiss and lifted her hands, tugging her fingers into his hair. Paul moaned and lifted her into his arms.
"I missed you, baby," he said and walked towards the nursery. "I want to see the girls, but then I want you."
Bella wanted too. It was crazy to think that it was just over a week since she'd given birth, but her body was fully healed and ready; she missed their physical connection so much.
Paul carried her to the nursery and put her on her feet. He leaned down to kiss Lumi on her forehead and then Luna. Babies grunted in their sleep; the sound was so adorable it made Bella giggle.
"Shh, don't wake them up. I need my wife," Paul whispered and lifted her into his arms again.
"We need the monitor."
"I can hear them," Paul said.
Paul carried her to their bedroom but left the door open. He had only shorts on, and not wanting to waste any time, she pulled them down. Who knew when the babies would wake up. Paul's huge erection was jutting against his stomach, making her mouth water.
She dragged her nails down Paul's torso earning a hiss from him. She lifted her arms, and Paul pulled her shirt off.
"I think we need to leave bras on. I don't want to spray milk on you. Not very sexy is it," she giggled.
"Baby, I don't mind. In fact, I find it damn sexy. Mother of my babies marking me with her milk. A fucking turn on," Paul said huskily, peeling the bras off her body. His eyes burned with lust, and his shaft twitched against her abdomen, enforcing his words. He crushed his mouth on hers, tweaking her heavy breasts. Her knees buckled, and her panties soaked.
All barriers in Bella's mind vanished, and before she noticed, she was all naked and pinned against the wall. Not having the big bump between them anymore, Bella pulled Paul tightly against her body. She wanted to feel all of him. Paul's fingers skimmed her wet folds, and pushing in; he stretched her walls deliciously.
"So fucking wet," he groaned.
"Fuck me, baby. Fast. I want to finish before the girls wake up," Bella panted. She was frantic. She needed this so much. She wanted to be wanted and desired. She needed Paul's cock inside her.
Paul grabbed his cock and brushed the tip along her slit before thrusting slowly inside of her. They both moaned loudly.
"It doesn't hurt?" Paul asked, pulling out slowly and back in again.
"No... ooohhh," Bella moaned, feeling her walls starting to clamp already. It felt so good, better than ever before.
"So tight. You're still so fucking tight," Paul panted and started to thrust harder.
"Yes! Ah... Yes!"
Paul's hard cock made her fly; she was in seventh heaven, and her whole body was humming with need and satisfaction for getting what she wanted. She did feel her breasts leaking, but she didn't care.
Paul moved from the wall to the bed. He placed her carefully on edge, lifting her legs over his shoulders, and started to fuck her. She burned; she felt so full. It was a wonderful feeling.
"Your mine!" he grunted, eyes shining yellow.
"Oh yes!" Bella moaned, thrashing her head.
Hot and hard. Paul fucked her good, so damn good... But too soon, Bella started to orgasm around Paul, and he howled, shooting his semen inside her. He leaned over her body and crushed his mouth on hers. Still pulsing inside, heart hammering, and yes, milk soaking their bed, Bella ate her husband with the passion she felt. Aftershocks rippled through her body, and she orgasmed again around Paul's still hard cock. Paul groaned and thrust deeper.
"Dear Lord Paul," she panted, "what is this? So intense. Incredible."
"Having babies makes sex better. I read somewhere," Paul said, chuckling, still breathing heavily.
And then, two sets of cries carried from the nursery. Fast was going to be their new normal, it seemed.
"I'll go to them. You go and have a shower," Paul said, nuzzling her neck.
God, how she loved him.
Jacob was fuming. He watched their front door that Milly had just slammed on his face on her way out. He couldn't understand his imprint. Why was Milly so full of hate and bitterness? Why she could not let the past be and enjoy their lives. They had a pretty good life. Jacob had just turned 18, and he was going to open his garage for customers and had excellent plans to expand when he gained a steady customer base. He had all the possibilities to build a successful business. Milly was finishing high school in two months and had been accepted to the law school in Seattle. Before Paul became an alpha, she hadn't even thought about going to study. Why did she carry on hating Paul and Bella? Jacob didn't get it.
Yes, Jacob had hated Paul with gusto when he'd been under the Old Quil's spell and felt that Paul mistreated his sister. Had thought Paul thinking of himself as being better and above them all, not excepting what their gods had offered to him. But after the purification, he saw how things were and could feel only admiration and respect towards his alpha.
Rachel had always been selfish and cared only about her own pleasures, but she should have stepped down and let Paul have what he wanted instead of forcing herself on him. Be selfless for once and think of others. But it wasn't what Rachel was.
But Jacob loved his sister all the same and felt sorry for her. She wasn't mentally stable, and the whole episode of imprinting and being denied had made a number on her. She would probably never be well again. And in that, his father had a role to play. It was he who had made Rachel think that she could get Paul and, in doing so, made Rachel sick.
Nonetheless, Jacob couldn't hate his father. Deep down, he knew that his father had wanted what he thought was best for his children. Billy Black was an old fool, but at least he'd realized what he did was wrong and had shown remorse. Not something one could say about Old Quil.
Rachel was serving her punishment for nearly killing Bella – a thing Jacob still couldn't believe had happened - in a local elderly home. She was helping nurses there. It was what Bella had chosen for her punishment. It had been her duty since it was her who, against Rachel, had done wrong. Jacob thought it was the best thing that happened to Rachel, not an actual punishment. Rachel herself, though, didn't feel the same; her hate towards Bella was stronger than ever.
Jacob could understand why Rachel hated Bella but why Milly did too. From the moment she'd met Bella, she had disliked her. Jacob assumed Milly didn't quite understand it herself; it was beyond rational.
If Jacob was honest, he was ashamed of his imprint. It was an honor to be part of Paul's pack. Having him as an alpha had made his life and all pack's life better, apart from Milly and Kim. They continued to poison their lives as Old Quil had done.
He and Paul had been able to get past their differences, and after the incident in Seattle, Jacob had earned his alpha's respect too. Acting fast and taking Bella away from the scene where Paul dismantled the leech attacking them had been a wise move. To see the decapitation had been bad enough, but to witness Paul's full rage would have scarred her for life. Paul had let them see it in his mind; it was most likely for their benefit so they would understand not to cross him. No one would be that fool. And no one had any reason to.
Jacob sighed. He decided not to go after Milly. When she was having one of her fits, nothing went through her. She would be mad that he hadn't run after her, but he was tired of being at the mercy of her mood swings. Maybe that was the problem; he was too submissive. Perhaps he should grow some balls and not take shit from her anymore. Yeah. His wolf perked up; he was all for beating the bitchiness out of his imprint, metaphorically, of course, unless... hmm there's a thought.
His phone rang. It was Embry.
"What's up, man?" he inquired.
"Not much. Hey, I just saw Milly and Kim driving away from the Res. Thought you wanted to know," Embry said.
"Shit. Yes, thanks for telling me."
What the fuck were those two up to now? He had a bad feeling about this, very bad.

What I love about fanfiction is that you can make up whatever you want. 😊 Especially when you write a story with shapeshifters and vampires in it.
