For the past five hours. Haley has been pacing back and forth in her room. Trying to figure out the hell was she gonna get out of this date. A date that her best friend Lucas sorta ambushed her with. All day at the cafe Haley has been trying to come up with excuses to get out of the date tonight. But Haley hasn't been able to come up with anything. Haley stopped pacing when she heard the front door open and close. Which meant Brooke just got home from Julian's, her fiancee. Haley reached for her bedroom door and pulled the door open as she walked towards the living room.

" I need your help to get out of a date tonight." Haley blurted out the moment she stopped right in the middle of the living room.

" What date?" Brooke asked as she raised her eyebrows and shook her head in confusion.

Haley huffed and rolled her eyes before responding." Nathan Scott wants to take me out tonight for dinner and I kinda need to get out of it." Haley said her shoulders slumped a little as she plopped down on the couch and fell back against the cushion.

" Okay, wait? Nathan Scott actually asked you out on a date?" Brooke asked as she sat down on the coffee table. " I thought he was already dating someone."

Haley just shrugged her shoulders." I thought so too. But that's not the point. The point is that Nathan Scott asked me out, well actually he had Lucas ask me out for him and I didn't actually say no. Since Lucas left the cafe before I had a chance to even say no." Haley sighs softly as she pinched the bridge of her nose for a moment.

" So, now would you please help me. Get out of this date?" Haley asked in pleading.

Brooke chuckled as she scoffed." When is he supposed to pick you up? " Brooke asked.

" I think Lucas said around 8."

" Like 8 tonight?!" Brooke Exclaimed when Haley nods her head." How am I supposed to help you get out of a date that starts in like two hours?" Brooke questioned.

Haley just shrugged her shoulders." I don't know. But what I do know is that. I can't go on this date with him. It's too soon and I'm not ready.' Haley said shaking her head as she got up from the couch and went back to her room when Brooke said something.

" What the hell am I supposed to say to him?" Brooke asked.

" Tell I am sick. Just say anything to get rid of him." Haley said as she walked into the room and closed the door behind her. Haley then crawled into bed and pulls the blanket over her head as she just wanted to hide under the covers and never want to come out. Haley is just not ready to date yet and ever since David broke her heart two years ago. Haley is just not ready to open her heart up to anyone else right now. Not even to Nathan Scott who Haley had a major crush on since high school, but she's too stubborn to admit it.

Brooke spent the last hour trying to figure out what she's gonna tell Nathan when he gets here. Brooke hates being in the middle of things like this. But since Haley is one of her best friends and roommate. Brooke figures she might as well help Haley just this once. Brooke groans as soon as she heard the doorbell. Taking a deep breath Brooke turned around and walked over to the door.

Opening the door Brooke saw Nathan standing there with a bouquet of flowers." Hi Nathan. " Brooke said as she was trying to say something else.

" Hey, is Haley ready?" Nathan wondering as he looked over her shoulder and couldn't stop smiling. Nathan has been wanting to go out with Haley for a while now ever since he broke things off with his ex. Tonight had a whole evening planned. He was going to take Haley out to dinner do some dancing and end their night with a walk on the beach.

" Yeah, um... about that." Brooke stammered as she was trying to find the right words to say. But she was failing horribly.

" Haley knew I was coming, right?" Nathan asked.

" Yeah, of course, she did. It's just she had a very stressful day at the cafe and she has like a major headache right now. She just took like a couple of Advil and went straight to bed." Brooke said as she gave a small smile. Even though she's mentally kicking herself right now for lying to him.

" Oh," Nathan said as his face fell. He was really looking forward to this tonight. But looks like it's not going to happen. Nathan sighs softly and nods his head in understanding." Well, can you give her these?" Nathan asked as he handed the bouquet of flowers to Brooke." And tell her, I hope she feels better soon."

Brooke nods her head as she gave him another small smile." Of course, I will, Good night Nate." Brooke said as she closed the door behind her. Brooke took another deep breath as she looked down at the flowers for a moment. Shaking her head for a moment. Brooke walked into the kitchen and grabbed a vase from the top shelf. Filling the vase with some water. Brooke looked over at her shoulder as she saw Haley walking into the kitchen.

" You Owe Me."

" I know." Haley responded as she took a seat at the barstool and leans against the kitchen counter." Was he upset?" Haley asked softly.

" No." Brooke answered as she shook her head." But he was disappointed." Brooke said as she walked over to the kitchen table and placed the vase on to the center of the table. Brooke turned around and leans against the table as she watched her best friend for a moment.

" Wanna tell me, the reason why you won't go out with him?"

Haley sat up straight and turned around on the barstool. She just shook her head and shrugged her shoulders." I am just not ready yet." Was the only answer Haley could give to Brooke right now." I am gonna go take a shower and then I am gonna go back to bed." Haley said as she got up of of the barstool and walked out of the kitchen without saying another word,

Brooke just scoffed and shook her head." Brooke could tell there's more to what Haley was saying and sooner or later Brooke was going to get the truth out of Haley. Even if Brooke had to beat it out of her.
