A/N: Hello again, everyone!

I've decided to make Élise's AG installation on the last Monday of January the 27th.

Previously on Criminal Minds…

"I can't believe this is actually happening…A chance for me becoming the next Attorney General."

"… You'd be making history..."

"…Promise me that whatever happens…"

"...Ride or die 'till death do us part…"

"Senate made their decision… I'm going to be the Attorney General of this country…"

"Oh, Élise…"

"I'm going to be the AG…Me."

After seeing Élise's official announcement that Senate confirmed her to be the country's next Attorney General, her family and Spencer's parents made surprise visits for the weekend and would be leaving Tuesday afternoon.

It was the night before the big sworn-in at the Justice Department. Élise lounged back in the chair outside on the balcony, slowly drinking her lukewarm cup of Earl lavender tea.

Sip after sip, she kept thinking about her way from graduating from law school to being one of the country's most influential people.

"Whoo-hoo!" Élise envisioned back to her Harvard Law graduation. "I did it!"

Now it was her moving to D.C. for her career; her first interview job at Chadwick and Gordon with her boss, Jasper Lamont, to be a first-year associate. "Hello there…"

Clerking for Justice Greenfeld…

Getting an offer from the U.S. Attorney…

Nomination to be a D.C. Circuit Judge…

Her testimony hearings…

And now this.

"You okay?" Élise flinched when she heard someone. She turned her head, and Spencer was standing by the creak-opened door with a cup in his hands. "You know, I read cherry juice has tryptophan, melatonin, and other anti-inflammatory substances to help improve sleep."

Élise still stared at the bag steeping at the bottom of the cup before having another sip. "I think I'm good, but thanks again, babe…"

Spencer walked over to her, set the cherry juice cup on the mini table set up, and sat next to her. The weather outside wasn't so cold but relatively calm, the only sounds were the beautiful cricket chirping, and there were dark gray clouds in the midnight blue sky. "Are you nervous about the installation?"

"Wouldn't you?" she asked back.

Spencer moved his head in an I-see-your-point-there. He sighed, "But did you know that nervousness is caused by the body releasing stress hormones, like…"

Élise rubbed her hand into her temple. "Spence…"

He hissed his teeth and slanted his mouth to the side, immediately regretting that it was the wrong thing to say to Élise right now. He had a drop of cherry juice, licked his lips, and exhaled. "It's okay to be vulnerable. Feeling nervous about this means you care about being this country's AG, and you want to do a good job."

Élise scratched a spot on her temple and had her hand over her face. "Now, I'm really feeling nauseous…"

Spencer got up from his seat and held his hand out for Élise. She took his hand; he helped her up and led her to bed for a good night's rest.

Élise did manage to get some sleep—at least seven hours—and now it was breakfast time; her mother offered to cook breakfast for everyone.

"Here, Lise…" her mother scooped some oatmeal in a small white bowl and slid it to Élise, sitting at the counter. "I cracked some hardboiled eggs and put in some berries, flaxseeds, and nuts."

"Thanks, ma…" Élise sounded droned and defeated, having her hand on her cheek when she picked up her small silver utensil, scooped a spoonful, and had a bite. Then she had a couple more bites and declined now. "I…think I'm full now…"

Everyone now worried and saw how her nerves were getting to Élise; even Opal whimpered when Élise left. Though her father already had an omelet with spinach, cheese, and bacon, he offered to have some of his daughter's oatmeal.

After that shortly quick breakfast, Élise took a longer-than-expected shower; her mind still felt in whack, and she felt that sleep crust gunk in her eyes. After drying her hair and giving it a weekly wash, she noticed it steamed on the mirror and used her towel to wipe it off.

Élise sighed as she placed her hands on the porcelain sink and stared down at it. After a couple of seconds, Élise lifted her head up and saw her reflection in the mirror. Droopy eyes, rough feeling skin.

