Chapter 16: Nature of the Draw
Jaden and Syrus run past me and Alexis and Syrus asks "Jaden can you wait up?" Jaden doesn't stop running and say "I can't not on sandwhich day." As they walk into the card shop where the sandwhichs are and after Jaden and Sryus look over the the sandwhichs for a moment Jaden asks "Isn't sandwhich day the greatest Sy? All of these choices and nott one of them labled." Syrus looks at him suspiously and asks "How is that the greatest? There are ostrich burger,grilled tongue,and half a dozen other mystery meals that aren't exactly tasty." Jaden looks at Sy and says " Yea but there is 1 good 1 complimates of that magical rooster that lays that golden egg." Jaden then corrects Jaden and says "That is crazy talk everybody knows that rooster can't lay eggs." Jaden looks at for a second and looks back at the sandwhichs and says "Look the point is that eggwhich is delicious and is well worth rooting through all of those other nasty items to snag." Syrus looks at Jaden has he looks at the cart of sandwhichs and Syrus says "Well it has been 5 weeks since you been able to draw it so good luck." He waits a few moments and says "Here it goes" as he reaches down and grabs a sandwhich and opens it half and takes a bite of the sandwhich. He gets look on his face like he just ate a rotten egg and says "Grilled tongue" and he drops to his knees. Syrus leans and tries comfort Jaden by saying "I guess you are just in a slump Jaden, but I am sure you get over it soon." Alexis and I walk in behind them I look around for a moment and point at an empty table and Alexis go to sit down at the table while I draw the sandwhichs. I step run my hand over the cart and as everyone is watching I swiftly reach down and grab 2 sandwhichs and over to the table where Alexis is and toss her a sandwhich. Everyone watches her take a bite of the she smiles brightly and takes and Jaden comes over and say "So you got the eggwhich?" she look up and says "No I got a chocolate sandwhich." He looks and asks "Then who drew the eggwhich?"
Dorthy comes over ands say "Well over the last 5 weeks no one has at least no one I know someone must be sneaking in and stealing them." I look over at Dorthy and says "Stealing them." Syrus gets a surprised look on his face and says "Wow that theft must be pretty good to draw it week after week." Jaden narrows his eyes and looks angrly at and groans and scaring Syrus. Dorthy looks scared and says "It's ture none of the other sandwhichs are open anyway I'm sorry" and bows her head down. Jaden clenches his fists and say " No it's not your fault it's this eggwhich thefts fault which is why we are going to do something about it." Syrus gets closer to Jaden and says "Hold on we are?" Jaden turn toward Syrus and says "Yep we are going on sandwhich stakeout 24/7." Syrus smiles,nods, and says "Great"he then realizes what he just said then says "What!"
We are staking out sandwhich cart in the back of the card shop waiting for the sandwhich theif to show up Syrus and Jaden are playing old maiden and with Chumley waching them while Alexis is shitting on my lap reading a book. As Jaden goes to take a card from Syrus he says "Quite its coming slowly slowly here it comes"As he reaches up Syrus is shaking with antcipation as he draws a card and looks at it after saying "This one " and then lays it down and says "Yep high card." Syrus look down and say "Picking cards,drawing cards amazing". Jaden looks at him for a moment and then says "Thank you". Then Chumley asks "So do you think when this sandwhich theif guy comes he will have anything on him?" Jaden looks at Chemley and said "For the last time Chemley he steals egg sandwhichs not grilled cheese's." Jaden turns and see's us kissing and say "Would you tell him Alexis" She breaks the kiss and gets off of my lap before she says "It's ture Chum" and then sits in the chair next to and opens a turns back and asks in a whisper "Hey what is Lex doing over there any way?" Syrus looks over at Alexis and says "I think it is her homework." Alexis keeps on reading and says in her mind (What I am doing is waiting for this theif to come who know he may have something to do with my missing brother and all of the others.) Then Dorthy walks in with a tray full of snacks and asks "Who wants some stake out snacks here dig in" and she places the tray on the table. Chumley looks up and asks "Is it grilled cheese" he looks snacks and asks "What are those?" Dorthy just smiles and says "They are my special stuffed pastries and three kinds we have chocolate,strawberry, and lemon custered as well." Syrus smiles at Dorthy and says "Thanks " Chumley gets really close to the plate as Alexis and I come over and asks "Whats most like grilled cheese?" Dorthy starts to reach and say something but Jaden stops her and says "Wait we should draw an try and pick what we want I want strawberry." Chumley looks at Jaden and asks "Wait Jaden so you want to draw pastries like cards?" Then Syrus says "Thats a good idea" Alexis look over at Jaden and says "Go for it Jaden." We all watch him as he looks down and about to pick up a pastie and saying "Alright wish me luck" he picks one up and takes a bite says "Strawberry" and shows us. Syrus looks excitedly at Jaden and says "On your first try too Jaden way to go." Jaden looks over at Syrus and says "It is good to know I still got it you know when we get that eggwhich back I can almost taste it already."
A couple passes and we have all the light off and waiting for the eggwhich theif and we start to hear someone start to lift up the metal cover as we watch through the glass door. Syrus has a surprised look on his face and says "He's an animal." The eggwhich theif slide under the door that he partly opened and goes over to the sandwhich cart and starts to dig through it takes one out and says "Hmmm," We all sliently come out of the back room and Jaden says "Now" and Dorthy flip the lights on. The eggwhich theif looks up surprise when the lights turn on. We all move in front of him and Jaden says "Stop you thef" and then Syrus says "Put the eggwhich down." Dorthy looks at him sadly and lets out a yell like George of the jungle as he start to wheel the sandwhich cart torwards the front door and busts right through the metal cover. "Woah" Jaden and says and starts to chase after him and we all fallow behind him.
As we chase after the eggwhich theif near the top of of Deul Academy Jaden says "Stop" he doesn't he just keeps on running as fast as he can and we continue to chase him then Jaden says "Boy he can really move." As we are chasing him Alexis thinks to herself (This guy denfinitely gots something to hide there is no way we can let him get away). He reaches the end of the jumps off into the forest and swings from vine to then say "Finally we can stop runin." I run pass then and jump off of the building and laning on one the white slopes and slides down it and landing on the ground and chase after him leaving looking amazed. "Come on lets go after him" Jaden says as they take the long way around and as they do he says "We have to cut him off or we will never get those eggwhich back."
I am having a hard time keeping up with him as he swing from vine to vine as we come to a clearing he jumps to the ground infront of the and runs off torwards a waterfall nearby as we chase him. He starts to climb to the top of the waterfall and as we watch him climb Chumley asks "Now can we stop?" "Who on earth is this guy?" Jaden asks and from the disance we hear Dorthy yell "Damond" and he stops climbing as she runs up we all turn look back at as Jaden asks "You know him?" and Chumley say in between panting breaths " Take your time to answer I need a break." Dorthy looks up at him and says "Yes I know him and knows better then stealing." He looks back at her and looses his and falls into the small river the waterfall runs off into. We run up to the waters edge to see if he is alright and, as resurfaces and Dorthy gets a better look at him she says "My you have changed." He speak in deep voice and in broken english and says "I change I change for better." He then look down and Chumley says "Not your grammer." Jaden turn to Dorthy and asks "How do you know him ?" We all look at her as she says "Where else from school he use to be in Oblisk blue." We all look at him surprised and Jaden says "Boy they really had a chilled dress code back then." "No he looked different back then but, then one day he just disappered I was so sad he was one of my favorties always visting me at the card shack espically on sandwhich day" and she flahes back to memory.
(Flashback)
Him and a few other students are around the sandwhich cart drawing sandwhichs he pick one up and bites in to it get a weird look on his face while he says "Oh sardines" and drops to his knees as his draws are so bad.
(Flashback ends)
"Shame he was so bad at drawing" Dorthey finshes saying. We all look at him as Jaden ask "But this guy is always picking the good one are you sure it is the same person?" He starts to laugh slightly as he pulls himself out of the lake and says "Not same person I new person now I live in the nature I hone my skills." As Jaden coninues to look at him he asks "Well why did you leave?" He close and says "When I Oblisk I testt good but when come to deul Damond have some degree on difficulty" as he goes into a memory.
(Flashback)
Damon is faceing another Oblisk blue student with Jinzo (Atk 2400/Def 1500)on the field in Attack mode whilee he has Doron (Atk 900/Def 500) also in attack mode. Damon gets ready to draw and says "Alright time to take down Jinzo here I goes" he draws his next card which is fake trap an he says "Oh great a trap this is the worst draw I could have gotten I lost"
(Flashback Ends)
Damon puts his arm in front and starts to shake and says "My draw ruin me each time so I decide I must improve I do everything I can think of" he then has another flashback.
(Flashback)
He is standing at dock looking out to and yells "Someone please make me a better card drawer" and there is no answer only the sound of the waves coming back and forth then he realises something there is a way that he can now watch card will come next.
(Flashback end)
"Just like I know what come next with wave I realise I can know what come nextt in cards must simple be in tune with nature" says the new Damon. Then Alexis think to herself (I am thinking this guy can't help me find my brother in fact by the smell of him I don't think he can find a bar of soap). Damon continue and says "This why in live out here to train to learn to be one with nature to be one with the draw" and he has another flashback

Him training as he is running through snow in a blizzard only in his shorts. Once he belives he has become one with nature he goes to water to see if he is now one with draw and as cards fall with the water he is able to draw the five cards he want so he belives he is finally one with the draw.