"Lise…"

Élise cried when she turned around, her hands back against the sink again, and drew an exhale when she saw Spencer already dressed in a soft lavender dress shirt with a matching color tie, a deep, rich gray suit, and matching oxfords.

Élise bit down on her bottom lip. "How many times do I have to tell you?" she sunk her shoulders back against the sink. "Stop doing that."

Spencer held his hands up. "Sorry, honey…"

Élise looped around again, hunched her shoulders, and bowed her head, staring at the sink again. "No, babe, I'm sorry, baby… I'm just nervous," she nipped on her thumbnail to stop her jaw from wobbling. "I can't help but think of all the s…"

"Stuff…" Spencer knew Élise would swear.

Élise nodded. "Stuff…that could go wrong."

Spencer took a few steps and entangled Élise in his arms. It was just what Élise needed right now. She was engrossed in his touch, the smell of his charcoal, bamboo, and jojoba body wash mixed with the coffee he had with cinnamon, ginger, and mint.

"It's going to be okay, babe…" his smooth tone was already easing her mind. "Nothing's going to go wrong, anyway. Hell, I'll never let anything or anyone in this entire world, universe, galaxy, whatever, happens nor hurt you. Just like our children, I'd die for you. And besides, it'll be at the Justice Department. The chances of anything bad happening are a billion to one…"

Now Élise detected the nerves coming again. "What if this moment could be 'the one?'"

Spencer squeezed her tighter in his arms. "Élise… nothing's going to happen, okay?" he kissed her cheek. "I love you…"

Élise swung her head to face him. "I love you, too…" she smooched him back.

Spencer's words did wonders for Élise. Her self-confidence increased; the tensions and chronic curls she felt from last night and this morning were borderline gone.

She styled her semi-damped hair with some leave-in conditioner from Carol's Daughter, blow-dried for about five to ten minutes, and applied a little more hair mask and serum.

Then Élise got dressed in an outfit she got set up the night of the confirmation, even though she kept going back and forth about if she really wanted to wear it. A Duro Olowu top, black jacket, and skirt with black pull-up stockings and heels.

The only makeup she had on after washing her face and skincare routine was concealer, bronzer, mascara, and lip gloss. Her accessories were her favorite small gold earrings, necklace, bracelet, and her 18k yellow gold Cartier Tank Françoise watch.

"Perfect." Élise said to herself in the mirror.

Spencer knocked on the bathroom door and pecked his head in.

"Your parents are ready; Arthur and Bea are ready, and my dad's ready," said Spencer; Diana opted not to go, and both he and Élise knew it was for the better, but at least they were glad William was going with them. "Ready?"

Élise had one last look in the mirror. "Let's do this…"

The Bastien-Reid families made it to the Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building on Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C. between thirty-five-to-forty minutes.

Even just before stepping out of the black Suburban, there was a bunch of camera flashing, the media before the velvet ropes, and federal agents protected the families; Spencer led everyone into the building.

The families arrived in a small room and waited for about five minutes before the U.S. President, First Lady, Vice President, and Second Lady came in for a quick chat and posed for some pictures. Ms. Geneva was in awe and almost passed out in her son and husband's arms before pulling herself together.

The two families were escorted to their seats, and Élise and the Vice President chatted for a little bit more before going to the other room where the media was. Everyone in the family smiled with pride as the Vice President gave a speech, and after about twelve minutes came to the sworn-in. Spencer stood beside her and helped hold the Bible during the oath of office.

"I, Élise Gabrielle Bastien, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

The room applauded for Élise before she stepped up to the podium and gave a speech.

"Hey, mommy's on TB…!" Isaac pointed to the television.

Séraphine waved to the television. "Hey, mommy…!"

At the BAU, everyone in the bullpen watched Élise giving her speech.

"Woo-hoo!" Garcia cheered. "Go, Élise!"

Hotch had his arms folded and smiled; the same with Rossi.

Blake wiped a tear from her eye. "I'm so proud of her…"

"Same…" said Morgan.

Later that evening, the two families had a celebratory dinner in honor of Élise; Brenda made a paella plate; Ms. Geneva a garden salad; Rose cream puffs, and linguine with tomato and lemon.

Once everyone had their drinks and helped themselves to a bit of the food at the formal dinner table, Arthur got up and held a glass in his hand.

"I'd like to propose a toast," he smiled at Élise. "Congrats, Élise. For making history as the first black woman to be this country's AG. We know you're going to do this country proud."

"Thanks, bro-bro." Élise blushed in embarrassment.

Since becoming AG, Élise watched the former AG testify before the SCJ, held a speech at the Criminal Division Awards Ceremony, a statement regarding the case involving the Boston Marathon Bomber, and prepared to give an address at the Sweden Parliament next week.

JJ was still on leave due to her recent abduction and torture at the hands of two people from her old task force when she was with the State Department; after work, Spencer decided to pay her a visit. After parking his car on her street, he got out of the driver's seat, opened the backseat door, and grabbed the big wicket Get Well basket. It had tea boxes, Cheeto bags, pretzels, dried fruit, and preserved jars.

He strolled the concrete walkway and two steps to her and Will's white townhouse and knocked on the white front door three times, and someone came after eight seconds.

"Spencer…" It was Will himself. His beard got a bit stubbier, and he was in a casual shirt and khakis. He stepped aside away from the door and allowed Spencer in the house.

Spencer wiped his shoes on the mat. "Hello, Will…" he gave Will the basket; Will thanked him as Spencer pecked inside the living/dining rooms and asked, "Where's Henry?"

Will had his hands in his pockets. "At a friend's house for a playdate."

"And Jennifer?"

"She's resting right now." Will sighed. "That Tivon bastard really did a number on her. Apart from waterboarding and spraying her down with a hose, he even electroshocked her. And Hastings…" he shook his head, not wanting to finish that sentence.

Spencer felt the chills, thinking back to when Tobias Hankel held him hostage and tortured him as well.

"We're talking with the Bureau therapist about it, but…" Will shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know…Henry doesn't know anything, and we prefer to keep it that way, but I think he can sense something up with her…" he massaged his forehead and sighed again. "It's just a lot for us right now."

Spencer sighed. "Would you mind if Élise and I took in Henry for the weekend?"

Will faced him. "You'd do that?"

"I would." Spencer wouldn't after he promised himself—and Élise—that they wouldn't babysit again after JJ missed picking Henry up when she got drunk from the Green Fairy with Garcia and Prentiss, but considering the circumstances, Spencer would give it a second chance. He hoped Élise would, too. Plus, it would provide JJ and Will a child-free weekend while she recovers.

Élise zipped her two travel bags and set them in her closet. She dusted her hands when she came out. "I got everything I need for Sweden," she said to herself. This is the first major overseas event since becoming AG. "All I have to do is make sure this trip goes on perfectly…"

She had an instant smile when Spencer came into the bedroom. "Baby…" she shimmered towards him and gave him a hug. "I love you, you know that…?" Élise gave him a kiss.

"I love you, too…" Spencer kissed her back. "And you love me enough to let Henry stay here for the weekend…?"

Élise's grin faded until she lifted an eyebrow, and a frown appeared. "Say what now?"

Spencer knew Élise was ready to go into one of her rambles. "Look. Believe me, I know JJ has not been your favorite person since last year…"

"Oh, don't remind me…" Élise did not need to be reminded of last year. "Spencer…"

He kept perusing her. "But Henry's my godson, and he's innocent in all this. JJ and Will need our help. Please, Lise…" he closed his palms together. "For me…?"

Élise's eyes wandered around, and she sighed, curving her lips up. Spencer did have a good point; Henry is his godson. And he looked so cute whenever he played up his puppy dog pouty look. And this could work in their favor in the future.

"Okay…"

Spencer grinned again.