Damon has his eyes close as he is rembering and open them and says "I get very good but, still only one way for I to be sure ultimate test I draw eggwhiches this is why I take them these past weeks not because I theif" he finishes as he starts to cry. Dorthy steps forward and put her hands together and says "We understand" then Jaden bluntly says "I don't I mean don't get me wrong Damon I don't think you a theif anymore but" Damon looks up and says "But"and Jaden continues with what he was saying "but this I like those eggwhiches as much as the next guy so lets deul if I win then you stop swiping them you win they'er all yours. Damon smiles and say "Fine but I expert drawer there is no way you beat me." Jaden puts his fist in front if his chest and say "Hey I am no slouch" Syrus looks at Jaden and says "It's ture" and Chumley says "He's the best I know" Alexis face plams herself as she can't belive this as Dorthy just looks on. I come up next to Jaden and ask "Are you sure you got this?" He look at me for a moment and say "No problem," Damon pulls out a deul disk and says "It's on now lets see how quick you are on the draw."
They are standing across from with their deul set and ready to deul. Jaden goes first and he summons Elemental Hero Avian(Atk1000/Def 1000) in attack mode and lays down a face down and ends his turn. "Just as trees swings to and fro I know what will come" Damon says as he draws his first card he first lays a card face down and summons Drawler (Atk?/ Def?) in attack mode. Syrus asks "Whats that thing?" and Chumley answers him with "Not friendly." Then Damon activates Drawler's effect by returning 4 card back to his deck from his it gain 500 points for each card putt it attack and defense at 2000. He attacks Avian and Jaden loses 1000 lp putting at 3000 and because Avian was detroy while in attack mode by Drawler it is sent to the bottom of Jaden's deck and he ends his turn. Jaden draws and plays Polymerizationto summon Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster (Atk 2000/Def 2500) in defense mode and then he uses her to deal 1000 point of damage to put him also at 3000 and ends his turn. Before Damon draws he activates his trap card Miracle Draw he gets to guess his next card if is right Jaden loses 1000 lp if he is wrong he loses 1000 lp. He closes his eyes concentrate a waterfall appears in his mind and shows him the spell card Card Loan he draws and is correct put Jaden at 2000lp. He plays Card Loanby giving Jaden 1000 point and him loseing 1000 so he can draw a card. He uses the card he just called Drawberwhich makes Jaden draw card if he guess right all of his cards go back to his deck. Jaden draws a card and Damon closes his eyes and goes back to the waterfall in and see's the card Defusion and he chosses it and is correct emptying Jaden hand and his field also empty. Then he attacks with Drawler giving Jaden 2000 points of direct damage dropping Jaden from 3000 to 1000 and Damon ends his turn, Jaden draws a card and sets a card face down defense mode and ends his uses the effect of Miracle Draw again and closes his eyes and goes back to waterfall in his mind and trys to will Sheild Crush to be his next card he opens his eye too and pronouces Sheild Crush and draw his card and is wrong and draws Doron so Damon loses 1000 points putting him at 1000 he then summons Doron(Atk 900/Def 500) in attack mode he attacks first with Drawler destorying Jadens face down card which was Wroughtweiler which allows him to take a polymerization and a fusion monster from his graveyard and add it to his hand. Then he attacks Jaden directly with Doron leaving Jaden with only 100lp left then Damon ends his turn. Jaden draw his old friend Avian but plays polymerization and fuses togather Elemental Hero Avian and Elemental Hero Burstinatrix to summon hisElemental Hero Flame Wingman(Atk2100/Def 1200) in attack mode. Then Jaden has him attack Drawler destorying him lowering Damon's life points to 900 and thanks to Wingmans effect Damon takes 2000 more ponits of damge putting at zero and ending the deul.
He falls to his knees and starts speak in normal voice again and says "I can't belive I lost I don't understand I trained out here for a whole year." Jaden walks up to him and says "Hey you are speaking like a human being again." Damon triess hide it and says "Oh I no get what" Jaden stops him and says "Hey it is okay Damon you can just be yourself." Damon looks up with tears in his eyes asks "You mean it because I could really use a shower and a haircut" and he starts to cry. Dorthy looks at very on the verge on tears and says "And shirt." Damon doesn't look up and says "Well actually I thouht all that ving swinging got me pretty ripped so I was thinking maybe you know." Dorthy kneels down and put a hand on his arm and says "Damon a shirt." Damon pulls Dorthy into a hug and say "Yeah" Jaden smiles and says "It's eggwhich time."
The next day Alexis and walk in to the card and I grab the first sandwhich it touch and give Alexis a kiss as I go sit down as Alexiss start to dig through the cart. Jaden walks in with Damon now looking like his old self as Alexis pulls out a sandwhich. Jaden looks at Dorthy and asks "So has anyone drew the eggwhich yet?" Dorthy smiles at him and say"No not yet good luck." They both start to dig through the sandwhichs as Damon says "Yeah better luck then I had with this hair cut at least". "I drew it the eggwhich it mine." a female voice says they both look up to Alexis with it Jaden want to trade with her and says "Hey Alexis I will trade you I got something greenish." Then Damon says "I'll take itt what I have been eating tree bark and grubs for the last year." Alexis come to sit with and breaks off a small piece of the eggwhich and gives it to me without a word and just smiles at before she starts to eat the rest of the eggwhich