On Friday, when it was close to four, Spencer watched Will pull up on the driveway and park the car.

"Hey, Spencer…" said Will when getting out of the car.

Spencer waved. "Hey, Will…" he bent down when he saw Henry climb out of the backseat of his father's car. "Uncle Spencer…!" he gave him a hug when Henry sprinted towards him.

"Henry! How are you doin'?"

Henry answered, "Good!"

Spencer asked again, "Did you have a good day of school?"

"Uh-huh…" Henry bobbed his head.

Will smiled, watching Spencer conversating with Henry, and looked at his watch. "I better get going. Be good, Henry…"

Henry flapped his hand around. "Bye, daddy…"

After watching Will drive off, Spencer led Henry into the house and had him wipe off his shoes before having him take them off.

"Okay, Henry…" Spencer took his backpack for him. "Why don't you go into the living room with Fifi and Ziggy? They're watching Mary Poppins, and Rose is getting some pizza for us."

"Yay…" Henry cheered when he ran into the living room and jumped to his seat.

After dinner, Spencer and Élise helped the children to bed, giving them baths, helping them brush their teeth, and tucking them in.

While Élise was getting Séraphine ready, Spencer got Isaac and Henry tucked in.

"Okay, you two…" Spencer got Isaac settled in first and ensured the trundle bed—the low, wheeled bed stored under Isaac's bed—was securely secured and got Henry tucked in. "Your teeth cleaned?"

The boys flashed their mouths; Spencer leaned forward to check. "Good. Anyone needs to use the bathroom?"

"Nope…"

Isaac blabbed. "Nah…"

"Okay…" Spencer gave Isaac a kiss on his head and Henry a hug. "Good night, you two…"

"Night…"

Spencer closed Isaac's bedroom door just as Élise came out of Séraphine's, wishing her good night. "Boys are nicely settled in. I take it Fifi's resting right now?"

Élise stretched her back. "Yup…we better get settled in; got a long weekend ahead before I leave for Sweden…"

After breakfast, Spencer and a disguised Élise took the children to the Hillwood Estate & Gardens for the Crêpe Day: Celebrate La Chandeleur.

Henry licked around his mouth after taking a few bites of the crepe Spencer got him. "Mmm…" he loved the taste of the peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut spread, honey, and jam he was having.

"Are you enjoying the crepe, Henry?" asked Spencer, with his hands on his godson's shoulders.

Henry, with a mouthful, nodded, "Mm-mmm…"

Isaac babbled, "Wee-wee!"

Élise giggled while having a crepe. "Our boy's speaking French already…"

Spencer checked in on the children in the playroom; Séraphine was playing with her dolls while Henry was teaching Isaac how to throw a small orange basketball into the hoop.

"Yay…!" Isaac cheered when he managed to get the ball into the hoop.

Spencer applauded his son. "Whoo-hoo!" he held his hand out for Isaac and Henry to high-five him, and they did. "Who wants dinner?"

"Me-me-me!" the children eagerly raised their hands.

"Follow Rose, and she'll take you downstairs." Spencer pointed to Rose, who stood by the door. Séraphine dashed to her first and Isaac waddled his way to her; Spencer held Henry back. "Someone wants to have a word with you on the phone…" Spencer handed Henry his cell phone.

"Hi, buddy…"

Henry squealed; his long blonde hair flapped back and forth in front of his face. "Mommy…!"

JJ replied, "Just call to see how you're good…"

"I am. I can't wait to see you and daddy tomorrow…"

"Me, too, buddy. I love you…"

"I love you, too…" Henry handed the phone back to Spencer and left the room. Once out of ear reach, Spencer whispered in hush tones.

Spencer offered his compassion. "I'm glad you're doing okay, Jennifer…"

"Me, too…" said JJ. "I'll call back again later before his bedtime. And Spence…thanks…"

JJ hung up, and Spencer joined everyone at the dinner table for jambalaya, cornbread, and bread pudding.
